Regular listeners would know that we at QF are avid op shoppers. We like nothing more than to rifle through $1 baskets of stale smelling Lycra at our local Noffs in the hope of finding an original Donna Karan bodysuit. But that's because we have the choice. We have the leisure time, the energy and even the funds to cover those pesky op shop inflations..For those one in eight adult Australians who live below the poverty line, and for women in shelters who have escaped domestic violence, choice of any kind is a luxury, and actually so is being gifted the chance of a fresh start with a carefully curated wardrobe of never worn - never sold clothes courtesy of Thread Together.Just a few years ago Burberry was famously caught burning its excess stock for fear it'd end up in the hands of the poor (if you're British you'll know how ironic this is, given the chav check and the old adage that style can't be bought, but that's another story for another episode) ..Impressive, then, that Thread Together has managed to successfully convince 2,000 fashion brands to be less mean (and toxic) about their unsold stock. Overproduction to the tune of 30 per cent is the norm now. According to Thread Together CEO Anthony Chesler, for our planet's eight billion people there are now $100 billion units of clothing being produced annually. No wonder the TT warehouse is so vast.We opened this can of wriggling worms after a tour of the place last year with the man himself…… and while we're none the wiser about overproduction, we wholeheartedly concede that Thread Together is a great service making the best of a bad situation. He is the author of Figuring Out The Past: The 3,495 Vital Statistics that Explain World History. In this episode, we talk about cliodynamics, the use of science, data and maths to study history. We first discuss what it is and how it works, and how it applies to debates like the Big Man vs. Big Ideas debate and whether history repeats itself. We then get into the phenomenon of inequality and elite overproduction. We discuss whether inequality is inevitable; competition, social unrest, and revolution; and how revolutions can be prevented. We talk about why we live in an age of polycrisis, and possible solutions to it.--A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY PATRONS/SUPPORTERS: PER HELGE LARSEN, JERRY MULLER, HANS FREDRIK SUNDE, BERNARDO SEIXAS, ADAM KESSEL, MATTHEW WHITINGBIRD, ARNAUD WOLFF, TIM HOLLOSY, HENRIK AHLENIUS, FILIP FORS CONNOLLY, DAN DEMETRIOU, ROBERT WINDHAGER, RUI INACIO, ZOOP, MARCO NEVES, COLIN HOLBROOK, PHIL KAVANAGH, SAMUEL ANDREEFF, FRANCIS FORDE, TIAGO NUNES, FERGAL CUSSEN, HAL HERZOG, NUNO MACHADO, JONATHAN LEIBRANT, JOÃO LINHARES, STANTON T, SAMUEL CORREA, ERIK HAINES, MARK SMITH, JOÃO EIRA, TOM HUMMEL, SARDUS FRANCE, DAVID SLOAN WILSON, YACILA DEZA-ARAUJO, ROMAIN ROCH, DIEGO LONDOÑO CORREA, YANICK PUNTER, CHARLOTTE BLEASE, NICOLE BARBARO, ADAM HUNT, PAWEL OSTASZEWSKI, NELLEKE BAK, GUY MADISON, GARY G HELLMANN, SAIMA AFZAL, ADRIAN JAEGGI, PAULO TOLENTINO, JOÃO BARBOSA, JULIAN PRICE, EDWARD HALL, HEDIN BRØNNER, DOUGLAS FRY, FRANCA BORTOLOTTI, GABRIEL PONS CORTÈS, URSULA LITZCKE, SCOTT, ZACHARY FISH, TIM DUFFY, SUNNY SMITH, JON WISMAN, WILLIAM BUCKNER, PAUL-GEORGE ARNAUD, LUKE GLOWACKI, GEORGIOS THEOPHANOUS, CHRIS WILLIAMSON, PETER WOLOSZYN, DAVID WILLIAMS, DIOGO COSTA, ANTON ERIKSSON, ALEX CHAU, AMAURI MARTÍNEZ, CORALIE CHEVALLIER, BANGALORE ATHEISTS, LARRY D. In this lecture, Stefan Molyneux analyzes the relationship between capitalism and socialism through Peter Kropotkin's critiques. He emphasizes the importance of addressing societal needs over profit motives and discusses capitalism's inefficiencies and mischaracterizations, particularly in terms of overproduction and scarcity. Molyneux contrasts Kropotkin's vision of decentralized production with capitalist structures, examining the dynamics between workers and capitalists while critiquing governmental roles in sustaining monopolies. He advocates for a transformative perspective that prioritizes genuine needs in economic frameworks.GET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free! Also get the Truth About the French Revolution, multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material, as well as targeted AIs for Real-Time Relationships, BitCoin, Peaceful Parenting, and Call-Ins. David Allen says that despite Trump's “Drill, Baby, Drill” energy mentality on the campaign trail, the industry knows that overproduction “kills companies.” He discusses production in the Permian Basin, which he expects to plateau in the next few years and have major impact on oil prices, and what moves OPEC+ might make. ======== Schwab Network ======== Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. Whether it is solar panels or steel, clothes or tech, many of the world's manufactures are made in China. But did you know that the Chinese manufacturing sector is not really supply and demand driven and tends to produce far more than the rest of the world demands? Now… with a faltering post-COVID recovery, a housing market collapse, and worsening relationship with the West, is China's economy in a genuine state of crisis? And could a troubled Chinese economy, unable to be buoyed by the recently announced stimulus, spread more Disorder globally? And what should the US and UK do to contain China's disordering potential? And how are different approaches to the Chinese economy a key electoral issue in the upcoming US Presidential election? Jason Pack is joined by Zongyuan ‘Zoe' Liu, the Maurice R. Greenberg Fellow for China Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, and author of Sovereign Funds: How the Communist Party of China Finances Its Global Ambitions. Jason and Zoe discuss how China's economic policies – characterized by a motley mix of market-driven and state-controlled elements – have led to both tremendous Chinese excellence in manufacturing and also oversupply. The duo also discuss: the changing US-China relationship, the implications of Chinese overproduction on the global economy, and the role of massive Chinese provincial government debt. As they Order the Disorder, they suggest how existing institutions like the World Trade Organization could work better, and how to patch up the failing marriage between China and the West. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis defied a subpoena on Friday asking her to testify before the Georgia Senate Special Committee on Investigations, which is probing allegations that Willis misused taxpayer funds. The chairman said his committee plans to force her to attend through a judicial order. The Biden administration hiked tariffs on Chinese imports on Friday, including tariffs of 100 percent on electric vehicles, 50 percent on solar cells, and 25 percent on steel, aluminum, EV batteries, and critical minerals. The White House said the tariffs will strengthen protections for strategic domestic industries from Chinese overproduction. The tariffs are expected to go into effect on Sept. 27. Lean is more than a methodology—it's a mindset that emphasizes eliminating waste and continuously improving processes. By applying Lean principles, you focus on maximizing value and removing unnecessary steps. Consider the classic example of choosing between avoiding traffic to arrive early or sitting in traffic for hours. Lean encourages you to not just minimize bottlenecks but also explore smarter alternatives. Agile frameworks take their foundations from Lean thinking. Lean promotes continuous experimentation to deliver value faster. Remember the mnemonic “Down Time” to identify and address key types of waste: Defects, Overproduction, Waiting, Non-utilized Talent, Transportation, Inventory, Motion, and Extra Processing. By questioning outdated practices and optimizing every step, you save time, enhance quality, and boost customer satisfaction. Embrace Lean to streamline success and drive meaningful improvements.
In Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, when a scrappy crew of kids tries to save America to get the truth out about a corrupt businessman, the businessman swarms the state with pamphlets, newspapers, parades, radio broadcasts to maintain his power. Controlling the narrative sometimes just means out-talking your opponent, and many of our most pernicious new media stars just overproduced content until they rose to the top: Twitch streaming leftists, podcast bros, Mr. Beast endurance videos. Now we have the IDF livestreaming war crimes and bots out-posting the victims of a celebrity's sexual assaults to take over search results. Nico and Jessa discuss the culture of chronic posting and asks where is the CIA when you need them? For show notes and references: http://theculturewedeserve.substack.com

It is produced endogenously in the liver and absorbed exogenously from dietary sources. Endogenous Production: Cholesterol is synthesized in the liver through the mevalonate pathway. Key intermediates: Lathosterol and Desmosterol, indicators of cholesterol production rate. Exogenous Absorption: Dietary cholesterol is absorbed in the intestines along with plant sterols like Beta-sitosterol and Campesterol. These sterols compete with cholesterol for absorption, reflecting dietary cholesterol absorption levels. Section 2: Detailed Analysis of the Test Components Production Markers: Lathosterol: Precursor in the cholesterol biosynthesis pathway. Elevated levels indicate increased hepatic cholesterol synthesis (overproduction). Example: Lathosterol level of 329 µmol x 100/mmol in my study indicates hyperactive cholesterol production. Desmosterol: Another precursor in the synthesis pathway, contributing to total cholesterol production. High levels reinforce the diagnosis of increased cholesterol production. Example: Desmosterol level of 74 µmol x 100/mmol in my study supports elevated production. Absorption Markers: Beta-sitosterol: Plant sterol absorbed in the intestines, competes with cholesterol. High levels suggest increased absorption of dietary cholesterol. Example: Beta-sitosterol level of 120 µmol x 100/mmol indicates borderline absorption. Campesterol: Similar to Beta-sitosterol, reflects cholesterol absorption efficiency. Elevated levels indicate increased absorption. Example: Campesterol level of 113 µmol x 100/mmol within normal limits but suggests absorption could be a factor. Cholesterol Balance Score: Ratio of production to absorption markers. A higher score indicates predominant cholesterol production; a lower score indicates absorption as the main issue. Example: Score of 2.4 suggests overproduction is the dominant issue. Section 3: Clinical Implications and Treatment Strategies (10 minutes) Frequency of Overproduction vs. Overabsorption: Common to see patients with either overproduction or overabsorption, but less commonly both. Overproducers: Significant portion of hypercholesterolemia patients, especially those with genetic conditions like Familial Hypercholesterolemia. Overabsorbers: Often have high-cholesterol diets or genetic predispositions. Treatment Implications: Overproducers: Statins are first-line treatment; they inhibit HMG-CoA reductase in cholesterol synthesis. Overabsorbers: Ezetimibe, which inhibits intestinal cholesterol absorption, can be effective. Combination Therapy: Considered for mixed dyslipidemia cases. Case Examples: Example of a patient with high production markers but borderline absorption: Statin therapy may be appropriate, with potential addition of Ezetimibe. Example of a patient who is a high absorber but not a high producer: Dietary changes and Ezetimibe might suffice without statins. Section 4: Physiological Mechanisms and Genetic Considerations Pathophysiology of Cholesterol Production: Overproduction may result from genetic mutations (LDL receptor or PCSK9) or conditions like insulin resistance. Pathophysiology of Cholesterol Absorption: Increased absorption could be due to genetic polymorphisms (NPC1L1 gene), leading to higher dietary cholesterol absorption. Section 5: Practical Application in Clinical Practice Incorporating the Test into Clinical Workflow: Integrate the Boston Heart Cholesterol Balance Test for patients with unexplained hypercholesterolemia or non-responders to standard therapy. Tailor treatment based on whether a patient is an overproducer, an overabsorber, or both. Patient Communication: Explain test results in an understandable way, emphasizing personalized treatment plans.

Jason gives an overview of the current state of various real estate markets, highlighting a slight sellers' advantage with the national median price at $453,000. He underscored the diversified nature of real estate as an asset class and invited attendees to join the upcoming free monthly Zoom meeting with Tom Wheelwright. Additionally, he thanked those who participated in the previous night's empowered investor pro meeting. Then Jason finishes up his talk with Peter Turchin. When too many people compete for limited positions, it leads to widespread crisis, a trend observed in over 200 historical instances. This "illiterate production" causes societal instability as rule-breaking becomes rampant, leading to violence. Popular immigration and overproduction of elite aspirants further exacerbate the issue by creating a large pool of discontented individuals. Economic disparity and precarious living conditions fuel social unrest, potentially leading to civil wars or revolutions. To avoid such outcomes, societies must align wage growth with productivity and reduce wealth concentration. Learning from history, addressing structural problems can prevent collapse and promote societal well-being. https://peterturchin.com/ #PeterTurchin #Cliodynamics #ComplexityScience #SocialDisintegration #EliteOverproduction #HistoricalTrends #PoliticalInstability #MathematicalModeling #CulturalEvolution #WealthInequality Key Takeaways: Jason's editorial 1:55 Rising national housing inventory 3:15 Hunstsville, Birmingham AL, Jacksonville FL, Memphis TN housing inventory 4:05 I.I.D.D 4:31 JasonHartman.com/Wednesday Peter Turchin's interview part 2 6:33 Precarity, elites and counter elites and the overproduction of lawyers 10:49 Where do we go from here 14:59 We need a strong middle class society 18:39 Demographics and automation, Ai, robotics, etc. 23:43 Developing the science of societies 25:28 Blog post: Mastering the Art of Selling Lots and Land The Complete Starter on the Topic Follow Jason on TWITTER, INSTAGRAM & LINKEDIN Twitter.com/JasonHartmanROI Instagram.com/jasonhartman1/ Linkedin.com/in/jasonhartmaninvestor/ Call our Investment Counselors at: 1-800-HARTMAN (US) or visit: https://www.jasonhartman.com/ Free Class: Easily get up to $250,000 in funding for real estate, business or anything else: http://JasonHartman.com/Fund CYA Protect Your Assets, Save Taxes & Estate Planning: http://JasonHartman.com/Protect Get wholesale real estate deals for investment or build a great business – Free Course: https://www.jasonhartman.com/deals Special Offer from Ron LeGrand: https://JasonHartman.com/Ron Free Mini-Book on Pandemic Investing: https://www.PandemicInvesting.com

Today, I was really honored to interview the incredible Lynan Saperstein. Not only is she a new, older mom (she gave birth at 39. and she's breastfeeding at 40), but she is a soulful, heart-driven entrepreneur with a passion for energetic clearing. She offers group energy programs as well as private sessions. You can check her out at ElementalSphere.com.Lynan's milk came in very fast. She described it as terrifying. She thought she had mastitis. Ultimately, she learned she was an overproducer, which was quite messy, actually. Additionally, she shares the traumatizing experience she had with a breast pump during labor, so it took a long while to try pumping after the baby was born. She also tells the story of her cracked nipple and how Lanolin nipple cream and Silverettes helped. Her daughter is 11 months old and she is still almost exclusively breastfeeding on demand. Lynan shares how she is preparing for a long haul breastfeeding journey. We also learn about her experience co-sleeping, night feeding, the first 40 days ritual, why we should give Dad's breastmilk and so much more. In episode 314, you'll hear our first official roundtable format, featuring guests Beth Jones, YouTube star and creator of B. Jones Style, alongside Dounia Wone, the Chief Impact Officer at Vestiaire Collective, a platform that showcases luxury preloved fashion. “It's few and far between that the fast fashion holds up against vintage or really quality pieces maybe made by a designer or things like that … Even if it has a vintage look to it, there's something about it that doesn't hold up in a way. And honestly, I will be a little bummed. It's Zara. I'd rather have the old Kathys of California blazer or dress. I end up not being excited about it, so often, I just go with something else instead.” -Beth “Vestiaire is a 15 year old company. Our founders really believed in fighting overconsumption and overproduction back then in Paris … When I went to them and said ‘ok, let's ban fast fashion,' they were completely in … what we want is that it will educate the consumers on our platform. What we were looking at is the behavior … what we saw for the last year was actually people are staying on the platform, 70% of the people who were impacted by the ban stayed on the platform and actually reinvested more and bought less.” -Dounia JANUARY THEME — Fast Fashion, Consumption & Why Self Work Is Integral To Changemaking When we talk about the messes of the fashion industry, a recurring theme we circle back to is – OVERPRODUCTION – especially with regard to fast fashion. Whether you're super interested in sustainability and fashion or you're new to the conversation, most people today are coming to the basic conclusion that fast fashion is problematic, due to its incessant mass production. There has been a lot of commentary over the last 7 years, about I guess, the questioning of our moral compass, when it comes to how we shop for fast fashion. What do I mean by that? Let's break it down. We know that fast fashion is everywhere, and that so much of our clothing ends up in charity shops, where sadly, a great deal of it is destined for landfill. So, to address this cycle, does it make sense to buy fast fashion from the secondhand economy? Can we then prevent these clothes from ending up in landfills? It's not that simple. Other questions come up like – “If we adopt the same shopping behaviors in the secondhand economy as we have with fast fashion, what really changes? Where do we draw the line?” Or Aren't we just encouraging the fast fashion industry to churn out more *stuff* to feed the overproducing system it has generated? In this week's episode, we chat with two incredible powerhouse women from very different realms of the fashion industry. They each contribute so much to helping dissect this tension – We explore the layers of responsibility we hold as everyday individuals The power organizations hold in enacting change And how lobbying and legislation is an integral part of fashioning a better future for fashion. We also discuss the power of personal style and how we can all start shifting our buying behavior by ‘Always Playing Dress Up'. Sound familiar? One of our guests coined that very phrase. Tune in as we dive deeper into our January theme – Fast Fashion, Consumption & Why Self Work Is Integral To Changemaking. Is human population growth to blame for poverty and climate change? Plenty of pundits and politicians on the right and left alike seem to think so. Knowingly or not, they repeat the reactionary ideas of the Reverend Thomas Malthus, whose economic and social theories Marx and Engels demolished nearly 200 years ago. Yet today, the […]
