Jodie Knight is a songwriter, vocalist and producer from Glasgow, Scotland now based in London. Her music draws influences from artists such as Chelsea Cutler, Ben Howard, and Holly Humberstone - very lyrically driven songs with strong, emotional melodies. In 2018 she opened for Rick Astley on 2 nights of his UK tour, and in 2022 she opened for the Scotland V Argentina game at Murrayfield Stadium (67,000). She has supported Texas in Quaglino's in London, played a sold out Sofar Sounds in The Ministry & performed at the infamous Ronnie Scott's Jazz Bar in 2023. In 2021 she graduated from Sir Paul McCartney's performing arts university LIPA, with a first class honours degree in songwriting & production and since then has used her skills to work with producers and writers from all over the world. “Jodie Knight is an expert at whether it's her own sad girl kind of pop, or whether she's supplying a vocal feature on a huge, huge dance banger. She has proven time and time again how versatile her voice is and I reckon in a couple of years time she's going to be one of BBC Introducing's major new success stories.” - Phoebe & Shereen, BBC Introducing Scotland.

Michael K. Stark is a returning artist after a 25-year absence from creating art. Born in Los Angeles, Michael's journey as an artist started while living in Vienna, Austria, and then stopped 11 years later in Orange County, CA. During his first active period, Michael's works were featured in 35 art exhibitions, 13 of which were solo shows. His longest exhibition lasted for 11 years at Lunaria Restaurant and Jazz Bar in West LA.Michael's second act, as an artist, began in late 2021 when he picked up a pen and sketched the $100 bill. That sketch gave birth to the “Wall of $100's” series. The Wall of $100's is comprised of over 250 unique works on canvas. Michael developed the Wall of $100's to be exhibited specifically in Las Vegas. He believes that no city in the world has as unique a relationship to money as Las Vegas. Las Vegas is a town where one can truly test the limits of money, and what can be done with it.Throughout his artistic career, the focus of Michael's artwork has been his obsession with money. What is missing in his second act, however, is his over-the-top framing style. While the whimsical framing may be sidelined for now, what remains is an artist boldly re-embracing his singularity and passion.Michael K. In Episode 12 of the Nonnative Creative podcast, we hear from James Catchpole (aka Mr. OK Jazz). James was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Seoul, South Korea for a few years with his family when he was 10 years old. Eventually, his interest in film and music motivated him to explore Japan. Through living in Japan, he found out about jazz cafes (jazz kissa), and decided to launch TokyoJazzSite.com, an English-language resource that shares details about jazz and listening bars all around Tokyo. James hosted a long-running radio show for a few years, and then shifted to podcast format (he shares music and discusses music history). Here's another top draw set from our Christmas party. This one was a little under prepared as Paul Griff had only gone up to the stage on time by a fluke while he searched for his drink. Richie had one track left but the 'ed 'oncho was set to go for a pre game dump. It wasn't to be, so he had to plat his legs for the duration of the set.... oh and his mrs came behind and nicked his drink mid set too. Nightmare!
Following Gillman Audio's opening set at our christmas party on 8th December; Jus Neil takes over to give us 75 minutes of pure fire! We couldn't have a party without our favourite Soul/RnB/Hip Hop DJ and Neil doesn't disappoint. And if you love this set, we suggest you check out his set from this years Vocal Booth Weekender here https://www.mixcloud.com/vocalboothweekender/jus-neil-vb2018/favorites/
Here's the first of our recorded sets from the Christmas party we held at RJJZ Jazz Bar in Birmingham on Saturday 8th December 2018. In the past week I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to catch up with Pat Duggan and record an interview. I’ve been into the The Doghouse Jazz Bar a few times before but never really spoke to Pat much, you don’t tend to get much time for things like that on a night out, […] The post Interview with Pat Duggan of The Doghouse Jazz Bar – Episode 91 appeared first on This is Rammy.

In this episode, I chat with Jess Abrams who is performing at the Jazz Bar with her show Cat Stevens: Reconstructed. We talk about reviews and the importance of the audience, as well as how to reinvent something that people love, and how careful a balance you need to hit in that instance.
This may be the limpest of all excuses I've ever had for naming a podcast. You know why it's called the Jeffcast? Because I kinda mention Jeffrey Lewis a couple of times. Oooh, yes, that makes sense. Still, sorry, I couldn't think of anything else really, off the top of my head. I suppose I am off to see Jeffrey Lewis directly after recording this, so I guess it sort of counts. He is playing a secret gig at Henry's Cellar Bar after sneaking out of the Beggars Banquet Christmas Party at the Picture House over the road. It's one of the things I love about the anti-folk crowd: you genuinely get the impression that they'd rather be playing to an appreciative crowd of their mates, rather than a bigger crowd of anonymous punters who may stand there and demand entertainment. So there you go, that's the deal for tonight. For the rest of the weekend we're putting together Meursault albums, ready for the official (re)launch of their record next Friday at the Song, by Toad Christmas Party. So, after folding and screen-printing a thousand of the bastards we'll all be well ready for Gimme Shelter in the Caves on Saturday and a spot of Candythief action in the Jazz Bar on Sunday.
