Today, we're diving into one of my favorite types of conversations- a community birth story. What makes this episode extra special is that it actually includes two birth stories. My guest reflects on both her first and second births, sharing how the challenges she faced during her initial pregnancy and postpartum experience shaped the decisions she made the second time around. To have this conversation with me today on Yoga|Birth|Babies I have Laura Moore. Laura is an Assistant Principal and former math teacher in the NYC department of Education. Even though she grew up in Texas, she feels more at home in NYC, having lived here for 14 years. She has been practicing yoga since 2018. She lives in Harlem with her husband Hal, 3.5 year old daughter Lucy and newborn son Hunter. In this episode, Laura opens up about the intentional changes she made going into her second birth- from choosing a different care provider to prioritizing her mental health and working through the trauma of her first pregnancy. Spoiler alert: Laura opted for an elective C-section the second time around. I especially appreciate how she shares this part of her journey, showing that cesarean birth can absolutely be an empowered, thoughtful choice- especially when you're supported by those around you and feel confident in your decision. Welcome to the daily304 – your window into Wonderful, Almost Heaven, West Virginia. Today is Sunday, Jan. 7 Get free seeds and compete in the WV Garden Challenge. From water trails to four-wheeling, outdoor recreation abounds in the Advantage Valley. And a historic property in Ansted has links to explorer William Clark…on today's daily304. #1 – From WBOY – Once again, the “Grow This: West Virginia Garden Challenge” is sending out free seeds to help West Virginians start their own garden, but this year's challenge has some added competition. According to the West Virginia University Extension Grow This organization, last year's challenge, which distributed seeds to 25,000 West Virginians, was “a practice round for 2024.” This year, they're giving out seeds for Jimmy Nardello peppers, red Russian kale and scarlet nantes carrots. Individuals, families and groups in West Virginia can sign up to get free seeds and to join a state-wide competition—county versus county. Growers can now join the challenge by filling out a survey, and once they get their seeds in April, they can earn points for their country by completing challenges. Read more: https://www.wboy.com/wv-outdoors/sign-up-for-free-seeds-through-2024-grow-this-wv-garden-challenge/ #2 – From LIVABILITY.COM – Outdoor recreation in West Virginia, specifically in the Advantage Valley between Charleston and Huntington, is easy to find – just follow the trail. Whether it's hiking, paddling, horseback riding or zooming around in an all-terrain vehicle, there is a well-maintained pathway to accommodate all manner of activities. Along the way, residents and visitors can soak in the magnificent mountain landscapes and meet plenty of other outdoor enthusiasts who are enjoying the same thing. “Our region is a growing outdoor recreation mecca for people to explore and discover,” says Bill Currey, chairman and founder of the Coal River Group, which oversees the 88-mile Coal River Water Trail. “We have everything that you would want in terms of both land and water trails.” Other recreational opportunities include the Hatfield McCoy Trails, an extensive network of off-roading trails in southern West Virginia. Just north of Charleston lies the Elk River Trail, which offers hiking and biking as well as paddling along the adjacent Elk River. Read more: https://livability.com/wv/charleston/experiences-adventures/advantage-valley-an-outdoor-lovers-paradise/ #3 – From WV EXPLORER – Historians investigating the history of a landmark tavern in southern West Virginia have uncovered evidence that explorer William Clark, of the Lewis & Clark Expedition, lodged there in the 1820s. Clark's presence at the former Tyree Tavern in Ansted was unknown until a diary entry was recently uncovered in the archives of the Lewis and Clark Trust. “It is really exciting to find an actual document—in William Clark's own hand!—that established his stop at the tavern in his 1817-1820 travel diary,” said Pamela Webster-Walsh who co-owns the property with her sister Laura Moore. Believed to have been established as a tavern in the very early 1800s, the hewn-timber structure is one of the oldest in the southern state. It was a stagecoach stop for travelers crossing the Appalachian Mountains, and during the Civil War, it served as a headquarters for both northern and southern armies. Webster-Walsh says she and Moore welcome all possible information on the history of the tavern. Correspondence through email should be directed to walshpw116@gmail.com. A Facebook page has also been established at Tyree Tavern - Past & Present. Today, I speak with IFBB Pro Laura Moore-Shay, a full time project manager in engineering. She is also a prep & lifestyle coach, homeowner, and pug mom. She also is the host of the podcast Bikini Things! She first competed in 2017 and turned Pro in 2020 at NPC USAs. Laura speaks in depth about her road to Pro and highs and lows. Being 6 feet tall, Laura has to be careful not looking too thin when she diets down for a show. She decided to start working with Kim Odo and take a long off season to put on more muscle. Laura tells us how she knew she wanted to be a Pro even before she started competing! She kept it to herself until she thought she thought the goal was in her reach. We hear about how Laura plans her improvement seasons and what that means in regards to “old school” bulking. Because of her height and natural body type, it's harder for her to keep on weight. She firmly believes you have to be happy with your body regardless of the stage you're in. She has learned to appreciate her offseason body as much as her prep body. In her work as a prep and lifestyle coach, she makes it a priority to foster healthy food relationships. She also believes in being honest with her clients. She does not like extreme cardio or extreme low calorie diets for her prep clients and would rather push a show date than be too extreme. She likes to shift clients immediately into a reverse diet post-show to allow for more flexibility and healthy maintenance of hormones. “If you can manage your time, you can do whatever you want.” This is such an informative conversation, you don't want to miss it! Laura Moore works with refugees in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, as a missionary with SEND International. She talks to us about what ministry to refugees looks like in Lancaster - helping refugee or recently immigrated families adjust to the ins and outs of life in their new home. Her concern for refugees is greatly informed by her own experiences as a foreigner living and working as a missionary in Ukraine over the course of 20 years. Ultimately, though, her love for refugees comes from God. She talks to us about God's character and how she has seen him faithfully comfort and provide for her in her times of need, and for the people she works with in their needs.

This week's Small Business Superstars are Laura Moore and Laura Davies, otherwise known as the two Lauras! A little bit about the Two Lauras' amazing business…Laura and Laura own The Hub for Social Media Managers – providing support for freelance social media managers to grow their business through a membership and online courses. What one marketing thing made a difference to their business? Email marketing! The Two Lauras made a commitment to email their list once a week in January 2020 and have stuck to it ever since. They send an idea, a tip or hack every Monday their list can implement into their business. Then they went a step further and started to email their list every single day (apart from weekends). What difference did it make to them and their business? People love their emails! They have had brilliant responses and people enjoy the valuable content they offer. When they then sell in an email, their list is very open to this. Since emailing every day, they have seen less unsubscribes, consistently higher open rates and more sales! How are you doing? Oh, it's not this week's episode. I keep saying that all the time. I keep saying this week's episode. It's the second episode of the week. It's the Thursday episode. You're probably thinking, is it a Monday again? No, we're on Thursday. It's nearly the weekend. Okay. So this week's episode, I have the very lovely Laura Moore and Laura Davis, otherwise known as the Lauras. Hello, ladies. And welcome. Lauras: Hello Teresa: Oh, that was very well synchronized. Thank you very much. That was excellent. And we're going to have this the whole way through. Don't ask a question. I want you both answered at the same time. So I'm really excited to have you ladies on stage because I have worked with you and your business is pretty amazing and you are pretty amazing at what you do. And I often talk to you, I've gone on a complete side already, but I often talk to you about the fact of there's two of you. And I always wonder about the two person perspective in terms of, I feel like because there's two of you, you're so much more organized. You're so much more productive. You're more motivated their faces and not saying they agreed. But I honestly genuinely do think that's the case. So what you guys have achieved in the short space you have is immense. So let me zip it up. And one of you, both of you, however you want to do it, tell us how you got to do the thing that you do today. Lauras: Um, so we, um, have a business called the hub social media managers, which we set up as we were both freedoms, social media managers, and ads managers, um, and we know that there was a gap in the market. Really. We wanted somewhere where we could go to get support and, um, just for people to understand what it's like to be a freelance social media manager. So we decided to fill that gap really. So we created the hub. Which, um, we support people essentially to grow their business. So we don't teach people how to become a social media manager, but we all support them once they all want to grow their business through our membership and through our Facebook ads courses, et cetera. Um, yeah. So Teresa: for me, what was interesting? Two things, first off, you doing learning about a job and doing it are two entirely different things. Like I did a marketing degree. I can tell you that first day I walked into my first marketing job and they said, "You want to fax that thing and you want to do some franking." I was like, "Sorry, where's the strategy I'm putting together? Uh, where's this, this, this?" Like, it's so different. So I think to, to...

The outbreak of Coronavirus has catapulted the world into a situation that none of us were prepared for. With uncertainty all around, it's hard to know the best thing to do with your finances right now. Join Gaby as she chats with Money Coach, Laura Moore, to discuss managing your money in a crisis. Whatever your current circumstance, you'll pick up some key tips to get you through this tough time.
Why not create a Power Hour: an online consultancy session, where people pay a one-off fee to pick your brain/get advice about a topic you have expertise in? In the short-term - where you may not be able to physically deliver in-person services due to the Coronavirus pandemic - it can help you continue to serve your ideal customers/clients. In the longer-term, it can be a great way to generate additional income for business - without having to leave your desk/studio. It can also be a great way to deal with people who ask for help - but don't seem to want to pay for your time. So the next time someone says: ‘I'd love to pick your brain about xxx,' you can invite them to book a Power Hour. But how do you choose a topic for your Power Hour? What tech will you need to deliver it? And how much should you charge? That's exactly what I'll cover in this podcast episode - along with tips on how to promote your Power Hour. {Click on the player above to listen to the podcast episode and/or read on for a detailed overview. Scroll down to the bottom to read the show notes including all the links mentioned in this episode} As with anything in your business, the more specific/niche you can be the better. So while you can offer a general Power Hour (where anyone can ask you anything about your expert topic) you'll almost certainly get more take up if you hone in on a specific type of customer/client and/or a common problem your customers/clients experience. Here are some examples of Power Hours created by my current/former clients: So for example, Facebook ads expert Laura Moore has a power hour that focuses on increasing ad conversions. Virtual assistant Catherine Gladywyn offers a power hour for VAs who are stuck on something in their business. Architectural technologist Jon Clayton has created a power hour for design and architecture Amy Caiger has a Power Hour that focuses on helping business owners find their niche. If you have a product-based business, you can still create a Power Hour. You can either offer something that relates to the problem you solve. For example, I sell a Social Media Diary & Planner. Although I don't currently do this, I could offer a content planning Power Hour for people who want help creating their content plan. I could offer these sessions to existing diary owners as an upsell. Or I could open them up to anyone who needs help with content planning and offer the diary as an upsell at the end of a consultancy session. Or you could offer a Power Hour to other product-based businesses on how to do something specific that you are already doing successfully but they might be struggling with e.g. creating a marketing plan, setting up a shop on their website. How to deliver your Power Hour You can use video-conferencing software like Zoom which allows you to share your screen and participants share theirs with you. You can also share documents and chat ‘live' with participants. And you can send them the recording afterwards in case they want to go over anything again. Zoom starts from £11.99 a month. Alternatives to Zoom: Go To Meeting, Team Viewer, Join.me, Google Hangouts, Meet.me & BlueJeans. If you're worried your clients will be overwhelmed by the tech, it's a good idea to send them written instructions and/or a video using a free tool like Loom showing them how to use it (including how to join). How to ensure your Power Hour is productive To ensure the session is productive, I'd recommend you do the following: Create a dedicated page on your website for you Power Hour that includes information about the session and a link to book Use a tool like Calendly or Acuity Scheduling so clients can book straight into your diary Send a pre-call email on how to prepare for the session (including any information they might need to bring to the session) and an outline of how the call will be structured.. PLUS instructions on how to use the video conferencing software from their phone/desktop. I'd recommend sending this information immediately after booking, then at least one reminder email before the call Send a follow-up email within 24 hours of the session, with a link to the recording, a short follow-up report with details of what was discussed and up to three key action points (one side of A4 should be plenty). These emails can be re-used and adapted - saving you hours of time in the long run. In fact, the whole process can be automated so people can book straight into your diary, are delivered the link to join the call and reminders before the call. I include template/swipe files for these types of emails in my How To Turn Your Offline Services Into Online Offerings masterclass. If you're worried that what you teach/coach can't be delivered online, I've personally worked with a pilates instructor, bread making teacher, psychologist, personal trainer and jewellery- making teacher - all of whom deliver their training/consultancy online. And if they can do it, so can you. How to price your Power Hour It can be tempting to base your pricing on what others are charging in your industry. But this can lead to you vastly undercharging - or even overcharging - for your services. Your pricing should reflect the transformation you can create for your client - not how long it takes you to prepare and deliver the session. So if you can share information/advice/guidance that can save them tons of time, money and/or help them generate income in their business - because you've spent years honing your craft - your price should absolutely reflect that. I've generated over a million pounds in sales from the copy I've written for my website, sales pages, email marketing and social media. And the reason I'm able to create engaging content is because I spent the best part of 20 years writing and editing for national newspapers. PLUS I've invested huge amounts of time (and money) learning about copywriting - specifically for online business. This means I can look at a sales page, social media post or marketing email and immediately see what needs to be changed. Which is why I charge £500 + VAT for a Power Hour - not £50+ VAT. That said, I haven't always charged that fee. I started at around £99 + VAT and gradually scaled up as I got more experienced and gathered more testimonials. So start by thinking about the transformation you can create for someone and the impact that could have on their life/business. It can help to spell out the return on investment for your clients. So for example, if I could give you some advice on your sales copy that would help 5x your investment, would you think £500 +VAT was expensive? Probably not. It's all about how you frame it. But you do need to have the experience to match your pricing. You can't charge £500 + VAT for your Power Hour just because someone else in your industry is doing it (well you can, but you may not make any sales). So if you haven't yet delivered any Power Hours it can be worth offering a number of discounted sessions so you can gather testimonials. I wouldn't recommend offering them for free. People generally don't value what they get for free. Which means they're more likely to cancel/show up late to the session and less likely to implement your advice. Even a modest fee will ensure they have some skin in the game. How to promote your Power Hour If you already have an email list - great. Simply email your list, tell them about your Power Hour and (providing you've created the right offer for the right audience) you should get bookings. I'd also recommend doing some social media promotion too. If you have a blog/podcast/Youtube channel, it's also worth sharing information about it there. If you don't have an email list (or only have a small list) you'll need to use proactive outreach. That means making a list of people you know (e.g. current/former clients) who might be interested in your offer. PLUS asking for recommendations/referrals from friends/colleagues. If you're not sure how to get started with proactive outreach, the first module in my Build Your Online Audience programme focuses on exactly that topic (and includes email/message templates you can adapt for proactive outreach). The Joyful Mourning - A Podcast for Women Who Have Experienced Pregnancy or Infant Loss
Listen in as I chat with Laura Moore -- a mama who endured the heartbreaking journey of knowing the baby she carried would most likely not live more than a few hours, days at the most, after birth. Laura’s son Hudson was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 and in this episode she shares honestly about her pregnancy, what it was like to prepare for his birth and the tangible ways she did so, how she celebrated his life while he was alive and why maternity photos were incredibly meaningful to her. Laura also talks very specifically about the resources that were most helpful to her as she planned for Hudson’s birth as well as how she went about planning a funeral for her son and the role her friends and family played in that process. Laura spends some time recounting the day her son was born and marvels at what a beautiful day that was. If you or someone you love is walking the journey of carrying a baby that will not live beyond birth -- this episode is both practically helpful and honestly hopeful. I pray that no matter what brought you here today, this episode would serve as a reminder that you are never, ever alone in this journey and that you are more loved than you could ever imagine. -- Thank you to Cultivate What Matters for supporting The Joyful Mourning Podcast. Cultivate What Matters are the creators of the PowerSheets Intentional Goal Planner as well as the Write the Word Journals -- two of my most favorite tools for intentional, purposeful living. For the grieving mama who may find opening the Bible to be too difficult in this season, The Write the Word Journals are a perfect solution. Laura Moore is the Founder of Uppy. She is a Performance Coach specialising in helping driven business and professional women live more. Laura is ridiculously passionate about helping women unlock their full potential so that they can have more time and energy to focus on doing the things they want with the people they want and have a good time in the process. Throughout her years in the health and wellness industry, she has identified that this is only possible if a solid foundation is built at a personal level, the basis of which is optimum health and wellbeing. Most people claim to know this, yet the numbers of lifestyle-related disease continue to rise, as people continue to do the same thing over and over expecting different results. Laura recognised this and developed the Uppy philosophy, which flips current thinking on its head and respects the fact that it is the mind driving the body, and diet and exercise are only a small piece of the puzzle. Laura is sick of seeing women struggle because they have been misinformed or just don’t know there’s another way, so she is on a mission to deliver her philosophy to as many women as possible, because she believes that everyone has a right to know how to live more.
Women Rocking Wall Street - A podcast dedicated to women in financial services
Episode 66: Slowing Down to Speed Things Up Guest: Laura Moore Welcome back to the Women Rocking Wall Street Show! This week’s show is all about how slowing down can actually help you speed things up. Laura Moore has a very interesting business story. Having moved to Australia from the UK several years ago, she fell into the health and wellness industry. Starting as a personal trainer she found that she loved it and therefore threw herself into her work. With several years under her belt, Laura started her own gym, which became her pride and joy. Eight months into the business, and just as it was starting to become profitable, Laura received a call that changed everything. Unfortunately her gym had caught fire and she was faced with a whole host of challenges. She was able to relocate her gym to another location but at that point she had come to the realization that it wasn’t working for her anymore. She also found some changes were happening with her body that put her on a new journey. Eventually she came to the realization that her mind was causing her health issues. This forced her to learn where the problems were stemming from and how to change her behaviour. Today, Laura is the founder of Uppy, a performance and health coaching program that aims to help professional and driven women to make changes in their life to achieve what they want. When we're busy and on the go all the time, our body thinks that we’re in danger, and releases adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones release energy so that we can fight or run. The problem is, if we’re not actually running or fighting, these hormones don’t get used and are left cycling through our system, which results in the extra fat in our hips and belly (known as a cortisol belly). Unfortunately, this fat likes to attract more fat. There are other side effects, including erratic energy, causing extreme exhaustion and moments of high energy, especially at night. Our body can also stop anything that isn’t necessary to function, including digestion, which is what leads to bloating. If these symptoms resonate with you, perhaps it's your body telling you to slow down. There are several things that Laura recommends that you can do to make subtle changes. The biggest thing is becoming aware again with your body and how it responds to different situations. Second, allow your brain to take a break, sometime in the day, so that your body knows that you're not in danger. You can do this by breathing deeply for several minutes. Third, determine what is important to you and identifying your real, deep level goals and values. Finally, she suggests setting boundaries that create more space for you to do the things that meet your goals and values. If you would like to learn more about Laura and Uppy, visit Uppy.com.au.
