In this compelling episode of the Alcohol Minimalist Podcast, Molly reconnects with Katie Lain, founder of Thrive Alcohol Recovery, to explore the power of neuroscience-based strategies for changing your relationship with alcohol. Katie shares her personal recovery story and how the Sinclair Method, a treatment protocol that uses the medication naltrexone, gave her a new lease on life. This conversation goes beyond the medication to highlight the vital role of mindset, habit formation, and long-term commitment to behavior change. Molly and Katie discuss the real-world challenges people face in recovery, the importance of self-compassion, and how small, sustainable steps create the most lasting transformation. What You'll Learn in This Episode:How the Sinclair Method works and why it's effective for both binge and daily drinkersWhy medication is a support tool, not a standalone solutionThe mental space that opens up when cravings start to fadeThe average timeline to regain control and build a peaceful relationship with alcoholUnique challenges for binge drinkers, including compliance and thought patternsThe critical importance of mindset and identifying unconscious beliefsWhat to expect on the journey: setbacks, progress, and learning to keep goingWhy self-compassion and curiosity are non-negotiables for long-term changeKey Message: Naltrexone can be a powerful part of the journey, but it must be paired with thought work, intentional habit-building, and a willingness to take small steps forward—even after setbacks. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and both Molly and Katie emphasize that you don't have to wait until alcohol becomes a serious problem to start creating change.Resources Mentioned:Learn more about Thrive Alcohol Recovery: thrivealcoholrecovery.comKatie Lain on YouTube, Instagram, and other social platformsMolly's coaching programs and podcast archive: www.mollywatts.comLet's Connect:Website: www.mollywatts.comInstagram: @alcoholminimalistFacebook: Join the Alcohol Minimalists GroupLow risk drinking guidelines from the NIAAA:Healthy men under 65:No more than 4 drinks in one day and no more than 14 drinks per week.Healthy women (all ages) and healthy men 65 and older:No more than 3 drinks in one day and no more than 7 drinks per week. One drink is defined as 12 ounces of beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof liquor. So remember that a mixed drink or full glass of wine are probably more than one drink.Abstinence from alcoholAbstinence from alcohol is the best choice for people who take medication(s) that interact with alcohol, have health conditions that could be exacerbated by alcohol (e.g. liver disease), are pregnant or may become pregnant or have had a problem with alcohol or another substance in the past.Benefits of “low-risk” drinkingFollowing these guidelines reduces the risk of health problems such as cancer, liver disease, reduced immunity, ulcers, sleep problems, complications of existing conditions, and more. We thought it would be an excellent opportunity to look back at 2024—our favorite shop upgrades, biggest projects, and lessons learned—and then peek ahead at what's in store for 2025. A mechanic once said, "Don't put it down—put it away." That mindset has helped keep tools in their proper places, eliminating the frustration of searching for misplaced items. - Brian's Upgrade: A high-quality toolbox (not just a basic Harbor Freight or Home Depot option) made a massive difference. A well-organized toolbox reflects a well-organized workflow. - Greg's Upgrade: Adding Husky cabinets under his table saw extension improved storage and accessibility. The Incra Miter Gauge Brian recommended the Incra Miter Gauge, and it quickly became one of Greg's most-used tools in 2024. - Why It's Great: - Eliminates play in the miter slot for precise, repeatable cuts. - Features an integrated stop block system (similar to high-end aftermarket options). - Fine-adjustment capabilities make it perfect for exact angles. Greg admits he was skeptical at first, preferring crosscut sleds, but after a year of use, he hasn't touched his sled since. The Black Box Vacuum Pump for CNC Workholding Greg's Black Box vacuum pump transformed his CNC workflow. - The Problem: Workholding on a CNC can be a nightmare—tabs, screws, and clamps often lead to failed cuts. - The Solution: The vacuum pump holds sheets firmly in place, reducing material waste and improving efficiency. - Success rate went from ~75% to 98%. - Added automation: The CNC now turns the pump on/off automatically via relay control. The Track Saw Revolution Greg was a longtime skeptic of track saws, preferring a circular saw and straightedge. But after breaking down hundreds of sheets of MDF, he caved and bought a Ridgid cordless track saw. - Why It Won Him Over: - Faster, more accurate breakdown of sheet goods. - Paired with an MFT-style workbench (from Fred Sexton of Bristol Artisan Co.) and Bora Speed Horses, creating a portable, efficient cutting station. - No more wrestling full sheets—everything gets broken down outside before entering the shop. The Festool Debate Brian and Greg had a fun back-and-forth about Festool. - Pros: - Industry-leading dust collection (great for job sites and clean shops). - The Domino joiner is a game-changer for furniture makers. - Cons: - High price tag. - Some tools may not justify the cost for hobbyists or those who don't need ultra-portability. Packout Systems & Tool Storage Both Brian and Greg explored different modular storage systems (Milwaukee Packout, Klein, etc.). - Greg's Pick: Klein Tool Cases—expensive but rugged, with clear lids and customizable bins. - Brian's Experience: Packout systems are great for contractors but may be overkill for shop-only use. Harbor Freight's Improvement Greg noted that Harbor Freight's quality has significantly improved over the years. - Icon Tools Line: Their ratcheting wrenches and socket sets now rival mid-tier brands like Husky and Craftsman. - Toolboxes: No longer the flimsy junk of the past—now a solid budget option. Notable Projects from 2024 Brian's Big Builds - Las Vegas Casino Project: A massive, high-profile installation that pushed his team's limits. - Red Rocks Amphitheater Work: A challenging but rewarding project (technically late 2023, but close enough!). Lesson Learned: Installation is just as critical as fabrication. Even the best-built pieces can fail if not installed correctly. Greg's Product Expansion When a competitor in the guitar-making jigs and tools space went out of business, Greg saw an opportunity. - Redesigned & Released Over 20 New Products, including: - Side benders (for shaping guitar sides). - Outside molds & cutaway forms (previously unavailable). - Mortise & tenon jigs (V3 design, improved from older versions). - Backward Compatibility: Ensured his new tools worked with older systems, earning gratitude from customers. Looking Ahead to 2025 Greg's Goals: Build His First Commissioned Guitar – Learning from luthier Robbie O'Brien to refine construction techniques. Expand Skyscraper Guitars – Transition from a one-man operation to a scalable business with employees. Finish the Porsche 356 Project – After a busy 2024, he's eager to get back to this passion build. Brian's Plans: - Grow His YouTube Presence – Shifting focus to more educational content for aspiring woodworkers. - Streamline Production – Finding ways to balance custom work with repeatable, profitable projects. Final Thoughts 2024 was a year of tool upgrades, shop efficiency, and big projects. For 2025, the focus shifts to growth, refinement, and new challenges. What were your biggest shop upgrades or projects in 2024? What are you looking forward to in 2025? Let us know in the comments!

On this week's episode of In The Circle, we're taking it back to where it all began - Episode 1. In this episode, Theresa asked us such a very important question: is it possible for a person in recovery to truly reach a place of peace and contentment? This incredibly powerful question, it seems to me, is really about the entire human race. Is it possible for any person, whether in recovery or not, to truly find peace and contentment? When we look at this inquiry through the lens of addiction and recovery, we learn so much about ourselves. Our minds are responsible for some of the problems that we encounter, but our minds also create the solutions.Thoughts lead to impressions, impressions lead to habits, and our habits determine how we act in this world. It's only by taking action to change these habits that we can move forward into a greater state of awareness and presence.Tommy Discusses:Journey before destination Solutions for anxiety through forming healthier habitsShifting your focus from the symptom of a problem towards its solutionThe burden of shame Would you like to be a guest on the In The Circle Podcast? Do you feel like you're spinning your wheels but not getting anywhere? Like something's blocking you from reaching your full potential? Well, my friend, chances are you're dealing with one (or more) of these five dream killers. And let me tell you, if you don't know the last one, you're probably doing it—without even realizing it—and it's keeping you from where you truly want to go.In this episode of The Happy Hustle Podcast, I'm breaking down the five biggest dream killers and, more importantly, how to overcome them so you can Happy Hustle your way to a life you truly love—one filled with passion, purpose, and positive impact. And hey, if you're not careful, these dream killers will sneak up on you. So let's dive in!Doubt – The Silent Dream KillerDoubt is that little voice in your head whispering, You're not good enough. You can't do this. Who do you think you are? Sound familiar? Yeah, doubt is sneaky like that. It stops you before you even start, and if you let it, it'll keep you stuck forever.Solution: Confidence, my friend. And confidence comes from repetition and results. Start stacking small wins every single day. Say your I AM mantras (I do this daily). Remind yourself of your past successes. Speak positivity into your subconscious and cut that doubt out of your life for good.Delusion – The False Story You Keep Telling YourselfDelusion is believing your own excuses. It's blaming others, thinking the world is out to get you, and refusing to take ownership of your own results. And the danger? It keeps you in a victim mindset instead of a victor mindset.Solution: Radical responsibility. Audit your excuses. Ask yourself, Is this belief empowering me or holding me back? Then replace limiting beliefs with empowering truths. Own your actions. Own your results. Own your future.Delay – The Procrastination Trap“I'll start tomorrow.” “I'll launch my business next year.” “I'll get healthy when work slows down.” Sound familiar? Delay is a dream killer, and too many people take their dreams to the grave because they keep waiting for the perfect moment.Solution: The 5-Second Rule. Countdown—5, 4, 3, 2, 1—and take action before your brain talks you out of it. Good and done is better than perfect and never finished. Just get started.Discouragement – Letting Setbacks Stop YouSetbacks, failures, criticism—yeah, they suck. But the biggest mistake you can make? Letting them discourage you to the point of quitting. Most people give up right before their breakthrough. Don't let that be you.Solution: Shift your mindset. Failures aren't setbacks; they're setups for something greater. Every challenge is happening for you, not to you. Failure is just fertilizer for future growth. Keep pushing forward.Distraction – The Ultimate Dream KillerAnd here it is—the biggest dream killer in today's world: distraction. Death-scrolling on Instagram, binge-watching Netflix, playing video games for hours—these things suck your time and energy away from what truly matters.Solution: Create focus zones. Block out 90 minutes of deep, uninterrupted work. Track your time for 24 hours and see where your distractions are creeping in. If it's not moving you closer to your goals, it's stealing from your dreams. These five dream killers—doubt, delusion, delay, discouragement, and distraction—are what's keeping most people stuck. But now that you know them, you have the power to overcome them. Start taking action today, and Happy Hustle your way to a life of freedom, fulfillment, and impact!Ready to level up? This episode was inspired by a really great question I got from someone in my Instagram community. Today, I'm sharing some general guidance on how to decide what content to share for free vs. what to charge for. The balance of giving and selling is what builds a sustainable business. In this lecture, Don Carson examines Ezekiel's prophetic vision from God as recorded in Ezekiel 4–5. The prophet's actions symbolize Jerusalem's impending judgment because of their sin, and Carson highlights the inevitability of God's wrath and the need for repentance. He points to the seriousness of God's judgment in the Old Testament and the ultimate display of God's justice and mercy in the New Testament, particularly through the cross. He teaches the following:Ezekiel's prophetic actions convey the severity of God's coming judgmentGod's wrath is a necessary consequence of the people's wickednessWhy we must understand repentanceHow Ezekiel 4–5 fits into the context of the Bible's metanarrativeThe problem of humanity's sin requires a divine solutionThe cross is the ultimate expression of God's justice and mercyHelp The Gospel Coalition build up a renewed church for tomorrow. Snag Our Simplified Budget System! In this episode, the hosts explore common financial challenges couples face, highlighting the impact of miscommunication, unclear expectations, and differing financial habits. They discuss strategies to help clients better align as a team in managing finances, emphasizing the importance of clear communication, shared responsibility, and intentional budgeting. Here are the top insights: The Challenge: When one partner shoulders all financial responsibilities, resentment and isolation can build up. In one case, the partner managing the budget felt frustrated as the other continued spending without understanding the budget constraints. The Solution: To bridge this gap, the hosts recommend setting up a regular "budget meeting" together to review spending plans and set goals as a team. This approach brings both partners into the decision-making process, fostering mutual understanding and reducing tension. The Challenge: Financial discussions often carry frustration, especially if there's debt or overspending. One client's frustration led her to lash out, which wasn't productive. The Solution: The hosts suggest framing money talks with positivity and patience rather than letting frustration take over. Using a constructive, supportive tone can make the other partner more willing to engage and problem-solve collaboratively. The Challenge: Many assume more income will solve financial issues, but often uncontrolled expenses are the real problem. The hosts noted clients with high incomes still facing debt due to unchecked spending. The Solution: By creating a detailed budget and sticking to it, clients can manage their expenses effectively, making it possible to save or pay off debt regardless of income level. The Challenge: Many people overlook opportunities to save on expenses like insurance. The hosts point out that people rarely re-quote their policies, resulting in overpayment. The Solution: The hosts recommend using insurance brokers to easily compare multiple quotes. They suggest this as a simple, effective way to save money without added hassle. The Challenge: Clients used to being overdrawn may feel uncomfortable when they see a positive balance, leading them to spend unnecessarily. The Solution: Recognizing these money anxieties and developing comfort with a positive balance can help break the cycle of overspending, leading to better financial health. 1. Welcome to another episode of Category Visionaries — the show that explores GTM stories from tech's most innovative B2B founders. In today's episode, we're speaking with Rina Galperin, CTO & Co-Founder of PVML, a groundbreaking data access platform that has raised $8 Million in funding. Here are the most interesting points from our conversation: Innovative Solution to Data Access: Rina discusses how PVML addresses the challenge of tightly coupled permissions management in traditional data systems, offering a centralized, agnostic approach to data access that eliminates the need for duplicating permissions management across different tools. From Problem to Solution: The idea for PVML was born out of Rina's experience at Microsoft, where she encountered the complexities of analyzing sensitive data. This led to the realization that a better solution was needed, culminating in the development of PVML's unique differential privacy technology. Customer Acquisition Journey: Rina shares that acquiring the first paying customer took about six months. Their approach involved reaching out cold to potential clients and learning deeply about their pain points and motivations, which helped refine their customer targeting strategy. Marketing Approach: PVML employs both inbound and outbound marketing strategies, leveraging platforms like LinkedIn and email while also engaging in creative tactics like customized client onboarding materials and event-based marketing to differentiate themselves in the crowded data protection space. Category Creation and Positioning: Rina explains that while PVML is positioned within the data access category, it is redefining this space by focusing on enabling data access rather than restricting it. Their use of differential privacy allows them to unlock data for analysis without compromising privacy. Hiring and Building a Marketing Team: Rina highlights the challenges of hiring a marketing leader who is both creative and deeply understands the buyer persona. She notes the importance of aligning the marketing team's skills with the company's specific needs at various stages of growth. // Sponsors: Front Lines — We help B2B tech companies launch, manage, and grow podcasts that drive demand, awareness, and thought leadership. www.FrontLines.io The Global Talent Co. — We help tech startups find, vet, hire, pay, and retain amazing marketing talent that costs 50-70% less than the US & Europe. www.GlobalTalent.co
Outline Notes from the SermonI. IntroductionSeptember's Arrival: Acknowledgement of how quickly time is passing.Story of a Devout Man:A man decides to deepen his relationship with God by waking up at 5 a.m. daily for prayer and meditation.Challenge: The man's affectionate cat distracts him during his prayer time.Solution: The man ties the cat to the bedpost to focus on God.II. Legacy and MisinterpretationThe Son's Imitation:The son observes his father's routine and aspires to follow it.As an adult, the son ties his cat to the bedpost but then engages in distractions like emails and work, missing the true purpose of the routine.Lesson: The son followed the form but missed the essence, illustrating a misunderstanding of what truly matters.III. Scriptural Parallel: The Scribes and PhariseesReligious Rituals vs. True Purpose:The scribes and Pharisees, like the son, were focused on religious customs (e.g., hand-washing) but missed the deeper purpose of growing closer to God.Jesus' Critique:Jesus emphasizes that it's not what goes into the mouth (rituals) but what comes out (words and actions) that defines a person.Missing the Point: The Pharisees were good at following rules but failed to focus on the weightier matters—spiritual growth and how faith is lived out.IV. Modern-Day Reflection: Spiritual but Not Religious MovementRise of "Spiritual but Not Religious" (SBNR):The SBNR movement gained momentum as people sought a relationship with God outside of organized religion. Many are turned off by institutional religion due to modern-day scribes and Pharisees.Lillian Daniel's Insight:God in Everyday Life:It's easier to see God in nature (e.g., sunsets) than in challenging human relationships (e.g., difficult people in church).Need for Both Spirituality and Religion:While personal spiritual experiences are valuable, learning to live, love, and grow with others in a religious community is equally important.V. The Call for DiscernmentEssentials vs. Non-Essentials:Discernment is necessary to distinguish between human traditions and God's true will.Avoiding Empty Rituals:Like the man tying his cat to the bedpost, it's important not to get caught up in rituals that have lost their meaning.True Significance in Faith:Jesus' Teachings:Focus on what emanates from the heart—how we treat others, the integrity of our words, and the compassion we show. The essence of faith is not in strict adherence to rules but in the love and kindness we express towards others.VI. Conclusion and ChallengeReflecting God's Love:Challenge: Discern how to show God's love through our actions and interactions.Untying the Cats: Identify and let go of practices or distractions that prevent us from living out the true purpose of our faith.

In this episode of The Rising Tide Startups, we chat with Taylor Black, a dynamic entrepreneur whose roots trace back to high school ventures and now extend into the innovative ecosystem of Microsoft's venture studio. Taylor's narrative is woven from his formative years launching a B2B SaaS enterprise during his legal studies, to his strategic role in shepherding early-stage companies towards market success such as Conduit Venture Labs and Fizzy Ventures. Whether he's sharing the nuts and bolts of product development or recounting the strategic pivot of Altis.io, an AI platform, Taylor's story is a masterclass in business acumen and adaptability. Taylor Black is a Seattle-based entrepreneur and intrapreneur with an impressive tech industry track record. He currently works in Microsoft's internal Venture Studio. He also mentors startups through Fizzy Ventures, and founded Altis.io, an AI platform designed to support user researchers. Here are the key takeaways from the conversation: The Intrapreneurial Edge is the use of entrepreneurial skills to promote change, new initiatives, and innovation within a corporation. Venture Capital and Angel Investing Insights are essential for entrepreneurs and startups to understand the workings of financing startups and fast-growing businesses by providing knowledge on investment mechanics, capital accessibility, networking prospects, market validation, and risk mitigation strategies. Angel investing is no longer just for the wealthy. Sweat equity and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) allow smaller investors to participate. Online platforms and crowdfunding democratize venture capital and broaden access to investment opportunities. This fosters a more inclusive investment landscape. Three things serve as critical factors in assessing a startup's potential: The Team: Passionate and committed individuals who strongly desire to put energy into their venture. The Problem: A deep understanding of a significant, meaty problem that the team is in love with, rather than being fascinated with their solution. The Solution: The team must have the capability to build a viable solution to the problem they've identified. They should have a conceptual understanding and practical know-how or a clear path to developing a solution that addresses the problem effectively. "If you don't show up, if you don't show up on time, you're out. If you don't do this, you're out. Like, you're like, 'Yeah, this is how we feed our family.' Like, this isn't a game, right?" -Steve Larosiliere Welcome to a brand-new episode of the Woodpreneur Podcast. In this episode I'm going to help you with the secret of attracting more clients for your wood business. Hartman Cabinetry grapples with a common rural dilemma – a scarcity of skilled labor. Despite a bustling business driven by word-of-mouth referrals, the need for more hands on deck is undeniable. Recognizing this bottleneck, the owner sought guidance on how to attract talent to their doorstep. Steve Larosiliere's insights provide a roadmap for your woodworking business's growth and prosperity. By following these steps, you'll be on your way to attracting and serving the right clientele, ensuring the long-term success of your business. It's time to hear the complete story now! “I would put together a PowerPoint, and do an overview of who you are, what you do, and then have a paid internship for three people. And they have to complete a certain number of tasks in like five or six weeks. “ -Steve Larosiliere Crafting a Solution: The entrepreneurial mentor, armed with years of experience, proposed a visionary solution – an apprenticeship program tailored for high school students. This program aimed to bridge the gap between education and industry, offering a pathway for young minds to explore and thrive in the world of woodworking. Execution Strategy: The blueprint was clear – outreach to nearby high schools, engage with guidance counselors, and present the opportunity for eager juniors and seniors to embark on a journey with Hartman Cabinetry. Through a structured program comprising paid internships and formal apprenticeships, the aim was to cultivate a pipeline of skilled craftsmen poised to join the workforce upon graduation. Integration of Technology: Recognizing the evolving landscape of craftsmanship, the conversation veered towards embracing technology. The mention of CNC machines and automation underscored the business's commitment to innovation. The owner's brother, a student of automation robotics, symbolized the integration of traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, laying the foundation for future growth and diversification. Building a Sustainable Future: Amidst plans to expand and fabricate machines for trade shows, a crucial realization emerged – the need to nurture talent for long-term sustainability. The journey from apprenticeship to full-time employment symbolized not just a job but a commitment to the community and the legacy of craftsmanship. Embracing Social Media: In a digital age, the importance of social media in business cannot be overstated. The podcast conversation culminated in the recognition of the power of platforms like Instagram and Facebook. As the owner acknowledged the potential of social media to amplify their reach, a new avenue for showcasing their craft and attracting talent emerged. Conclusion: In the tranquil countryside where tradition meets innovation, Hartman Cabinetry stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity. Through strategic planning, innovative thinking, and a commitment to nurturing talent, this family business is not just weathering the challenges of rural life but flourishing amidst them Contact him through: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thelarosiliere/ Woodpreneru Network IG: https://www.instagram.com/woodpreneurnetwork LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stevelarosiliere/ Acres of Timber Website: https://www.acresoftimber.com/ Stoked Website: https://www.stoked.org/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/SteveLarosiliere Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/stevelarosiliere1/ Woodpreneurlife Website: https://www.woodpreneurlife.com/

Norway plans to be a low carbon economy by 2050, but the transition to get there keeps getting delayed, says Martin Skancke, Chairman of the Norwegian government's commission on transition to a low carbon economy, and Chairman of PRI (Principles for Responsible Investment) and board member in several companies. We're thinking too short term, says Martin, we aren't looking at a long time horizon and therefore we're increasing the risk as we run out of time. What needs to happen is for all stakeholders to connect the bigger picture with their plan for how to get there. In this episode of Summa & Friends, Martin discusses where his passion and deep commitment to help resolve the climate crisis came from, what managers of listed equities can learn from managers of private equity in terms of addressing corporate governance issues, before delving into his work around Norway's transition to a low carbon economy. “We started at the opposite end, we started by incentivising everyone to buy their own electric car, and we'll find that policy will be difficult to reverse. But if we had thought more systematically about a solution that has a natural place in 2050, we would have maybe thought about it differently.”To find out more, download and listen to this episode. SEASON 2 EPISODE 6 There's Always a Solution: The importance of data storytelling and contextualisation (Part 2) Hosted by Rhetta Chappell Conversation with Dan O'Halloran and Dr. Tom Verhelst When it comes to understanding patient and community needs and improving interventions, experiences, and outcomes, a conversation with and about data and contextualisation are both crucial elements in understanding and making sense of information. Data provide the raw material for analysis and decision-making, but it is only when contextualised that data or insights become truly actionable and valuable. Contextualisation refers to the process of understanding the circumstances and conditions in which the data were collected, and the broader social, economic, and cultural factors that may have influenced interpretation. Put simply, without contextualisation, data can be misleading and even harmful. Join our conversation with health economist and adjunct professor Dan O'Halloran as we discuss data storytelling and explore whether well-meaning policies are incentivising true value or value-for-money in Australian hospitals, day-cares, and aged-care homes and whether as decision makers we have the right to ask people to do things that they simply just don't have the financial capacity or freedom to do. You'd like to be financially free, but you just don't know how to make it happen? We'll tell you how to be financially free on Faith and Finance. First, we have to say that you never want to be financially independent from God. He owns everything and He's your provider. But you do want to be financially free to serve God more fully. Now, those who've achieved that know there's one absolute requirement for financial freedom, and that's learning how to live— not just within your means— but actually below your means. And to do it for a long time.Certainly, that will require doing certain things, which we'll get into in a bit, but achieving financial freedom actually begins with a mental exercise. You need to change your thinking. One of the reasons most diets fail is that they're often based on deprivation. As you restrict your calories, you feel deprived. And you can only tolerate that for so long before you plow into a box of donuts. Living on a budget works the same way. If you feel you're financially deprived, you'll eventually start to overspend again. It's the opposite of contentment. Why might someone feel financially deprived? The Bible gives us several reasons: greed, envy or covetousness, a lack of faith in God to provide, or any combination of those. But no matter the reason, it makes living on a budget difficult when it should be easy.THE SOLUTIONThe solution begins with developing a sense of gratitude for what God has already provided. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”Next, you must believe that you can learn to live below your means. It might be a challenge, and you'll probably have setbacks, but keep at it, cutting expenses as necessary. Okay, so much for the thinking part, now it's time to get your hands involved. TIPS FOR STAYING ON A BUDGETFirst, you must have “margin.” That's money left over at the end of the month. You no doubt have several fixed bills that come in every month and you pay them without thinking, but start thinking about them.Is there a way to lower your mortgage payment? Maybe by getting rid of PMI? Can you reduce your heating or cooling bill? Maybe get rid of streaming apps you don't use much? Don't take those bills for granted.Sometimes all you have to do is ask. Did you know that you can actually negotiate things like medical bills and household repairs? You might say, “Is that the best you can do?” You might get a discount. It doesn't cost anything to ask.By the way, it's easier to stay on budget if you actually watch what you spend. instead of having a lot of stuff on autopilot. Download the FaithFi app to set up your budget. It will then track all of your spending and likely reveal things you can easily cut, like those streaming apps I mentioned. That alone could save you a few hundred dollars a year.REWARD PROGRESS!Now, there's another tried and true way you can avoid feeling deprived by your budget, and that's by rewarding yourself. You want to celebrate small victories along the way to financial freedom. At the end of a successful week staying on budget, treat the family to ice cream. After you have $1,000 in your emergency fund, maybe go out to dinner. The idea is that it's okay to splurge now and then, just not all the time. The same way, try to spread out your spending for things like having your nails done. Instead of every four weeks, can you do it every six weeks? At $25 a pop, you'll save around $100 a year.If you're paying to keep stuff in one of those you-store-it places, get rid of it. You can cut that cost and bring in more money by selling it. For most things, if you haven't used it in a year, you probably don't need it. Every little bit helps.Okay, if you do all of those things, you've trimmed your budget as much as possible and you're still having trouble living below your means, you'll need to increase those means.Look for ways to add to your income. Employers are still desperate to find and retain good workers, so maybe it's time to ask for a raise, or for more hours, or maybe you can take on a side job.On this program, Rob also answers listener questions: How do you determine if it makes sense to pay off your home now?Does it make sense to move money into high-yield savings or into a CD?Should you tap into home equity to pay off credit cards?RESOURCES MENTIONED:Christian Credit CounselorsRemember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. We all deal with angry customers, and it's enough to drive people crazy. Angry and difficult customers are a major cause of workplace stress, and they take up huge amounts of your time and the resources of your organization. There are a lot of tricks and techniques you can use to deal with an angry customer. For now, let's focus on the most common mistake employees make when dealing with the difficult or angry customer. By avoiding this particular error, you can save yourself a lot of stress and time. The #1 Mistake When you are faced with an angry customer, you probably assume that the customer wants his or her "problem" fixed. That's a logical approach and it's at least partly true. Angry customers expect that you will be able to help them in some concrete way, by meeting their want or need. However, there's more to the story. Ever notice that with a really angry person, even if you can "fix" the problem, the person still acts in angry or nasty ways? Why is that? Well, actually angry customers want several things. Yes, they want the problem fixed, but they also want to BE HEARD, TO BE LISTENED TO, and to have their upset and emotional state recognized and acknowledged. What most employees do with angry customers is move immediately to solve the problem without giving that acknowledgment. Do you know what happens? The customer is so angry that he or she isn't prepared to work to solve the problem, doesn't listen, and gets in the way of solving the problem. So the number one error is moving to solve the problem before the customer is "ready", or calm enough to work with the employee. The result is the employee has to repeat things over and over (since the customer didn't hear), and has to ask the same questions over and over. And that's what drives people nuts. The Solution The solution is to follow this general rule: When faced with an angry customer, FIRST focus on acknowledging the feelings and upset of the customer. Once the customer starts to calm down as a result of having his or her feelings recognized, THEN move to solving the problem. You'll find that this will save you a lot of time and energy. Situation 1 Here's an example of a type of customer that is really feared. Now you'll recognise Mr Tiger all right. In our example he's turned up to the bank where Cathy works. As always, he's angry. He's been waiting about for nearly ten minutes. He may also have had a particularly bad day so far and wants any excuse to turn his anger on someone else. Let's see how Cathy deals with him.

I was recently invited to give a lightning talk on a topic that's been capturing much of my mindspace of late: whether crypto can be a better technology for capital formation than legacy options, such as banks, capital markets, and non-bank financial intermediaries. I've spent most of my adult life working on the problem of access to capital in the so-called ‘emerging' and ‘developing' economies. So, I focused my presentation on the $4 trillion financing gap besetting small and medium-sized enterprises ( — or SMEs — ) in these markets. That said, I think an open, permissionless protocol for capital formation would be a boon to innovation and entrepreneurship everywhere. This episode re-records my presentation for an audio-first audience, and it hits four topics:The problem — what it is, where it is, and why it existsThe shortcomings of existing non-bank intermediaries (i.e., PE funds)Crypto's potential solutionThe challenges with implementing a crypto solutionIf you find this interesting / inspiring, then send Mike an email at mike@porticoadvisers.com.——— Watch the presentation on YouTubeDownload a copy of the deckWatch The Evolution of Private Equity in Emerging Markets on YouTubeRead Mike's post TrillionsListen to Roger Leeds on Private Equity & DevelopmentFollow Mike on Farcaster or Twitter———Music credit: Daniel Allan, “Too Close” released on Sound. Who is Myron Golden? Recently I stumbled into Myro Golden again on YouTube while he was being interviewed by Dan Henry. My first encounter with him was on “Club House; the audio app” during the pandemic. He uses a lot of biblical principles to teach marketing and sales strategies. What does Myron do? According to an example he gave on one of his most popular videos on making statable offers for sale, “Dr Myron Golden teaches people how to scale their business by selling predominantly high volume high ticket from the stage and his students have multiple 6 and 7-figure days faster than any other business coach in the industry. I'm sure that would get your attention as well. Yes he is a PHD holder from a private school. I saw a recent video of a guru police questioning the credibility of the school he got his PHD from. But I don't care about that stuff. I've listened to him enough and my conclusion is that he knows what he is talking about. --> READ THE BLOG POST HERE https://myempirepro.com/myron-golden/ --> WATCH VIDEO VERSION HERE https://youtu.be/k6YrSNCXe6A What did Dr.Myron Say? He said a lot that I agree with and I have taken the liberty to extract 7 marketing and sales tips for you. Also 200+ YouTube subscribers seems to agree with me. Before we break down these 7 tips… Who am I? My name is OLA and I am the founder of myEmpirePRO. myEmpirePRO is all about learning, earning and building empires. I am also the author of 4 books namely Digital Marketing Certified, Smart Real Estate Wholesaling, Get My Marriage Back co-authored with my wife Lola and Real Estate Money Secrets. What are my thoughts on these tips from Dr.Myron? Tip Number 7 - Create a Solution The more value you bring into the marketplace, the more money will eventually transfer into your bank account. It's really that simple. Keep in mind that a major factor here is the market place. So the solution you create is being deemed to be solving a problem per the market's opinion and not just yours. Think of solutions also as answering someone's question with an answer and replacing a person's pain with relief or pleasure. Tip Number 6 - Connect with Someone We've already mentioned the marketplace. But let's take it a little deeper than that. The marketplace is made up of people; one person at a time. So the question is who is that person whose problem is solved by the solution that you provide. You need to connect with the person. And by the way, we are not talking about physically connecting with him or her. The first step is to get to know whoever this person is. Tip Number 5 - Contribute to Someone After identifying that special someone who makes up the marketplace you want to serve, contribute a piece of your solution to them; that's value. And I mean contribute for free. That's precisely the part of your activities that will create that downstream viral growth effect you are looking for in your business. Focus on serving that one proverbial person and the rest will take care of itself. The others will naturally connect with that value you've taken time to create at a deep level. Tip Number 4 - Create Emotions Dr.Myron talked about the difference between faith and doubt; basically not much. They are both a form of belief and emotions but polar opposites. You need to create the feelings, emotions and beliefs that will drive the sales conversion or desired outcome using your marketing message. It's your responsibility. Sure your product has all these positive features. But per your marketplace, it has both positive and negative perceptions. You want to use your marketing messaging to focus on expanding the positive perceptions of your offer. Tip Number 3 - Create Measurable Offers Your prospect needs to be able to quantify the benefit that your offer brings to their health, finances or relationships; it needs to be measurable. They need to be able to compare the new anticipated status against their present status. Their present status doesn't need to be presently bad. But the promised new status needs to be obviously better and that betterment needs to be measurable. With that being said, keep in mind that the offer is not necessarily your product. Think of your product from a value standpoint. Tip Number 2 - Create Statable Offers I agree 100% with Dr.Myron here. The average mind is not satisfied with their marketing and sales message until they use big words. This is a terrible mistake. Keep in mind that people will primarily take you up on your offer because the idea of buying from you feels good. The set of features of your product is secondary. So it's best that you can describe what your offer does in a simple one–statement manner that a 3rd to 5th grader can understand. Tip Number 1 - Create Understandable Offers If little kids in 3rd grade can't understand your offer, there is a very good chance that you don't understand your offer. Again, you might have created a fantastic product. But so has everybody else. One of the things that will set you apart from everyone else that is struggling to sell their fantastic product is your ability to understand your product enough to create an understandable offer out of it. What do I like the most about Myron Golden's Tips? Tip number four is my favorite just because I've seen and experienced the magic of being able to create emotions in prospects. Your prospects simply don't care about the greatness of your product until they can feel the transformation the product offers. Today I want to address some big topics of Stress, Anxiety Depression and Worry. When I find myself feeling these emotions I always go to my mentors like Dale Carnegie. He has some amazing advice and thoughts on this topic. But ultimately, its important to remember that even tho they seem overwhelming...Anxiety, worry and depression are Unnecessary, Self-inflicted and Conquerable. Learn how to stop worrying and start living. To effectively combat worry, it's important to understand what causes it... The cause of worry is simple...It's a result of focusing outside of the present—overthinking the past and harboring anxiety about the future. Each morning, you're granted a limited amount of time and energy to focus, get things done, and make the best of your day—there's only so much you can handle mentally and physically. However, Carnegie explains, worrying about the past and future creates additional burdens that use up your limited time and energy and distract you from focusing on what you need to do today. Carrying the weight of your worries overwhelms you, creates fatigue, and results in irrational thoughts that make small concerns appear more serious than they are. As a result, it creates unnecessary stress and anxiety. Causes of worry might be small but the affects on your health over time are big... Over time, even small, daily worries deteriorate your mental and physical health: you may experience symptoms such as depression, anxiety, ulcers, headaches, insomnia, cardiac issues, diabetes, and rashes. Solution: Focus on One Day at a Time The most basic way to combat worry is training yourself to shut your mind off completely from the worries of yesterday and tomorrow, instead focusing all your attention and energy on the present moment. This is essential to alleviating stress and anxiety. When you worry about the past and future, those stresses and anxieties get added to your present load—you'll always be carrying three times the weight you need to. When you're carrying the weight of excess worry, you're easily stretched to your mental limits. This causes anxiety and unclear, disorganized thinking. On the other hand, shutting out worries about the past and future ensures that you're only carrying one day's worth of stress at a time, which allows you to keep your thinking clear and logical. Solution: The most foundational anti-worry tool is thoughtful analysis Analysis helps neutralize your emotions and breaks worrisome situations down to their basic facts so that you can look at them clearly and calmly. This allows you to make sound decisions and find the best possible solutions. Strategies for How to Break The Worry Habit Before It Breaks You Be so busy you don't have time to worry. The mind is bad at multitasking. That's why it's hard to waste time and energy worrying if you're too busy thinking or planning or taking action. Solution: If you find yourself ruminating and worrying, try occupational therapy. Take a second job. Fill the day with meaningful tasks. Keep your imagination working. Lose yourself in action. Get busy getting busy and you won't worry about worrying again. Don't let problems get you down. It's more often small problems than big ones that lead to arguments and irreconcilable differences. Even though the small ones should be easiest to let go. The best way to not let small things worry you is to... Remind yourself how much worry is wasted on trivialities; Compare the problem to a truly serious (e.g., life-threatening) problem; and Resolve to be a bigger person than the problem that's in front of you. To a size 3 person, a size 4 problem feels insurmountable. To a size 10 person, a size 4 problem feels negligible. So be a size 10 person, or at least put your size 4 problems into context. Don't stress about problems of little, passing consequences. And remember, “life is too short to be little”. Work out how (un)likely things really are. Many things we all waste time worrying about are really unlikely to happen. The point here is NOT to start worrying about probabilities. The point is to realize how unlikely our nightmares really are. Understand the tiny probabilities of whatever you're worried about occurring. Find solace in the law of averages. And in the unlikely event that those probabilities turn out to be meaningful…take action... Accept what can't be changed. There's no point in fighting the inevitable. The good news? You can survive and adapt to almost anything. You've already been through so much in life...you can handle this too... Of course, if there's still a chance of saving a situation, you should fight for it. But the moment something's clearly inescapable: surrender, adapt and make the most of it. Remember, you are stronger and more resourceful than you think. So, have faith in your ability to adapt and endure and survive. Stop worrying about and fighting against change. Worrying is bad for your mental and physical health. It's important to find ways to cope with anxiety and stress so that you can live a happier, healthier life. One way to do this is to keep yourself busy so that you don't have time to worry. Another way is to focus on the present moment and accept what you cannot change. Lastly, remember that you are stronger than you think and that you can handle whatever comes your way. Thanks for listening... George Wright III

Proptech startup Pacaso is taking its public relations strategy to the next level. The San Francisco-based company helps people buy the second home of their dreams with a co-ownership model that has sparked a lot of controversy in some places. While the general perception of Pacaso is a belief that it contributes to the housing crisis, Pacaso is showcasing its model as part of the “solution.”Hi, I'm Kathy Fettke and this is Real Estate News for Investors. If you like our podcast, please subscribe and leave us a review. Pacaso has caused a dust-up in several places as full-time residents fight back against short-term rentals. Many critics see Pacaso through this lens, but it's not a short-term rental operation.Instead of renting the home out to a stream of different occupants over the days, weeks, months, and years, Pacaso homes are purchased by up to eight buyers and each buyer gets to use the home for a percentage of the year that corresponds to the buyer's percentage of the purchase price. Pacaso manages and maintains the home, but the people who use it are co-owners, who use it on a continual basis. (1)Pacaso as Part of the SolutionThe message that Pacaso is currently trying to convey is that many people own second homes that sit empty and unused for 90% of the year. With the current shortage of available homes, Pacaso points out that the typical second-home approach is wasteful. It says that co-ownership can help reduce that waste by combining the use of up to eight second homes into one home that has as many as eight owners. As Pacaso's vice president of public affairs, Colin Tooze (tooz), said in a press release: "One significant, but less-discussed, contributor to the housing crisis is a wasteful legacy model of second-home ownership. While no company can solve this complex set of problems on its own, Pacaso offers a sustainable alternative that combines multiple families into one luxury home." (2)Pacaso also claims that the co-ownership model provides significant benefits to the community in the form of economic activity that is ten times what you'd get with the typical second home. But Pacaso says it is still working on ways to publicize its value, which is why the company recently announced the formation of a bipartisan government advisory board. Formation of Government Advisory BoardPacaso says it's a priority to work collaboratively with elected officials, and the board will help the company do that more effectively. Among the inaugural members of the board are current and former elected officials from major metros around the country, including:1 - Steve Benjamin (Chair), Former Mayor of Columbia, South Carolina, and past President of the US Conference of Mayors2 - Steve Adler, Mayor of Austin, Texas3 - Michael Hancock, Mayor of Denver, Colorado4 - Danny Perez, Member, Florida House of Representatives5 - Alexis Podesta, Former California Secretary of Business, Consumer Services, and HousingIn a statement issued by the board chairman, Steve Benjamin, says: “Pacaso's innovative second home co-ownership model is a value-add to communities across the United States,” said Steve Benjamin, former Mayor of Columbia, SC and past President of the US Conference of Mayors. “Pacaso consolidates second home demand into fewer homes, taking pressure off of housing inventory for first-time home buyers and middle class families. This is the thoughtful and sustainable approach to housing we need right now, and I'm proud to help advise the company as it works to bring this model to more communities.” (3)Pacaso Reached Unicorn Status in Six MonthsPacaso launched in October of 2020 as demand for second homes skyrocketed during the pandemic. As reported by Fortune, it reached unicorn status just six months later. That means it was worth more than $1 billion in just six months! Tooze told Fortune that he wants Pacaso homes to be good neighbors, and the board will help solve any challenges. He says: “If that helps us be more thoughtful in how we approach solutions that address the needs of the company and communities where we operate, everyone wins.” (4)You'll find a link to the Pacaso articles in the show notes at newsforinvestors.com. The current situation of our planet and the news we hear every day cause so much anxiety to people. Most of us are willing to do something to help but some just don't know where to start and often think that their actions won't matter to change anything anyway. In reality, we are all imperfect advocates for climate change. Every individual action matters but it won't matter enough to stop climate change unless it is collective and it reaches the government and the corporate levels. We have to keep going and take these actions, no matter how small we think they are. If we have more people who take initiative to be leaders in their communities, imagine what a different place we could be in.In this episode, Dakota Jones of Footprints Running talks about how important it is for every one of us to take action to make a change. When someone signs up for your email list, they are introducing themselves. Your response at that moment can be crucial to the future of your relationship. So, when someone introduces themselves to your mission by signing up for your email list, they deserve some acknowledgment, attention, and warmth. How is that accomplished? In the digital world, a "welcome-to-our-email-list" email series is how we show this common courtesy. A "welcome" email series is the polite thing to do. When someone signs up for your email list, they take the initiative to have a relationship with you. When you send a "welcome" email, you offer them a smile and a handshake. It is common courtesy. When done well, a welcome email series is your best opportunity to say hello and turn new acquaintances into donors. This one thing will push your nonprofit into the top one percent of nonprofits worldwide. So few organizations do it that you become known, liked, and trusted. And when donors know, like, and trust you, they enthusiastically give you their treasure! If you are not sending a "welcome" email series to folks that introduce themselves to you, you will never get all the money you need for your mission. A LOT of cash remains on the table that could have been yours. In writing your welcome email series, consider ahead of time what kind of engagement you want. When done right, people are most willing to join your mission with a gift in these emails. The goal is to:Send a couple of nurture emailsIntroduce them to who you are and what you doShare some emotional and engaging core stories Invite them to make a difference with a financial (monthly!) giftConsider:Email #1: Welcome; Introduction; What to expectEmail #2: The problem we uniquely solve; Beneficiary story; CTA (call-to-action) read our blogEmail #3: The problem we uniquely solve: Donor story; CTA join our social media pagesEmail #4: The problem we uniquely solve: Volunteer story; CTA fill out a special abilities Email #5: The opportunity; Make a difference with a giftEmail #6: Ask for feedbackThe hardest thing about implementing a welcome-email series is figuring out what to put in them. Copywriting legend Eugene Schwarts tells us that our goal should be to take our new acquaintances from:Completely unaware: No knowledge of our missionProblem aware: They understand the problem you solveSolution aware: They understand the unique solution you bringProduct aware: They understand the cost of your solutionThe most aware: They are invited to be a part of the solutionPotential donors are introducing themselves to you all the time! You miss a fantastic opportunity to nurture excellent relationships when you don't respond appropriately. Keep saying thank you, telling stories and responding well to people when they introduce themselves to you!David
In this episode, Snehal Antani, CEO at Horizon3, joins us to discuss the journey from business idea to successful business operations. It all begins with identifying a niche enough problem that you can provide a unique solution, yet one that's widespread enough that enough people need your unique solution. From there, it's deeply about storytelling. You have to tell a compelling and layered story about your product and build cohesion in brand voice and problem-solving. Once a customer is drawn in by a story, then, they need to be sold on credibility. So the next phase of storytelling involves the right storytellers - brand ambassadors and salespeople with industry cred - and the right audience. Do the people you're telling these stories fit your criteria? We also talk about scaling sales and all that entails. You can't be the only run pitching and driving, or you hit a plateau. So how you set others up in your company to learn the ropes and keep on telling those important stories is going to play a big part in your future growth. How do you tell your product's story? How are you getting in front of - and connecting with - the right customers? What are your plans to scale and are you prioritizing consistency? We address all these questions and more in today's episode. If you are a sales leader at a startup, or you're in the sales team, and you're searching for your repeatable scalable sales process to grow sales faster, then please get in touch with me at andrew@unstoppable.do or you can also go to my site at www.unstoppable.do.Sign up for our newsletter (https://www.salesbluebird.com)We want your questions and topic suggestions for future episodes. One of the biggest challenges podcasters face is how to make money with their show. The biggest reason podcasts don't make money is because the host doesn't have anything the listeners can buy. So, how do you figure out what to offer? What will your listeners actually buy? First, I want you to understand that people buy cheap products. They invest in expensive products. Be sure you are using the right language to attract your ideal clients. If you want to make meaningful money that will make a difference in your life, you need to find a few people who you can superserve at a high level and help them solve their problems. That is something that will get people to invest. WHO I HELP I was in a podcast Facebook group the other day. Somebody posted a meme of a skeleton sitting on a park bench with an exasperated look on its face. The caption said, "Me when I hear people ask how to monetize their podcast." There are many podcasters out there who want you to feel bad about having a desire to make money with your show. They act as if it some sin want to be compensated for all your hard work or grow your business. It's kind of like those who want to tax entrepreneurs into oblivion. It makes you not want to do the work. Another asked, "Has anyone ever looked into monetizing their podcast? And if so, what was the process?" The first answer was, "Nope, no one ever has" with a laughing emoji. Not very helpful. Next answers was, "You're missing step one." I assume step one is build an audience. But, how does that person know the original poster doesn't have a huge audience? Again, bitter podcaster on line one. When I first started Podcast Talent Coach, I was hesitant to talk about making money with your show. So many people in the podcasting world would say, "You don't have to make money with your show. Just create a great show." Coming from radio, we created great content to attract an audience. It was all about driving the business. That's what I wanted to help podcasters do. Create great content and grow a business. DON'T FEEL BAD Eventually, I started talking about various ways to make money, monetize your show and grow your business. But, I still qualified it and couched it. I would say, "If you want to make money" or "you don't necessarily have to make money." I didn't want the podcast pundits to think bad about me. Then I realized those people who didn't want to monetize, or were bitter because they couldn't figure out how to monetize, wouldn't be able to pay me to coach them anyway. What did I care what they thought? They weren't my ideal clients. Those bitter people probably wouldn't ever become my client. I'm not here to change minds. I'm here to show you what's possible. Then, show you how to do it. With my show and my process, I want to attract podcasters who are building a business. Those who can envision big things for their podcast and their lives. Imagine being able to serve a passionate audience with your superpower, helping them overcome their struggles and reach their goals. You only need a few people to help you reach that goal. I love helping people create that amazing life and future. And, I don't feel bad telling all the negative Nancies that as well. I'm an entrepreneur at heart. Other entrepreneurs are my people. I get inspired by your passion and your goals. Therefore, I block out the rest so I can leave my impact on the world. You can do the same. And, I'd love to help you. 90-DAY SPRINT I'm going to give you nine different offers that your listeners will buy in just a minute. But first, I want to give you an invitation. If you want to use your podcast to help you grow and scale a coaching business, I want to help you make that a reality. I am going to help 12 coaches build a monetization system around the podcast. You don't need to wonder where your next client will come from. There will be a steady stream of discovery calls so you can select your ideal clients. You won't fear whether or not you'll be able to cover your expenses next month. We will create a system that eliminates the guessing and allows you to follow the steps to growing a real business. As you try to build your business, the market is noisy. I get it. I hear all the same noise you do. Experts want to teach you funnels, show you how to build lead magnets, and how to create landing pages. There are JV partnerships, discovery calls, and all the podcast tech. Where do you start? What do you need first? In this program, I will bring it all together and quiet the noise. MASTERMIND This Podcast Profits Mastermind is a 90-day sprint to build your monetization system and land your next client. It is my goal to help you land a client paying you what you're worth in 90 days. We will create a podcast structure that attracts clients. This program is for the right 12 podcasters. It is limited to 12, so I can give you the dedicated attention you need and deserve. Next, the program will be $5,000. But since this is the first time I'm offering it, I will give these 12 podcasters the opportunity to join for only $2,500. Finally, you need to apply. We both need to ensure it is right for you. If this sounds like what you need to go to the next level, schedule a call with me at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/ErikCalendar. We can discuss it and see if you will be one of the 12. OFFERS LISTENERS BUY Let's talk about the potential of your podcast and coaching business. What will your listeners buy? As I was building Podcast Talent Coach, I did dozens of interviews with various podcasters. These were hosts in a variety of niches with different audiences. During these calls, I specifically asked what they would like to learn, what would help them in their journey, and how they would like to learn it. From those conversations, some commonalities began to develop. I realized their answers were falling into a few different categories. After all was said and done, nine different buckets appeared. These are the nine things your listeners will actually buy. SOLUTION The first thing your listeners will buy is the solution to their problem. This is the obvious one. If they have a problem and you have a solution, they will pay you for it. People by books for the solution contained in the pages. They pay coaches to help them overcome a struggle. People pay for results. SUPPORT Next is support. Information alone does not create a transformation. Support and accountability create true transformation. Just think how much more people pay personal trainers compared to the basic gym membership. You can do the same exercises. Why do you need a trainer? The trainer gives you accountability and support. COMMUNITY AND CONNECTIONS People will also pay for community and connections. It is tough taking your journey alone. People will pay for membership, community and connection. There are many organizations that charge membership fees. People pay to get into a party. Networking groups that provide powerful connections cost money. ACCESS The next thing your listeners will buy is access. If they can get access to you or resources that are typically reserved for select individuals, people will pay to get that access. Musicians and bands have begun to charge for backstage experiences. Superfans pay big money to get access to the band that regular fans don't have. It has become big business in the music industry. LUXURY AND PRESTIGE People will also pay for luxury and prestige. There are many examples in life. This offer is similar to a country club membership. Plenty of people pay to get access to that golf course when they could play a dozen other courses around town. First class plane seats, luxury suites at the arena and sports cars are other examples. Arguably the worst seats in the house are secluded away from everyone else and in limited quantity. Suddenly they are the most expensive seats at the show. CREDIBILITY Your listeners will also pay for credibility. If a certification or designation gives someone credibility, they will pay for that. SECURITY People often pay for security. This happens all the time. Some of those are even hard to prove. This offer could be physical, like mace, guard dogs and security alarms. It could be virtual, like encryption, LifeLock and data vaults. Security often comes with a price. INSPIRATION AND EMPOWERMENT People often buy inspiration and empowerment. This offer is clearly seen in all the self-help books, counseling and seminars. People pay to feel better about themselves. ENTERTAINMENT Finally, people will buy entertainment. Just look at how much money people spend to laugh at comedians and movies. Entertainment comes in all forms. Concerts, books, cable television. How many streaming services do you have? PICK ONE There you have nine offers people will pay for. Pick one and incorporate it into your show. If you're ready to get serious about building your business with your podcast, apply to join my Podcast Profits Mastermind. This is a 90-day sprint to build your monetization system and land your next client. It is my goal to help you land a client paying you what you're worth in 90 days. Only 12 will get in. You and I need to have a conversation to ensure it is right for you. Let's make the next 90 days the most powerful growth of your business. Grab a spot on my calendar at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/ErikCalendar. Are you interested in changing your life or are you committed? Most people think interested is close to committed. The reality is they are as far away from each other as summer is from winter. Baseball from hockey. If you are "interested", you could be 99% in. When you're "committed", you are 100% in. They sound close. But when you're 99% in, you still have one foot on the dock. It's not even possible for you to jump in. When you are "committed", both feet leave the dock and you're swimming. You're all in, because you have eliminated plan B. You can't go all in and stay dry. You have burned the boats and are committed to reach your goal. When it comes to your podcast and coaching business, are you interested or committed? Imagine having an audience full of your ideal clients waiting to work with you. What would that do to your business? How would your life be different? Would it just be "nice" to have a large, passionate audience? Or, are you "determined" to get there? Do you say, "I'm only interested in getting better"? Or, are you saying, "This is the year I hit my goals … just show me the way and let's go"? I'm looking for the right 12 people who are committed. They take action. They achieve their goals. Interested people just want to collect info and continue to aim without ever shooting. Ready, aim, aim, aim, aim. Always getting ready. Committed people take action and win. If you're committed, grab a spot on my calendar and we'll have a conversation to ensure the Podcast Profits Mastermind is right for you. Just visit www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/ErikCalendar. I look forward to our chat.

Follow me on Twitter and YouTube Twitter Handle: @TreyHenninger YouTube Channel: DIY Investing Show Outline The Dead Money Problem and Solution “If you remember only one thing today: Time is Money” What is Dead Money? Any asset you own that is not growing intrinsic value over a period of time. The focus here is on the fundamentals of the business. NOT the stock price. We can't predict stock prices. We're not going to try. Why is this a problem? The longer you hold a dead money position the worse off you are. Principle: Time x Position Sizing x Expected Return of Alternatives = Lost value By using this formula you can anticipate how much exposure you have to dead money losses. The Solution: The impact is large (Big “lost value” bucket) [>> 1%] The likelihood of success is high (Big difference in expected return between opportunities) At least 10% Passivity is better than action. Action leads to errors. Always remember that you had good reasons for your original buy decisions. Summary: Time is Money! Investors lose value on any asset they own that is not growing intrinsic value over time. This episode provides value investors with my solution on how to optimize their portfolio in the face of dead money assets and potential opportunities

The battles we are in are not left versus right, liberal versus conservative, or being optimistic or pessimistic. Human beings are religious beings. On September 19, 2020, I published the first episode of this podcast. The timing could not be better since we in the middle of a very heated general election campaign season. Some said the future of our democracy hinged on the outcome of that election. Not sure how to proceed, I decided to kick things off with three "teaser" episodes, ranging in length from three minutes to seven minutes per episode. Trying to be honest while not seeking to further incite the excitable masses, I covered three main points:1.Listen more, talk less (The Divine Ratio)2.Love your enemies (To Those Who Persecute You)3.Get involved (Part of the Solution)The response from listeners was positive, so the show continued. Over the past year, we talked about dealing with the pandemic. We also began to deal with the challenges of returning to a normal existence, especially the types and level of anxiety most are dealing with.Entering the second season of this show, we shift our focus to fulfilling any hopes and dreams that we had to put on the back burner. The main lesson learned from the recent past is that the future is both uncertain and not guaranteed. And it's never too late to strive for a happy outcome in life! Here's to health, peace, and happiness! God bless!Don't forget to visit our website: https://muchmore2say.weebly.com/. In this episode, we look at how fear is used as a tool to influence your decisions and what you can do about it. Sponsor: http://neuyear.net/tinyleaps coupon: tinyleaps The Problem Human beings are weak both emotionally and physically As a species we started out at the bottom of the heap Through the continued development of our brain we were able to get stronger Now we rule the planet, but the fear is still there That fear can be harnessed to create environments where control is easier Digging Deeper The amygdala is the part of the brain that handles fear responses. It also handles the fight or flight response. Logical thinking and processing happens in higher levels of the brain It's said that before we can think about something logically, we first have to process it emotionally. That processing determines if we are in danger or not, if the information is relevant or not...etc. So when something triggers a fear response, we often don't ever get to the logical thinking piece of the equation. We just react. This creates an opportunity for those who may want us to act in certain ways. Vote in certain ways. This is why so much of politics is fear based The other party is trying to take something away from you The other guy isn't going to protect you The other group is out to get you This is also why so much of politics is identity based We are Americans, we don't take handouts We work hard for everything we have This is why advertising is often fear based as well That problem you're dealing with is actually worse than you think It could lead to this unless you pay us The core of the message is always the same “some kind of harm is coming for you or your loved ones and the only way out is to do what we say” It's the same strategy that the mafia uses in movies to sell their insurance. “What a nice place, it'd be a shame if something happened to it” So what can we do? The Solution The answer is always to slow down our response More information is useless, the problem isn't that we don't have access to information, it's that we aren't processing information correctly. The fear response is immediate and comes before the logical response. Appealing to logic or reason isn't going to change the reaction Instead we have to add time to the situation Create an environment where we can have the initial fear response, but then take time to allow our logic centers to catch up This is the value of things like the 24 hour rule. Where if you want to buy something nom-essential you should wait 24 hours before making the decision. Those 24 hours gives your logic centers time to catch up so that you don't make a decision emotionally The same can be done with fear. When you receive a message from someone (a brand, a politician, a friend...etc) that appeals to fear responses, take it in, experience your fear response, but make no decisions until you've had time to catch up logically and apply critical thinking. If you can do this, you'll be able to make better decisions for your life --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

What does Black economic empowerment look like? My guest today is Charlene Izere, founder and CEO of Melanin & Money -- a multiple 6-figure boutique online business management agency. Charlene moved to the United States when she was 3 years old, escaping the war in Rwanda. Her upbringing shaped her into the solutions-oriented, independent woman she is today. In this episode, Charlene discusses her journey from humble beginnings to becoming a Black luxe creator. She shares how wealth, both mindset and monetary, allows communities and individuals to move from a state of survival to one that thrives in different endeavors. Charlene dives deeper into her purpose, explaining why she founded the “We Own Our Own Legacy Impact Fund” for BIWOC entrepreneurs. Tune in to hear Charlene's inspirational story and her important mission to put more opportunities and money into the hands of Black womxn. “I get to decide how I want to live my life and black women and women of color, we get to decide how we want to live our lives. And our white counterparts -- they do the same. So why not us?” - Charlene Izere Here's a closer look at the episode:Centering yourself with a wealthy mindsetNormalizing luxury for Black women and WOCWhy we all deserve a wealthy lifeFiguring out how to be a solutionThe power of knowing your potentialFinding strength and power in hardship We Own Our Legacy Fund: https://ifundwomen.com/projects/we-own-our-legacy-impact-fund The resource gap for BIWOC entrepreneurs is an existential threat to sustainable innovation in our communities, which is only heightened by the fact that our generation is witnessing more Black and Brown businesses close their doors than ever before due to COVID-19. Throughout history, BIWOC have experienced many assaults to their self-determination as entrepreneurs; but still we rise. The We Own Our Legacy Impact Fund will pool essential financial resources, business coaching, and tech support for Black and Brown women founders. We are founders. We are small business owners. We are mothers. We are WOC. We are warriors. We are a network of resources, Black resilience, Indigenous innovation, community capital, Latinx strength; to build a future where WE are our greatest asset. Our 2021 goal is to provide $100k in resource mobilization opportunities to BIWOC entrepreneurs in the following areas: monetary grants, tech infrastructure support, business coaching scholarships, and an incubator/accelerator placement. We are asking you to help us with the launch of our fund! We hope that we can count on your support. Every bit helps as we create the building blocks of our legacy.
50 Common Causes of Family Business Conflict ... and how to deal with them
50 Common Causes of Family Business Conflict ... and how to deal with them. Family Business Mediation Video No 47. Emotional Trauma. By Jon Kenfield. Solutionist & Family Business Mediator. • Psychology is the science of understanding how people think, feel, behave and learn. • I'm not a psychologist - other than at the “chicken soup” end of the scale - however, more than 20 years spent working with denizens of business families provides many opportunities to observe how people do actually think, feel, behave and learn - and the consequences for themselves, their families and friends, and the people they work with. • Personal emotional trauma sits quite high amongst serious causes of conflict in those business families. • Sometimes causes were accidental:- unforeseen and uncontrollable events, such as a home or car accidents. • Sometimes economic or political - recession, depression, or war. • Sometimes environmental - fire, flood, famine, drought, pestilence. • Sometimes domestic - violent or abusive homes; absent, broken, inadequate or misguided parenting; lack of emotional intelligence or support. • All causes create trauma. All trauma can lead to disruptive behaviours and dysfunctional relationships and, while these can be countenanced in a family they don't go down well in business. Solution • The first and by far the most important response is: take courage and be honest. If a family member's emotional trauma is causing bad behaviours, somebody has to own the problem and help to create a solution - the damaged individual almost certainly can't do it alone. • Don't hide reality due to personal guilt, embarrassment, or excess of protectionism - that only reinforces bad behaviours and eventually leads to explosion or implosion. I'm interested in your comments below. Thank You.

Beards are all the rage right now, but for the baby-faced, facial hair just looks wrong. Photos of my misguided mid-'90s goatee back this up. But just because you might want a hairless chin doesn't mean you want bother of shaving with a razor. Solution: The electric razor, Jacob Schick's 1923 invention and the morning savior of many a lazy man. I've used electrics exclusively for more than a decade.
Have you seen the viral Youtube video where a unicorn poops rainbow ice cream and a prince lectures on bowel health? It's ridiculous but also very relevant. Yoga students talk about their bowel movements constantly, and for good reason. It's an important indication of health, and one that many struggle with (literally). On this week's episode, Dr. Alison Chen sheds some light on the topic of bowel health, and the importance of fiber. Alison is a Canadian board-certified and licensed Naturopathic Doctor from Toronto. She integrates Western science with Traditional holistic energetic medicine to provide individualized, safe and effective natural treatments. ---------------------------------------- Listen & Learn: Why bowel health is such an important topic How much fiber is enough? And where to get it… The Squatty Potty - does it work? Simple tips for eating and drinking your way to bowel health Nutritional Tip of the Week: Is olive oil really as healthy as they say? Write to us: podcast@yogabody.com Thanks to our sponsor: 30-Day Sugar Detox w/YOGABODY THE PROBLEM: When you're trying to burn fat, get fit, increase your energy, improve your digestion and just plain feel better each day, it can be overwhelming with all the conflicting health information online. Do you start with organic food? Paleo? Raw vegan? Do you have to run marathons or is yoga a good solution? There's just too many choices and too many opinions. THE SOLUTION: The truth is that there are as many paths to exceptional health as there are trees in the forest, so rather than argue about which path is best, let's just focus on elephant in the room. Medical doctors, weight loss experts, yoga teachers, and weight lifters all agree that the single biggest troublemaker in our modern diet is excessive sugar in all its forms. It causes weight gain, diabetes, hormonal problems, premature again—and just about every other health problem you can think of. So if you want to get healthy, let's start with the one change that will give you the biggest bang for your buck. Together, let's kick the sugar habit and start a positive spiral towards health.
We have all said this at one point in time. Often the responses we recieve are: Quit Trippin-at least you have one Get a New One Instead of Being the Problem--Become the Solution The weekend will be here before you know it Lets talk about this and more. Hell, we may even find a real solution!
