Pete Hegseth sparks international backlash with comments critics say encourage further military escalation, while GOP rhetoric grows even more toxic—thanks to incendiary remarks from Rep. Randy Fine and Donald's demeaning comments about Somalis that are drawing global condemnation.Meanwhile, Democrats aren't exactly unified: Hillary Clinton's forceful pro-Israel stance deepens foreign-policy divides, and Hakeem Jeffries shocks his own party by siding with Donald on a controversial pardon. Add in a Supreme Court greenlight for Texas's extreme redistricting map, and the fractures across both parties are impossible to ignore. If you're tracking the collision of politics, power, and accountability, this episode is essential viewing. The Manhattan Institute, a conservative think tank, released a new survey this week in an attempt to figure out who, exactly, is a Republican these days. The takeaways? Newer Republican voters are more conspiratorial, more likely to be racist and antisemitic, and more likely to support the use of political violence. And they are pulling the GOP in their direction. This trend worries South Carolina Democratic Representative Jim Clyburn, who has written a new book, “The First Eight,” about the eight Black South Carolina Congressmen who preceded him in office. All of them were Republicans at a very different time for the party. Representative Clyburn became the ninth Black Congressman from the state when he was elected in 1992 – nearly a century after the last of the First Eight served in office. We spoke with Representative Clyburn about why it felt so urgent to write this book now.And in headlines, the Supreme Court allows Texas to use its gerrymandered Congressional map in the midterms, President Donald Trump holds a photo op to misleadingly tout peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and new data reveals the dramatic scale of our affordability crisis.Show Notes:Check out The First Eight – https://tinyurl.com/yc78s4yyCall Congress – 202-224-3121Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/3kk4nyz8What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcastFollow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. And speaking of Qatar, we're joined by Krista Schild, Texas director of the RAIR Foundation, for a riveting and frightening presentation on how deeply the Muslim Brotherhood has penetrated Texas (and other red states). From autonomous Sharia compounds and land-grabs to taxpayer-funded radical schools, criminal activity, law, and even GOP politics, Islam has infinitely more influence in red states than you realize. While President Trump and Governor Abbott (R) have issued terror designations against the Muslim Brotherhood, Krista warns that absent enforcement that leads to shutting down CAIR and banning terror finance of Islamic infrastructure, it's tantamount to nothing more than a press release.  Learn more about your ad choices. Welcome to The Georgia Politics Podcast! This week, we dive into three seismic political shakeups reshaping Georgia and the national landscape. First, we unpack Marjorie Taylor Greene's stunning announcement that she'll resign from Congress on January 5, 2026. We explore what her departure means for GOP power dynamics, who might emerge to fill the vacancy, and how her public break with Donald Trump could reverberate through the MAGA movement — as well as what she might be positioning herself for next. Then, we break down the December 2 municipal election results: Mary Robichaux unseats Roswell Mayor Kurt Wilson in a closely watched runoff, while in Sandy Springs, Rusty Paul coasts to a fourth term. We look at what these outcomes signal for suburban political trends across the region, including that unexpected Tennessee special angle. Finally, we examine the dismissal of the Fulton County racketeering case against Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants. With special prosecutor Pete Skandalakis concluding the evidence couldn't support a RICO conviction — and suggesting federal authorities may be better suited to pursue any remaining issues — Georgia's last active 2020-election case comes to an abrupt end. We dig into what this means for accountability, taxpayer exposure under Georgia's new legal-fee law, whether the case could ever be revived, and how this decision may influence public trust in election and judicial systems nationwide. In this case, the Jupiter-ruled Sun's shadow often includes the tendency toward hubris, or arrogance. And, since Jupiter often represents the “king,” “ruler,” or “leader,” while the Moon often rules “the people,” it's easy to put this into a current context in the U.S. as its president tries to gerrymander his way to hubristically maintain future control over those living here.Yesterday, as the Gemini Full Moon perfected at 13'04” Gemini at 3:14 p.m. PT & 6:14 p.m. ET on December 4, the Supreme Court announced its decision to let stand the Texas state gerrymander that would give its GOP five more U.S. House Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. What's interesting about this particular Gemini Full Moon is that its squares the transiting mean nodal axis's Virgo South Node & Pisces North Node—which urges us to move way from trying to control everyone & everything & to let go & let it flow. The tension of this Gemini Full Moon thus creates a mutable grand cross, denoting a shift in the karmic axis as the heart (Moon) & the mind (Sun) cry out for integration. This combines with Mars in Sagittarius's approaching square to Saturn in Pisces, which perfects December 8, & portends a period of irritability & frustration, & cautions us to work concentratedly & carefully rather than succumbing to despair. While grand water trine formed between Mercury in Scorpio, Jupiter in Cancer, & Saturn & Neptune in Pisces at this Gemini Full Moon is touted as a way to get more deeply in touch with our feelings, it can also blind us to the emotional plight of others. That's because a grand water trine is subjective rather than objective. And as such, it can cause us to feel sorrier for ourselves than for others. However, awareness of this tendency now can save us from becoming emotionally immune to suffering of others.I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW AS NEPTUNE STATIONS DIRECT IN PISCESThe latter is potentially more true than the former, given that Neptune--the planet of illusion, confusion, & delusion—which entered Aries on March 30 of this year, then stationed retrograde at 2'10” Aries on July 7, then moved back into 29-degrees of PI on October 22--is about to station direct @ 29'22” Pisces on December 10.It's during this retrograde period that “the powerful empathy between oneself & those who are helpless is a mirror of one's own inner helplessness,” explains Jungian astrologer Erin Sullivan in her book “Retrograde Planets, Traversing the Inner Landscape.”In other words “one really hopes in the process of helping others to help oneself,” Sullivan explains. To me, there is a strong element of “there, but for the grace of god, go I,” as well as the oft quoted proverb to “walk a mile in someone else's shoes before judging them” in Sullivan's explanation of the Neptune retrograde period. And, when we take into consideration the time span of NE's Rx period-- which was accompanied fairly closely with SA's station Rx on July 13 @ 1'56” Aries & his subsequent station direct at 25'09” PI on November 27—during which the two remained in fairly close transit--we can see even more clearly now in retrospect the dissolution of boundaries between the ego & the unconscious--in each of us individually as well as within the greater collective. All we need do, at least here in America, is remember how this period led to the passage in the U.S. Congress of Trump's touted “big beautiful bill” signed into law on July 4. And how--in addition to adding to the continued future financial inequality of Americans (by virtue of huge tax cuts for the rich)--resulted also in the huge increase in funding for the Department of Homeland Security's Immigration & Customs Enforcement. Because during its retrograde Neptune backtracks over potentially sensitive degrees, we might note now that this is what happened since Neptune crossed the the U.S. Sibly July 4, 1776, natal chart's IC & 4th House cusp at 1'03” Aries twice so far. Once direct, Neptune will hit this degree again circa January 28, 2026.In psychological astrology, Neptune in or ruling the 4th House (meaning Pisces is on its cusp) denotes what Jungian astrologer Liz Greene calls a ”weak father.” Given that we're looking at the chart of the birth of America, as Monty Python would say “say no more…” if you catch my drift & recognize that a president is known as “the father his country.”Saturn will reenter Aries on February 13 & conjoin with Neptune exact @0'45” Aries on February 20 at 11:53 a.m. ET. Saturn then reenters the U.S. 4th House on February 23 & Neptune follows suit on February 28.When we synthesize these movements, we've got a lot of potential dissolution of foundations located at the very foundation of the U.S. Sibly chart—particularly related to the “father of the country.” Nuff said—for now…Be sure to tune in to learn more about all of this--including Mercury's opposition to Uranus December 10, the third quarter monthly lunar square of the Pisces Moon to the Sagittarius Sun & Mercury's entrance into Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius December 11!It all drops today December 5 at 11 a.m. PT & 2 p.m. ET @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speakingSee you then! The Pentagon says U.S. forces have carried out another strike on an alleged drug-trafficking boat in the Eastern Pacific, killing four suspected narco-terrorists. The announcement came as Congress reviewed a previous operation that killed two survivors from an earlier strike. Top Senate Republican Tom Cotton defended the operation, while Democrats called the classified footage troubling.Homeland Security says an ICE operation in Minneapolis has led to multiple arrests of what the agency calls “the worst of the worst” criminal illegal immigrants. The Metro Surge operation began Monday. Many of those arrested are Somali nationals, with cases ranging from gang affiliations to sexual-conduct convictions and felony smuggling. Other charges include aggravated assault and domestic violence. The mid-terms are looking more favorable to republicans in Texas after the Supreme Court approved the republicans new map. GOP candidates will now have a better opportunity to flip Democrat seats in 5 Texas districts. Though the five potential gains in Texas could be offset by 5 potential gains in California, after voters approved a new map last month that favors Democrats. Now, Florida is the latest in a string of states that are working to redrawing congressional lines.

A Bay Area animal rights activist in a high-profile trial involving the theft of chickens will have to serve time in jail. A judge has sentenced a 23-year-old Zoe Rosenberg to a hybrid sentence of 90 days in jail. She will serve 30 days in jail and become eligible for jail alternatives for the final 60 days. Rosenberg made national headlines for taking four chickens from Perdue Farm's Slaughterhouse in Petaluma in 2023. Today's Headlines: The House Oversight Committee dropped another batch of photos and videos from Jeffrey Epstein's island, but honestly, this is not a “paint me a picture” situation — Google is your friend. Meanwhile, Pete Hegseth's Signalgate drama is heating up: an inspector general report says he put troops at risk, and Rep. Shri Thanedar is already drafting impeachment articles over both that and the whole “blow up random boats” era. Trump surprised literally everyone — including GOP leadership — by pardoning Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar, who was awaiting trial for allegedly taking $600k in foreign bribes. And the administration announced a pause on immigration applications from 19 “high-risk” countries, with no timeline for resuming them, while a judge ruled that ICE actually does need warrants to arrest people in DC. Trump also claimed Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff had a “very good” meeting with Putin on a Ukraine peace plan (sure), as European leaders slammed Putin for wasting everyone's time. And in a peak bit of irony, the former U.S. Institute of Peace has now been renamed the Donald J. Democrats have signaled that they're running in the 2026 midterms on “affordability.” This week, Trump unleashed several angry, wild-eyed rants about their “affordability” message. In one, he raged that this message is a “con job.” In  another, he seethed that it's a “Democrat scam.” He's angry because these attacks are working, and because he knows it means the GOP's midterm woes are getting much worse. And right on cue, in this week's special election in Tennessee that Republicans won, the vote shifted 13 points to the left relative to 2024. That shocked Republicans into a panic: Representative Elise Stefanik openly fretted that Republicans are “underperforming.” Senator Ted Cruz urged Republicans to sound the “alarm.” And a senior GOP strategist called the result a “flashing red warning.” We talked to Amanda Litman, the president of Run for Something, which is recruiting candidates across the country. She digs into the special election results to explain why they're good news, details how Democrats can keep the momentum going through 2026, and reflects on what could still go wrong.
