In this Join the Docs episode, the ever-charismatic Professor Jonathan Sackier and the delightfully witty Doctor Nigel Guest dive headfirst into a rollicking discussion about the medical marvels of various body parts. Picture this: a room filled with laughter as they dissect (pun intended) the critical importance of blood and organ donation, weaving in tales of heroic donors and miraculous recoveries. So, what are the ethics of organ donation? It's a labour of love, quite literally!Hold onto your seats as the discussion gets a bit cheeky with sperm and eggs, where The Docs' playful banter about the birds and the bees will have you in stitches. And just when you think the episode has reached its peak, they introduce the pièce de résistance: faecal transplants. Yes, you heard that right. The episode delves into the surprisingly sophisticated science of poop, sharing stories that are both mind-blowing and side-splitting. What have we learned from the past? The Docs entertain listeners with captivating tales of ancient medical practices, ranging from the bizarre to the revolutionary, offering insights into just how much progress we've made in understanding and treating the human body. The episode also features a segment on the future of medicine, where the potential advancements that could revolutionise healthcare are brought to attention. From the promise of regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy to the ethical implications of genetic engineering, the discussion is as thought-provoking as it is entertaining. So, whether you're a medical professional, a curious layperson, or simply someone who enjoys a good laugh, this episode of "Join the Docs" promises to be a captivating and enlightening experience. Trips to the doctor or dentist are hard for any kid. They're especially tough for our learners with autism and other delays. Here, we dive into how to make these experiences easier for these learners and their families. A lot of the kids we work with may need multiple medical procedures, which sometimes creates an avoidance to anyone touching them or coming close. Desensitization to the experience is key, and we need to be careful and gentle. Taking a step-by-step approach to desensitization where the learner gets to call the shots is the goal. While sedation is often used in these cases, if a kid can learn to tolerate medical appointments on their own, it becomes a free choice, which is much healthier. We break down the desensitization process, beginning with identifying the very first step your learner must take. We also talk about how to help kids feel safer about the experience, the benefits of social exposure through videos and play, how to be a good salesperson about the dentist or doctor, and the importance of modeling when normalizing going to appointments. What's Inside:A walkthrough of the desensitization process to help learners tolerate appointments. Why sedation isn't an ideal solution to tolerating appointments. How modeling helps to normalize going to the doctor and dentist.Mentioned In This Episode:HowToABA.com/joinHow to ABA on YouTubeFind us on FacebookFollow us on InstagramBlog – How To Use Video ModelingTolerating Dentist Appointments Task Analysis

Moreno argued that this group of white people died to free Black people, which has never happened in human history before. - Moreno, a successful businessman and an immigrant from Colombia, is running for Senate as an "outsider conservative." 20:40 - Misgendered and Marginalized Montana Democratic lawmaker Rep Zooey Zephyr, who previously lashed out at colleagues supporting a ban on medical or surgical treatments for children with gender dysphoria, is now facing calls for censure from Republican lawmakers for using inappropriate language during a debate over amendments to the bill. Zephyr is also complaining about being misgendered by Republicans. The bill has already been passed in Montana's House and Senate, and a debate occurred over amendments requested by Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte. 37:55 - Alvin Bragg Believes Poor Thieves Should Have Reduced Punishment Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who ran his campaign with racial equity as a priority, has stated that he would not prosecute thievery because it is a "crime of poverty" and prosecuting a young person does not make the society safer. Bragg's intention is to shrink the criminal justice system's footprint and to move away from what he calls a "crime of poverty." Bragg's campaign webpage, which has been taken down, had stated that he would dismiss petty offenses or offer the accused person the opportunity to complete a program without ever setting foot in a courtroom. However, the New York City Police Department's data has shown that a handful of thieves who were arrested over 6,000 times were released back into the streets. 47:30 - House GOP's long-awaited debt limit bill features $1.5T increase House Republicans have released a bill called the Limit, Save, Grow Act, which proposes raising the debt limit by $1.5 trillion or through March 31, 2024, and making savings of about $4.5 trillion by cutting Biden administration priorities. The bill aims to revert discretionary spending caps to fiscal 2022 levels while limiting growth to 1 percent annually over the next decade. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/politicana/support
