Today host Jack Russo is joined by guest Jack Balletto for a deep dive into the roots and unique culture that shaped Silicon Valley. The conversation explores the region's evolution from its early military contracts to its role as a tech hub. Balletto reflects on the influential figures like Bob Noyce and Gordon Moore, whose work at Fairchild Semiconductor and Intel laid the groundwork for modern computing. They discuss how Silicon Valley's openness to new ideas, rapid execution, and the absence of restrictive non-compete agreements allowed talent to flourish and innovation to thrive. The episode also touches on how early tech companies like Atari and Apple played pivotal roles in transforming high-tech ideas into consumer products. Through engaging stories, Jack Russo and Jack Balletto provide insight into the collaborative and fast-paced spirit that has defined the Valley's growth and continued influence. Evan Damiano (center) with (l-r) Dan, Melissa and Chris. Evan Damiano, winemaker at Marchelle Wines, joins Steve Jaxon and Dan Berger on California Wine Country today. Marchelle Wines is Greg La Follette's label and he was on CWC earlier this year on February 9, on this epiode. Also in the studio today are Melissa Galliani, GM of Wine Country Radio and Chris DiMatteo, producer of this podcast, who has brought and uncorked a 1985 Barolo he has been holding for thirty years. Evan Damiano started working with wine in 2010 when he worked a harvest in Oregon, then in Australia, at Balletto and then he took a “sojourn” to Milwaukee to try brewing, but that didn't work out. While living in Milwaukee, he sold high end Cabernets to restaurants, including some prestigious Napa Valley names. The pandemic wrecked his business when everything closed. He wanted to get back into wine and got an offer from Pride Mountain Vineyards. But in 2020, the fires affected them so much that there was no wine to be made. Evan emailed his friend Greg La Follette. Evan had met Greg when he worked selling wine, Greg's wines were in his portfolio. He got a job in another winery and in the evening he was helping out at Greg's winery. Evan got to do more and more under Greg's supervision and eventually became assistant winemaker then fully titled winemaker. J&H Estates, Marchelle Wines and Evan's winemaking lineage Evan is making some wines now where he is making the picking decisions as well as doing the winemaking. They did a whole-cluster press into new barrels. J & H Estates is owned by two African-American women partners. Evan has brought a bottle of Chardonnay that he made for their label. Greg La Follette's label is Marchelle Wines, where Evan is the winemaker now. Greg was the last apprentice of André Tchelitscheff and Evan is the last apprentice of Greg La Follette. Evan is proud of this lineage. Click the logo to visit our sponsor Rodney Strong for info on the 2024 Summer Concert series. Dan Berger has brought a bottle of his now award-winning Bahl Fratty Riesling. This 2022 has just won a Gold Medal at the Sunset International Wine Competition. They ask Chris to describe it in Italian, which he does. “Proprio secco!” means “really dry!” Quanto costa? (How much does it cost?) Dan Berger answers, $38, having understood the Italian question. Bravo Dan! Click the logo to visit our sponsor Davis Bynum Wines. The 1985 Barolo Chris has brought a bottle of Barolo from 1985, so at 39 years, one of the oldest wines, if not the oldest wine we have ever tasted on this show. Dan Berger waxes eloquent to describe it. Barolo is known for being able to last this long and this one has survived its 39 years with deep complex flavors. Chris does a jazz radio show called This is Jazz broadcast on Radio Morcote International and this week's show is a Steve Jaxon tribute show. Steve Jaxon did a show called Swingin' with Sinatra and Chris' show this week uses some of Steve Jaxon's voice work and music programming. You can listen to the weekly one-hour This is Jazz show here at the Radio Morcote International site's "podcast" page, scroll down to the third item. Find the dropdown menu for several weeks of older shows. Evan will be pouring Marchelle Wines at Big West Vine Fest at Solar Punk Farms in Guerneville this weekend. It is a new wine festival that is attracting a young crowd. And Dan will be there too pouring his Riesling. Taste of Sonoma is happening Saturday June 22, 2024. Here is a link to the radio report on CWC from the 2023 Taste of Sonoma. Evan pours a barrel sample of a Cab that he is about to bottle. Then Dan opens a California Barbera. It's different than the Italian Barberas. It is good, but in a different way. Piedmont is cooler so the local Barbera isn't as strong as this California one. It's warmer here so the Barbera is stronger than the usual common everyday Italian Barbera.

We are now featuring a great wine from Balletto vineyards and Winery each week. This week we have opened the long awaited new vintage of their Sav Blanc. Recently Anthony Beckman and I enjoy some great dishes with these wines ,at valette Healdsburg. A dry, crisp and lovely expression of Sauvignon Blanc. The wine is underestimated and elegant with a driving acidity that's quenched by a generous and surprisingly lush mid-palate that brings a tense, perfect balance to this wine. The aromas are graceful with a combination of limy tropical fruit and a touch of classic Sauvignon Blanc earthiness. It's bright and savory, tart and lush all in the same package. The wine is completely dry with zero residual sugar to hide behind. It's a pure example of how good Sauvignon Blanc can be. Founder and owner John Balletto started the business after the untimely death of his father in 1977. At the age of 17, when the family needed him the most, he put their needs before his own and relinquished several college athletic scholarship offers so he could stay home and help his mother, Hazel, run the small five-acre farm. The Balletto family was determined to make the business a success, and throughout the 1980s and 1990s they purchased parcels of land to gradually increase vegetable production. One of those properties is where the Balletto Vineyards winery stands today. By 1994, the Balletto family had grown the business into the largest vegetable farm in Northern California, growing more than 70 different vegetables on 700-plus acres. More than two million cases of mixed vegetables moved through the premises per year during its peak. Please now click on the link below, and join us as we feature a great interview with Anthony Beckman. Cheers! Click here and join us as we enjoy great food and wine .
In this episode, Gary "Tiger" Balletto, Gary "Batman" Balletto, and Aiden Balletto speak about their upcoming boxing matches on March 25th at The Park Theatre in Cranston, Rhode Island.
Dan Berger & Kerry Damskey Williamson Wines winemaker Kerry Damskey is back on California Wine Country with Steve Jaxon and Dan Berger. The last time he was on CWC was this episode of March 21, 2018. Kerry is an independent winemaking consultant with clients around the world under the name Terroir Artisan Wines. Before we begin, Dan Berger has brought another Cellar Dweller to discover and discuss, a 2016 Tercos and comes from Argentina. The grape is Torrantes. It was really floral and tropical when he first tasted it and now it is drier. The location is at the foot of the Andes in the Mendoza region. When Dan visited there, it was in the middle of their summer and there was snow on the distant Andean peaks. The aromatic profile of this varietal is roses, citrus and melon. It was not supposed to be aged this long but Dan lost it in the cellar. The importer is in San Francisco so this wine is more available in the Bay Area than anywhere else. Williamson Wines The Williamson winery was founded in 1980. The founders Don and Bill Williamson are the great grand-children of immigrants transported to Australia in 1788. Their home vineyard is in Dry Creek but they source fruit from all over Sonoma County. Kerry's first vintage for Williamson was 2006. Click the logo to visit our sponsor Bottle Barn online for the coolest bargains on wine, beer and spirits. Kerry Damsey grew up in Berkeley and went to UC Davis for viticulture and enology. He worked overseeing a large winery in Lodi, then moved to San Diego County where he met Dan Berger. He was the winemaker in a new winemaking area outside San Diego County that his wife said looked like the moon. Gamay was Dan's favorite wine that Kerry makes and Kerry is making Gamay again now, with his son. Williamson Wines has a tasting room for the public and another one that is exclusively for their reserve wines. They are in Healdsburg on Matheson Street. Tasting Williamson Wines The first wine is a 2021 Pinot Noir, called Passion. The fruit comes predominately from the Vine Hill area of Russian River Valley. Its typicity is rose petal flavors. It is very young but the ripe cherry flavors are prominent. Dan thinks it will be better after a couple of years. 2021 was a perfect vintage. There were no fires, a drought year, so a small crop. It's Pinot Noir heaven there, near Dehlinger, Merry Edwards and Emeritus (and Balletto). “Vine Hill Road is probably right at the top.” They do a sparkling Malbec and a sparkling Shiraz. Dan explains that the tannins in red wines make them difficult to make sparkling. Kerry explains how he does it. The Williamson tasting room has mostly red wines but they also do some Riesling, Charnonnay and Gewurtztraminer. See the website for the latest offerings. They do a seated tasting with wine and selected cheeses and food bites. Tastings begin every 90 minutes from 11am-5pm daily. They also have an unusual selection of fine cheeses. They also taste a wine called Ravish, from 2014. This would be a wine from the reserve tasting room. It is a Bordeaux blend mostly Merlot, with some Cabernet Franc. Appellation is Dry Creek Valley. It is a dark color but softer with lower tannins.
Dan, Harry and Anthony. Balletto Vineyards winemaker Anthony Beckman is our guest on California Wine Country today, with Dan Berger and Harry Duke. Steve Jaxon is away today. Anthony has been on the show before, the last time was this show in August of 2019. Balletto Vineyards today has more than 800 acres of vines and produces all of its own wine from its own grapes. They were a very successful vegetable farm before deciding to convert to growing grapes. Dan Berger describes his favorite photograph of himself, in which he is holding two wine glasses, taken in one of the Balletto vineyards. Anthony Beckman has brought three bottles to taste and discuss, all from the Sexton Hill vineyard. There is a 2019 Chardonnay and two Pinot Noirs, one from 2019 and the other is a 2011. They grow many varietals and use about 10% of the grapes to make their own wine. They sell the rest to other winemakers. Sexton Hill is on the road out of Santa Rosa toward Sebastopol. Anthony remembers John Balletto bringing him a map of it and told him he wanted him to design the vineyard. It turned out to be one of the best places possible to grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It was an old apple orchard. He was excited because they knew it was an ideal site for world class wine. The first crop was made into the 2011 and this is the Sexon Hill Pinot Noir from that year. First, the Chardonnay. They taste the Chardonnay first. Dan Berger says that it is such a cold area that planting Chardonnay was considered a risk, but, “it panned out like a charm.” The Chardonnay is the 2019 Sexton Hill Vineyard, native yeast ferment, native ML ferment, all done in oak. The acidity gives it weight and balance. Dan says the aromatics have some tropical fruit and the traditional citrus notes, but it's already 3 years old and while it may benefit from further aging, it is ready now. It is wrong to assume that white wines aren't for aging. A good 10-year-old Chardonnay is a revelation to most people. It's understandable that if people spend $50 on a bottle of wine they want to drink it right away. Click the logo to visit our sponsor Bottle Barn online for the coolest bargains on wine, beer and spirits. Anthony Beckman describes the career he left in order to get into wine. He was a project manager in San Francisco but knew it was time to make a big change. The advisor at UC Davis told him to go work a harvest before deciding to study enology. He did that at Quivera in Dry Creek and fell in love with the process. He went right from there to New Zealand and then back to take all the science classes he needed to get into Davis. While at Davis he worked at Taylor's market in Sacramento where he was the wine buyer. In 2002-2003 he was stocking Balletto wines. Next, the Pinot Noirs Next they taste the 2011 Pinot Noir from the Sexton Hill. Anthony says it had the strongest tannins of any Pinot Noir he had ever seen, so he had to adjust his technique. Dan says it is delicious, soft and silky and that it has matured very well. The 2019, next up, also had great acidity and promises to age well. This 2019 right now is exuberant like a 2-year-old child. Dan tastes the future in this wine. The color is light, which Dan prefers. Normally a wine like this would be $75 dollars but it sells for $50. All the Balletto Vineyards single-vineyard wines are only available at the vineyard. But their bigger productions are at Bottle Barn and in retail locations and restaurants all over Sonoma County and northern California.

We have enjoyed many great wines recently with Valette Healdsburg. Today we have two great red wines and Harry Byran will pour these wines for us. First let's check out the tasting notes on these great wines from Balletto Vineyards and Winery. Determined to overcome the adversity John and Terri set their sights on the wine grape growing business. The family already owned 35 acres of vineyards on their home ranch in the western hills of Sebastopol. Subsequently, they converted all of their vegetable farming land to estate vineyards over a three-year period-planting primarily Pinot Noir and Chardonnay-and started selling fruit to well-known wine producers in Sonoma County. First we will open the Teresa's Chardonnay. Teresa's Chardonnay continues to define California's Unoaked Chardonnay category. Crisp and vibrant, yet amazingly luscious. It showcases how Chardonnay does not need flashy oak to be distinct and delicious. The wine is focused with intensely bright and lifted citrus and melon aromas that are offset with savory tones that add complexity and pleasure to the aromatics. Then comes the texture, balance and persistence. It's mouthwatering with refreshing acidity that contrasts its surprisingly robust and weighted mid-palate. Slight tannins add subtle tension and pull the wine into a persistent, serious finish. We will also open the great single vineyard BCD Pinot Noir! Bright and dark simultaneously, with mocha and earth aromas playing off fresh cherries. It has a wide and silky palate, booming aromas and just enough acidity and tannins to pull the wine through to a long and lasting finish. It's quite a ride. Under the initial aromas is a distinct and interesting spice undertone that aromatically lifts the wine, but it's the mid- palate weight, texture and perfect touch of acidity that define it. It's full and coating, start to finish, wave upon wave of pinot pleasure. These wines are vewry special and extremely food friendly! We love enjoying the great menu of Valette Healdsburg, and love the staff and owners. Valette was born from two brothers' lifelong dream of creating a unique dining experience in our hometown of Healdsburg. Our goal is to provide a canvas for local farmers, winemakers and artisans to showcase their crafts. Chef Dustin Valette began his restaurant career at the age of thirteen washing dishes at Catelli's in his hometown of Geyserville, California. Two years later he took an apprenticeship at Chateau Souverain, a Francis Ford Coppola Estate, where he worked under Executive Chef Martin Courtman, – beginning the twenty-plus year culinary journey toward his dream of opening a restaurant dedicated to showcasing the rich bounty and beautiful ingredients of his Sonoma County roots. Today we will enjoy the cuisine of Chef carlos at Guiso latin Fusion! Let's check out the tasting notes on our two feature wines and then enjoy Chef Carlos's Pairing off his great menu! Our first wine is the Old Vine Zinfandel from Rodney strong Vineyards! Fresh, bright berry fruit form our heritage Russian River vineyard, combined with the ripe, peppery jam from our Alexander Valley and Dry Creek vineyards, make for a wonderful diversity of flavor, showcasing the best that Zinfandel can offer. This wine boasts notes of blackberry, plum and boysenberry with a touch of red fruit jam and creamy vanilla. Enjoy this Zinfandel now with spiced short ribs, pulled pork sandwiches or a barbeque chicken pizza. I love this wine and it is a perfect food wine for this amazing cuisine. When Rod Strong first acquired benchland acreage on Westside Road just behind the winery, he wisely chose to leave untouched, the 15 acres of old, gnarled Zinfandel vines that had been thriving since 1904. Today, we still harvest Zinfandel from those same old vines, along with a handful of vineyards we farm to the north in Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. Next we will open the great Syrah from Balletto Vineyards and Winery. This is a single vineyard wine and really aperfect wine for Chef carlos's dishes. the BCD Syrah is a work of art! This Syrah opens with classic-cool climate aromatics. The first impression is lightly smoked bacon, earth and savory spices. A core of dark fruit follows and holds the wine together without overstepping. it's complex and elegant. Then there's a tart blackberry foundation that runs from start to finish and is a reminder that this wine is grown in a cool site. It has medium viscosity and finishes with notable, just-strong-enough tannins that lengthen the finish and pull for the next sip. With just enough of everything tightly balanced together, the wine shows its seriousness and the potential to age well. It should develop in the bottle for the next five (or more) years. “The goal of the Russian River Valley ‘neighborhood initiative' is to showcase the diversity and uniqueness of the Russian River AVA...We are seeking to explain the varying complex and sophisticated wine profiles coming out of this special region.” we have two great wines and the pairings are truly incredible! We refuse to compromise on quality in our restaurant. That's why we source our fresh ingredients from local farmers' markets. Guiso Latin Fusion is a family owned bistro style restaurant serving authentic Latin American and Caribbean dishes . I have really enjoyed these first features with Chef carlos and look forward to many new features in the very near future! Now jioin us as we click on the link below and listen to this great new feature with two of Sonoma County's best wineries and a local chef super star! Cheers! We have great new features with chef Carlos at Guiso Latin fusion! We will feature a great single vineyard Pinot Noir from Balletto Vineyards and Winery. We will start with the amazing Sav Blanc from Davis Bynum. Let's check out the tasting notes on these two wines and enjoy this great food and wine pairing with Chef Carlos. First let's look at the tasting notes for the BCD Pinot Noir. This wine is incredible and will soon be a new favorite for you. We also have opened and will start with the Sav Blanc from Davis Bynum! The first to produce single vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir in 1973, Davis Bynum was instrumental in bringing the prestige to Russian River Valley vineyards, still acclaimed as one of California's finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir growing regions. Today, almost 50 years later, the heritage of Davis Bynum lives on through the hand-crafted creation of wines grown exclusively in Russian River Valley. 2020 was notable for being another dry growing season, with only a few showers in the spring, milder weather through most of the year, lower yields at harvest, and wildfires on the horizon. The dry season and judicious irrigation created smaller leaves and canopy area, so the fruit acclimated to receiving more light exposure than normal. We hand-picked Virginia's Block at 23.3 brix in the cool early morning hours of September 9. We like to highlight the ripe fruit characteristics of Virginias Block while maintaining the acidity for the structure of the wine. The fruit was lightly pressed and settled overnight before being innoculated with yeast and transferred to a combination of Acacia puncheons, two year old French oak barrels and stainless steel drums for fermentation. Each component was tasted and blended to highlight the very best characteristics of the fruit. To preserve this wines bright acidity, it does not undergo malolactic fermentation. The finished blend is gently fined and was bottled in mid-February. Chef Carlos knows all about our loyal local eaters all over the world visitors! Guiso a "jewel box of a restaurant" when it opened in 2015. It seems OpenTable reviewers agree. The small Healdsburg restaurant may only have a handful of tables, but its mix between Caribbean and Salvadorian cuisine provides miles of worldly flavor.Chef Carlos offers a great new cuisine features to pair with these great wines. Cheers! Click here and join us as we enjoy great food and wine .
Gary has done it all. He gives us a little insight and shares the way he has continued to make his life successful after his accident about nine years ago that left him quadriplegic. A success in boxing, a success in real estate and a success in live as a father. Something you definitely want to hear.
Our guest on California Wine Country with Steve Jaxon and Dan Berger today didn't make it to the studio, so, the podcast will be about two wines that Dan Berger has brought in, one young Rosé and another "cellar dweller" from his extensive personal wine cellar. And we'll end with a phone call from Barry Herbst. The harvest in California was over two weeks ago in Sonoma County but only ended today, Nov. 17, in Monterey County, where they just harvested their last grapes this morning. It is very cool in the Central Coast this year. The 2021 vintage will be rather different there, compared to Sonoma County. The Central Coast is huge, in terms of acreage, from Santa Barbara to Livermore. The first tasting is a 2020 Rosé, from Kelby Russell, a winemaker in New York state. It is made from Cabernet Franc which Dan likes. This winery is located in the Finger Lakes region of New York state, which is a great place to visit if you're a wine lover. Dan's other wine is a real "cellar dweller," a 2004 Frog's Leap Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon. The producer, John Williams, is committed to making balanced wines, so the alcohol is low, 13.6%. He likes it because it smells and tastes like Cabernet Sauvignon, just as it is supposed to. The taste matches the aroma. There are hints of pipe tobacco, black cherry and plum. "It's got everything" Click the logo to visit our sponsor Bottle Barn online. Barry Herbst, the wine buyer at Bottle Barn, calls in on the phone to talk to Steve Jaxon, Dan Berger and Harry Duke. Bottle Barn is our longtime sponsor and Barry Herbst joins us on the show regularly to talk about all the new wines showing up in their vast and sometimes astounding stock. The Beaujolais Nouveau is out starting tomorrow. The Harvest Fair winners are still on sale and Rosé is featured year-round now, so they always have a good selection of Rosé from France, California and sometimes elsewhere. The Thursday prior to Thanksgiving is the Beaujolais Nouveau release date. The French wine regulators set this rule, and it is in the contracts with distributors and retailers. Dan thinks that Beaujolais Nouveau is frivolous wine, it's too fresh to have much character. But people like the idea of "new wine" or "vin de l'année" and in France, the release date is a popular party event in homes, bars and restaurants. Bottle Barn always has all the local producers who have anything at retail, including the major local brands such as Alexander Valley Vineyards, Pedroncelli and Balletto, wines from all the local AVAs, a deep selection of imported varietals not easy to find anywhere else, as well as a vast selection of beers, sake and spirits. Occasionally Bottle Barn will purchase an entire cellar from a collector and those selections are sometimes once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to find rare and older wines. Bottle Barn is open 10-6 seven days a week.
A beautiful early summer evening and we are enjoying patio dinning at La Gare French Restaurant. We have three great new features with Anthony Beckman. We will look at the tasting notes of each wine and then click on the links at the bottom of this feature, and join us as we discuss each wine. first we open the new vintage of the 2015 Brut Sparkling wine. a great wine, and the new vintage is amazing! 2015 Sparkling Brut Rosé The coral color sets the stage, and the tiny, persistent bubbles confirm that this is a serious sparkler. The aromas are integrated and full with a dollop of cherry-strawberry that highlights the core mineral focus. Delicate, pretty & delicious. The wine is full flavored and textured throughout, and the finish is crisp and lasting with a wonderful tickling-bubble sensation. A light, yeasty mid-palate — with both weight and flavors — lifts and carries this wine to the finish. we also have two great Pinot Noirs .First the 2018 BCD Single Vineyard Pinot Noir. this wine is now a new favorite of mine, and soon to be a new favorite of yours! 2018 Pinot Noir -BCD Pinot Noir! Bright and dark simultaneously, with mocha and earth aromas playing off fresh cherries. It has a wide and silky palate, booming aromas and just enough acidity and tannins to pull the wine through to a long and lasting finish. It's quite a ride. It's full and coating, start to finish, wave upon wave of pinot pleasure. And let's open another great single Vineyard Pinot Noir! Balletto has many single Vineyard Pinot Noirs. 2017 Pinot Noir - Winery Block There's something alluring and fascinating in this wine. Each year, the Winery Bock produces a boisterous, booming-out-of-the-glass pinot that achieves an elevated seriousness through a wonderful structure, balance and intensity. It shows focused dark-berry liqueur blended with equal parts earthiness, savory dried rose petal and low-level mocha and spice aromas. They all hit at once. And wow, it's a knockout. Recently I met up with John Balletto and we decided to visit our great friend Chef Roger At La Gare. We enjoyed afew wines and chef paired all wines with dishes from his menu.It was a beautiful fall night, with a chill in the air but we were surrounded by the warmth of the heat lamps on La Gare's amazing patio. we have three great new features to share from that evening.first we will explore the Balletto website and learn more about our four feature wines. Tonight we will start with the great Pinot Gris From Balletto Vineyards and winery. Texture and persistence define this top-tier Pinot Gris. It's focused with crisp acidity and yet still maintains a powerful weight and presence throughout. Simply delightful. Aromatically, the wine opens with citrus and delicate slate aromas followed with darker, savory elements. The mouthfeel is a contrast of zingy lime, perfect viscosity and subtle tannins that add texture and extend the wine through an incredible and lengthy finish with both texture and flavor. This has become a favorite of mine and will pair with many great starters from Chef Roger's menu. We then will open the russian river Pinot Noir and the Cider Ridge single vineyard Pinot Noir. 2018 Pinot Noir - RRV Estate Balletto's Russian River Valley Pinot Noir exhibits everything you would expect from a serious point. It combines full and captivating aromatics with a delicate texture that defines the Balletto style of Pinot Noir. The wine itself is full of contradictory forces: it's weighty with a luscious mid-palate, but also surrounded by notable tannins and acidity that keep it focused, balanced and taut. It has plenty of dark fruit, but it is also layered with savory earth and spices that offset it. The overall impact is complex, impressive and delicious. The cider Ridge pinot Noir was amazing and a treat to drink. This dark and intense Pinot Noir shows powerful aromatics with a wild blend of dried rose, kirsch, baking spices and a savory earthiness. The aromatics alone are intoxicating and ever-changing in the glass and become more subtle with time. The wine is structured around focused acidity and notable tannins that work as counterweights to the ample mid-palate weight and softness, keeping all three balanced and interesting. It's intense, beautiful and stubborn all at once. The last wine will be the 2019 Late Harvest Pinot Gris - Vin de Paille .the third audio feature will tell you the entire story of this great wine. La Gare has been a local favorite for almost 40 years and two generations. Serving old world classic French cuisine by using fresh local ingredients, they pride themselves on still including soup and salad with every entree. Known for their tableside carte service and escargot, La Gare was voted most romantic restaurant by the San Francisco Chronicle. At the bottom of this feature will be three audio links.Click on all three!First the intro to the wines and chef. Then diner as the second, and dessert as the third.
