Every episode will primarily focus on the lifelong journey of expanding your knowledge of leadership, and I will try to give you a daily takeaway to put what you learn into action. My goal is that you learn something that you can take immediate action on, and see how powerful expanding your leadership can be. Have you ever wondered why it's so difficult for a group of leaders to norm or be consistent? Well, it's because every leader is unique and has their own style and way of leading their team. By coming together and forming a bond in your organizations leadership team, you can begin norming better than ever before. I use the DISC assessment with every client and team I work with and have found it to be a real game-changer for the entire team. This is certainly no different when you have a group of leaders together. In order for them to work together in unison, they have to begin by knowing each other very well. That's where the DISC comes in, so I will mix the DISC behavioral styles in throughout this series. I am a DISC Certified Trainer and Consultant and have worked with behavioral styles for over 20 years. I am certified through the John Maxwell Leadership Team and have worked with hundreds of teams. It's about mentoring somebody on a path to take them from where they are to where they should be and where they want to be.” (Bo)“People may dream in different languages, or they have different accents or even different cultures, but the heartbeat of the person is the same.” (Bo)“Every man and woman that I interviewed said the five same words: vision, courage, perseverance, responsibility, and character.” (Bo)“Courage is not something you find. Courage is something that finds you and it finds you because you're prepared for it.” (Bo)“Confidence is born through repetition, and repetition at its core is practice. And the art of practice is the art of failing.” (Bo)“If you have to be the God, you'll never be the guy. If you're willing to shine that spotlight on other people and uplift them and recognize them and make them the guy, you'll always be the guy.” (Bo)“Most problems are not product related. When it comes to life and leadership, one of the wisest pieces of advice comes from John Maxwell: "You have to start with yourself." At first glance, this idea might seem counterintuitive. We often associate growth and progress with working on our relationships, our career, or our finances. However, John says that these achievements are all rooted in intentionally developing ourselves. Afterall, we cannot give what we do not have. John teaches that success begins with understanding ourselves and knowing our purpose, vision, and values. We must become the kind of person who can fulfill those ambitions and bring them to reality. So, in this week's episode, John Maxwell shares some simple and timeless truths about why we need to start with ourselves. Then, Mark Cole and Traci Morrow discuss John's lesson, how they're applying it to their own life and leadership, and why starting with yourself can even build resilience during the toughest leadership seasons. Our BONUS resource for this episode is the “Start with Yourself Worksheet,” which includes fill-in-the-blank notes from John's teaching.
