This week, Elle and Vee play time Fuck-Marry-Kill version of the card game WHOREible Life with Athena. This episode is pure chaotic pleasure — the kind where nostalgia, food, kink, and butt-stuff all swirl into one ridiculous open conversation. We go from childhood games to double-ended vegetables, from grooming disasters to pegging wins, from lingerie-in-public confessions to pee-play experimentation, from CNC fantasies to explicit photo close calls. Population growth is making headlines for the wrong reason or with a biased perspective. It's too easy to draw erroneous conclusions about dropping fertility rates around the world. A surge of news stories from NPR compels us to offer both praise and criticism. Population growth appears to be coming to an end, and that's getting all the oxygen, not the fact that we have an overpopulation crisis. In fact, the word "overpopulation" is not heard even once in the 16 stories we analyzed. Because the subject is brushed under the rug, reported infrequently or inaccurately, widespread misunderstandings among the public and policymakers persist. So, we decided 16 stories about "smaller families," "low birth rates," "depopulation," and "population decline" in 4 months from National Public Radio offered a good opportunity for us to do some analysis and offer suggestions. Our hope is that reporting might improve if journalists listen to this episode. We specifically mention NPR's Scott Simon, Brian Mann, Sarah McCammon, and Michel Martin. We also mention Wellesley College economist Phillip Levine, and offer some praise for The Rewilding Institute's John Davis. And we hear briefly from the U.N.'s Vladimira Kantorova in one of the stories. The work of these journalists also appeared in the NPR series: John Ruwitch, Jasmine Ling, Kristin Wright, Marisa Peñaloza, Hanna Merzbach, Christina Cala, Dalia Mortada, Michelle Jokisch Polo, Clara Hulet, Anthony Kuhn, Ayman Oghanna, and Code Switch podcast hosts Gene Demby and B.A. Parker. Mentors. Chances are slim you have someone who really fills the role. These days people will tend to cite their favorite authors and philosophers and influences as their mentors. And to that degree, I'd say that almost everyone in my life “mentors” me, as I learn from everyone. But I really define a mentor as someone who literally knows you and is invested in helping guide you. We used to have this in families where we lived in a village and closely amongst family and friends. We had grandparents, aunts and uncles and even neighbors who were truly involved in our lives. Today, we are isolated. A few years ago I sat down with Ken Blanchard, famous business and personal leader. Ken authored The One Minute Manager which is a business classic and has sold more than 15 million copies. But this conversation wasn't about management. It was about mentoring. Ken became the mentor for Claire Diaz-Ortiz, who is an author, speaker and innovation advisor who was an early employee at Twitter. She was named one of the 100 Most Creative People in Business by Fast Company and called “The Woman Who Got the Pope on Twitter.” Clair is an award-winning author of eight books that have been published in more than a dozen countries. But the story here is Ken became a mentor to Claire, and together they co-authored a book titled, One Minute Mentoring: How to Find and Work With a Mentor - and Why You'll Benefit from Being One. Ken asked Claire to do this book with him because he not only personally mentors her, but she in turn mentors him in regards to the younger generation. It makes an incredibly valuable perspective on the need, value and opportunity of mentoring. I bring this back because at the age of 53, I found a true mentor in my life, and it has been transformational. My core devotion is to finding deep fulfillment in life, and helping others find find it as well. When I'm not on this microphone I'm working with people as a life coach and often applying what fulfills them into their work and business. Nolan and Kelli talk about the culture shock of moving from corporate behemoths to the startup wild west. They share battle-tested wisdom on surviving the transition - from mastering the art of founder relationships to embracing the (sometimes brutal) transparency demands of startup employees. Along the way, they reveal how corporate luxuries like two-hour gym breaks get replaced by the exhilarating but exhausting reality of building something from scratch.*Email us your questions or topics for Kelli & Nolan: hrheretics@turpentine.coFor coaching and advising inquire at https://kellidragovich.com/HR Heretics is a podcast from Turpentine.—

Rocco Grimaldi joins host Steve Teel on this edition of Very Bold Radio. Rocco Grimaldi is one of only 4 Americans to ever be the leading scorer at the World Hockey Championships. Since 1950, only Rocco (May 2023) and Patrick Kane (2018) have accomplished this feat. In 10 games, Rocco's balanced 7 goals to go with 7 assists in Finland for a total of 14 points. On Team USA, his line of Alex Tuch (Buffalo Sabres) and Nick Bonino (Pittsburgh Penguins) helped lead the Americans to an unprecedented and undefeated run through the preliminary group (7-0) including wins over defending World Champion Finland, and a clinching group victory over the powerful Swedes. Though Team USA lost to Germany in the semis, Rocco's goal and assist helped get the team to a 3 on 3 overtime. The final game also went to a 3 on 3 overtime loss against Latvia, though Rocco added two goals and was named to the All-Tournament team. Not quite as impressive a feat, Rocco is the most interviewed guest on Very Bold Radio & Podcast with Steve Teel. Part 1: Awareness Part 2: Our Place Part 3: I Am A Resource of The Source Part 4: Being One and Becoming One In this podcast, I continue down the topic of Oneness by sharing how you are becoming everything you have already been made to be. You may ask, “What in tarnation is that supposed to mean”? Well glad you asked! When you became born again or saved, you became one with the Spirit of the Living God according to 1 Corinthians 6:17. You have become reformed meaning, you were brought back to your original design and then upgraded. Now the ‘Becoming' part is, your soul is becoming One with your born-again spirit. Your soul is being transformed by the Word of God and becoming one with your spirit and Spirit of God. I think this episode will shed some light on what it means to be in the process of life, and how to make progress along the way as our souls are being transformed and Becoming One! Much Love, Barry C. Maracle

Today we have our Women In Tech panel featuring a couple of guests who have previously been on our show, Kris Saling, Deputy Director of Army People Analytics, and Captain Jazmin Furtado, a Data Strategy Lead at the U.S. Space Force and Space Force Liaison at the MIT AI Accelerator. Welcome back Jazmin and Kris to Tech Transforms to talk about your journeys in government technology. I'm really excited to talk to both of you again, but before we get into that let me do a little housekeeping. So I just want to remind our listeners that the views of both Kris and Jazmin are their own and do not necessarily reflect the views of their agencies. I'm just going to say that for myself, too. Because I warned this, too, before we started. I'm like, "I got some stuff I need to get out." And I want to be able to talk freely today. Let's start talking about challenges that both of you have faced being a woman in the technology space. The fact that we even have to say, "Being a woman in the government technology space," other than, we're in the technology space and we kick ass. I hate that we have to do that but I still feel like we do. I'm already getting up on my soapbox. But, let's start with you, Kris. Some of the challenges that you've faced. Kris: So, it's one of those where I don't want to say there aren't any challenges. But I've encountered so many of these challenges throughout my career. I just hit 20 years last summer, I'm going to hit 21 years this coming summer. Yes, it's almost the summer again. Kris Saling's Challenges for Being One of the Women in TechKris: So it's been a long time of sitting there with the typical, the anxieties, the imposter anxiety, the "What is my balance between being assertive. And how do I not come off as, "Insert your," kind of "The common anxieties"? It really hasn't been all that different. I've been trying to figure out the right balance of how to present different things. How to present facts so that they are listened to. How to present data to an audience where not only do we have the schism between having an audience that's operational and I'm on the technical side. But sometimes it's very obvious that I know quite a bit more about the subject than the people I'm talking to. I think one of the biggest challenges is I really didn't get to know myself and how I wanted to present these things. Because I was very much fixed on how to present that particular image until I really got into data education and started teaching people. That really helped me find a balance in how I wanted to talk about very technical subjects, both with a technical and a lay audience. So I won't say it's overcome all the challenges. You still go out a lot of times, still the only woman sitting in the room. I do have a little bit of a reputation now that I can trade on. So I come into the room with a certain amount of that reputation. But I've seen a lot of cases where that hasn't been the case. Where people have come in...

God becomes our God through Christ, so we will live as his people. His people worship in response to grace, obey his words in gratitude, and rest on his welcome provided by Jesus. I. Worship (24:1-2, 9-11, 15-18)As God’s people, we worship him in response to his grace. Knowing: Before there is any reference to obedience to commands, God invites the leaders, representing the people, into his presence to worship. And worship is the last act mentioned at the end of the chapter. Worship, implicitly in response to the grace of redemption, frames the whole chapter, just as it frames the whole legal code. Being: One cannot truly receive and reflect on grace without being driven to worship, driven to corporate worship in particular because the redeemed person cannot be satisfied with his or her lone voice praising his or her Savior. Doing: Then one cannot view the generosity of God’s mercy, justice and faithfulness without being compelled to extend it to others. Do you tend to view corporate worship as a legalistic duty or a response to grace? What do you think contributes to your viewing it this way? II. Words (24:3-4, 7-8, 12-14)As God’s people, we obey his words in gratitude.Knowing: After worship, Moses repeats all of God’s “words” to the people. All of this legislation is not referred to as “laws” but as “words.” This is clearly an allusion to what is revealed in Exodus 20, which is not referred to in Hebrew as the Ten Commandments, but rather the Ten Words (dabar). This is a gentle reference. Even the Hebrew reference to the commands of Scripture torah is a gentle word. It’s more accurate to translate it as “instruction” than “law.” Being: One Old Testament scholar once wrote, “these are not ‘laws’ to ‘serve as rules of action, but the rights, by which the national life was formed into a civil commonwealth and the political order secured.’” Doing: Do you tend to view God’s instruction as something he has given to rob your joy or so that life might go well with you? What would it look like to truly believe God’s law is for your good? III. Welcome (24:4-6)As God’s people, we rest on his welcome provided by Jesus. Knowing: Jesus was the one to whom many thousands of sacrificial animals pointed, but his was the once for all sufficient sacrifice to take away our sins. We are very familiar with that legal provision for us, the need for the imputation of Christ’s righteousness in place of our sins to justify us before the bar of God’s justice. Being: Unlike the burnt offering, the sacrificial animal was slain not to be cremated but to be eaten as a meal with God. Just as a burnt offering revealed God’s self-sacrifice to satisfy justice, a peace offering represented God’s provision for a reconciled relationship. God himself was the host of the meal. Doing: Do you tend to view your relationship with God in only legal terms (i.e. guilty, not guilty) or in relational terms wherein he welcomes you as a guest to a feast? What contributes to this view and how does this passage shape your view of relationship with God?
