Most people spend twenty years climbing a mountain, reach the top, and realize they never wanted the view. In this episode of The Game Changing Attorney Podcast, Michael Mogill sits down with Robert Glazer to break down why core values are the most underused tool in leadership. They get into where your values actually come from, why you can't coach them into the people you hire, and why most leaders are measuring their teams with the wrong scorecard entirely. If you've ever hit a milestone and felt nothing, this conversation explains why, and what to do about it. Here's what you'll learn: Why your core values were set early in life, and what it costs you to lead without knowing them How to hire for the values people actually live instead of the ones they perform in interviews What separates a real company core value from a poster on the wall nobody believes in The view from the top is only worth it if you picked the right mountain to climb. Most people say they want financial breakthrough, but very few are actually walking in the faith it takes to get there. In this episode, Ray Higdon delivers a powerful and challenging message for anyone who feels stuck financially. The problem, Ray says, isn't strategy or timing. It's who you're being every single day, and whether you're truly walking in faith or just claiming to be. Ray draws on scripture, personal stories, and hard-won business experience to unpack what walking in faith actually looks like in practice. He shares the moment his company faced a $1.1 million hotel bill for a major event, how he was led to bring in John Maxwell as a speaker despite the enormous financial pressure, and why that obedience, not logic, produced the breakthrough. He also unpacks the parable of the talents, Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Isaac, and David's posture before Goliath to illustrate what genuine faith-driven decision-making looks like when the numbers don't make sense. This episode will challenge you to stop holding on so tightly to the money you have that you miss the investment God is calling you toward. If every opportunity looks like a cost instead of a door, this message is for you. Ray's raw honesty and faith-based perspective make this one of the most compelling episodes for entrepreneurs and network marketers who want God-led financial growth, not just hustle. —

The most valuable thing you can build into your firm is its ability to run without you. In this AMMA episode of The Game Changing Attorney Podcast, Michael and Jessica Mogill answer the questions most firm owners put off until it's too late. When should you really start succession planning? How do you pick a successor without letting loyalty override the right call? And how do you build something worth more than the income it generates while you're in it? Michael makes the case that a firm dependent on its owner is a firm that's quietly losing value, and he lays out what it takes to change that. Plus, he kicks things off with his favorite recent movies, shows, and books. Here's what you'll learn: Why succession planning should start at least five years out, and what happens when you wait until your back's against the wall How to separate the discomfort of a hard conversation from the decision that's actually right for the business What it takes to turn your firm into an asset that grows whether or not you show up If something happened to you tomorrow, would your firm survive without you? Are you leading from your strengths, or simply telling others what they should do? In this week's episode, John Maxwell unpacks the challenging truth that leaders don't just teach what they know—they reproduce who they are by their example. After his lesson, Mark Cole and Chris Goede provide practical strategies you can use to strengthen your self-leadership and intentionally shape the culture around you. Key takeaways:  Leading yourself effectively with authenticity and consistency can be your greatest daily challenge.  The responsibility of leadership means modeling growth and resilience so your team mirrors your example, not just your instructions.  What people observe in you determines what they become—leadership is visual, and proximity matters for genuine reproduction. Not every great leader is loud. And not every thriving church is built by a hyper-competitive, type-A personality. In Episode 217 of the Fly on the Wall Podcast, Chris sits down with Pastor Rob for an incredibly honest conversation about leadership, personality, AI, church finances, and what it really looks like to lead from who God actually made you to be.Because a lot of pastors quietly wrestle with this question:“Am I enough to lead something significant if I'm not the loudest, most driven person in the room?”Chris tackles that head-on—and the conversation that follows is one of the most refreshing episodes we've had in a while. Here's some of what they unpack:Why personality type does not determine ministry impactHow introverted or non-type-A leaders can still build thriving ministriesThe importance of surrounding yourself with extraordinary leadersWhy big vision matters—even for quieter personalitiesHealthy ways pastors can stay connected to people without becoming the lid on the churchA practical conversation around AI in ministry and where healthy boundaries should existChurch budgeting principles every pastor should understandHow strong churches think about staffing, reserves, and long-term sustainabilityCreative ideas churches are using right now to improve follow-up and guest engagementOne of the most powerful moments in the episode:“God made you the way you are, and you can excel in the way God made you.”Chris also shares a challenging insight he once heard from John Maxwell—that corporate leaders are often more hungry to grow and improve than pastors are. That part of the conversation alone is worth the listen. This episode is practical, thoughtful, and deeply encouraging for pastors who sometimes feel like they don't fit the stereotypical leadership mold.

Two callers, two problems every practice owner runs into. The first is a self-described systems guy whose team keeps reverting to old habits two weeks after every meeting, vision cast, and lunch-and-learn. The second is an associate who just carved out one day a week away from the chair and wants to know how to actually use it. Peter and Craig push back on both. To the first caller: "I've tried everything" is the language of defeat, and the issue usually isn't the team, it's leadership, incentives, and whether you've ever asked your people what they actually want. To the second: an admin day isn't the same as working on the business, and stacking marketing or payroll onto a practice with a leaky recare rate or unanswered phones is just stepping over dollars to grab pennies. Find the real constraint first. Along the way: why incentives beat vision casting, the John Maxwell line on leaders with no followers, anonymous team surveys, finding your big rocks before your sand, and why the owner's psychology is so often the chokehold of the business. This episode flips the script on hustle culture and the lie that loving your work means never getting tired. I break down how I actually measure whether I had a good day, and it has nothing to do with clients, raises, or results. I also share something John Maxwell said that changed how I think about who deserves my time and energy. If you have been grinding yourself into the ground or feeling guilty for needing rest, this episode will give you a new framework and the permission to recharge without losing your edge. Key Takeaways A good day is measured by whether you made a difference, not by the results or rewards you received. Fatigue is a privilege. It means you gave everything to something that matters to you. If you love what you do, you will get tired faster because you are pouring more of yourself into it. Waking up with the same passion you went to bed with is the real marker of alignment with your work. Rest is not a weakness. The people worth respecting know when to work and when to recover. Action Steps At the end of each day this weekend, ask yourself one question: did I make a difference in someone else's life? Let that be your scorecard. Identify one person in your circle who also wants to make a difference and intentionally invest more time and energy into that relationship. Schedule deliberate rest this weekend. Treat it as part of your performance strategy, not a break from it. Notable Quote If you love what you do, you're pouring so much into it that you are going to get tired probably at a faster rate. But the difference is you wake up the next day with the same passion you went to bed with.

Myth: Leaders need to be balanced. Fact: Together, you and your team can be balanced. In this week's episode, John Maxwell reveals why the dream team isn't about perfection in individuals, but about creating collective balance through diversity of skills, passion, and perspective. After his lesson, Mark Cole and Chris Goede dig into high-level strategy for building a team where everyone's strengths thrive and the leader's vision multiplies. Key takeaways:  A balanced team is built on diverse strengths—no single leader can or should do it all alone. Exceptional leaders replace assumptions with curiosity, listening and learning from their team before leading.  The most successful teams are intentionally shaped through shared values, growth, and a genuine commitment to multiplying each other's impact. At what point does believing in someone's potential stop being leadership and start being a liability? In this episode of The Game Changing Attorney Podcast, Michael and Jessica Mogill answer three listener questions about one of the hardest tensions in leadership: the gap between what you see in your people and what they actually deliver. They walk through how to handle a high-talent, low-output team member, how to recognize when a long-tenured leader has plateaued, and whether the popular idea of "unlimited potential" actually holds up. Believing in your team is valuable, but does it replace standards and results? Here's what you'll learn: Why potential without performance becomes a liability, and how to set objective criteria before emotion drives the decision How to know when a team member has hit their ceiling and what to do about it without losing empathy Why "unlimited potential" is a myth, and what a leader can actually be responsible for You can want it for them all day long. Where is your finish line? Trick question—your growth doesn't need to have one. In this week's episode, John Maxwell reveals how to cultivate a forward-focused mindset that unleashes continual development and lasting impact.  After his lesson, Mark Cole and Chris Robinson provide practical strategies to help you step out of the past and anticipate a future filled with possibility!  Key takeaways: — Finish lines are self-imposed—when you decide you're done, you limit your future; growth and contribution continue as long as you focus forward. — What you focus on expands: holding on to regret or past failures keeps you stuck, but embracing gratitude and learning unlocks new potential. — True fulfillment comes not from personal success, but from shifting to significance—using your achievements to add value to others and pioneer new possibilities.  Our BONUS resource for this episode is the Better Days Are Ahead of You Worksheet, which includes fill-in-the-blank notes from John's teaching. What happens when strong leaders slowly stop speaking? In this reflective solo episode, Dr. Darrin Peppard explores the hidden cost of compliance-based leadership cultures and the long-term impact they can have on trust, alignment, and organizational health.Drawing from personal leadership experiences, conversations with leaders around the country, and John Maxwell's “Law of the Lid,” Darrin unpacks what happens when high-capacity leaders find themselves working in environments driven more by control and compliance than collaboration and alignment. This episode is not about criticizing leaders. It's about understanding how organizational cultures develop, why strong leaders sometimes disengage quietly, and how intentional alignment work can help teams rebuild trust and move forward together. In this episode, Darrin discusses:The difference between compliance-based and alignment-based leadershipJohn Maxwell's “Law of the Lid” and how it impacts organizationsWhy strong leaders often become quieter instead of combativeThe emotional and cultural impact of low-trust leadership environmentsHow political behavior and silence slowly erode healthy cultureWhy leadership alignment matters more than forced complianceThe importance of creating trust, contribution, and shared ownershipHow leaders can still positively influence culture within their sphereKey Takeaways:Compliance may create short-term control, but alignment creates long-term health.Silence inside leadership teams is often a warning sign, not a sign of agreement.Healthy organizations allow honest dialogue, healthy tension, and contribution.Leadership culture outlives individual leaders—for better or worse.Alignment work is intentional work.SponsorThis episode is sponsored by HeyTutor.HeyTutor partners with schools and districts nationwide to provide evidence-based high-dosage tutoring support in Math and ELA while helping schools remain intentional about staff capacity and student support systems.Learn more here: HeyTutor

“Send Coach John a message”For my last pre-recorded, post surgery episode (hopefully), I'm leaning on a legend.  John C. Maxwell (@TheJohnCMaxwell) is someone that has been around for a very long time. I remember for most of my life knowing who this guy is and finding my way to being connected to his teachings. This one is a gem that he shares with us today. “The only guarantee that tomorrow is going to be better than today is that you're growing right now.”  Let this clip sink in a bit. Listen to it a couple of times. In our growth during tough times, we have the choice of learning from those moments, in order for us to have a better tomorrow. This is something that I know I need to do more of - especially during my recovery from my surgery. Not easy times right now. Painful times right now. But I know I'm getting better from what I had to go through. This lesson I need to keep leaning on, stay connected to, because I know there will be other tough times to get through and to learn from as I'm going through them. You know what??  The same goes for you. The same goes for everyone. We just need to remember this for our moments of tough times so that we can grow from what we learn about going through them.  Here's to better tomorrows. Everyone around us gets better when we grow!  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.  ** I would appreciate anyone to try clicking on the top of the show notes where it says "Send us a text" to leave a few thoughts / comments / questions.  It's a new feature that I'd like to see how it works. **

Key takeaways:  Before you can add value to others, you must recognize and develop the unique value you bring to the table.  Valuing what you do—and the people you serve—is the foundation for authentic influence and sustained growth.  Leaders multiply their impact by continuously growing themselves and intentionally focusing on what is best for others, not just them. In this episode of the Transformative Leadership Summit, Jethro sits down with Kyle Palmer, principal of Lewis and Clark Elementary, to explore how school leaders can develop teacher leaders and build a culture of trust and innovation. Kyle shares the story of how his school evolved from a single maker space initiative—sparked by library teacher Angela Rosheim's genius hour instruction—into a school-wide culture of student-centered learning, STEM integration through Project Lead The Way (PLTW), and maker spaces throughout the building. Central to the conversation is Kyle's philosophy of tight/loose leadership: being firm on learning outcomes and collaborative team expectations while giving teachers genuine autonomy in how they get there. He discusses the power of highly functioning PLCs, the importance of developing leaders (not just followers—a concept drawn from John Maxwell), and why trust, listening, and consistent feedback are the keys to empowering staff. Kyle leaves principals with a simple but powerful action step: go ask your best teachers what they think.
