A mixtape drawing together contributions from friends around the world, including folks running independent record labels, record producers, poets, community radio producers, musicians and others. All these tracks were recorded directly, drawn from community radio producers and collected directly from the artists, or through direct communication with some independent record labels. All the works were pulled together with the intention of sharing a mix that can point in a tiny way to the depth of different artistic and activist voices from around the world who have Palestine in their hearts. This mix was originally broadcast on Radio AlHara on Sunday, Feb. 16, 7am-11am eastern time, 2-6pm Palestine time, live on radioalhara.net Thank you for listening. - Stefan Christoff 01. Ben chats with one of his favorite artists in heavy music, the prolific (anti) guitarist, vocalist, and even flautist, Aidan Baker. Aidan is incredibly prolific artist who releases solo works under his own name and the epic doom gaze duo with bassist Leah Buckareff: Nadja. We learn about Aidan's early years in the punk scene growing up in a rural town near Toronto. And then after a move to Montreal his early engagement with metal. We discuss perhaps Nadja's heaviest record ever, Labyrinthine. We also talk quite a bit about Aidan's approach to songwriting and improvisation in his own work and numerous collaborations, often blurring genre boundaries.

Today's guest deejay is Aidan Baker. I came across Aidan on one of my deep dives on Bandcamp and was struck by his music. Aidan, a Canadian musician currently residing in the creative hub of Berlin, has an impressive repertoire that spans solo work and collaborations with notable groups like Nadja, Hypnodrone Ensemble, and WERL Baker's musical ingenuity is particularly evident in his experimental guitar playing style, which draws inspiration from a diverse range of artists, including Caspar Brötzmann, James Plotkin, Steve Albini, and Justin Broadrick. It's a pleasure to have him curate this episode's mix, a captivating compilation that showcases his unique musical sensibilities. Want to hear more beautiful music? Today's guest deejay is tttlllrrr. I've known tttlllrrr for over a decade. I may have met him through Solipsistic Nation, my electronic music show. I was immediately impressed with tttlllrrr's pluck. He had a vision for a genre of music that hadn't existed yet called Magicore, a mélange of metal, electronic dance music, video-game music, and Japanese pop music. Through his Magicore blog and mixes (here are ttwo you can listen to), tttlllrrr willed magicore into existence, which is in itself an act of magic. So tttlllrrr's pretty cool. Also, I like to collaborate, and tttlllrrr likes to collaborate, so we hit it off. Over the years, I've wrapped tttlllrrr into several of my harebrained schemes that are great fun, including inviting him to guest deejay on Soundwave. When tttlllrrr sent me his mix three years ago, my reaction was, “Uh…” I began Soundwave to deal with the quarantine's stress and isolation during the pandemic's early days. Ambient, classical, experimental, and instrumental music helped me through those first few months. What tttlllrrr shared was a mix that leaned hard into the experimental and instrumental and reflected tttlllrrr's personality. And it was a mix I wasn't in the headspace to listen to. So I shelved tttlllrrr's mix for a later date and, in doing so, denied tttlllrrr's expression of whatever he was thinking and feeling when he put together his mix. Not cool. But over time, Soundwave has expanded its horizons. It's mined more and more experimental and instrumental music. Christian Sager's mix is a perfect example. So at long last, here it is! Join us next week when our guest deejay will be Aidan Baker. See you then. The Huron Carol may not be especially well-known by Americans, but in Canada, this song is a national treasure! It has been performed by some of Canada's biggest recording artists, from Sarah McLachlan to Toronto Children's Chorus. For decades now, Indigenous actor and singer, Tom Jackson, has performed a Christmas benefit concert in the carol's name.   But, beloved as this carol may be, it also comes with painful historical baggage. It was written by St. Jean de Brebeuf, a Jesuit missionary and martyr who lived with the Wendat people and immersed himself in their language, culture and spirituality. It is out of this experience that Canada's Christmas carol was born. Since the mid 17th century, when Brebeuf first penned the song in Wendat, the Huron Carol has been translated and reinterpreted several times over. “Twas in the Moon of Wintertime,” is the most popular version of the carol today, but its English lyrics bears little resemblance to the original and distorts Wendat culture. To help us unpack this Christmas carol, with a history complicated by centuries of colonialism, we speak with three Canadians: Geneviève Salamone, an Indigenous violinist and activist; John Steckley, one of the foremost scholars of the Wendat language; and the Rev. Michael Knox, S.J., the director of Martyr's Shrine in Midland, Ontario. Special thanks to Geneviève Salamone for recording The Huron Carol especially for this show, and to Aidan Baker and Broken Spine Productions, Cynthia Boener, Lief Sjostrom, Don Ross, Debra Buesking, Keith Michael Roman, Brian Thiessen and Dana Lynn Seaborn, and Heather Dale for providing much of the music on this episode. While in Europe, Broderick met and worked with a wide variety of composers, singers, and songwriters including Nils Frahm, Greg Haines, Laura Gibson, Yann Tiersen, Olafur Arnalds, and Lubomyr Melnyk.Broderick was by this time an in-demand session player, engineer, and producer, but kept up a steady stream of his own work on EPs, singles, and film scores, and he accepted composition commissions for dance and the theater. Broderick provided half of many split recordings, including 2009's Blank Grey Canvas Sky with Machinefabriek, 2010's Apple Bobbing At ___ with Penelope Joy, and 2011's Glimmer with Takumi Uesaka. In 2010, Bella Union released his full-length How They Are. From 2010, Broderick's level of activity was matched only by the number of requests for his time from other artists. He contributed to 19 recordings in 2010, 12 in 2011 (including Oliveray's Wonders, one of his projects with Frahm), and ten more in 2012. He and Frahm also completed and released the first album of a three-year undertaking entitled http://www.itstartshear.com. (Interestingly, the artist withdrew from having any kind of social media account.) Broderick also issued the EP Two Songs for Banjo and Voice and the single "I Will Play This Song Once Again" b/w "These Walls of Mine" that year.Broderick was equally prolific in 2013. Among the ten recordings he contributed to were Mark Kozelek and Jimmy Lavalle's Perils from the Sea, Melnyk's Corollaries, and Nadja's Flipper. He also issued the Broderick & Broderick EP and the full-length Float: 2013 Addendum, and he scored director Rodney Evans' award-winning film The Happy Sad. The following year saw the artist move back to Portland for a time and play on recordings by Portland Cello Project, Aidan Baker, Sharon Van Etten, and Sean Flinn & the Royal We. Erased Tapes issued the Broderick and Haines split dub offering Greg Gives Peter Space, The Album Leaf (Featuring Peter Broderick) was self-released, and the eponymous Peter Broderick + Gabriel Saloman was issued by Beacon Sound. While Broderick played on over a dozen records by other artists in 2015, his own recording and touring activities were equally intense. He collaborated with French artist Félicia Atkinson as La Nuit to release Desert Television and issued the EPs X Luzern and COTN RMXD and the acclaimed full-length Colours of the Night. In 2016, Broderick cut the stripped-down piano-and-voice album Partners with Tucker Martine. (Inspired by John Cage's writings, it featured a reading of the composer's "In a Landscape.") He also produced Brigid Mae Power's acclaimed self-titled Tompkins Square debut album. The pair were married shortly thereafter and moved to Ireland. Broderick continued his productive work rate into 2017 with the release of All Together Again, which collected his commissioned works from the previous decade.https://www.peterbroderick.net/  New Music from East Forest! -"Possible" - the latest album  from East Forest - LISTEN ON YOUR FAVORITE STREAMING PLATFORM: Spotify / ApplePre-order the album on vinyl - limited edition - and check out the new Possible clothing: http://eastforest.org *** Support this free podcast by joining the East Forest COUNCIL on Patreon.  Monthly Zoom Council, Podcast exclusives, private Patreon live-stream ceremony, and more.  Check it out and a great way to support the podcast and directly support the work of East Forest! - http://patreon.com/eastforest *****Please rate Ten Laws w/East Forest on iTunes.  It helps us get the guests you want to hear.  ***Catch East Forest LIVE - Pledge your interest in the upcoming East Forest Ceremony Concert events this Spring/Summer 2021.  More info and join us at eastforest.org/tour Join the newsletter and be part of the East Forest Community. Listen to East Forest guided meditations on Spotify & Apple Check out the East Forest x Ram Dass album on (Spotify & Apple) + East Forest's Music For Mushrooms: A Soundtrack For The Psychedelic Practitioner 5hr album (Spotify & Apple). Stay in the East Forest flow:Mothership:  http://eastforest.org/IG:  https://www.instagram.com/eastforest/FB:  https://www.facebook.com/EastForestMusic/TW:  https://twitter.com/eastforestmusicPATREON: http://patreon.com/eastforest

They have a huge catalog and a nearly constant state of production, so it was great to talk to Aidan about life in Berlin, soundtrack work, books, and a 3-hour performance as the sun was coming up over a parking garage in Toronto. Nadja's new album, Luminous Rot, is out now on Southern Lord. Talking to Ghosts is produced and recorded by Michael Kurt and Wesley Mueller. Tortoise & Bonnie Prince Billy [01:01] "Love Is Love" The Brave and The Bold Overcoat Recordings OC27 2006 A solid collaboration providing a pretty good cover of an excellent Lungfish song (https://youtu.be/AkQ-N2M2_3o). B/B/S/ [22:54] "Mask" Brick Mask Miasmah MIALP022 2013 The debut from Berlin trio of Canadian Aidan Baker on guitar, Italian Andrea Belfi on drums and electronics, and Norwegian Erik Skodvin on guitar. The Blues Brothers [31:37] "Hey Bartender" Briefcase Full of Blues Atlantic SD 19217 1978 10 year old me was super into this album. This double-platinum album was recorded in LA at the Universal Ampitheater, where they were the opening act for Steve Martin. When I spotted this copy at Dog Eared Books in San Francisco for 3 bucks, I figured it was worth it for sentimental reasons at least. Silver Jews [34:36] "Slow Education" Bright Flight Drag City DC215 2001 The opening track to this engaging 2001 album. Words and music by the late, great David Berman. Pavement [37:35] "We Are Underused" Brighten the Corners Matador OLE 197-1 1997 Theme song for a generation? The fourth studio album from Pavement, which reached alllll the way up to 70 on the Top 200. It was definitely in my Top 5 for 1997. Jackie Gleason [41:49] "Wilkommen" Broadway & Hollywood Showstoppers Capitol SL-6645 Aw, I was really hoping The Great One himself would be belting this out, but evidently it's from one of his mood music collections. Aidan Baker [45:25] "Anna Broke De Dr Me" Broken & Remade Revolverman Records RMR 004 2010 A sublime album of songs built from 4-8 second samples of instruments, featuring Aidan Baker (https://brokenspineprods.bandcamp.com/) on electric, acoustic and bass guitars, flute, vocals, and synth; Richard Baker on drums; Lucas Baker on trumpet; and Sarah Gleadow on violin. Marianne Faithfull [53:47] "Broken English" Broken English Island ILPS 9570 1979 I was hoping to find a video for her infamous SNL performance of this song, but no such luck. Plus, it's better to just enjoy the song in its original format. Guided by Voices [00:58] "Echos Myron" Bee Thousand Scat Records SCAT 35 1994 One of the many classics from this canonical lo-fi album on beautiful translucent blue vinyl. If you're the sort that digs the 33 1/3 book series, there is an excellent one on this album. Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra [03:39] "Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67: Scherzo-Allegro/Allegro; Presto" Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67/Egmont Overture Op. 84/Coriolan Overture, Op. 62/Overture "Leonore" No. 3, Op. 7a Mercury MG 50017 1953 Well, the cover says Beethoven: Eroica Symphony No. 3 in E Flat Major, but instead, it's a completely different Beethoven piece by a different orchestra, on a different label. Ah well. Can't argue with free. Otto Klemperer conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra [12:52] "Symphony No. 8 in F Major, Op. 93: II. Allegretto Scherzando" Symphony No. 1 & No. 8 Angel Records 35657 1958 Supposedly this is a parody of a metronome. Gotta love musical jokes. And yes, Otto Klemperer is the father of beloved actor Werner Klemperer. Bob Dylan/The Band [18:38] "All Along the Watchtower" Before the Flood Asylum Records AB-201 1974 Some interesting items on this double live album. Some less interesting and chaotic things. All Along the Watchtower seems to be a solid symbiosis between Bob and the Band. The Rolling Stones [22:01] "Stray Cat Blues" Beggars Banquet London Records PS 539 A rockin blues number from Jagger and Richards, supposedly inspired by VU's Heroin. It also features Brian Jones on mellotron. The beginning of the end for Mr. Jones. Cannonball Adderley [26:39] "Spectacular" Beginnings Mercury EMS-2-404 1976 Recorded February 6, 1975, with Nat Adderley on cornet, Junior Mance on piano, Sam Jones on bass, and Jimmy Cobb on drums. Fine Arts Quartet [31:25] "String Quartet No. 6, I. Mesto - Più mosso, pesante - vivace/II. Mesto - Marcia" Bela Bartók Streichquartette Nr. 5 (1934) Nr. 6. (1939) Barenreiter Musicaphon BM 30 L 1803 This selection used to belong to the Djerassi Foundation in Woodside CA. I wonder which artist liberated this from their collection. Stevie Nicks [47:23] "Edge of Seventeen" Bella Donna Modern Records MR 38-139 1981 Quadruple platinum from everyone's favorite witchy woman, on the record label that Stevie co-founded with Danny Goldberg and Paul Fishkin. Nadja [52:46] "Skin Like Sand" Belles Bêtes Beta-lactam Ring Records 2009 The first of many tracks you will be hearing from the transcendent duo known as Nadja (https://nadja.bandcamp.com/music). This track is a reinterpretation of a solo project by member Aidan Baker entitled Songs of Flowers & Skin. Music behind the DJ: "Gomez" by Vic Mizzy

Peter Broderick is a prolific, genre-defying American musician, composer, and producer. He is known internationally for a diverse range of solo projects, collaborations, and compositions for cinema and dance. A gifted multi-instrumentalist who is equally versed in a wide range of styles, Broderick's extensive discography -- on a range of labels including Bella Union, Erased Tapes, Staalplaat, and Beacon Sound -- is appended by a massive list of credits that reads like a who's who of 21st century independent, classical, and experimental music.Growing up in a musical household in Portland, Oregon, Broderick learned to play several instruments. After graduating high school, he became a session musician, contributing violin, banjo, musical saw, mandolin, and other instruments to recordings by M. Ward, Zooey Deschanel, Dolorean, and Norfolk & Western, among others. His self-released debut EP, 4 Track Songs, appeared in 2006. Via his MySpace page, he befriended Danish band Efterklang, and in mid-2007 he moved to Copenhagen to work with the group. That same year, Docile, his first album of solo piano pieces, was issued by Kning Disk. Float (Erased Tapes) and Hope (Bella Union) followed in 2008. Broderick continued his productive work rate into 2017 with the release of All Together Again, which collected his commissioned works from the previous decade. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi PeterBroderick.net

Don Gardner [00:35] a side: "There's Nothing I Want to Do (Unless It's with You)" b side: "Let's Party" TNT Records TNT 500A-140 1967 Well, I reckon it should be clear to most DJs that "Let's Party" is the a-side. So it goes. However I think this is going to be a fine episode, so let's party. Tracey Ullman [05:50] a side: "They Don't Know" b side: "You Broke My Heart in 17 Places" MCA Records MCA-52347 1983 Two awesome retro tracks from Ms. Ullman. "They Don't Know" is an excellent song penned by Kirsty MacColl, who astute listeners will also be familiar with her cover of Billy Bragg's"A New England" and her vocal assistance for The Pogues' "Fairytale of New York". Talking Heads [12:56] a side: "This Must Be the Place (Naïve Melody) [stereo]" b side: "This Must Be the Place (Naïve Melody) [mono]" Sire Records 7-29451 1983 Of course we're playing both side of this promo. It doesn't get much better than this song. Fun fact: Tina Weymouth who normally played bass in the band, played guitar on this track and guitarist Jerry Harrison held down the syhth lines with a Prophet-5. Oddly this single only made it as far as number 62 on the Hot 100. INXS [20:41] a side: "This Time" b side: "I'm Over You" Atlantic Records 7-86497 1985 The second single from their album Listen Like Thieves. Just cracked the Hot 100, making it to number 81. Sparks [29:15] a side: "This Town Ain't Big Enough for Both of Us" b side: "Barbecutie" Island Records IS 001-A 1974 Unsurprisingly no chart action in the US for this top notch Sparks single, the first from their 1974 album Kimono My House. Produced by Muff Winwood, bassist for the Spencer Davis Group and of course brother to Steve. Elvis Costello [35:31] a side: "This Year's Girl" b side: "Big Tears" Columbia Records 3-10762 1978 From his 1978 album This Year's Model, accompanied by The Attractions. And Mr. Mick Jones plays guitar on the flipside "Big Tears". Archie Bell & the Drells [42:47] a side: "Tighten Up" b side: "Tighten Up Part II" Atlantic Records 45-2478 1968 The number one song from the week I was born. What's better than Tighten Up? More Tighten Up, obviously. The Guayaveras w/ Josh Thorpe a side: "Timber Piles" [47:57] Aidan Baker b side: "Once Upon a Time There Was (a Beginning and an End)" [54:53] Art Metronome 002 2010 Everything you've ever wanted to know about timber piles on the a-side, and acoustic gloriousness on the b-side. Longtime listeners of Vinyl-O-Matic will recognize Aidan Baker of Nadja as the flipside artist. Here is the 91st installment of the Dreams of Consciousness podcast, featuring an interview with Aidan Baker. Aidan Baker is a prominent figure within the world of experimental/ambient music, and his band Nadja is one of the most recognizable proponents of drone metal. Since Nadja was one of my entry points into drone, I reached out to Aidan to see if he was interested in being interviewed for this podcast. I spoke to Aidan about his musical background, the origins of Nadja, a few of his collaborations with other musicians, and his record label Broken Spine Productions. I also asked him how about how he achieves Nadja's ridiculously burnt guitar tone. My thanks to Aidan for speaking with me, and to you for listening. TRACKLIST: Nadja - "Dagdrøm" [taken from the album Dagdrøm] Nadja - "Dead Skin Mask" (Slayer cover) [taken from the covers album When I See The Sun Always Shines On TV] Nadja - "Corrupting The Host To Appease The Parasite" [taken from the Tangled EP] Nadja - "Sunwell" [taken from the album Sonnborner] Aidan Baker, Simon Goff, and Thor Harris - "Red Robin" [taken from the album Noplace] Nadja - "Long Dark Twenties" (Paul Bellini/ Kids in the hall cover) [taken from the Long Dark Twenties 7"] Aidan Baker - "Night Dive" [taken from the upcoming album The Forever Tapes]

In this episode, I talk to Sarah Lipstate, a Los Angeles-based composer, and a guitarist. We cover topics such as making a living as a musician today, marketing your work, the things Sarah is currently struggling with, the relationship between her gear and her art, and much more. Biography Sarah Lipstate is a Los Angeles-based composer, most known for Noveller, her solo electric guitar project. Handling the guitar as her muse, Lipstate summons a sonic palette so rich as to challenge the listener to conceive of how it’s housed in a single instrument manipulated by a solitary performer. In 2014, Lipstate announced her signing with Fire Records. Fire released Noveller's latest full-length 'Fantastic Planet' in January 2015 and also re-issued Noveller's critically acclaimed albums 'No Dreams' and 'Glacial Glow' in early 2016. She's previously released records on No Fun Productions, Important Records, Weird Forest, Taiga, and her own imprint Saffron Recordings. Noveller has toured with Iggy Pop, St. Vincent, Radiolab, Xiu Xiu, the Jesus Lizard, U.S. Girls, & Aidan Baker. Lipstate has collaborated with several renowned musicians, including JG Thirlwell (Foetus, Manorexia), Carla Bozulich (Evangelista, The Geraldine Fibbers), David Wm. Sims (the Jesus Lizard, Scratch Acid), Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth). She has previously performed as a member of Cold Cave, Parts & Labor, and One Umbrella. Lipstate has also participated in Rhys Chatham’s Guitar Army, Ben Frost’s “Music for 6 Guitars” Ensemble, and Glenn Branca’s 100 guitar ensemble. Josh, from Nocturne Records,  requested a Halloween mix. At first I was reluctant because I'm not a big fan of dark ambient.  I've never really cared for Lustmord records, although I do have "The Place Where Black Stars Hang."  While I do have a fair amount of drone music I don't like dissonant drones. When I set out to do this mix I wasn't sure what direction it would take.  Would it be noisy, scary ambient drones?  As I was looking through my music I came across "The Twin Peaks Archive" by David Lynch & Angelo Badalamenti.  I thought, now there is some dark-ish music that would be cool to use in a Halloween mix. Three Twins Peaks tunes made it into the final mix & helped establish a sort of film noir feel.  There are definite dissonant moments but hopefully the mix is more creepy & shadowy rather than outright scary & annoying. It was fun putting this together and I'm looking forward to making this an annual ritual. Looking out the window at a grey sky and pissing rain, I tried to invoke a few last rays of sunshine as the summer officially grinds to a halt. New tracks by Washed Out, who has been absolutely exploding across blogs, Pearl Harbour (following suit?), and Real Estate have been doing their damndest at squeezing the last dying breath out the summer. I kinda wonder if all this beach-y dream pop stuff that has been popping up like dandelions can keep coasting through until next year. Seems doubtful, though looking at the Mexican Summer release list for the next few months, which includes all 3 of the above mentioned artists, they're obviously hedging their bets that way. If it doesn't work out for 'em, at least '09 will be the year that summer crept into the 4 tracks of every bedroom savant in the land and spread rays of cheer across the blogosphere and into tape decks.Haven't checked 'em out yet, but this new-ish Vancouver band Indian Wars have been steadily getting some coverage, but outside of our own city, of course. Great stuff, I have to say. Nothing too new, but jangly, fuzzy, reverb laden garage pop with massive hooks will always perk up these ears. Coupla' shows coming up here in Vancouver, including a show on the 18th of September at some venue called The Enchanted Forest. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of this place should drop a comment below.Though some of his earlier work has left me wanting a little more, the new 2LP Dan Melchior Und Das Menace on S-S is jaw droppingly good. It's also pretty biting, with the most bite left over for a track dedicated to Williamsburg, NYC and the locust-like hipster invasion the NYC suburb has been dealing with lately. Anyways, this monster should satisfy those who loved last year's solid skewed garage-rock album Christmas For Crows.Played it on the show already, but once I heard Woven Bones has a new 12" coming in via Zoo Music, I had to play the excellent b-side off the already excellent Janie 7" from Needless Records. The Austin Texas native is on a flawless run right now, having released 3 dynamite 7"s on some of the best garage labels going right now (ie. Sweet Rot, Hozac and Needless). The 12", so I've been told, should be ready for the first week of October. You'll hear all about it here when it does drop.Speaking of having a flawless year, San Francisco's Fresh and Only's drop LP number 2 this week and it's easily as good, if not better, than their Castleface debut LP from earlier this year. The mp3's were sent my way a few weeks back, courtesy of Color Magazine, and though I don't listen to much music off my computer, this album has burned a hole in my hard drive. I'm not entirely sure how the group is able to peel off so many impossibly infectious songs (so far, the group have released 2 cassettes, 2 seven inches, 2 LPs and there is another LP on In The Red due year's end, aaaand another couple 7"s due by year's end as well. Oh, and don't forget about that Tim Cohen solo LP) but here's hoping they can keep running with it.Vancouver's Defektors are back in the city and they have a new cassettes available, featuring some covers and demos from the forthcoming LP due on Nominal sometime soon. Pretty limited run, so grab while you can...Thee Expressway has definitely shared the love for Belgium's Sloow Tapes here before, but now I've done it live on the air. Excerpts from the kraut-riddled Von Himmel, space-drone of Chicago's Drmwpn (featuring Steve Krakow of Plastic Crimewave/Galactic Zoo fame), and the ethereal forest-folk-psych of Im Jarhtal all got some airplay this week. Most of these cassettes play through as a whole, so only excerpts could be played. But, hopefully, it was enough to turn some people on to one of the best cassette outfits going.More local action: Ahna and Solars have just released a split 7", and, man, have these two put a lot of time into this package. Linocut sleeves and labels, spraypainted inner sleeves and an insert! Limited to 300 copies. Essential Vancouver power-drone/psych release. Any Canadian listeners/readers outside of Vancouver will have a ton of chances to catch Ahna as they embark on a lengthy cross-Canadian tour. Check below for those dates. The fine people at Vancouver's Ketchup Cavern passed along the test pressing for a forthcoming Robedoor 7", which should see the light of day in the next few weeks. Robedoor have been pretty quiet for most of 2009, but this new 7" see's the group stretching out a bit and amping things up. Their doom-drone vibe rooms intact but the group have added a pulse to it and come off with a bit of an Om vibe. Easily the most interesting stuff I've heard from the group (now a trio) in ages. You'll hear more about this one when it's finally ready to launch.Ketchup Cavern also has a brand new one-sided LP by Hamilton, Ontario's Fossils. Haven't had much time to sink my teeth into this one, but it should be ready for airplay for the next show.KC also have a new Sissy Spacek 7" due and two, count 'em TWO, full lengths by Aidan Baker. Keep 'em coming. In other Aidan Baker news, Nadja will be playing the Rickshaw Theatre on Saturday, October 3rd. Ahna and Empty Love both support. That one there is being presented by the skyrocketing Twee Death label and promotion group. Also in the works is a Blues Control show at Little Mountain on November 3rd, Wooden Shjips at the Anza club on Sunday, September 27, and Sic Alps with Magik Markers on Friday December 18th. All those bands will be playing Vancouver for the first time! Thanks for livening up this city a touch, Twee Death. Finally, ending the show in a typically noisy fashion, we have the brand new LP by Vancouver's The RITA, just recently released on RRR. I played the skate side, and rather than go into any details, I'll let the youtube video below do the 'splainin...Limited run on this one that, like all other RITA releases, this one will not last long.
