Jennifer Garner is one of our favorite people; in fact, she's most people's favorite person. She has lived many lives and successfully pursued many careers. She has acted in some of our favorite TV shows and movies, such as Alias, 13 Going on 30, Family Switch, and The Last Thing He Told Me. She co-founded the company that makes all of our favorite mom-approved snacks, Once Upon a Farm, and has led numerous philanthropic efforts. Through it all, we have admired her talent and ability to wear so many hats while also remaining resilient and positive, no matter what life throws at her. There are truly so many different topics to discuss with Jen, so we wanted to dive deep into what we admire most about her – her ability to get through anything all while showing herself grace. Plus, we delve into her career, motherhood, and what's next for her. We'd all be lucky to channel a little bit of Jen in our lives. Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics! And Happy First Day of July! We're barreling ever-closer to those 'Ber Months with more than a few big milestones along the way to be hit this month! How exciting is that? Less exciting is the film the elves are covering this week: the 2023 Netflix Original Movie, "Family Switch"! While they thought they escaped the worst-of-the-worst content after clawing their way out of June's "Bad Sequels" month, this movie certainly didn't make them feel that way; it even elicited a rant from Anthony the likes of which you haven't heard since our "Ernest Saves Christmas" episode! But is the movie really that bad? Is there any semblance of heart or holiday cheer to make this one worth watching? Well, you'll just have to tune in to find out! One thing's for certain though: regardless of the film's quality, this is yet another fun, festive episode of "Tis the Podcast" you want to be sure not to miss! And speaking of not wanting to miss anything: check out the bonus "Summerween" episode that dropped in your podcast feeds yesterday, in which Anthony and his friend Cookie talk the Ti West/A24 film "X"! It's a good time, and essential listening before seeing "MaXXXine" later this week! So settle back and enjoy, y'all! As always, thanks for your love and support! We love and appreciate each and every one of you! ❤️
Happy Sunday, Christmas Fanatics! And Happy Last Day of June! Since we didn't get a chance to record a bonus Fourth of July episode this year, we're releasing an episode that was originally intended to drop on Patreon instead! (Hence the explicit tag for language!) Think of it as a special "Summerween" treat, as it's an episode that covers a movie that takes place in July, but it's a horror film as well! It's also timely given the fact that the movie "MaXXXine" is releasing later this week, and this is the first installment of that trilogy! Anthony is joined by his friend, Cookie, to discuss the Ti West/A24 2022 film, "X"! This movie, which first introduced the world to Mia Goth's already iconic Maxine Minx, features a group of actors that set out to make an adult film in rural Texas under the noses of the reclusive hosts of the farm they're staying at. However, when the elderly couple catches their young guests in the act, the cast finds themselves in a desperate fight for their lives. Listen as Anthony and Cookie dive deep into the plot of this modern horror classic, explore its themes of aging and lost opportunities, laugh over the absurdity of the plot, which features two eighty-year-old slashers the script tries to convince us are formidable, and much, much more! This is a really fun one, so give it a listen and stay tuned - for Anthony and Cookie have two more episodes coming quite soon as well: a discussion about the prequel to this film, "Pearl", and an episode about the upcoming sequel, "MaXXXine"! As always, thanks for your love and support, y'all! And keep an eye on your podcast feeds tomorrow morning for your regularly scheduled Christmas programming where Anthony, Julia, and Thom will be reviewing 2023's Netflix Original Movie, "Family Switch"! ❤️

Dan and Tony, dive headfirst into the holiday movie madness. We're dishing out our unfiltered thoughts on Eddie Murphy's "Candy Cane Lane" and the face-palm-worthy "The Family Switch" while inviting you to join us in the joy of critiquing the festive season's cinematic offerings.Who knew that soda could have a starring role in film promotions? We'll walk you through Truly's unexpected foray into movie marketing, followed by musings on the treasures and trappings of Christmas collectibles. Eddie Murphy's venture into a deeper, less comedic role in the holiday genre sparks a heartfelt discussion around the evolving nature of Christmas celebrations. We'll share personal stories and observations on how this once sacred holiday is now wrapped in the bright, shiny foil of commercialism.Wrapping things up with a nod to Ken Marino's questionably legal holiday decorations, we'll tickle your funny bone with elf jokes and the comedic gold of geese laying more than just eggs. We even tackle the undying debate about 'Die Hard' being a Christmas film and bring ornament characters to life in our reviews. So, grab your headphones and settle in for a ride through the holiday hilarity as we bring you a festive, funny, and sometimes poignant take on the latest movie releases.Be our friend!Dan: @shakybaconTony: @tonydczechAnd follow the podcast on IG: @hatewatchingDAT

We return with a massive 5 person pod to celebrate the holiday season. New Blockbuster Nostalgia, it's a Christmas miracle!
This holiday season, Steph, Dave & John switch it up for Christmas! What happens when you cross Freaky Friday with Like Father Like Son and throw in Christmas just for shits and giggles. And don't forget an extra helping of McG directing and you get the Netflix original - the simply titled FAMILY SWITCH! FAMILY SWITCH is about the Walker Family as they switch bodies. The mother switches with the daughter, the son switches with the dad and the baby switches with the family dog! And it happens on the night before one of the most important days of everyone's life – The mom (Jennifer Garner) is supposed to give a big pitch to a big client with a promotion on the line! The Daughter (Emma Myers) is supposed to play in the big soccer tournament with a scholarship on the line! The son (Brady Noon) is meeting with Yale to see if he can get into college a year or two before he graduates! And the Dad (Ed Helms) is going to play the..I don't know…Christmas Festival? Or something for a chance to be on America's Got Talent, I think? So the stage is set, the stakes are hight and, oh, did we mention it's a Christmas movie as well? It's FAMILY SWITCH! This week, Nigel and Tazziii join the race to become King of the Pirates in this retrospective on Netflix's One Piece live-action adaptation with Content Creator Izzy Kento (starting at 27:20). We praise the adaptation that got it right as we examine the aspects of this series that stayed true to the source material while working for this new medium. Izzy brings their love for the manga series as Tazziii shares experiences from over 600 episodes of the anime for us to judge what works and why our favourite moments land so well. We also get into the characters and why they work so well from a storytelling perspective. There's also room made to talk about the podcast favourite Zoro...though not enough time by the sound of it! Other stories we're enjoying include: Baldur's Gate 3, One Piece (Manga), Pom Poko, Scott Pilgrim: Takes Off, Shadow and Bone, Family Switch, Invincible, Obliterated, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Ranking of Kings.
Hey mom of teen, Have you seen the new Netflix Movie - Family Switch which stars fellow mom of teens actress Jennifer Garner? Family Switch is a 2023 Netflix Family Comedy directed by McG. He is also responsible for This Means War and The Babysitter. Family Switch is the story of Jess and Bill Walker, played by Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms. The Walker family is a little bit out of sorts, they have three children, MAINLY CeeCee and Wyatt played by Emma Meyers and Brady Noon, both in high school. They have a third child who is just a baby, that is Miles. They are just a family that feels very disconnected and isolated from each other, they all have their own priorities that in their own minds supersedes everyone else in the family and all of this comes to a head after a Christmas excursion to Griffith Observatory, when during a rare planetary alignment event, while the whole family is bickering how everyone else lives are SO EASY… we end up with a body swap story. Jess and CeeCee wake up in each others bodies. Bill and Wyatt end up in each others… the baby Miles swaps with the dog Pickles. This is your lead in for Family Switch. The weather outside is frightful, but this episode is so delightful. Movie Toaster Dennis has to evade the law, that is of course until they drew First Blood. Things are a bit smoother for Movie Toaster Adam while he has the summer of a lifetime at Saltburn. But that doesn't last too long when both Toasters fight off demonic animatronics while they spend Five Nights at Freddy's. Following his brief stint as a security guard Toaster Adam gets a dose of Disney magic thanks to a special Wish. Luckily enough that wish comes true because Toaster Dennis has the Best. Christmas. Ever! However Adam has a more difficult holiday season on account of a Family Switch. But things start looking up when the Toasters find a magic lamp harboring a Genie. However, it can't save Movie Toaster Adam from Kaiju especially Godzilla Minus One. So grab your snow shovel and prepare to get toasty.Stay Toasty!!!

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of December 1, 2023. Watching "Godzilla Minus One" in one of those D-Box seats was one of Andy's most intense movie theater experiences in a long time. And he thought the movie was really good too! Also on the big screen is an action film by director John Woo with no dialogue called "Silent Night," and a concert film from Beyonce Knowles called "Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce.” Angel Studios uses a dystopian future to re-tell the Biblical story of Job in “The Shift." On Streaming, Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore, and Charles Melton give fine acting performances in the creepy-to-watch "May December" on Netflix. And you can’t forget the Christmas comedies available on with Netflix’s "Family Switch" and Amazon Prime Video’s "Candy Cane Lane." Beyond Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Gaming, and Tech, the brains behind Fan Effect are connoisseurs of categories surpassing the nerdy. Brilliant opinions and commentary on all things geek, but surprising knowledge and witty arguments over pop culture, Star Trek, MARVEL vs. DC, and a wide range of movies, TV shows, and more. Formerly known as SLC Fanboys, the show is hosted by KSL Movie Show’s Andy Farnsworth and KellieAnn Halvorsen, who are joined by guest experts. Based in the beautiful beehive state, Fan Effect celebrates Utah’s unique fan culture as it has been declared The Nerdiest State in America by TIME. Awards season is upon us and both Erik Childress and Steve Prokopy are preparing their Chicago ballots. But is there anything amongst the seven new titles this week that will fit? There are a pair of documentaries from the legendary Frederick Wiseman (Menus Plaisirs – Les Troisgros) and about a tumultuous year in the life of award-winning musician Jon Baptiste (American Symphony). Steve has some words for an apocalyptic horror film (Everyone Will Burn) and Erik wishes that title applied to the latest body-switch comedy with Jennifer Garner (Family Switch). Do family holiday comedies get any better when you add Eddie Murphy battling the 12 Days of Christmas (Candy Cane Lane) or how about when John Woo takes dialogue away from his gunplay (Silent Night)? Finally the latest in the ultimate kaiju arrives from Toho Studios (Godzilla Minus One). Where does it rank within the series? 0:00 - Intro 1:42 - Menus Plaisirs – Les Troisgros 10:50 - American Symphony 23:47 - Everyone Will Burn 29:52 - Family Switch 38:40 - Candy Cane Lane 49:17 - Silent Night 59:17 - Godzilla Minus One 1:13:08 – Preview of Next Week 1:14:29 - Outro
