When 31-year-old Lindsey Lee didn't show up for work bright and early one Tuesday morning, her coworkers at the Lexington County Sheriff's Department were immediately worried. Their fears were confirmed when the deputy who performed a wellness check at Lindsey's home discovered her body. At first, investigators didn't have any suspects for Lindsey's murderer. Everyone liked her. Lindsey was so incredibly kind and friendly that she'd even maintained a good relationship with her soon-to-be ex-husband.

This week your hosts Steve Lowry and Yvonne Godfrey interview Nathan Werksman of Merson Law PLLC (https://mersonlaw.com/) and Jon Davidi at Panish|Shea|Boyle|Ravipudi LLP (https://www.psbr.law/) Remember to rate and review GTP in iTunes: Click Here To Rate and Review Episode Details: Trial lawyers Nathan Werksman of Merson Law PLLC and Jon Davidi at Panish|Shea|Boyle|Ravipudi LLP discuss how they secured justice for a woman who was viciously attacked by a dog as well as the challenges of conducting a jury trial held at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. On December 15, 2016, plaintiff Jennefer Jones took a walk around her neighborhood and attempted to pass neighbor Mathew Epstein, who was walking a 55-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback named Turkey on the sidewalk. Turkey lunged and attacked Jennefer, biting her right forearm, breaking the skin and dragging her to the ground, where she fell on her elbow. Jennefer was later diagnosed with two injuries: radial tunnel syndrome in her forearm and lateral epicondylitis in her elbow. Despite being put in a cast, injected with platelet-rich plasma and more than 80 physical therapy sessions, Jennefer continued to experience pain that greatly affected her ability to perform everyday tasks and to work as a golf instructor. The defense argued that Turkey didn't bite Jennefer but simply scratched her and asserted that any pain is from a pre-existing condition or an overuse injury related to her golf instruction career. Nathan Werksman and Jon Davidi called out the defense's tactic of referring to Jennefer's lateral epicondylitis by its more common name of "tennis elbow" to persuade the jury of the injury's true origin. In October 2020, an Orange County, California jury found in favor of Jennefer and awarded her $309,250 in damages. Many for-profits and nonprofits are making a lot of impact in the world without getting the attention that they deserve. Through personal experiences and opportunities in her current calling, Primary General Board member Sister Jennefer Free shares ways to take difficult or traumatic things and turn them into something that can bring joy.
Jennefer is the first in her Haitian family to be born in America. She shares her perspective surrounding the duality of the pride and resentment she experiences as a first-generation American. Pride, coming from the lessons of hard work, independence, and resilience, but resentment from being the first and having to navigate cultural norms and experiences on her own and for her family. Jennefer Pursifull is the VP of Marketing and Sales at Medxcel, where she believes in the importance of collaboration. At Medxcel, Marketing and HR join forces to increase overall engagement of both clients and employees. She knows when you have employees who are proud of the company, telling their stories is the best way to spread a company’s brand. In this episode, you’ll learn how she builds brand ambassadors by equipping people to tell their stories . Truth You Can Act On 1. Align Marketing and HR Supporting Quote Jennefer Pursifull: “We have a research side of our marketing group, and they really do the customer relationship survey. They oversee our service, transactional surveys on customer satisfaction, and then they do this piece of associate engagement research. And in the last year we have developed an associate index that we combined with our relationship and service, transactional service strategy to create a health index for our remote sites. Our associates do their job out in hospitals and healthcare locations, and so they're dispersed across the country. And one of the things that our HR team really struggled with was understanding the environment within each one of those sites. We now have this index, and we come together with HR, and we look at the index, how the site is doing. We look at the data within that site, and then HR really focuses on kind of the HR basics--the training and leadership development skills, understanding what needs to be supported from technical education and leadership education--and our team looks at what are those drivers of engagement and how do we support the connections between the leaders? And what's around the pieces that will make the greatest impact on how our associates build pride and build their confidence and their support of the organization?” 2. Do Research First Supporting Quote Jennefer Pursifull: “I think anytime you start something new, you really need to start with the data. And that's what we did. We started with the research on our customer side, then we added the research on understanding our associates engagement level, and then we use the analytics it takes to bring those two together. So start with the data. Once you have the data that will guide you, watch what your next steps are. Where do you need to focus to build your associate engagement levels? And that's just working on the assumption that the associates engagement level, as it goes up, move towards a brand ambassador position. And we have absolutely seen that result once that associate engagement level is high and your associates are just naturally telling the story of your organization and how they fit and work within this organization.” 3. Equip Employees to Be Brand Ambassadors Supporting Quote Jennefer Pursifull: “There are a lot of internal ways that we tell those stories, and as you tell them, you actually encourage people to share their stories. But then our brand team very much uses these stories externally, and we use them in social media. We use them in identifying sometimes a story that will turn into an actual case study in one of our accounts where we can focus on a successful service delivery partnership with a customer. We use it on our website, and we use it when we're out speaking and those opportunities really to share the stories that our associates have shared with us.” Book Recommendations Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker Sponsor The Zone – The Zone is the space where happiness and high performance coexist. Jennefer Payne is a homeopathic doctor, mother, and all around incredible human being. We've known each other for over 5 years now and I consider her one of my most significant friends. We have learned so much from each other through our life experiences that we have decided that at a time such as this we knew that our lessons were valuable for others to know as well. She has a wealth of wisdom about many things, but today we got into some commonly asked questions referring to the bible and spirituality as a whole. So as our way to fight the Spiritual Matrix we took the conversation into that realm. We hope you have an open mind to learn something new, or perhaps even enjoy the dialogue! We got into a variety of topics mostly pertaining to a true understanding of God, who Jesus was & his purpose, who we are in the world, God's divine order of things, our body's divine purpose, and how to nurture the body correctly. She will be a revisiting guest on the podcast to give us her view on the world, wealth, biblical teaching, and natural healing! If you'd like to connect with Jennefer you can add her on Facebook She mentioned getting the concordant bible which you can find here We also referred to the 90 essential nutrients which we offer in supplement form available here: 90 For Life
A boys trip to Napa...what could go wrong?! EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING CAN. These two are not to be trusted. Drunk, irresponsible and too many feelings. Somehow though, this flick earned a few Oscars, leaving Charla delighted and Jennefer utterly confused and concerned.
HORRIFIED. APPALLED. CONCERNED. SHOCKED. TERROR FILLED. These all describe the emotions Jennefer felt when Charla read her this weeks Mini Session. Come see what made Jenn tear up with fear and also grab some quick wedding planning advice while you're at it!
“Keep moving forward, one foot in front of the other.”You’ll learn this and many other pearls of wisdom in our episode with Jennefer Witter, CEO and Founder of The Boreland Group and one of the nation’s top 10 black CEOs and entrepreneurs, according to MadameNoire. Self-care is critical — something Jennefer learned the hard way — as is self-promotion. She also shares the many benefits of authoring a book and simple ways that even introverts can network effectively.
Charla nearly dies in this episode. Jennefer nearly dies too. Two completely separate causes, one event. It may involve a bed and lots of laughing. Oh...and apparently drunk maid of honors should NEVER do speeches. NOT EVER.

Today I have a longtime friend joining me on the show. I’ve known Jennefer Witter for at least 10 years. Jennefer is the CEO and founder of The Boreland Group, a national PR firm headquartered in New York City. It’s not often as journalist that you become friends with the publicist. The publicist who e-mail you, write to you, call you, grab you for five minutes at a conference to tell you about their company. I’m all for pitches. I love working with publicists for the most part. They are very helpful to me and instrumental in the work that I do. We wouldn’t have guests on this show if it wasn’t for the good work and the kind work of publicists who represent amazing people and amazing brands, but rarely do you actually befriend these people in your personal life where you actually go to dinners and you share personal stories. Jennefer and I really clicked way back when I was working at NY1. Initially, we started out as just business friends. We worked together, she sent me pitches, I had some of her guest on the show. So, long story short, we’ve been in touch for all of these years. Her business has exploded as well. She’s on the show today to share some of her lessons learned as well as her financial mindset and behaviors. How she has been able to build wealth while living here. Also, how, as a single female entrepreneur, she’s been able to build her business to the point where she was named one of the top 10 black CEO entrepreneurs in the country. She also has a book called, The Little Book of Big PR: 100 Plus Quick Tips to Grow Your Small Business. In addition to getting her clients on top national and regional platforms, she herself has been featured in Fast Company, Bloomberg, The Huffington Post and TheStreet.com. She’s also an advocate for women in business and serves as an active member of Elevate New York. For more information visit www.somoneypodcast.com.
