Mein heutiger Gast hat zu diesen Fragen seine ganz persönlichen Antworten gefunden. Im Leben von Justus Will drehte sich alles um den Fußball, den Sport, den er so sehr liebte. Als ich ihn kennengelernt habe, war er Spielerberater und somit Teil eines Geschäftes, das Millionen von Menschen begeistert. Im Laufe der Zeit musste Justus jedoch feststellen, dass ihm die Freude an seinem Job verloren gegangen ist. Er überlegte und fragte sich, ob der eingeschlagene Weg noch der Richtige ist. Als sein Vater im Jahr 2020 nach schwerer Krankheit verstarb, entschied er sich, noch einmal völlig neu anzufangen. Justus hing seinen Job als Spielerberater an den Nagel und eröffnete ein Restaurant in Berlin-Schöneberg. Diesen Schritt zu wagen, noch dazu ohne abgeschlossene Kochausbildung, stellte ein gewisses Risiko dar. Seine Neugier und der Wunsch, sich noch einmal völlig neu zu erfinden, überwogen am Ende allerdings mögliche Zweifel.

Ruth Moschner ist nicht nur eine der erfolgreichsten Moderatorinnen unseres Landes und Fernsehpreisträgerin, sie ist zudem Entertainerin und langjähriges Mitglied des Ratepanels von The Masked Singer. Auf ihren Social Media Plattformen macht sie sich stark für gesellschaftspolitische Themen, kämpft gegen den Hass im Netz und den Antisemitismus. Doch auch Ruth Moschner musste die eine oder andere Herausforderung in ihrem Leben meistern. Von einer schweren Geburt, bei der sie fast im Rollstuhl landete, über gesundheitliche Probleme wie Neurodermitis, bis hin zu Identitätsfragen als Teil einer Familie, die lange ihre jüdischen Wurzeln verheimlichte. Was Ruth Moschner antreibt und wie sie ihren eigenen Weg gefunden hat in einem Geschäft, in dem sie immer funktionieren muss, darüber habe ich mich u. a. mit ihr in unserer heutigen Ausgabe von From Done to Dare unterhalten.

Laut UN-Wasserbericht hatten im Jahr 2020 rund 2,2 Milliarden Menschen keinen nachhaltig sicheren und sofort verfügbaren Zugang zu Trinkwasser. Der Gang zum Kühlschrank, um sich mal eben ein gekühltes Glas Wasser zu holen, geschieht für die meisten von uns ohne nachzudenken. Was für uns als selbstverständlich erscheint, gilt allerdings längst nicht für alle. Dabei ist Wasser ein Menschenrecht und Voraussetzung für Gesundheit und Wohlbefinden. Viva con Aqua ist eine Non-Profit Organisation, die sich für einen sicheren Zugang zu sauberem Trinkwasser und der sanitären Grundversorgung einsetzt. Und einen der Mitgründer von Viva von Aqua durfte ich heute in unserem Podcast begrüßen. Michael Fritz ist konzeptioneller Aktivist des Unternehmens, er entwickelt Spendenformate und Kampagnen, bringt Menschen zusammen und ist ein Meister der Netzwerke. Ich habe selten einen agileren Menschen kennengelernt, jemanden der drauf los marschiert und einfach macht. Manchmal etwas kopflos und unstrukturiert, wie er selbst sagt, aber meisten erfolgreich. Ich habe mit Michael über die Herausforderungen unserer Zeit gesprochen, aber auch über seine persönlichen Momente des Lebens, in denen er wichtige Entscheidungen treffen musste. Ich habe versucht zu verstehen, was ihn antreibt und inwieweit die humanitäre Arbeit sein Leben und das seiner Familie beeinflusst.

Mein heutiger Gast hat Erfahrungen als Schauspielerin gesammelt und gründete im Jahr 2003 die Rockband Karpatenhund, die sie selbst als Frontsängerin anführte. Heute ist Claire Oelkers Reporterin und Moderatorin. Sie arbeitet für das bekannte TV Magazin Galileo und schlüpft in der Rubrik XDays regelmäßig in die Rolle unterschiedlicher Berufe. Sie ist zudem Host des Podcasts „Bye bye Co2“, in dem sie die wohl größte Herausforderung unserer Zeit thematisiert, den Klimawandel. Ich sprach mit Claire über ihre Arbeit als TV Reporterin und auch darüber was sie heute am meisten beschäftigt. Zudem wollte ich erfahren, wie sie mit dem frühen Tod ihres Vater umgegangen ist und welche Lehren sie aus ihrer beruflich schwersten Zeit gezogen hat. Heute darf ich Florian Froschmayer bei uns begrüßen, einen gebürtigen Schweizer, der für seine Leidenschaft Filme zu drehen nach Deutschland ausgewandert ist. Als Florian an der renommierten HFF München abgelehnt wurde, hat dies seinen Ehrgeiz, Regisseur zu werden und Filme in Deutschland zu machen, erst Recht angestachelt. Heute hat Florian in mittlerweile über 60 Filmen und Serien Episoden Regie geführt und ist in seiner Generation einer der erfahrendsten Regisseure hierzulande. Nicht nur sein Weg ins Filmgeschäft hat mich interessiert, sondern auch wie sich das Pendeln zwischen Zürich und Berlin und später zwischen Berlin und Los Angeles auf sein Leben ausgewirkt hat. Als großer Amerika-Liebhaber war es schon immer sein Wunsch, auch in der wohl renommiertesten Filmindustrie der Welt Fuß zu fassen. Was er für diesen Schritt aufgeben musste und welche Herausforderungen die Corona-Pandemie mit sich brachte, darüber habe ich mich u.a. mit Florian Froschmayer in unserer heutigen Episode unterhalten.

Tugba Tekkal ist die Tochter osttürkischer Einwanderer. Ihre Eltern kamen in den 70er Jahren nach Deutschland, da sie als Kurden und Teil der jesidischen Glaubensgemeinschaft verfolgt wurden. Tugba galt einst als Stillste und Zurückhaltendste in ihrer Familie. Mit ihren Eltern und 10 Geschwistern lebte sie in einer 4- Zimmerwohnung in Hannover, wo es stets laut und lebhaft zuging. Privatsphäre gab es in der Regel nicht. Der Fußball, den sie so liebte, aber über lange Zeit nicht offiziell spielen durfte, gab ihr das, was Schule und das Umfeld nicht möglich machten: Anerkennung und Selbstvertrauen. Heute ist Tugba, wie auch 3 ihrer Geschwister, Gründerin der Menschenrechtsorganisation HAWAR.help. Zudem initierte sie 2016 das Projekt Scoring Girls, das Mädchen und jungen Frauen aus zugewanderten Familien durch Bildung und Bewegung das Gefühl der Zugehörigkeit vermittelt. Welche Erfahrungen sie als Kind einer Migrationsfamilie in einer fremden Kultur gemacht und wie sie sich vom introvertierten Kind  zum Fußballprofi und zur AktivistIn gewandelt hat, darüber haben wir u. a. in unserer heutigen Folge von From Done to Dare gesprochen.

Unser heutiger Gast ist eine ehemalige Arbeitskollegin und aktuell Sportjournalistin und Fernsehmoderatorin. Lena Cassel präsentiert für Prime Video die Highlightshow der UEFA Champions League und moderiert mit ihrem Kollegen Maik Nöcker den Fussball Podcasts MML Daily. Schon früh interessierte sie sich für Fußball und spielte u. a. für Fortuna Köln und Türkiyemsport Berlin. Fußball ist für Lena mehr als nur das Ergebnis. Fussball ist Gemeinschaft und Familie! Mit ihrem detaillierten Fachwissen und der authentischen Art schafft sie es stets, erfrischend durch die Sendungen zu führen. Ihre scheinbare Lockerheit vor der Kamera beeindruckt mich immer wieder. Sie bezieht mutig Stellung zu gesellschaftspolitischen Themen und scheut sich auch nicht, einem Uli Hoeneß zu widersprechen. Ihr Mut und ihre Sicherheit wurden ihr allerdings nicht in die Wiege gelegt. Es sind vielmehr die Werte, die sie vertritt und ausführliche Vorbereitungen auf die Sendungen, die ihr die nötige Leichtigkeit und das Selbstbewusstsein verleihen.

Unsere heutige Ausgabe von From Done to Dare widmen wir einer ganz besonderen Frau. Margot Friedländer ist mit 101 Jahren eine der wenigen überlebenden Zeit-Zeuginnen des Holocaust und Trägerin des Bundesverdienstkreuzes 1. Klasse. Noch heute spricht Margot regelmäßig in Schulen und auf diversen Veranstaltungen über ihre schrecklichen Erlebnisse und wiederholt eindringlich die wohl prägnanteste und wichtigste Botschaft: "Seid Menschen". Margot Friedländer hat während des 2. Weltkrieges ihre Mutter und ihren Bruder verloren, die beide im Konzentrationslager Auschwitz umkamen. Sie musste ihren Schmerz verarbeiten und zugleich um ihr eigenes Leben fürchten. Nach Kriegsende zog sie mit ihrem Mann nach New York und kehrte 60 Jahre später zurück in ihre Heimatstadt Berlin. Ihre stets positive und lebhafte Ausstrahlung, aber auch ihre immense Energie und Lebensfreude haben mich von unserer ersten Begegnung an stets beeindruckt. Ich bin sehr dankbar für unsere Freundschaft und ihre Bereitschaft, heute zu Gast in unserem Podcast gewesen zu sein. Zu Anfang wird Margot aus ihrem Buch "Versuche dein Leben zu machen" vorlesen, bevor wir in das eigentliche Gespräch eintreten. Meet the man whose research inspired the SAM campaign. Om P. Gandhi, Emeritus Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering with the University of Utah, taught courses on biological effects of antennas, RF and microwave electromagnetic fields for over 50 years. Prof. Om P. Gandhi is a world expert on how mobile phone radiation penetrates the human brain. Once a consultant to major cell phone companies, Gandhi now refuses to work with them.  He has authored or co-authored several book chapters, and over 200 journal articles in electromagnetic dosimetry, microwave tubes, and solid-state devices. He also edited a book entitled Biological Effects and Medical Applications of Electromagnetic Energy and co-edited a book entitled Electromagnetic Biointeraction. Dr. Gandhi was elected as a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering in 1997. He was the Chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Utah, from 1992 to 1999, the President of the Bioelectromagnetics Society from 1992 to 1993, the Co-Chairman of the IEEE SCC 28. IV Subcommittee on the RF Safety Standards from 1988 to 1997, and the Chairman of the IEEE Committee on Man and Radiation from 1980 to 1982. He received the d'Arsonval Medal of the Bioelectromagnetics Society for pioneering contributions to the field of bioelectromagnetics in 1995, the Microwave Pioneer Award of the IEEE MTTS in 2001, and the State of Utah Governor's Medal for Science and Technology in 2002. “The SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) for a 10-year old is up to 153% higher than the SAR for the SAM model and MRI scans of children between 5 and 8 years of age and found approximately 2 times higher SAR in children compared to adults. When electrical properties are considered, a child's head's absorption can be over two times greater, and absorption of the skull's bone marrow can be ten times greater than adults” – O. P. One of the major goals of the tokamak fusion program is the understanding and control of plasma turbulence. Turbulence causes additional radial transport of heat and particles to the tokamak vessel walls, thereby degrading the overall confinement of the plasma. Diagnostics for the study of tokamak turbulence are unfortunately scarce and limited in what they can measure. A new diagnostic technique, Doppler reflectometry, has been developed for measurements of plasma rotation profiles and turbulence properties. It is a type of microwave radar technique which uses the back-scatter of microwaves from a radial position in the plasma where the refractive index equals zero. In this thesis work, the technique is extended for turbulence correlation measurements by adding a second Doppler reflectometer channel where two microwave beams are launched into the plasma with a small frequency difference. A radial correlation Doppler reflectometer system can provide simultaneous measurements of the plasma radial electric field Er and its shear (both parameters are believed to be fundamental for suppressing turbulence) together with measurements of the properties of the plasma turbulence, such as the radial correlation length of the turbulence Lr. These measurements are explored in this thesis work for a wide range of plasma conditions. It was found that Er and its associated shear are indeed linked to plasma confinement. Their absolute values increase with confinement at the plasma edge. An increase in the absolute value of Er shear was also detected at the same plasma edge region where a decrease in radial correlation lengths of the turbulence was measured. This observation is in agreement with theoretical models which predict that an increase in the absolute shear suppresses turbulent fluctuations in the plasma, leading to a reduction in Lr. Measurements of Lr versus the perpendicular wavenumber of the turbulence were also obtained, which prompted an investigation of the correlation Doppler reflectometer response function using a 2-dimensional finite difference time domain (FDTD) code. The simulation results show that the magnitude of the measured Lr is dependent on the radial, poloidal and perpendicular wavenumbers of the turbulence.
