Jon’s daughter Jodie returns to the witness box for a searching cross examination on Day 4 of the inquest. She volunteers that she looked in the boot of the Ford Falcon on the morning that she says her father arrived at the Shire hair salon, Intercutz, after the overnight drive from Lennox. If Bronwyn’s body was in the boot en route to be concealed somewhere in the Shire – a theory which Jon emphatically denies – Jodie didn’t see it. Her memory of events was generally vague. Jodie couldn’t recall anything to do with suggestions of violence against Bronwyn. Murray reveals he’s grown and used marijuana but denies it’s affected his memory. The original police investigation in 1993 is criticised by the Coroner. He goes to Sandstone Crescent to walk around and see it for himself. Andy seeks expert advice about the x-raying of a concrete slab at a house in Illawong in The Shire – the place he refers to as God's Country, where he and Bronwyn grew up. After getting more intel about a concrete pour in May 1993, Andy and Madi visit and are more suspicious about what went on at the former building site in Illawong where Jon had been bricklaying. Jon's friend at the time, builder Glenn Webster, discloses knowledge of his former family home and an area which would have been easiest to dig to conceal a body. A neighbour reveals something Chrystal told her about the boot of the Ford Falcon. It alarmed her at the time and has troubled her since 1993. Season 2 of Bronwyn winds down with Season 3 returning early 2025. The ‘smoking gun' is data from the phone company about any local calls made from Sandstone Crescent on the night of May 16, 1993. Jon insists that Bronwyn made a couple of local calls, then a car came to pick her up and she disappeared. But if no local calls were made, his story falls over. Hedley and Karina hunt for local call data which fell between the cracks during previous police investigations. Terry and Heather Freeman track down a Ford Falcon XF sedan with a large LPG tank to test if there was space for Bronwyn's body to fit in the boot. Andy, Hedley and Madi meet in the Shire to investigate the house Jon was helping build in May 1993. Jon drove the Ford Falcon overnight from Lennox Head to the Shire hours after Bronwyn vanished. One or two days later, a concrete pour made a garage slab and a large patio at the house. [Lo] he escuchado... varias veces... »... Al Hermano Pablo le gustó. »—¿Qué [piensas], Juan? — [le] preguntó a su compañero. »—A mí me gusta.

As cars become more and more complex and ECU reflashing technology becomes more advanced, the gap between sticking with a vehicle's factory computer and going to an aftermarket standalone only gets narrower and a little less clear. On this episode of Tuned In, we dive into this topic, along with many others, with PCMTec's Roland Harrison.Use “PCMTEC50” to get 50% OFF our HPA Practical Reflash Course: https://hpcdmy.co/reflashbAs a co-owner and founder of PCMTec, Roland is extremely well versed in the world of reflashing, with the company traditionally focusing its efforts on the Australian market Ford Falcon platforms, which of course includes the famous four-litre Barra straight six. Recently though, PCMTec has been moving into the more global Ford market, offering advanced tuning options for Mustang, F150, and Explorer models. It wasn't always all about cars for Roland though, having spent a good majority of his working life in the oil and gas industry, calibrating and maintaining massive industrial engines and electrical systems. After learning all he could from the business, Roland, along with a business partner, decided to turn his hobby of messing around with reflashing into a business and full-time career. Roland takes us through the whats, whys, and hows of making this transition — even spending some time discussing some of the more surprisingly interesting aspects of his work in oil and gas. With that said, the real meat and potatoes of this conversation come when Roland and host Andre Simon move into the world of reflashing, discussing all aspects of this sometimes very complicated field. There's a lot to learn here as Roland breaks down the process of creating a reflash solution for Ford's sometimes extremely complex ECUs, as well as how they've added an impressive array of custom functionality to these computers, and more. You'll also find a great discussion around one of the main differences between most reflash options and standalone ECUs — live tuning, as well as map switching on the fly and plenty more.PCMTech is currently offering solid discounts off its US DIY and Workshop Editor editions, and the deep dive development blog mentioned in this episode can be found here.Follow PCMTec here:IG: @pcmtecFB: PCMTECYT: PCMTEC TuningWWW: pcmtec.comDon't forget, you can use “PCMTEC50” to get 50% OFF our HPA Practical Reflash Course: https://hpcdmy.co/reflashbTime Stamps:3:38 How did you get involved in the automotive scene?5:40 Do you have any formal mechanical education?13:28 PID algorithm cross over from oil and gas to auto industry19:01 Mechanical issues vs software issues while tuning23:25 Ziegler Nichols Method?25:18 How did PCMTec come about?42:25 Accessing parameters within the ECU based on the amount of modifications44:36 Features you've added that weren't available in the OE controller.48:13 Reasons for re-flashing over standalone ECU51:55 How do you add features into an OE controller1:03:13 Overview of PCMTec today1:09:22 Weighing up functionality options for software1:13:25 Do you support live tuning or is it re-flash only?1:24:25 How does your data logging work?1:29:56 Are you providing any support for trans tuning?1:34:13 Final three questions

¡Ojo!

“Miss Country Soul” Jeannie Seely was one of the premier female singers of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Known for her big heart, emotion-packed voice, and salty wisecracks on stage – “Of course I want you for your body. I've got a mind of my own;” “An ex-husband is one mistake you don't have to live with;” and others – she blazed a nonconformist trail in Nashville, sporting a miniskirt her first time onstage at the Grand Ole Opry and a sassy attitude wherever she went. The youngest of four children, petite, blonde Seely was never a stranger to work – or to country music. Her father worked at a local steel mill and on the family's farm, but on weekends played the banjo and called local square dances, and her mother sang with her every Saturday morning while the two baked bread. Soon, Jeannie was singing regularly on local radio station WMGW and, by age 16, on Erie television station WICU. At 21, Seely and three girlfriends moved to Los Angeles, where she worked as a deejay on Armed Forces Radio Network, wrote songs for Four Star Music (Dottie West and Connie Smith performed some of her early tunes), sang on country television show “Hollywood Jamboree,” and recorded for Challenge Records. Passing through town, songwriter Hank Cochran encouraged her to bring her talents to Nashville. She turned up unexpectedly in 1965 (with $50 and a Ford Falcon to her name) and announced to Cochran, “Well, I'm here! Cochran. Within three weeks it was on the country charts, peaking at No. 2. Her performance of the song earned Seely the 1966 GRAMMY award and led to a string of hits through the late 1970s. Today she is among the small group of artists who has had a No. 1 hit as a soloist, a duet partner, and a songwriter, and “Don't Touch Me” is considered a country standard.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/success-made-to-last-legends--4302039/support.

In this episode I am joined by Andrew Brown of the Scottish architecture studio Brown and Brown, that he co-founded with his wife just over 10 years ago. We discuss their most recent project, Lower Tullochgrue. The project is an extension and refurbishment of an historic house in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland, with amazing views over the Spey Valley. The existing house is set on an outcrop and they have extended it with a black box that cantilevers out over the sloping landscape to create a covered area for the clients 1960's Ford Falcon. In the interview we talk about the stunning location, I find out how the builder had a local dis-used quarry re-opened so that they could use stone that matched the original house and how Andrew tells me how Donald Trump's book ‘the art of the deal' has been used to create a secret door handle to a concealed downstairs toilet. At the end of the episode, I ask Andrew the three questions I ask all my podcast guests;– what really annoys him about his home?– what house has he visited that has really inspired him?– and, if he could choose anyone to design him a new house, who would he choose?I hope you enjoy listening!

This week we welcome, star of The Grand Ole Opry, Jeannie Seely! On the night of September 16, 1967, Jeannie Seely marked an important milestone in her music career by joining the world-famous Grand Ole Opry. The distinctive-voiced lady referred to as “Miss Country Soul” became the first Pennsylvania native to become an Opry member. Today Jeannie makes clear that it's still a thrill and an honor each time she performs on the Opry stage. "I feel very fortunate to be part of the Opry tradition," the Grammy-winning singer says, "and I truly am indebted to all the wonderful fans who have supported me over the years.” Jeannie Seely is among a select group of country artists who have scored chart- topping hits as a solo artist, as a duet partner, and as a songwriter. Born on July 6, 1940, in Titusville, Pennsylvania – the town where the world’s very first oil well was drilled in 1859 – Jeannie grew up as the youngest of Leo and Irene Seely's four children. The family's two-story farmhouse still stands along a dirt road outside of nearby Townville, a community of about 300 folks located in the northwestern corner of the Keystone State. Jeannie's interest in music was influenced strongly by her parents. Leo Seely worked hard on the family's farm and at a Titusville steel mill, but found time on weekends to play the banjo and call local square dances. Irene Seely would sing with her daughter every Saturday morning while the two baked bread together. “I grew up in a time when all the neighbors gathered together to help each other get the hay in and that kind of thing,” recalls Jeannie. “It seemed like everybody back in the country played guitars and fiddles, and when we got together there was always pickin’ and singin’.” When she was barely tall enough to reach the dial on her family's big Philco console radio, Jeannie was tuning in the Grand Ole Opry on station WSM 650. At age 11, she began singing for a Saturday morning radio show on Meadville station WMGW. "I can still remember standing on a stack of wooden soda cases because I wasn't tall enough to reach the unadjustable microphones," she laughs. By age 16, Jeannie was performing on television station WICU in Erie. Jeannie recalls many Saturday nights as a teenager when she would sit in her family's car, eat popcorn and listen to the Grand Ole Opry while her parents played cards at the homes of friends. "I also remember looking forward to attending country music shows at a place near Franklin called Hillbilly Park," says Jeannie. “They would do an afternoon and an evening show. Mother would bake a chicken and fix up a picnic basket, and we’d just go there and spend the whole day and the evening. I was always on the ground right in front of the front row, looking up at the stage.” At Hillbilly Park Jeannie had the opportunity to see performers like Bill Monroe and Ralph Stanley, as well as Josh Graves who would later play on her Life’s Highway CD. "I still have the 8 by 10 photos I bought and had autographed there by stars like Jean Shepard, Little Jimmy Dickens, and Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper," she proudly notes. “I’ve been very blessed to later become friends with these Opry legends.” A cheerleader, majorette, and honor student while attending Townville High School, Jeannie sang at local amateur contests and began performing at weekend dances throughout northwestern Pennsylvania. "Back then a lot of people made fun of me because I sang country," she admits today. "In those days calling somebody 'country' was actually a put-down." Jeannie remembers how the residents of tiny Townville didn't believe that anyone, especially a female, could make a living by singing or writing songs. "Some people didn't even think it was right for a girl to be singing with a band at dances,” she remembers. Following high school graduation in 1958, Jeannie worked for three years at the Titusville Trust Company. Initially hired as a stenographer at the bank, she was later promoted to a secretarial position for the bank's auditor. During this period Jeannie continued her education by completing night classes that were conducted by the American Institute of Banking in Oil City. "Those courses in subjects like business finance and law were beneficial even later in my music career," Jeannie says. Both the local and national American Institute of Banking organizations have since made Jeannie an honorary lifetime member for her efforts in promoting the name and spirit of the organization. According to Jeannie, it was the weather conditions one Sunday morning on a country back road that finalized her decision to move to California. "It was Easter, and I got my car stuck in a snow bank," she chuckles. "I had to walk the whole way home in my new dress to get my Dad's help. I decided right then and there that I was ready to make a change." At age 21, Jeannie packed everything she could into her car, shipped the rest to "General Delivery, Los Angeles", and headed west. She initially took a job at a Beverly Hills bank, but left it after a year to take a secretarial position for half the money at Liberty and Imperial Records in Hollywood. With a foot in the door of the music business, she began writing songs for Four Star Music and became a regular act, along with an unknown Glen Campbell, on the "Hollywood Jamboree" television series. Rhythm and blues artist Irma Thomas recorded a composition by Jeannie titled "Anyone Who Knows What Love Is" and scored a national pop and R&B hit with it. Jeannie's songwriting led to her own recording contract on Challenge Records. A couple regional hits and a West Coast tour resulted, but unfortunately she received no national attention. A young songwriter visiting California named Hank Cochran was impressed with Jeannie's talent and suggested she move to Nashville. Jeannie, however, didn't think she was ready. Upon the encouragement of singer Dottie West who recorded one of her songs, Jeannie finally moved to Nashville in the fall of 1965. "When I arrived in town, I only had $50 and a Ford Falcon to my name," she recalls. "Within a month though, Porter Wagoner hired me to replace Norma Jean as the female singer for his road show and syndicated television series." Initially turned down by every record label in town, Jeannie finally got the big break she needed when a recording contract was offered by Monument Records. She went in the studio and recorded a Hank Cochran ballad titled "Don't Touch Me" on March 12, 1966. Within only a few weeks the song debuted on the country music charts where it stayed for over five months. Although it held at the No. 2 position for three weeks on Billboard, the record went to No. 1 on all the other major charts, including Cashbox and Record World. It was also a crossover hit on the national pop charts. Today "Don't Touch Me" is considered a standard in country music. Jeannie’s recording of the song is ranked at No. 97 in the book titled Heartaches By the Number: Country Music's 500 Greatest Singles written by David Cantwell and Bill Friskics-Warren. The book, released in 2003, was published by the Vanderbilt University Press and the Country Music Foundation Press. “Don’t Touch Me” is also included in The Stories Behind Country Music’s All-Time Greatest 100 Songs written by Ace Collins and published by Boulevard Books. The author writes, “Cochran’s ‘Don’t Touch Me’ has stood the test of time like few other works. Hauntingly beautiful, poetry set to meter, this composition merits particular praise for the exquisite manner in which it relates its story of love, doubt, and commitment.” The book describes how Buck Owens desperately wanted the song that Jeannie ultimately recorded and made a hit. Country versions of “Don’t Touch Me” have been recorded by Don Gibson, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Lorrie Morgan, Ray Price, Lynn Anderson, Eddy Arnold, Barbara Mandrell, Roy Clark, Jack Greene, Dottie West, and many others (but none were charted singles). The popularity of “Don’t Touch Me” has crossed all musical styles – Etta James recorded a rhythm and blues version, Carolyn Hester a folk version, Bettye Swann a soul version, and Eleni Mandell a pop version. A reggae version was even recorded by Nicky Thomas. In June of 1966 Jeannie was invited to make her first guest appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. She received "Most Promising New Artist" awards that same year from all the national trade publications including Billboard, Cashbox, and Record World, as well as from polls of country music fans and radio DJs across the country. On March 2, 1967, the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences honored Jeannie with the 1966 Grammy Award for the "Best Country Vocal Performance by a Female". Edging out friends and fellow nominees Loretta Lynn (“Don’t Come Home A Drinkin’”), Dottie West (“Would You Hold It Against Me”), Connie Smith (“Ain’t Had No Loving”), and Jan Howard (“Evil On your Mind”), Jeannie Seely became only the third female country artist to receive the coveted Grammy. She accepted her award from Chet Atkins. With a successful breakthrough hit, Jeannie found herself traveling from coast to coast for concert appearances. The new demands forced her to leave Porter Wagoner's show – and today Jeannie jokes that she was replaced by friend Dolly Parton because Dolly’s ‘hits’ were bigger. New opportunities for Jeannie included many concert and television appearances with the legendary Ernest Tubb. On the liner notes for one of Jeannie's early albums, the legendary Tubb wrote, "She puts heart and soul into every ballad she sings. Whether a new song or an old one, when Jeannie sings it, it becomes 'Jeannie's song'." In September of 1967, Jeannie fulfilled her lifelong dream by joining the Grand Ole Opry. She remembers her Opry induction, attended by her parents from Pennsylvania, as "a very emotional night." "I started crying," she recalls, "and then I encored and that was even worse." Often referred to as the "Mother Church of Country Music", the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville was home to the Opry when Jeannie became a member. Although hot in the summer and drafty in the winter, Jeannie says the Ryman had a magic all its own. She fondly recalls sharing a crowded dressing room, which was actually the ladies restroom, with fellow performers like Minnie Pearl and Barbara Mandrell (who today lists Jeannie as one of her major influences). After 31 years at the Ryman, the Grand Ole Opry moved on March 16, 1974, to the new 4,400 seat Opry House on the grounds of the Opryland theme park. At the much- publicized grand opening show which was broadcast on over 1,300 radio stations worldwide, special guest President Richard Nixon told the audience, "Some girls have looks but can't sing. Others can sing but don't have looks. Jeannie Seely's got them both." That quote subsequently appeared in newspapers across the country. Known throughout her career as an individualist, as well as for her infectious humor, Jeannie Seely is widely recognized for changing the image of female country performers. Jeannie is in fact credited for breaking the "calico curtain" by being the first woman to wear a mini-skirt on the Grand Ole Opry stage. "I really didn't think anything of it at the time, but it did cause quite a stir," she laughs. "The Opry manager even called me into his office." In their book Finding Her Voice: The Saga of Women in Country Music, authors Mary Bufwack and Robert Oermann wrote, "Jeannie's frank talk, striking intelligence, free- spirited life-style, and deeply moving vocals have long set her apart from most female country stars. When she arrived in Nashville in 1965, women were still expected to portray the submissive country sweetheart. Jeannie blazed a nonconformist trail from the moment she hit the Opry in her miniskirt...." A string of hit records in the late '60's and early '70's solidified Jeannie's reputation as a country torch singer and earned her the nickname of "Miss Country Soul", a title still frequently used today. Country Music Hall of Fame member Marty Robbins once said, "Jeannie Seely is one of the great stylists of our time." When at home, Jeannie made frequent guest appearances on television shows like "Hee Haw" and “That Nashville Music”. On March 22, 1970, Jeannie was a featured guest on "Glen Campbell's Goodtime Hour" on CBS-TV. Working with distinguished producers like Fred Foster and Owen Bradley, the blonde, blue-eyed singer recorded more than a dozen albums and over two dozen singles on the Monument, Decca, MCA, and Columbia labels. Jeannie placed singles on Billboard's national country music charts for 13 consecutive years from 1966 through 1978. Among over two dozen hits were "It's Only Love,” "A Wanderin' Man,” "I'll Love You More,” "He Can Be Mine,” "Welcome Home To Nothing,” "Little Things,” "Farm in Pennsyltucky,” and "When It's Over.” In 1973 Jeannie transformed the hobo lament "Can I Sleep In Your Barn Tonight Mister?" into the top ten hit "Can I Sleep In Your Arms?". The following year she adapted the Appalachian ballad "Come All You Fair And Tender Ladies" into another hit single titled "Lucky Ladies.” For two years Jeannie served as a radio disc jockey on her own Armed Forces Network Show, and for several months she traveled on military tours throughout Europe and Asia. Upon returning from an overseas tour, Jeannie noted during an Opry performance that there was no U.S. flag — a patriotic symbol that she was accustomed to seeing. There has been an American flag displayed on the Opry stage ever since. A 1969 duet recorded with fellow Opry member Jack Greene titled "Wish I Didn't Have to Miss You" went to No. 1 on the charts and launched one of the most successful duos and road shows in country music history. Nominated for numerous Country Music Association (CMA) awards and a Grammy, Jack Greene and Jeannie Seely toured together for over ten years, performing everywhere from New York's Madison Square Garden to London's Wembley Arena. The duo changed the format of “package shows” and were considered forerunners in opening doors and bringing country music to wider audiences around the world. Through a special invitation from the White House they were named Goodwill Ambassadors to the annual United Nations Concert. A long list of artists – including Dottie West, Norma Jean, Tex Williams, Lorrie Morgan, Jack Greene, Chris LeDoux, Doyle Lawson, and Hank Williams, Jr. – have recorded compositions written by Jeannie. In 1972, Faron Young took “Leavin’ And Sayin’ Goodbye” to the No. 1 position, earning Jeannie a BMI Songwriter’s Award. In addition to Faron Young, other Country Music Hall of Fame members have recorded Jeannie’s songs – including Merle Haggard, Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Little Jimmy Dickens, Ernest Tubb, Grandpa Jones, and Connie Smith. The lyrics to one of Jeannie’s songs was used for a Hallmark greeting card. For several years Jeannie was married to Hank Cochran, the writer of such songs as “Make The World Go Away.” “She’s Got You,” “I Fall To Pieces,” “The Chair,” and “Ocean Front Property.” The marriage – the first for Jeannie but the fourth for Hank – finally ended in a divorce. In 1977 the career of Jeannie Seely almost ended abruptly when she was involved in a near fatal automobile accident that left her with serious multiple injuries. "You know, it sounds like a cliche, but it's true that your perspective changes when you have a close call," she reflects. "What you took for granted you come to appreciate more." It was with the help and support of best friend Dottie West that Jeannie was able to recover and get back on her feet. Ironically, Dottie West's death in 1991 was due to injuries she suffered in an automobile accident while en route to the Opry. "I still think about Dottie all the time and miss her very much," says Jeannie. In 1995 she served as a consultant for the CBS television movie about Dottie’s life titled Big Dreams and Broken Hearts: The Dottie West Story. Jeannie was portrayed in the movie by actress Cathy Worthington. In the early 80's, Jeannie performed as the opening act for friend Willie Nelson's concert dates across the country. She also appeared in Willie's successful Honeysuckle Rose movie and sang on the soundtrack recording, a contribution which earned her a platinum album. Jeannie became the first female artist to regularly host half-hour segments of the Grand Ole Opry. Those hosting duties actually began on January 19, 1985, when she was called upon as a last minute replacement for Del Reeves, the scheduled host, who was caught in a rare Nashville snowstorm. During the late 80's Jeannie starred in several major stage productions. She played Jean Shepard’s daughter and Lorrie Morgan’s mother in the 1986 country musical called Takin' It Home. In 1988 she portrayed "Miss Mona" in a sold-out run of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and the following year took a nonmusical role as the title character in Everybody Loves Opal. In 1988 Jeannie published her own book, Pieces of a Puzzled Mind, containing a collection of Jeannie's unique witticisms. The popular book was out of print for several years, but Jeannie republished the book in 2012. Also known as "Seely-isms" around Nashville, Jeannie notes that many of the sayings actually began as song titles or opening lines. “County music has made so many of my dreams come true,” Jeannie wrote in the book, “I just wish someone would have warned me about the nightmares.” One of the most popular quotes from the book is “You don’t have to kiss anyone’s a-- in this world, but sometimes it’s best to bend a little bit and make ‘em think you’re goin’ to.” Jeannie portrayed lead singer Danny Shirley’s mother in Confederate Railroad’s 1993 chart-topping music video for the song “Trashy Women”. She also was featured in a video shot at Dollywood for the song “Wrapped Around” by fellow Opry member Brad Paisley who took Jeannie as his date to the 2000 CMA Awards Show. Ironically, the video was shown during Brad’s performance on the 2001 CMA Awards Show – and Jeannie could be seen in the video clip. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s, Jeannie appeared frequently on shows like “Nashville Now,” “Crook and Chase,” “Music City Tonight,” “Grand Ole Opry Live,” “You Can Be A Star,” “Family Feud,” and “Prime Time Country.” She served as a regular host of “Opry Backstage,” interviewing everyone from new and upcoming acts to superstars like Garth Brooks. County artist Lorrie Morgan recorded a song co-written by Jeannie titled "I've Enjoyed As Much Of This As I Can Stand" for her 1997 album Shakin' Things Up. Lorrie has credited Jeannie as being a major influence in her career and often refers to the Opry cohort as her "second mom.” Lorrie’s father, the late George Morgan, was an Opry star who became a close friend of Jeannie’s. “I admire Lorrie not only for her musical talent, but because she also inherited that wonderful sense of humor that her dad had,” notes Jeannie. “I don’t take lightly the fact that I was fortunate enough to know people like George Morgan, to work with him, and then to go on and become friends and work with his daughter. That’s pretty amazing.” Together Jeannie and Lorrie sang George’s hit “Candy Kisses” for an Opry anniversary special televised on CBS. According to Jeannie, recent years have been some of the busiest years of her career. Nashville music critic Robert K. Oermann wrote in his 2003 book Finding Her Voice: Women In Country Music, "With her chin-out, tough/tender, heart-of-gold manner, Jeannie Seely remains one of country's most completely modern female personalities." Jeannie has entertained on several cruise ships, including the week-long Grand Ole Opry cruises, and for several summers she performed at the Dollywood theme park. She’salso been part of a successful overseas tour with the "Grand Ladies of the Grand Ole Opry,” Jeannie performed on extensive tours of Ireland in both 2008 and 2009. Jeannie continues to enjoy acting and for three months in 2000 she portrayed the role of Louise Seger during a successful run of the Always, Patsy Cline musical in Atlantic City. Along with friends Jan Howard and Rita Coolidge, Jeannie filmed the heart-warming motion picture Changing Hearts in late 2001. The movie, which featured Faye Dunaway, Lauren Holly, Tom Skerritt, and Ian Somerhalder, is now available on DVD and VHS. Jeannie portrays a comical role as a do-good Women’s Baptist League hospital volunteer named Mrs. Shelby. Proceeds from the movie help non-profit organizations dedicated to cancer research, education and support. From 2004 to 2007, Jeannie and fellow country singer Helen Cornelius starred in successful runs of the musical production Count It Be Love, including a performance at the historic Ryman Auditorium. In February 2005, Jeannie was featured in a Nashville performance of The Vagina Monologues with fellow entertainers Pam Tillis and Kathy Mattea. Among the many honors and accolades that Jeannie has received is the 2000 induction to the North America Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2003 she was honored with induction into the George D. Hay Music Hall of Fame located in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. Jeannie also received the 2003 Legend Award from Bluebird Country News. In 2006 Jeannie received the Songwriter of the Year Award from the R.O.P.E. (Reunion of Professional Entertainers) organization. In 2007 she received R.O.P.E.’s Entertainer of the Year Award. In 2009 Jeannie was honored with the prestigious Colonel Aide-de-Camp Award presented by Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen. The award recognizes citizens for meritorious public service with the distinction of being included in the Honorable Order of Tennessee Colonels. Also in 2009, an interview conducted by Rik Paleri with Jeannie at the Grand Ole Opry for Rik’s “Songwriters Notebook” television show was permanently entered into the archives of the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. Re-released on CD format, Jeannie Seely's Greatest Hits On Monument continues to receive strong praise, including a review in the All Music Guide To Country. Jeannie’s music projects in recent years include a 23-song anthology CD called Personal, an album or traditional holiday songs titled Number One Christmas and a collection of standards, fan favorites, and duets appropriately labeled Been There, Sung That. In 2001 Jeannie sang with fellow Opry member Ralph Stanley on Clinch Mountain Sweethearts which received an International Bluegrass Music Association Award for “Recorded Event of the Year”, as well as a Grammy nomination for “Bluegrass Album of the Year”. In addition to her own recordings, Jeannie’s vocals can be found on over 75 additional compilation albums and CDs.Her vocals on the Janis Joplin hit “Piece Of My Heart” appear on Bluegrass Goes To Town: Pop Songs Bluegrass Style released in April of 2002. In the fall of 2003 Jeannie released her own acoustic and bluegrass project on OMS Records titled Life’s Highway. The album features musicians Josh Graves, Glen Duncan, Steve Wariner, Jesse McReynolds, and Buck White – as well as harmony vocals from Charlie Louvin, the Osborne Brothers, and the Whites. Country Weekly magazine reviewed the CD and wrote, “Life’s Highway is one of the year’s most welcome surprises – a thoughtful, inventive acoustic winner that’s a much- needed slap in the face for anyone who might have forgotten how Jeannie earned her gig as one of the friendliest faces on the Grand Ole Opry. Jeannie simply owns these 13 tracks...” The recording career of Jeannie Seely spanned six decades with the early 2011 release of a new CD titled Vintage Country which is available on Jeannie’s website and at select retail and online outlets. In 2017, Jeannie’s long-awaited new album Written In Song became available in select stores, through digital retailers, and on her website. The 14-track album contains original songs recorded by artists like Merle Haggard (“Life of a Rodeo Cowboy), Dottie West (“He’s All I Need”), Ernest Tubb (“Sometimes I Do”), Willie Nelson (“Senses”) and several more. Written In Song topped the list of CMT’s ‘New Albums in the New Year,’ and The Boot’s ‘Most Anticipated Albums’ and it continues to receive great reviews: She is “Miss Country Soul,” a beloved member of the Grand Ole Opry, a country icon and a Pennsylvania hit-maker well before Taylor Swift was born... Seely’s latest album WRITTEN IN SONG features 14 updated timeless classics she has written and co-written. -CMT.com, Lauren Tingle Jeannie Seely proves that her songs and her voice are as great as they ever were on this fantastic new album. -Roughstock, Matt Bjorke The country music singer has written songs for numerous artists and it’s refreshing to hear her voice along with her very own take and production on these songs. These are, after all, her songs to sing and she certainly has the vocal prowess to do so! -Backstage Axxess, Dee Haley Jeannie Seely soars on her new album, Written in Song. "Miss Country Soul" is back stronger than ever. There is a variety on her latest musical effort. It garners an A rating. -Digital Journal, Markos Papadatos Jeannie brought back the traditional country sound that fans have been longing for on Written In Song. Tracks include “Leavin’ & Sayin’ Goodbye” featuring special guests Kenny and Tess Sears, “Senses” with guests Connie Smith and Marty Stuart and “We’re Still Hangin’ In There Ain’t We Jessi” with Jan Howard and Jessi Colter. Written In Song is distributed by Smith Music Group. “Written In Song is such an exciting project for me for many reasons,” states Seely. “It consists of 14 songs that I have written over the years, most of them recorded by my peers and my heroes. It’s also very rewarding to know that these songs have stood the test of time and are just as viable today. I am extremely grateful to the musicians and singers who made them sound brand new.” For the past three decades Jeannie has lived close to the Grand Ole Opry in a quaint and comfortable home along the Cumberland River that she renovated and decorated herself. A major setback occurred in May 2010 when Jeannie lost her home, car and personal belongings in the devastating Nashville flood. Jeannie decided to rebuild her home and returned to it around the same time the Grand Ole Opry returned to the Opry House, her second home, which was also damaged. On November 20, 2010, Jeannie married Nashville attorney Gene Ward. Jeannie routinely performs at benefit shows for a wide variety of charities and causes. She has served as the co-host for the annual awards program for SOURCE, a nonprofit organization seeking to unify women executives and professionals that work in all facets of the Nashville music industry. Jeannie is proud to serve as a longtime spokesperson for the Humane Society by recording public service announcements and by serving as a HSUS “Special Friend” involved in supporting their animal protection programs. Jeannie is actively involved in numerous other organizations and causes such as the Opry Trust Fund (which provides financial assistance to needy individuals in the country music industry) and R.O.P.E. (Reunion Of Professional Entertainers). In April 2017, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives unanimously approved House Resolution 259 honoring Jeannie Seely on her 50th anniversary as a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In accepting the honor Jeannie noted, “Never have I been more proud of my heritage than I was today. It is my hope that I will always represent Pennsylvania in a manner that would make them proud of their native daughter, and I thank them for this distinguished honor.” Jeannie will be honored by the Nashville Association of Talent Directors (NATD) at their 7th Annual NATD Honors Gala scheduled for November 14, 2017, at the Hermitage Hotel. NATD has been a vital part of the Nashville Music Business Community by professionally representing, directing, and promoting the entertainment industry through its members. When not booked on concert dates out of town, Jeannie performs weekly on the Grand Ole Opry’s shows. She frequently hosts the Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree, appears on RFD television shows and specials, and has been featured in the Family Reunion TV and DVD tapings. Jeannie will be one of the featured performers on the Country Music Cruise that will set sail in February of 2018. Looking to the future of the Grand Ole Opry, Jeannie hopes for a peaceful coexistence of the old and the new. “I like adding the new talent to the Opry, but I don’t want them to ever change the Opry to where it becomes just another concert venue,” she states. “I like seeing the new artists, but value that tradition also and the uniqueness of it. And the music and all should change and will change. It always has.” “Hopefully, I will see a future of doing pretty much what I have done in the past,” explains Jeannie. “I want to keep doing personal appearances and shows and what I’ve been so blessed to be able to do in my life. I want to be anywhere they ask me to be. There are plenty of life’s highways I want to travel. I’m not done yet.” Jeannie notes, “I want to extend a huge ‘thanks’ to all of you who have been on my bandwagon for such a long time. To those of you just joining us, I hope the ride’s not over - so welcome aboard - and hang on!” Fans can write to Jeannie Seely in care of the Grand Ole Opry, 2804 Opryland Drive, Nashville, TN 37214. Jeannie’s website can be found at www.JeannieSeely.com, and Jeannie maintains a Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/JeannieSeely.

Tiny strands of Ciara Glennon’s hair were sent to the FBI in 1999. Those hair strands in a Petri dish have become vital in the prosecution’s case - allegedly linking Ciara Glennon to the Karrakatta rape victim, and both of them to Telstra shorts, the like Bradley Edwards used to wear as a technician in the 1990s. The blue polyester fibres were two of 41 critical fibres found on Ciara Glennon. Other critical fibres found from who the prosecution says is the third victim of the Claremont Serial Killer, Ciara Glennon, were compared not only the Holden Commodore VS series 1 which Bradley Edwards drove in the late 90s, the database created for the investigation also found several other cars - of different makes and models seemed similar to the grey fibres found in Ciara Glennon’s hair. A Ford Falcon, a 1995 Toyota Camry and a 1997 Toyota Camry were among the cars tested. As both Tim Clarke and Alison Fan explain in this episode, what’s interesting is that the grey fibre ‘corresponded’ with the carpet fibres from the 1997 Toyota Camry, and when asked by Justice Hall, the witness Rees Powell conceded that the 1997 Toyota Camry could be a source for that fibre. But as the podcast team discuss, this is one of 98 fibres, but it’s something the defence would probably jump on when it comes time for Rews Powell’s cross examination. There’s 25 fibres to go in the fibre evidence, with the witness spending a mammoth 6 days on the stand already, it’s expected he will continue to give evidence for the rest of the week. Join Natalie Bonjolo, Tim Clarke and Alison Fan as they discuss day 76. The West Australian has also released a two-part video series, as Tim Clarke takes you through the areas which are key to the trial, from Claremont, where the women went missing, to Hollywood hospital and to the sites were Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon’s bodies were found. Let me share some accolades about today's guest, Mike Rey. Number one, he's  coming back for a second time, which means we did something right AND he said he's heard some really good feedback from you guys about his first appearance here. Mike Rey is the National Director of Marketing and Sales, for Ford's Treasure Collectibles Official Archives Collection, but he's also manager and president of the largest International regional Mustang club (MOCSEM) Mustang Owners Club of South Eastern Michigan, and was on the official launch team for Ford in the 2015 Mustang and the GT 350. Talking about some stories and doing some things around the Mustang club, here to talk Mustangs membership and modifications. Welcome back to the show. Mike,Mike Rey 2:19Thank you so much for having me. I appreciate coming back.Doug Sandler 2:21You're a wealth of information. Man. I love having you here. And thank you for sharing so many of your connections with me. I've gotten a ton of of research done and a lot of people that have agreed to come on the show. And I would say mostly because of you and the positive words you've said about this show what gives man you know, I try to keep my reputation under the under the covers here.Mike Rey 2:41Absolutely. And I love helping out and I actually have more extensive list to share with you as well. People I think are very crucial in the Mustang community from day one, before the car was even built to the current day. So I have a lot more that I can share with you that I think would make the show amazing and what your listeners want to hear.Doug Sandler 2:57Oh, that is great. And I want to tease a couple of Although we haven't gotten commitment from anybody yet from from Mike's list, we have gotten at least a lot of a lot of levels of interest and, and maybe share a name or two. And again, if you don't know these Ford Mustang community, if you don't know these names, it's okay, you're going to know them because I'm going to do my best to make sure I get them here on the air. And, you know, not everybody can be at the reputation to the level of Mike, but we are going to have some folks that are that are amazing and can can share a lot of great stuff. So who can we tease a little bit Mike here?Mike Rey 3:28Well, I would definitely say Dave Pericak, who is the global director of foreign icons right now, who's basically in charge of all the fun stuff so GT 500 Gt 350 Mustang, Bronco, Ford Raptor, the Ford GT the new Ford Mach-E, everything Dave's in charge of all that. Wow. Okay, so that's, that's a good one again, we're gonna tease these a little bit and I'm gonna do my best Ford Mustang community you're gonna hold me responsible for making sure if that if those guests don't make their way to the to our airwaves. It's only because I screwed up. Not because I didn't get me the lead. It's now up to me to to to make sure I bring it in yet another tease would be my former boss at Selene. Amy Boylan. So if anybody's been in the Mustang community for all the years, she was a former president and CEO of Shelby American and brought Shelby to all its glory back in the early 2000s.Doug Sandler 4:21That's great. So I'm really excited to reach out to both of them hopefully, they'll both be positive. I've also reached out to a good connection that Mike has also her name is Mustang Marie. And, and she has agreed to be on the show. She's we're waiting for her to pick a date. Hopefully she'll hear this and be guilted into a little bit and hopefully she'll be on here. If you don't know her. She has a Instagram following of thousands. She's got some great photos up there. Not only of herself with the cars but some great cars, some great modifications and some great great classic rides, as well. And Mike again, thank you so much for for all the great connections you made for us.Mike Rey 4:56Mustang Marie is gonna be awesome for you and she just finally got her Mustang. She's going to tell you that story which is just just absolutely incredible that she's been such a Mustang fan for her whole life and never actually owned a Mustang until now. And it is a first generation Mustang. You know what some more we're going to talk about today too Doug is that I might be able to get you a reach out for Jack Roush Jr. being on the show. He does inteviews every now and then and we are going to be talking about Roush a little bit today. Definitely can reach out to jack for you and see if you'd like to do a episode with you.Doug Sandler 4:59So let's and I appreciate that very much. And that would be that would be a major win. So let's start there. Because I'm really curious because I really don't know a lot about Roush Performance. But you had approached me with maybe this is a subject on today's show. So I started doing some research and some background check about what Roush is all about. So why don't you tell me the position that you that you take about some of their products and then maybe we can share a little bit of your experience with them as well?Mike Rey 5:49Yeah, I was very fortunate to spend four years at Roush. I'm in the marketing department, basically running marketing being marketing manager. Great, great assets of people there. We had an amazing team to put a lot of cool stuff together and what Roush is, is Roush is a manufacturer, but they actually take the Mustang to the next level and now it's f 150s to the next level and they do Raptors and they're doing Super Duty so they keep expanding as they go. But so you're taking a really cool product and forgiving you and they're making it just a tad bit even better, if that's even possible, right? So like even rafter like what could you possibly do to a raptor? Well, that Ross record actually really, really does really well and really performs to the highest level.Doug Sandler 6:33Well, I'm looking at some of the products that they have online everything from spoilers to facials, two scoops to louvers to spoilers in the back and skirts I mean it's a pretty cool and they do a lot with it looks like exhausts and graphics and grills and all sorts of things too.Mike Rey 6:49And the number one thing is probably the superchargers So, you know they're partners with Ford Performance, doing their supercharger, which is one of the best selling superchargers there is on the market and gives us the Power and back. So my full warranty. One of the things I'm very proud of that Roush that I got to accomplish was there is to make the connection and bond between relish performance and for performance and title it partners in performance. So if you see that tagline anywhere that was one of my brainchild that I actually got per, you know, approved by Ford, Henry Ford and Pericak. And Jim Owens all got that approved for me. And that was it still to this day is partners of performance. So that forever linked Roush Performance and Ford Performance together.Doug Sandler 7:31So what's the connection between some of the classic car or some of the classic Mustang so even the first generations back to the to the mid 60s? What's the connection between a mid 60s owner and in a current owner Do you know of a later model or a late model Mustang Do you see a lot of overlap them repeating the purchase and getting now that they've had a classic ride they want something in addition to having that one that they keep in the garage and just kind of baby and love. They're having one that they can actually get out there and really enjoy the speed that they that That a late model can offer.Mike Rey 8:01Yeah, absolutely. So like the first gen owners definitely want to keep that and drive it around and show that off because that's their pride and joy and they want to be able to do that in like the local car shows, things like that. But if you're in Michigan and you want to drive out to California and you want a newer one, you know, you're not going to want to take that older one on that ride. And, you know, actually Roush offers for both people. So a lot of first generation cars are dropping what they call crate engines in there. Whether it could be a new Coyote with a Roush supercharger on it or an old 427 or something that you want to drop in. Roush still builds all those motors for all the old first gen cars and offers that's all the consumers that actually own those vehicles still, who want to do it and a lot of the big vehicles that you see across going across Barrett, the old Hot Rods and stuff or even 32 Fords things like that. All of a lot of them have Roush engines in it so that they're well known in that industry. And then in the newer phase, people are buying the Mustang automatically want to get the Roush exhaust on it are the Roush supercharger, things like that. So they're very, very well known throughout the whole community from the first generation to current.Doug Sandler 9:05Take me through a little bit of the process. So let's say that somebody that's in our listening community, which many people in our listening community have those first gen models. So let's just take a typical 65 or 66, classic, Mustang. And they want to do this what's the I'm not, I'm not holding you responsible for knowing the exact process that Roush goes through when they when they install or when they when they share a crate with you. But how does that process work? Like I would have no idea where to even begin on something like that. So where does somebody that's listening, even think about the opportunity to drop something Roush under the hood,Mike Rey 9:37They're usually at a lot of local shows. And that's you brought it up just like a perfect segue into a new one is Jim Kemp is the head of Roush engines, I can set up an interview with you too is that with him is that he can actually provide all that information in great detail but usually what happens is there's a website on Roush that you can get into the engine area. I'd have to get that for you they specific link for you. But also, they're usually at the shows like they were just recently at Barrett Jackson there at the Good Guys show, which is a lot of the older cars, if you will, first generations. And you can talk to them and get your specs and tell them what you're wanting. And then they can basically custom build the engine for you and put in your car. A cool story that we did that actually put this in effect, it's a more of a newer engine, but we put it into an older car. You ever heard of Jeff Allen, which is another list. He did a TV show that was called Chasing Cars. It was on TV A few years ago, and it ran like three or four episodes. You got to look him up. But when I was at Roush, he was doing a special Sema project and it was with a 63 Falcon. It's known as Ronin. And if you Google that you guys can see the pictures and everything what we did on that car and it was a 63 Falcon that he wanted to soup up and we put the 400 in it will put the Roush supercharger in it and the really cool thing is he notched the hood to where you could actually only see the Roush superchargers sticking out of the hood, that's all you see. So that was really Really cool and it won all kinds of awards at SEMA and it was one of the really crazy cool build but in like basically a first gen. Ford, you know from that from that area from 1963. So in that era of the first generation Mustang so that it just goes hand in hand with what we can do to customize it to whatever the customer wants.Doug Sandler 11:20It's amazing. I'm looking at some of the engines directly online right now and Ford Mustang community. I'll make sure I put a link in the show notes to to Roush engines, but it's Roushperformance.com/engine and literally it is a laundry list of every kind of engine that will that will get your eyes twirlin' here. It's everything from the 331SRX all the way up to the 5.0 Coyotes, amazing stuff in there. Wow this you know, this is the kind of stuff where I get in front of my computer and all of the stuff I have on my to do list for the day just kind of evaporates, sitting in front of the computer. Just looking at all the cool stuff on it and Again, these are these are crate engines. So these are these are brand new engines and amazing, amazing Look, I'm sure they make it. So what happens if you put something like this into into a classic Mustang? And again, I'm not expecting you know all the mechanical details of it and all as I certainly don't myself, but what happens if you put something like this into a car and the rest of the car isn't compatible meaning you don't have a transmission that can that can hold the torque that this thing is going to create or you don't have, you know the the right suspension to kind of handle this properly. What do you need to match everything up? I would assume, don't you?Mike Rey 12:33Yes, absolutely. Jim and his team will tell you like what's going to be needed to hold this car down to the ground. And then also there's other partners to like we have Gateway Classic Mustang, who another one I can get you there there but they specify and specifically in suspension and performance. So if you're doing any kind of racing, whether it be drag racing, whether it be road course racing, whether what it would be they are the pros that suspension for all Mustangs from first generation two currents, and the majority they would they do it first gen Mustangs, so they're out of the Missouri area and they just do great, great things that would complement a Roush engine going into a vehicle.Doug Sandler 13:12It's a it's amazing as again, as I'm looking at this, the technical specs of this stuff, the tech specs, it's 425 horsepower, Ford steel crankshaft it's Coyote engine 302. 425 horsepower, 475 foot pounds of torque. It's like, Oh my gosh, I like I said I could get lost in this in this forever. And I'm not a mechanical guy. But just the look and the feel of these. I mean, I could just imagine opening up my, my 65 convertible downstairs in the garage and just open it up and just seeing this brand new 5.0 in there. That would be crazy, ultra expensive. Crazy. Amazing.Mike Rey 13:48Well, then that also allows you to if you got, you know, like I said, you said you had talked to Tom Scarpello before and that's basically the old car outside, new stuff inside. So that would allow you to go from Michigan to California on a road trip.Doug Sandler 13:59Exactly. Yeah. That was Tom was a great guest from from Revology. I don't remember the exact episode number. I'll look it up. And I'll make sure I put that in the show notes as well. But yeah, really fun. So what else can you tell me about Roush because their products look really cool.Mike Rey 14:15So Roush is a lot. You know, they're known for engineering and every other thing they've been around for over 40 years, and been building cars since 1995. And now the big thing is, is that 150s with them, so it's at least when I left there, it was like 75% of sales were F150s. So three to one over Mustang, actually. So that's where the world's going is to the pickup truck era. And F150 was definitely the king for that. But yeah, I got the chance to work with Jack Roush Jr, who was absolutely amazing fun to work with. Get that super down to earth guy. A hell of a racer on the road course. I've been in the car with him on road course and just watched him lap people and we were in one of his Focuses. So and we're laughing must things with 800, 900 horsepower. That's how good Jack is. So I think you'd be a really really cool guest to be on but Roush offers basically anything you want whether it's a parts play, whether it's a whole vehicle, whether it's taking a vehicle and upgrading it afterwards. If you're doing a truck if you want to go off road, they offer the off road accessories for that the off road suspension. Everybody wants to Roush to exhaust on their vehicle whether it be Mustang or truck so yeah, definitely definitely the way to go and they have a lot of dealerships all around the country to more so than anyone else in the in the aftermarket industry.Doug Sandler 15:34Geez, thanks for all the information and for Mustang community if you're not in the market right now for a crate engine, but you do want a good tumbler they do have a really nice cup on their website and Roushgear.com also they have great shirts and hats, and even if you can't play the part by having a crate engine dropped into your dropped into your classic ride. You certainly can play the part by wearing the the very nice t shirt as well.Doug Sandler 16:00Yeah, I agree. I agree. So let's move over to to membership a little bit. Tell me a little bit about what's going on in the in the club scene we didn't really have a lot of time to talk last time, specifically about about MOCSEM, but I really do want to find out, you know a little bit more about the whole membership idea. There's probably a ton of people in our community that that aren't part of any Mustang clubs and, you know, maybe share some of the advantages and some of the stories that you have going on with your regional club.Mike Rey 16:24Let me share a few of my favorite things really quickly as there's been four huge events. That, to me stand out more than any. I've done hundreds of hundreds with the club over the last 15 years. But one was when I was presented with the Lee Iacocca award at the Mustang Memory Show. And one of my best friends John Clor, you know, was the one who surprised me and presented it to me at the show. So there's only about 100 people in the world that have that award. It doesn't exist anymore. To the Mustang community that's basically the Mustang Hall of Fame, if you will. So very, very honored to have That and I was surprised at the muscle memory show and John was the one actually presented to me, which ironically, takes me to the second event. It was our 50th Heroes banquet so celebrating 50 years of Mustang in 2014. We did a heroes banquet here the weekend of our show, and I in return got to present John me and Dave Pericak presented John with his Lee Iacocca was at that event, but that event is still titled and labeled as the greatest 50th anniversary Mustang events in the world that ever happened. And that was here in Dearborn, Michigan, during 2014, and it was our club who hosted that and ran it we have 60 different heroes from Gale Halderman and Hal Sperlich and Edsel Ford to the current team, which was the Pericak team. We had everybody throughout those 50 years. We had about 60 different people know from clay modelers to engineers to marketing team to Vice President. Everybody was there and We we set them up in a horseshoe shaped design out in the lobby after the banquet and let them sign autographs for everybody and created a keepsake for everybody to take. And they went around and they were there to almost two in the morning, starting at 8pm signing autographs, that's how long and everybody wanted to be with them and taking pictures and hearing stories. And it was just an unforgettable event and probably our most proud event we've ever put on as a Car Club. So those are things that cool that you get to come and see as a as a member that you get to enjoy. Another one was another no other Car Club can say this is we did a our general meeting inside the Ford World Headquarters. I touched on this very briefly at the last interview, but at the Ford world headquarters auditorium where we had Henry Ford, our Edsel Ford, we had Mark Fields, we had Dave Pericak, we had the list goes on and on and on. We had everybody you could possibly think of at the time that was available. So that was really, really cool. And so yeah, really, really great. And then the last event that I want to mention that we've done that was really cool was literally just last week. Last Tuesday, and I mentioned this before, we had Dave Pericak as our special guest speaker at our general meeting, which was held at Gateway Classic Cars in Dearborn. And he surprised everybody and brought out a Mach-E in person, for everybody just sit in feel touch and ask questions about and explain the reason and the process, why the Mustang name was attached, why, you know, and so many opportunities are against that. You get to explain the reason behind that. And I think it opened up a lot of people's minds about seeing a change everybody's mind because still, a lot of people, including myself, don't think the Mustang name should have been attached to that kind of vehicle. But I do understand the reasoning. I've accepted it and I'm okay with it. And he basically agreed with that. David great analogy stating, you know, if you go to your favorite amusement park like Cedar Point or something when you're a kid and they bring in a new ride, you know, do you absolutely hate it and want to go to war over it or you just don't ride it? You don't I mean, it's just an addition to the fun, it's not replacing anything. So it's not like you came into the amusement park and replace your favorite ride. It's not replacing Mustang, it's just an addition to and given another outlet. And you got to understand if they don't build the electric vehicles, they can't build their other Mustang. So the marquee is enabling them to keep building the GT 500 is the GT 350s, the Mustang GT, without these electric vehicles are not going to be able to do that anymore by federal mandate. So this is a part of it, and why not make a fun little section of it, and giving this Mustang performers that was going to do and this horsepower and torque in that thing is insane.Doug Sandler 16:42And I think it would be great to have a conversation with I think, you know, Jimmy DensmoreMike Rey 20:55I just talked to him a couple times this weekend. Tell him what a great job he did on I'm his interview with you because I listened to that yesterday too. Yeah, I know. I've known Jimmy I met him through Gale Halderman. I think Jimmy came in a couple years ago and you know, was was doing the book on Gale And but yeah, cuz I know Gale, probably for the last seven or eight years now. And you know, and heard a lot of the stories. So a lot of the stories Jimmy was telling you were absolutely true and fun, because I've actually heard those from Gale's mouth himself as well. One of the things that Jimmy didn't get into was about those myths, the myths that he was talking about. The one myth is that Mustang was named after an airplane. And it was, it was named after the horse when we we've been visiting Gale for the last maybe 5,6,7 years. We go down to his museum in barn once a year with the club. And afterwards after everybody leaves me and John Clor usually sit with Gale for an hour or two and just hear stories from a man he tells us about the Lee Iacocca days and spurling and all that. And we asked him about the horse and the one of the first visits we went there. He said, yeah, it was absolutely named for horse not after a plane so everybody tells you that. Don't believe that because Did you ever see a plane in any rendition or any form met on a car on a badge or anything like that it was it was always animals. And it was definitely named after the horse. So that's the guy that was on the team that will know it. And it came from the horse's mouth, as we call it.Doug Sandler 22:11And pardon the pun, no pun intended, but there was a fun. So tell me a little bit more about just how how, you know, you have a lot of these regional clubs and a lot of the regional clubs don't quite have the pull that a club that would be in Southeast Michigan has. So what do you say to those that are either running or in clubs? I mean, what's some of the what's some of the formula for success when it comes to running a successful club?Mike Rey 22:34That's a perfect segue of exactly where I want to talk about next is in coming February 9 this year, we have a summit that we put together started about 10 years ago. For all other clubs that are welcome and any club business listening here would like to join us. Please send me a note in the next week. And, Doug, if you could share my email with them. That'd be great. February 9th, we invite all different club heads in the Ford and Mustang world to this summit to share best practices. things they may need help with things to cross promote for each other for events, get to know each other and see how we can help support each other's events and answer questions or give them different avenues of where they might, you know, like to feel comfortable with or to learn things from. And yes, we people say, you know, we're spoiled. Oh, you guys got it made because you're in Dearborn and I mentioned this before. No, we have to actually go out and do what we need to do to actually make things happen. But like, a couple years ago at our show, you just seen the the bullet that just sold at Mecum? Correct. So Sean's car. Sean's a good friend Sean is a Club member of ours. Sean brought the Bullit out. We had Craig Jackson bring the little red before it was restored and that was just unveiled last weekend. Little Red was there. The Bullit was there. The 10 million Mustang was there. Larry Shinoda, his prototype boss real to car and we have all those guys there. We had Henry Ford, the dueces car. They're all at our shows over different years and to have those kind of special cars is just absolutely insane to me. And like you said, they're all first generation cars. And you can't see those at any other show. After our show last year when we had most of those, John Clor got just bombarded by other clubs asking, how do we get all those cars at our show? is simple answer was you don't. Everything has to basically fall in line, and a lot of hard work behind it to get things lined up. And we are very fortunate to have Woodward now, the same weekend as our show. So a lot of muscle cars coming for Woodword, and we try to talk to those people to try to extend it another day. Now people say well, that's why you get 1000 plus cars at your show. That Woodword weekend only started in 2014. So from 1975 to 2014. We were not the same weekend as Woodward we were always the weekend before. And two of those shows before that weekend started. We hit over 1000 cars so and now you're out. Are you out in California? Correct? So you're very familiar with the Knott's Berry show that has been going on for many years.Knott's Berry has always been the number one one day largest Ford show in the country. Well Knott's is taking a breather now and trying to get you know some new things basically reinvented if you will, and they're going to they're going to come back shortly but I know they're going to be taking a year or two off. So currently right now we are the largest one day all Ford event in the entire country. And that's how it the Ford world headquarters every AugustDoug Sandler 25:26That's incredible. Yeah, I think that a lot of people are going to say hey, because of your location where you are in the country. It makes it quite easy, not easy, but it makes it a lot easier for you and I would say that hey there's a lot of there's a lot of excuses people could have for not building their club the right way or maybe finding the right mix of guests to come in. But I'll tell you there's a lot to be said about tenacity and and just kind of staying in the game and and promoting your club to those that are important. I have another show called The Nice Guys on Business podcast and we're about 1000 and some episodes in Which game afforded me the opportunity to put that kind of say, okay, that's running over its own steam to start this show and look until you start reaching out to guests that are in favor and guests that you really want to hear. You can't be shy about it, you got to sink your teeth in and make it makes it happen.Mike Rey 26:17You know, passion is a huge thing, you really can't teach it, you got to be born with it. But anybody who usually steps into the club lead and not i'm not saying everybody because there's definitely exceptions. But usually, if you're stepping up to that role, you got to have some passion behind you to want to do that. And the passion will take you a long way I can, I can definitely vouch for that. And so being a club leader, if I can speak as a leader to other club leaders is see where you can give the most benefits to your members. So one called might be very interested in racing, so try to put the best racing events together. And another one might be well we might like to be in a big car. So let's do that. Some people like to do road trips or overnight so you know focus on that where you can you know, cater to what their their wants are as many preserve your club. And that will go a long way. And then they're there, their word of mouth will actually, you know, expand your club, gain more interest and make things, you know, a little bit more exciting within the club and to actually keep gaining traction and build the club as well.Doug Sandler 27:12What are some definite don'ts? Some things that you have tried that you said, Oh, well, that didn't work. We kind of fell flat on their face to face with that one. Is there anything that's happened in your club?Mike Rey 27:21Yeah, well, you know, there's, here's, here's the thing right now, and not nothing we've done, but I've watched other clubs do it and these other clubs that, you know, I'm talking and I won't name names right now, but there's a couple clubs Now regarding this Mach-E. And I love both of them. I get along with both of them, but one of them has they've taken stances and one fully embracing it Once fully not and like you're not allowed in the club anymore. If you have a Mach-E. So the market is not welcomed in their club. And the other one is absolutely and they're getting. So for the people that are welcoming it are they're getting from the people who hate it against it, and then the people who are banning it the people who like it are against it. So one thing that I'm just trying to do what I've been putting out there is our club is not like that I am I, I don't want to, I don't hope it a word it wrong. But I don't want to be a dictatorship into a club, we're not going to force you to like something, we're not going to force you to hate something, everybody has their own opinion. And we're going to support it either way. But, you know, our club doesn't want to take a stance and to do that, it's just like politics anywhere else you go, you know, I mean, you're not going to say, this club is all republican or this club is all democratic, you know, you don't want to do anything like that. It just opens up so many different cans of worms. So for me, personally, is what can I do in the best interest of the club always and to make the members happy and to make them feel good, whether they agree with something or not, you know, I mean, so. Like I said, I've mentioned it many times, I don't think the Mustang name should be attached to Mach-E because it's been the hottest topic. And our club is actually one of the few clubs that actually has a small advantage. I think I told you this before too. It's like 60% in favor of the car 40% against, so most clubs are 80% against and 20% for it. You don't I mean, so But like I said, it's just that it's a topic now that's going on, but You know, it's created a lot of conversation within club heads, which is really, really good. But like I said, To each his own, anybody can do something like that. But no, I mean, it has nothing personal against me. I'm not going to let a name of a vehicle, ruin lifelong friendships over something like that.Doug Sandler 29:16I think that's, I think that's where it is very well. And again, we all have to get along here. No haters is a part of this. If people have differing opinions, that's okay. And just let them voice their opinion. I won't mention the club the the place that I was, but I was at this and somebody got up and he just started like preaching to the people that are there and not about this particular car, but about a subject that that we have, we've got to take a stance and I kept thinking, we don't have to take a stance. This is my first meeting here and you're really not even making me feel welcome. It wasn't about me, right? But I just felt so uncomfortable. Just the fact that he was taking everything so personally at this club meeting, everybody, we just got to relax a little bit, just chill out.Mike Rey 29:57And you know, Doug, I would really really, really hope you can Try to put it into your schedule to make it down to Mustang Memories this year because I think you could go live there with so many first generation owners to share about their experience to share their camaraderie with their their friends who are parked next to them and all that I just think you're you know, you see so much eye candy for miles I it would be fun and you get to meet so many great people from just being at the event.Doug Sandler 30:22I completely agree with the end. I'm trying to look up the date for that right now.Mike Rey 30:26August 16th, and it's at the Ford world headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan.Doug Sandler 30:29See if I can get my press pass all lined up for that.Mike Rey 30:32I got you covered on that. And then here's what the theme is that we're doing this year for that is 65 years of Thunderbird, 60 years of the Ford Falcon and 30 years of the Seven-Up Mustang which not too many people are aware of or are doing anything special for so we're celebrating 30 years of the Seven Up Fox Body Mustang at our event this year.Doug Sandler 30:51Wow. That's very cool. I enjoy the sound of the seven up Mustang. I wonder why I haven't heard of that.Mike Rey 30:57It's a 1990 Mustang was a special edition that they were going to do for NCAA March Madness back in 1990. And the the promo fell through somehow, but the cars were already made. So they were at the dealers there a dark green car with white interior, you know, seven up colors basically, if you will. And, and there was, you know, only a certain amount made, and they were only made for that one year. And like I said it was very, very limited. So they're called the Seven Up Mustang and very, very cool. And they have their own groups and their own clubs, but to do a national event for them. This is the first one that I know of right now that we're celebrating 30 years this coming year for themDoug Sandler 31:33Nice. Love it. And I'm looking at pictures of that right now online as well. It's a very cool looking car Fox Body 5.0 Are they all convertibles? Did you say Are they all convertible?Mike Rey 31:41All convertibles. And you know, Doug, I don't know if you were gonna get to this or ask this. But I was listening to Jimmy's interview yesterday, and you asked about if you could be at a table with five people.Doug Sandler 31:51Hey, that was my next question. You can you can take me there though. Let's do so let me let's set up the question properly. So I give I'm gonna get Mike the ability to choose five guests alive or dead to have a dinner or a conversation with a talking Ford Mustangs? Who would he pick? And I'm I'm really curious because you've named so many of those people that were on not only Jimmy's list but on many of our guests list that have come on so you're already friends with many of them. You might not have to pick them who would you pick?Mike Rey 32:18Well, the funny thing is, is I really truly have seven and six of them I know personally, I'd have met one was passed away and I never got to me and that my biggest regret in the industry but so for my list is Gale Halderman, Hal Sperlich, John Clor, Dave Pericak, Amy Boylan, Carroll Shelby, and Jack Roush.Doug Sandler 32:35You know we got a really crowded table. Should we go? Should we go buffet style for this? Are we still in French service?Mike Rey 32:41Well, let me let me tell you the reasoning behind each of them. So all right, John, to me is the most well known in my opinion, Mustang expert there is in the entire world. That's my opinion may not be in fact or other people may not agree but in my opinion, he is the most knowledgeable man on the Ford Mustang there is In the world. Dave Pericak has the biggest and baddest things that are coming out now been, like I said, had the greatest launches with Ford on the current day. Hal Sperlich and Gale Halderman had the greatest launches of the original Mustang, the first gen and the greatest way. And so they can actually share a lot of that. Amy Boylan, to me is the most successful woman in Mustang history. And she could share her female input of if you will, and and how to make businesses work and how to make things special and exciting. Carroll Shelby, obviously the absolute legend, he's the one I never did get a chance to meet and my biggest regret in life is I had one chance to meet them and I couldn't make it to the event. And I never got to meet Carroll. And then I also had the honor of working with Jack Roush and Steve Saleen. But Jack Roush is just so amazing and his ideas. Jack is quiet. Just so super quiet, but very observant, observant and some as a tack. So he's listening. He's taking everything in and when Jack needs to talk, he goes again. what he's talking about and his ideas always usually turned into gold and still to this day the number one winning NASCAR owner in historyDoug Sandler 34:08That is great and what a great list and we'll give you the will give you the latitude to have an extra couple people at the table I'm thinking that if you send out the invitations maybe not all of them would be available but I'm hoping that they would all be available at the same time how what a cool dinner that would beMike Rey 34:40I'm sure I can get John to have Ford pick up that expense if we can hit up we can get those guys together.Doug Sandler 34:44Yeah, hey, listen if it if it could be my personal mission to put all seven of well, I can't put Carroll in the room. Well, I don't know if I can. I know some people that know you. I mean, you know all these people, you'd be able to invite them so maybe I'm going to use you as my liaison. To him I think we could. How cool would it be if we were able to actually put this together?Mike Rey 35:04Oh, absolutely. You know what, and I me and John can absolutely kind of try to work on this. Now Hal Sperlich is very tough but I've got to meet Hale on four or five different occasions. the saddest time was actually at the Lee Iacocca funeral, this is not a thing. So, we were contacted by Ford to provide first generation Mustangs for the Lee Iacocca funeral to be on display our club one so and when I walked in the door the first two people I see were Hal Sperlich and Gale Halderman so I got to talk to both of them and great length there as well. But yeah, those guys are great another guy who never comes out of hiding as John Colletti but he would be a special guest for your show as well and I think we can try to reach out to him and see if he doesn't he doesn't like coming out in person. But you might do a phone call.Doug Sandler 35:44I heard the same thing about about how because when I when I was talking to to Jimmy who wrote the book with Gale's cousin he was saying that, that how was it is a tough guy to get it to get ahold of now Dale, Gail is is is a little bit a little bit easier but but not quite the same with with Hal so we'd have a challenge with him but I'm up for the challenge.Mike Rey 36:16I am as well and I'm trying to actually get them to come speak at a meeting this year. So me and John are already gonna be talking to him. So let me see what we can do. If we can get him on the call. That would be an epic podcast if I could ever haveDoug Sandler 36:26I'll tell you Mike I not only do I enjoy having you as a guest but I just enjoy your positive attitude and the world needs more positivity like like you're spreading So thank you again for sharing not only just a great message but sharing you know your your fun stories on the on the show as well. Thanks for being here. One more time.Mike Rey 36:42Yeah, thank you so much for having me. It's literally been an honor and I'm gonna just keep getting you some names and some contacts and we want to blow this thing up for you.Doug Sandler 36:50Hey, man, I would appreciate that so very much. You know, I'm here to my day gig might be going away. So I have no problem doing this full time. No problem at all. Give a plug one more time for, for that special collector's thing that you're working on the collector's thing, sorry, the Ford Treasured Collectibles. You gotta shorten that title, man, that's do long.Mike Rey 37:11Here's the funny thing right now. So on board, we submitted the book for final approval before we went to print and Ford has requested a few edits. And we're adding a new chapter in that they wanted more stuff in there. So we're going to be adding that. And so if anybody is listening, that actually already ordered one, an email will be going out in probably the next three to four weeks. People that have already ordered the shipment is going to start early summer. But if you haven't ordered one yet, you still can, you can contact me directly on the link that Doug is providing. And we can still get you included into the book and have your picture included for everyone to see for the rest of history. And we can actually still get you in and still get you into the discounted price. So everything happens for a reason they say and so with the edits and bought us some more time so it's actually cool because we get to market them for the next three four months though.Doug Sandler 37:57Yeah, we'll make sure we put a link again in the show notes for you. TreasuredCollectibles.us but the site right now is not accepting orders so just send an email directly to Mike I'll put his email directly in the in the show notes as as well thank you again, Mike for being on the show and sharing all of your amazing stories and your message with us today.Mike Rey 38:17Thank you so much for having me. I appreciate it. And we'll talk again soonDoug Sandler 38:20Ford Mustang community if you have an idea for the show or you think you'd make a great guest send an email directly to me Doug@turnkeypodcast.com, we'll put a link in the show notes for that as well. Thanks for listening. Keep it safe, keep it rolling and keep it on the road. Until next time.Transcribed by https://otter.ai

During the process, many fascinating experimental cars, such as the Mustang I two-seater, Mustang II prototype, Mustang Allegro, and Shorty, were built. The Mustang received public accolades and critical acclaim, and soon it became a runaway hit. Ford designers and Gale Halderman designed and developed the first fastback Mustangs to compliment the coupes. The classic Mustang muscle cars to follow, including the GT, Mach 1, and others, are profiled as well. With stinging losses from the Edsel fresh in minds at Ford, the Mustang project was an uphill battle from day one. Lee Iacocca and his assembled team had a herculean task to convince Henry Ford II to take a risk on a new concept of automobile, but with the help of Hal Sperlich's detailed market research, the project received the green light. Henry Ford II made it clear that jobs were on the line, including Iacocca's, if it failed.Without question, the 1964 1/2 Mustang is one of the most important and influential cars in automotive history. When Ford launched the Mustang, it created an automotive revolution. The Mustang changed automotive history and ushered in the pony car era as a nimble, powerful, and elegantly styled sports coupe. But it could so easily have stumbled and wound up on the scrap pile of failed new projects. This is the remarkable and dramatic story of how the Mustang came to life, the demanding design and development process, and, ultimately, the triumph of the iconic American car.Links to Share:Mustang by Design:https://www.amazon.com/Mustang-Design-Halderman-Creation-Iconic/dp/1613254075/ref=sr_1_1?qid=1579023450&refinements=p_27%3AJimmy+Dinsmore&s=books&sr=1-1&text=Jimmy+DinsmoreFord Trucks: A Unique Look at the Technical History of America's Most Popular Truck (Pre-order)https://www.amazon.com/Ford-Trucks-Technical-History-Americas/dp/1613255128/ref=sr_1_3?crid=29DJ2P2A7S3VW&keywords=ford+trucks+book&qid=1579023487&sprefix=Ford+Trucks%2Caps%2C164&sr=8-3Twitter and Instagram: @driversside Facebook: facebook.com/MustangByDesign Jimmy Dinsmore - " I am not a Mustang owner, but have been graciously embraced by the wonderful community through my friendship with the legendary Gale Halderman. The classic Mustang muscle cars to follow, including the GT, Mach 1, and others, are profiled as well. With stinging losses from the Edsel fresh in minds at Ford, the Mustang project was an uphill battle from day one. Lee Iacocca and his assembled team had a herculean task to convince Henry Ford II to take a risk on a new concept of automobile, but with the help of Hal Sperlich’s detailed market research, the project received the green light. Henry Ford II made it clear that jobs were on the line, including Iacocca’s, if it failed.Without question, the 1964 1/2 Mustang is one of the most important and influential cars in automotive history. Is there wi-fi? Well... is there? It's a great question. And it might even be a line from a little known Samuel Beckett play. Regular listeners of the Betterbreeders podcast, however, will recognise that question as the natural successor to the oft-heard, plaintive cry from our own youth, when on the family holiday we would repeatedly beg our parents, from the seatbeltless snot green vinyl bench seat of the Ford Falcon,"Dad, are we there yet?" In episode #108, Benlife and Theblackdouglas invoke the muse and wax lyrical upon the phenomenon of the holiday in the 2010s, upon the occasion of Benlife's post Hawaiian family vacation and subsequent re-embarkation onto Terra Nullius. It's a veritable odyssey of rad ideas and fond recollections through rose-coloured glasses. Are we there yet? Listen to #108 to find out.

Station wagons have been through a considerable number of image changes. It took on a pucker style when it was given the name “shooting brake” in an association with aristocrats driving around the estate blasting away at defenceless animals. The closest it ever got to a youth market was the early 50s and 60s when it was the suffers' mobile home But it has a number of incarnations that give it a dowdy image. For example, the family holiday vehicle – Chevy Chase in the Vacation series which is part of a 7 film National Lampoon's string of movies. The Griswold family is not something you wish to be associated with. Then there is the parents' school run vehicle. And the traveling salespersons office on wheels. With such images, it is not surprising they have ebbed and flowed with sales numbers, some falling by the way. The Camry station wagon is gone but not lamented As is the large, slab sided Ford Falcon which went well before the demise of the sedan. It provided huge room but was surpassed by the trendier SUV. Even the Hyundai i30 wagon dropped off the market. Our roving correspondent Matthew Brown who is in his thirties needed a new car but didn't think he was quite old enough for a station wagon. More recently there has been a bit of a rival with the marketing expression “Sports Wagon” which infers that you are an adventurer rather than a parent caught in raising the children. Now Holden is talking about the next step in the evolution. The new model will not be called a wagon but a tourer. Where does it all fit in. Holden's Director – Design, is Richard Ferlazzowhom we have spoken to in the past. He joins us on the line now. Originally aired on 29 April 2017.
