There's a lot to unpack about this desperate attempt to turn a profit in a dying market, so let's hit harder than Daredevil, make Thor fight a literal child, and have some horny teens try and do karate at each other for the fate of the Universe as we take a look at 4 issues that would either change the landscape of comics forever or mean absolutely nothing. You decide. And, of course, don't forget to follow Michael (@mvbramleyart) Dre (@nerdnumbers) and Jeff (@heytherejeffro2 or @heytherejeffro) on the socials, and have a nerdy day! Since moving to Somerset 10 years ago, I have been heading to the Beckford Inn's in search of satiating that sense of true countryside; Heartening red wine, tasty food, cosy fires and those interiors that makes you feel like you're back where you belong. Witnessing more pubs open by The Beckford Group over the years, it's clear that they have a knack for knowing when it's right, and an eye for how to do it well. And then of course, there's Bramley, the bath and body brand, and perfect sister brand, with 23 products on offer as well as a treatment cabin ay their Longleat site, The Bath Bath Arms!Having spent a lot of my annual income in one or another of their pubs, I was excited to meet the brains. We talk about values, when to thinkwhen thinking's too much, we talk about community, connection and also the role a pub has in our villages. So today, I welcome co-founder Dan Brod and founder of Bramley, Chloe Luxton. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Tina shares the story of her oracle deck and poetry, inspired by nature and designed to spark reflection and connection.Together, we explore:The Solstice and Saturnalia: We delve into the ancient celebrations of reversal, renewal, and rebellion, considering how Saturnalia and similar festivals turned society upside down to create space for reflection and rebirth. The Wisdom of Nature: Drawing a card from Tina's poetic oracle deck, we reflect on the message of Joy. The galah—a playful Australian bird—emerges as a symbol of resilience and embracing life's limits and uncertainties.Cycles of Shedding and Growth: Tina reads her beautiful poem Shedding, offering insights into the discomfort and beauty of transformation. We discuss how shedding old skins makes way for new growth, both personally and collectively. This episode is a tapestry of astrology, mythology, and depth psychology, offering a lens through which to engage with the themes of the solstice season.  Lead Negotiator, Brandon Bramley, addresses common concerns that arise during this critical recruitment stage. Brandon and Jonaed dispel typical myths about job offer negotiation, discuss the importance of leverage, and provide insights on when and how to negotiate. They stress the importance of research, preparation, and professionalism during such discussions. They also highlight the potential for substantial increases in total compensation and the need to showcase value and advocate for oneself. Key Points DiscussedEmployers are often willing to negotiate job offers, so it's important to advocate for yourself and not be afraid to ask for more.Leverage in negotiations comes from the fact that companies have invested time and resources in the hiring process and want to secure their chosen candidate.Having another offer can provide internal leverage and confidence, but it's not always necessary for successful negotiation.Negotiating salary is a professional conversation, not a confrontational bartering technique. It should be approached with research, data, and a reasonable request.Job titles and degree requirements should not limit negotiation potential. It's important to focus on the value and skills you bring to the table.Successful negotiation can lead to significant increases in total compensation and career advancement. Timestamps(00:00) Introduction to Salary Negotiation and Guest Introduction (03:16) Debunking Common Myths About Job Offer Negotiations 05:08 Understanding Leverage and Power Dynamics in Negotiations(07:29) Strategies for Negotiating Job Offers with Confidence (09:25) The Importance of Demonstrating Value in Negotiations 15:29 Negotiating Salary Without a Degree: Breaking the Myth Support/Contact Brandon:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/brandonbramleyWebsite: https://www.thesalarynegotiator.com/Books and resources mentioned in this podcast:Resume course: https://bit.ly/podcastpca Need career or resume advice? In today's midweek mini, we're plunged into the dark waters of the River Witham in the UK, where a gruesome discovery turns a peaceful walk into a nightmare.Join us as we unravel the case of Nicholas Metson, a man whose twisted actions led him to stab his wife, Holly Bramley, and call upon a friend to assist. As the police peel back the layers of domestic bliss gone horrifically wrong, they're met with the pungent scent of bleach, bloodstains that tell a tale of terror, and a husband's callous jokes that mask a horrible reality. With every piece of evidence, from incriminating Google searches to blood-soaked sheets, the image of a cold-hearted killer comes into focus. But when the defense cries mental health, we're forced to question the intersection of accountability and psychological disorders. Can one's inner turmoils ever justify the ultimate betrayal?Share your thoughts on this story and join the conversation by participating in our poll: Can mental health issues excuse the inexcusable?Remember, if you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help is available. Olivia is a PhD student at The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) with an interest in positive sporting environments and experiences. Olivia completed her BSc in Sports and Exercise Science at Nottingham Trent University where she was also Women's Football Club President, Women's Football Media and Communications Officer and Women's Football First team player. Olivia has just returned to the UK to play for the Women's Championship Team, Durham. Laura is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology at Nottingham Trent University. Her research explores how to optimise goal pursuit in sport and physical activity for individuals and teams. This has included examining how the motivation underpinning goal striving can impact upon the self-regulation of goals and well-being. Recently, Laura has researched in areas associated with elite performance environments, including the role of personality in elite coach-athlete relationships, resilience, psychological safety and fear of failure in a national sport governing body, and the experience of release from professional football academies. We discuss a paper led by Olivia and co-authored by Laura and Dr Mustafa Sarkar which examines the mental health within sub-elite women's sport.  You can find the paper here: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/1612197X.2024.2311752

With work on Everton's new stadium scheduled to be completed by the end of the calendar year and the first team set to play their first competitive game by the banks of the Mersey in less than 18 months' time, progress on the Blues' future home is continuing at pace. The laying of the pitch should begin next month while more than 30,000 of the total 52,888 seats have already been installed in a process due to be completed this summer. The ECHO's Everton correspondent Joe Thomas produced a special report this week having been on site last Monday and said: “There are two great aspects to this project that only hit me during my visit this week. One is the sense that the ground's location is inescapable. “The second is just how much this new stadium will foster a sense of wider community.” Everton FC correspondent Joe Thomas reports from Liverpool's new waterfront landmark as the club's future home moves from dream to reality.  Everton FC podcasts from the Liverpool ECHO's Royal Blue YouTube channel. Also on the agenda is the latest round of International fixtures with England and Toffee's Number One Jordan Pickford coming in for some random criticism this past week from a number of pundits.
