In this episode of the podcast, we're talking again about Assistive Technology, this time about mind mapping and how it can help people with dyslexia organise and make sense of all the ideas flowing through their heads. People with dyslexia typically have lots of great ideas and can sometimes link  seemingly unconnected topics or themes to one another. The challenge that we face is getting those ideas down in a coherent way which makes sense. Mind mapping those ideas can help get those thoughts down on paper and visualise how they link up so that you can then organise them into written text or a presentation.A couple decades ago, developments in assistive technology meant that mind mapping could be undertaken on a PC. In its infant stages of development, it was great to help get things down quickly electronically, but it didn't go much further! Today, with the power of AI (Artificial technology) there are no limits to how mind mapping can help get those ideas from head to paper! In this episode, our host Matthew Head is joined by Chris Collier, an Assistive Technology and DSA (Disabled Students Allowance) Advisor and Director of Assistive Technology at OpenGeniusIt wasn't until Chris started his career as an English Secondary School Teacher in South Africa when he first started to learn about Dyslexia and other neurodiverse conditions. Chris became familiar with DSA and assistive technology for his students. From here, Chris grew his expertise in DSA and assistive technology and became a freelance advisor.Chris is now Director of Assistive Technology at OpenGenius, the world's leading experts in the application of Mind Mapping via there product Ayoa in real-world situations, where he got up close and personal with the power of mind mapping technology and AI, and the many applications it has in school/education and in the workplace for everyone.Key Topics:What is Mind Mapping,How Mind Mapping can help people with Dyslexia,How to take mind maps to develop presentations, programmes, and even reports!-Proudly sponsored by neurobox. Confronting shadowsFull Circle Theater Company's thought-provoking new production “They Wear Teal Ribbons Around Their Tongues” delves deep into the dynamics of a family grappling with the aftermath of their patriarch's death.St. Paul actor Chris Collier had a chance to read the script for Full Circle Theater Company's current show, “They Wear Teal Ribbons Around Their Tongues,” and he's looking forward to the staged production. Written by Minnesota playwriter Siddeeqah Shabazz, the play follows a family reconciling with the loss of their patriarch and a burgeoning secret that threatens to shatter their long-held perfect image.  Trigger warning: the play deals with sexual assault and mental health issues within the family dynamic. “Especially as it pertains to communities of color and to black families, specifically, I think that there's such a stigma surrounding mental health and sexual assault that just doesn't get talked about,” said Collier. “And I think that this show does a great job of addressing a much-needed conversation.” “They Wear Teal Ribbons Around Their Tongues” runs through April 28 at the Gremlin Theatre in St Paul. Rhythms and threadsRevel in the vibrant energy of the Guild of Middle Eastern Dance's Spring Spectacular. MJ Gernes is a St. Paul fiber artist and drummer who has had a chance to drum before with members of the Guild of Middle Eastern Dance. For more than 40 years, the Guild has drawn dancers from around the Twin Cities and beyond to perform a variety of folk dance styles from across the Middle East as well as other American-fusion styles. Gernes loves the high energy, the beautiful costumes and welcoming atmosphere of the Guild's dance performances, and she's looking forward to their Spring Spectacular, this Sunday, April 21 at 4 p.m. at the Elision Playhouse in Crystal.  For those interested in learning new dance skills, the Guild is offering six workshops this weekend in St. Paul and Crystal. Revisiting rebellionExperience a timeless tale of struggle and satire with An Opera Theatre's production of “The Cradle Will Rock.”Twin Cities illustrator and designer Jerrald Spencer Jr. had a chance to see a preview production of An Opera Theatre's performance of “The Cradle Will Rock.” Written in 1937 by Marc Blitzstein and billed as “The Working Man's Musical,” the opera still feels relevant today; Spencer described it as “Succession meets The Producers.”  The villainous Mr. Mister (whose wife, naturally, is Mrs. Mister) seeks to control the media and crush rising labor unions. The opera is laced with some “very, very funny lines,” says Spencer, along with beautiful singing and shadow puppetry, which adds to the emotional depth of the story. The Cradle Will Rock runs April 18 – 21 at the Heart of the Beast Theatre in Minneapolis. The show is 90 minutes without intermission.

KILL DEVIL HILL guitarist Mark Zavon and OCTOBER NOIR frontman Tom Noir join us on this week's edition of The Loaded Radio Podcast KILL DEVIL HILL is set to unveil its third album, "Seas Of Oblivion," on September 20th. This LP, meticulously crafted by engineer Chris Collier, who handled production, engineering, mixing, and mastering duties, seamlessly blends classic hard rock with elements of metal. The result is a musical journey that bridges the gap between contemporary and classic metal, reminiscent of iconic bands like SOUNDGARDEN and ALICE IN CHAINS. With "Seas Of Oblivion," KILL DEVIL HILL demonstrates its versatility, fearlessly experimenting with various styles, and pushing the boundaries of expectations to deliver a fresh and exhilarating experience for their devoted fans. Prior to the album's release, KILL DEVIL HILL has already treated fans to a taste of what's to come with the launch of four singles: "Playing With Fire," "Blood In The Water," "You Can't Kill Me California," and "Before The Devil Knows." Formed in 2011 by legendary drummer Vinny Appice (formerly of BLACK SABBATH and DIO) and bassist Rex Brown (PANTERA), KILL DEVIL HILL has undergone a couple of lineup changes, yet continues with a pummeling vengeance. The band's current roster includes Johnny Kelly (formerly of TYPE O NEGATIVE) on drums, Zavon on guitar, Dewey Bragg on vocals, and Matt Snell (formerly of FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH) on bass. In the podcast, Mark discusses the evolution of KILL DEVIL HILL, the band's new additions, his love for Wolfgang Van Halen and much more. Hailing from Pensacola, Florida, OCTOBER NOIR emerged onto the music scene in 2016 as a gothic/doom metal ensemble. Since their inception, they have crafted and shared their unique sonic vision through three full-length albums and an impressive collection of nine stand-alone singles. The brainchild of Tom Noir, OCTOBER NOIR was conceived in late 2016, and their inaugural album, "The Haunting and the Powerful," saw the light of day on October 19, 2017. Following the album's release, Tom Noir welcomed talented musicians into the fold for their live performances. Drummer Daniel "Stickz" Bryant, guitarist Troy Lambert, and keyboardist Jackie "Jaxxx" Daniel added depth and energy to the band's live shows. In 2018, OCTOBER NOIR expanded their repertoire by releasing two remarkable singles, both of which were captivating covers. "Pictures of Matchstick Men (RIPeter)," a reinterpretation of the classic by STATUS QUO and TYPE O NEGATIVE, graced listeners' ears on April 14, 2018. Subsequently, on July 5, 2018, they offered their rendition of "Lips like Sugar," originally by ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN, showcasing their versatility and creative prowess. In the second portion of the podcast, Tom discusses the band's influence, the new album "Letters To Existence", his use of torture devices and more. Is our January business overall a show of faith in the process and the players themselves? Are we too light up top to compete or do the lads see us still in with a shot of the top six this season? Is it really possible to replace Ross Stewart at all? How are we feeling about our FA Cup replay against Fulham on Wednesday? I have really enjoyed doing my show over the last 5 years. I've met so many incredible people. I've chatted with amazing bands and influential creatives who breathe life into the artform.A good buddy of mine knew perpetually upcoming music producer, Chris Collier and made the introduction. Why do I say perpetually upcoming? Because Chris is always upping his game. He won't rest on his accomplishments, and why would he stop now? He's at the top of his game, for now, but there's always another artistic mountain to climb, so most of us will keep watching from afar, wondering how he's done it.If you actually listen to the entire show, you'll know the secret, which, in many ways, hasn't ever been a secret, but simply a way of being. I highly suggest we all try to be a little more like Chris Collier and love what we do with an unrivaled zeal. Hailing from Fort Worth, Texas, hard rock outfit Lockjaw have returned to the scene breathing metal, with the intent to pick up from where they left off with a prolonged hiatus and then some. With a new vocalist in tow and a swag of new music, starting with latest single Silence The Fear, Lockjaw are already plotting their next assault on the music scene, but first guitarist and founding member Jeff Ogle caught up with HEAVY for a chat about the new single and what has been happening of late with the band."When I wrote the song was during COVID," he started. "I wrote about 16 songs during COVID and lockdown here in Texas, and when I was writing it I had a lot of inspiration from Fear Factory and also a little bit of Megadeath in there. I'm old school. I'm a James Hetfield down picking kind of guy, so I just wanted to feel some old school vibes, something I love. The stuff that made me want to pick up a guitar and play, so not worrying about the trends of what's going on in music or metal today. I just wanna play what I love. That's where it started. Honestly, it came from a very pure, healthy place for me. I wrote the whole, entire song and sent it to my producer, and he helped me lay it out a little bit better. Our producer is Chris Collier, he's currently producing Korn, he's done Prong, and he's working with Jason Hood, formerly of Five Finger Death Punch so he has an incredible ear and really helped me pull the song together."In the full interview, Jeff talks about Silence The Fear in greater detail, the different genres within Lockjaw's music and how they make them work, choosing this song to relaunch the band's career and why, future songs and how Lockjaw plans to release them, their six-year hiatus at the height of their career to date and why they took it, coming back into the metal scene and more.

Chris The Conqueror joins The Mighty Pete in today's episode to discuss what Fire In The Belly means to him and his pathway to success. In yet another inspirational episode, they cover topics from success and how it varies from person to person, the meaning of faith and why failure is a wonderful thing.   KEY TAKEAWAYS We are programmed to believe that losing is okay and that we cannot always win. Whilst there is some truth in that, you always have to strive for the best. Failure is a wonderful thing, it is a teacher more so than a bad thing. Learn and embrace failure and get better from it. There are two things that every person needs to find and work with to have that fire in the belly. Fire in the belly is to have passion and purpose. When you get passion and purpose married together, you have power that creates a whole new force in the world. Faith is nothing more than looking to the future and knowing the end goal and bringing it to the present as best you can. It may not happen today or tomorrow but each day, you are bringing your dreams closer to you. When you look into the future you have got to look with the perception of purpose, your passion and your power. Use this as your motivator. Success varies for every person. The process to success is never easy, if your dream is big enough the facts simply do not matter. You have to believe you can do it, so you are able to get through the first, second and third hurdles. You should never be jealous of those who have different dreams and beliefs than you. Everyone has their own pathway. There is only one path in but once you are in there are many paths to go down.   BEST MOMENTS “Faith is nothing more than looking to the future.” “Tomorrow is a creature that you can never catch.” “You have to be willing to always be changing.” ABOUT THE GUEST Chris Collier - Executive Producer and Manager at Conquer With Chris Podcast Website : https://conquerwithchris.com/about-us/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/conquerwithchris ABOUT THE HOST The ‘Mighty Pete Lonton' from the ‘Mighty 247' company is your main host of ‘Fire In The Belly'. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.  Galatians 6:7-9 Bro.
