In this podcast interview, Tavi Costa from Crescat Capital discusses the emerging bullish cycle in the metals and mining sector, highlighting several key macro trends and investment opportunities. Costa believes we are in the early stages of a long-term commodity cycle, with gold leading the way and other metals poised to follow. The discussion centers on three primary pillars: energy sources, infrastructure, and raw materials. Costa argues that the increasing electricity demand, driven by artificial intelligence and onshoring trends, will create significant opportunities in metals and mining. He emphasizes the critical need for metals to support emerging technological and infrastructure developments, particularly in the United States. A pivotal moment Costa highlights is the U.S. Department of Defense's 15% stake in MP Materials, which he sees as a recognition of strategic material vulnerabilities. This investment signals a potential shift in how governments view critical resources and mining infrastructure. Costa also discusses the potential macroeconomic trajectory, suggesting two potential paths: a deflationary shock or an inflationary era followed by a highly efficient, deflationary period driven by AI. He believes we are currently in an inflationary buildup phase that will eventually transition to increased productivity and efficiency. Regarding currencies, Costa anticipates a long-term decline in the U.S. dollar versus other currencies, driven by significant fiscal and trade deficits. He sees this as part of a broader "domino effect" of macro trends, where acceptance of risk gradually moves through different asset classes and markets. The interview concludes with Costa identifying the exploration and development phase of the mining industry, alongside emerging markets, as potentially the most asymmetric investment opportunities of his career. He encourages investors to pay attention to the interconnected nature of these macro trends and the gradual rotation of capital across different sectors and geographies.

Nick Hodge, Co-Owner of Digest Publishing and editor of Foundational Profits and Hodge Family Office, joins us for a longer-format discussion on and the macro and micro themes that are continuing to push the US general equities, cryptocurrencies, and commodities markets ever higher, in an “Everything is awesome,” melt-up higher. Nick shares how he has been positioned early in these trends with rare earths, copper, uranium, and critical minerals stocks. We start off reviewing how the US fiscal policy is leading to a weaker US dollar, which has been a key tailwind to US equities, cryptos, and the commodities sectors. We review the impacts of the back-to-back Biden and Trump administration policies that both increased the US debt and deficits, with the passage of large fiscal policy bills, that have acted as an additional tailwind to the critical minerals and energy metals side of the mining sector. Both the Inflation Reduction Act and the Big Beautiful Bill respectively, had provisions in them for accelerating the development of nuclear power infrastructure and uranium mining, a focus on critical minerals like lithium, rare earths, and copper, and how this is bringing in new investors waking up to how the commodities space is really the building blocks of many other sectors in our economy and daily life. This leads into a more in-depth discussion on the rare earth sector in particular, where Nick notes the recent Department of Defense investment into MP Materials Corp. (NYSE: MP) as a key stakeholder, but also providing them a floor on their Neodymium products, and agreeing to be a buyer future magnet production. Then, shortly thereafter, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) made a $500M investment into MP Materials to accelerate and help fund the future development of a permanent magnet recycling plant in Texas. Nick points to CoTec Holdings Corp. (TSXV:CTH)(OTCQB:CTHCF), as another company poised to start recycling permanent magnets, also in Texas. Additionally, he highlights the heavy rare earth production capacity increasing from Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX: EFR) (NYSE American: UUUU), as another way to participate in the tailwinds pushing the rare earth stocks higher. Next we pivoted over to the importance of copper, and the recent move higher in prices on the back of the proposed Trump tariff on this energy metal. Nick flags Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (NYSE: FCX) as a domestic producer that he feels has been offering investors a good accumulation period on future growing revenues. He also highlights his recent private placement into an earlier-stage prospect generator, Kincora Copper Limited (TSXV: KCC) (ASX: KCC), with exploration properties looking for copper and gold porphyries in Australia. Nick also describes how this company has forged partnerships with AI and technology companies; a trend that he expects to see more of as the mining sector evolves and more companies look to secure their own supply chains. Rounding out the discussion on critical minerals, and providing an example of how to trim and reposition on pullbacks in winning portfolio positions, Nick discussed how he has approached trading around a core position in Bravo Mining Corp. (TSXV: BRVO) (OTCQX: BRVMF). This leads into a segment where Nick shares what changes he has made to how he approached managing his portfolio, and other best practices for trading and investing within the resource sector as this bull market evolves over time. Interview with Mark Chalmers, President & CEO of Energy Fuels Inc.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/the-next-uranium-supercycle-energy-fuels-isoenergy-on-geopolitics-mills-and-market-gaps-7209Recording date: 21st July 2025Energy Fuels (NYSE/TSE) has emerged as a unique critical minerals company, anchored by its position as the largest uranium producer in the United States while strategically expanding into rare earth elements production. Under CEO Mark Chalmers' leadership, the company operates the White Mesa Mill, which serves as a critical processing hub capable of switching between uranium and rare earth campaigns, providing operational flexibility and consistent cash flow generation. The company's rare earth strategy centers on producing both light and heavy rare earth elements, with particular strength in heavies like dysprosium and terbium where China maintains a stranglehold on global supply. Energy Fuels has already achieved commercial production of NDPR oxide and is advancing heavy separations, positioning itself as the third-largest publicly traded rare earth company globally behind MP Materials and Lynas. The fully permitted Donald project in Australia represents a significant strategic asset, offering heavy mineral sands with high-grade rare earth concentrates that can be processed at White Mesa.Recent market recognition has been driven by government support for critical mineral independence, exemplified by Department of Defense and Apple investments in MP Materials. Energy Fuels is well-positioned to benefit from similar government backing, given its proven production capabilities and strategic assets. The company's approach emphasizes building rather than promoting, with demonstrated technical competence across multiple critical mineral streams. The uranium business provides immediate cash flow strength, particularly from the high-grade Pinyon Plain project, which has delivered grades significantly exceeding expectations. With approximately $250 million in working capital and a clear pathway to scaling production across both uranium and rare earths, Energy Fuels offers investors exposure to critical minerals essential for energy transition and national security, backed by operational expertise and a diversified asset base spanning the United States, Australia, and Brazil.—View Energy Fuels' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/energy-fuelsSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Locksley Resources Ltd (ASX:LKY, OTCQB:LKYRF) technical director Julian Woodcock talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's exploration activities at its Mojave Project in California, targeting critical minerals including rare earth elements and antimony. Woodcock explained that the project is strategically located adjacent to MP Materials' Mountain Pass Mine — the only rare earth mine currently producing in the United States. The proximity to such a key domestic supply source underscores Mojave's potential importance, especially amid rising US efforts to secure critical mineral supply chains. The company recently completed structural mapping across the Desert Antimony and El Campo prospects. Woodcock said this had enabled the development of a 3D geological model that is helping define drill targets more precisely. “It's significantly improved our understanding,” he noted. Locksley has secured drilling permits for five holes at El Campo and three at the Desert Antimony Mine, with plans to expand the latter to up to 15 holes. Samples have shown rare earth oxide grades of up to 12.1% and neodymium-praseodymium concentrations of 3.2%, with antimony samples grading as high as 46%. “We're funded for this drilling,” Woodcock said, adding that the company is in discussions with US agencies around potential involvement. Interview with Tim Harrison, Managing Director of Ionic Rare EarthsOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/ionic-rare-earths-asxixr-pioneering-sustainable-magnet-recycling-in-the-uk-with-govt-backing-6414Recording date: 21st July 2025Ionic Rare Earths (ASX:IXR) presents a compelling investment opportunity in the strategically critical rare earth elements sector, positioned to capitalize on the fundamental transformation of global supply chains away from Chinese dominance. The company's unique combination of proprietary recycling technology, government backing, and geographic diversification strategy addresses urgent Western supply chain security needs while targeting the most constrained segments of the rare earth market.Following China's April 2025 export restrictions on seven medium and heavy rare earth elements, Ionic has experienced substantial increased inquiry for its dysprosium and terbium production capabilities. The company's Belfast recycling facilities produce separated oxides with consistent quality, differentiating it from competitors who typically produce mixed concentrates. This technology enables magnet manufacturers to achieve specific performance characteristics required for defense applications, electric vehicles, and wind turbine systems. The recent US Department of Defense investment establishing floor pricing for neodymium-praseodymium at $110 per kilogram by MP Materials—representing approximately 100% premiums—demonstrates the strategic priority and improved economics for alternative suppliers. Apple's subsequent supply agreement with MP Materials further validates customer willingness to pay premiums for supply chain security, creating opportunities for complementary suppliers like Ionic.Ionic's proprietary intellectual property for magnet recycling produces separated oxides, enabling precise control over rare earth compositions. The Belfast facility serves as a scalable template for rapid global deployment, reducing development risks and capital requirements for expansion. Managing Director Tim Harrison emphasized: "On recycling, we'll be able to rapidly deploy recycling in Brazil. So what we do in Brazil will be a natural beneficiary of all of the work, all the school fees that have been paid in Belfast."The company's focus on heavy rare earths—dysprosium and terbium—addresses the most strategically valuable and constrained market segment. Unlike mining operations requiring extensive permitting, recycling facilities benefit from streamlined approvals and access to urban waste streams, enabling faster deployment timelines.Ionic operates across multiple jurisdictions, reducing single-country risk while accessing different funding sources. The company has secured £11 million from the UK government's supply chain initiative and is progressing toward additional grant funding through the Advanced Propulsion Centre for the Belfast commercial facility, estimated at £85 million total project cost. The Viridion joint venture in Brazil with Viridis Mining and Minerals combines upstream resources with Ionic's downstream processing capabilities. The partnership is pursuing substantial funding through Brazil's BNDES and FINEP programs, with announcements expected near-term. The company has already demonstrated operational capability by recycling Brazilian-sourced magnets and delivering separated oxides to local supply chain partners.US market expansion represents the largest opportunity, driven by defense spending priorities and reshoring initiatives. The company has been actively engaging Washington DC stakeholders and potential partners throughout 2025.The convergence of geopolitical tensions, supply shortages, and government backing creates unprecedented conditions for value creation in rare earth processing. Ionic's NATO-aligned supply chain positioning enables access to defense contracts with stable, long-term pricing. The strategic importance of rare earths has unlocked government funding mechanisms, reducing traditional project finance risks while customer urgency creates opportunities for advance payment structures and premium pricing.Ionic Rare Earths represents exposure to the structural transformation from cost-optimization to security-prioritization in strategic materials procurement, positioning investors to benefit from the emerging Western rare earth ecosystem.View Ionic Rare Earths' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/ionic-rare-earths-ltdSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
Interview with Darrin Campbell, President & CEO of Namibia Critical Metals Inc.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/namibia-critical-metals-tsxvnmi-jv-funded-rare-earth-project-pfs-due-oct-24-5707Recording date: 17th July 2025Namibia Critical Metals (TSXV:NMI) is positioning itself as a critical player in the global supply chain security landscape through development of the Lofdal heavy rare earth project in Namibia. The project represents one of the largest deposits of dysprosium and terbium outside China, targeting annual production of 150 tons of dysprosium and 30 tons of terbium from a compact 1,500-2,000 ton TREO operation. The company's strategic advantage lies in its focus on premium heavy rare earth elements rather than the more common light rare earths. While most projects target neodymium-praseodymium selling at $65 per kilogram, Lofdal's dysprosium commands $250 per kilogram and terbium exceeds $1,000 per kilogram. These elements are essential for high-temperature permanent magnet applications in defense systems, aerospace, and advanced electric vehicle motors.Namibia Critical Metals has secured a transformational partnership with JOGMEC, the Japanese government agency responsible for securing natural resources for Japanese industry. JOGMEC has invested $17 million to earn 40% of the project, with plans to reach 50% ownership through $20 million total investment. The partnership structure offers exceptional optionality for shareholders, including potential full project funding with a 26% carried working interest.Technical development has progressed substantially through 2025, with pilot-scale testing validating the hydrometallurgical flowsheet and XRT/XRF sorting technology demonstrating significant grade enhancement capabilities. The Pre-Feasibility Study remains on track for completion by year-end 2025, with capital expenditure targets under $300 million. The recent US Department of Defense investment in MP Materials, establishing 70% premium floor pricing for rare earths, validates the strategic importance of supply chain security and suggests growing government support for critical minerals projects outside Chinese control. With China controlling approximately 70% of global rare earth production, projects like Lofdal address acute supply vulnerabilities in Western defense and technology industries.View Namibia Critical Metals' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/namibia-critical-metals-incSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

“The entire theme undercurrent in this [recent] conference was national defense. We, the United States, are going to re-industrialize because we want to be self-sufficient in critical industries, be they national defense like drones or A.I. or critical materials like battery production, and I would argue that that narrative of national defense has now permeated the junior mining and the mining world as well,” Chris Berry, president of House Martin Partners, shares in this MSE episode. The discussion with Chris revolves around the U.S. Department of Defense's investment in MP Materials and its implications for the rare earth and lithium markets. Chris highlights the significant shift towards national defense as a driver in the mining sector, the intricacies of rare earth pricing, and the potential of Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE). The episode also touches on the evolving narrative from net zero to national defense and the critical role of public-private partnerships in reestablishing the U.S. as a dominant player in critical metals. Investors will find valuable insight into strategic opportunities and potential profit areas within the USA critical metals stocks. 0:00 Intro 0:36 DOD Investment in MP Materials 5:32 Rare Earth Pricing and Market Dynamics 7:55 Global Rare Earth Supply Chain Challenges 12:28 Opportunities and Risks in Rare Earth Investments 15:22 Lithium Market Insights and Future Outlook 25:46 Oil Super Majors Entering the Lithium Market 27:11 The Role of Major Companies in Lithium Extraction 27:36 Challenges and Promises of Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) 30:43 Comparing Hard Rock and DLE Lithium Mining 32:39 Volatility and Pricing in the Lithium Market 37:25 Opportunities and Challenges in Lithium Refining 45:31 The Impact of AI on the Investment World 47:57 Chris's Background and Services 52:01 Conclusion and Final Thoughts Chris Berry's website: https://www.discoveryinvesting.com/ Sign up for our free newsletter and receive interview transcripts, stock profiles and investment ideas: http://eepurl.com/cHxJ39 Mining Stock Education (MSE) offers informational content based on available data but it does not constitute investment, tax, or legal advice. Matthew Miller says MP Materials (MP) making deals with the Department of Defense and Apple (AAPL) point to positive catalysts. For the DoD deal, Matthew adds that it increased the company's rare earth pricing power setting a $110 per kilogram price floor. On the Apple announcement, he said the timing was a "surprise" after the DoD deal, but believes Apple's desire to increase supply chain offerings outside of Asia made the deal pretty much inevitable.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. It's good for the country, good for American workers, and it'll prove to be good business, too.” “Other companies should take notice,” the White House official added. The deal also includes building a new recycling facility in Mountain Pass, California, which will reportedly reprocess materials from used electronics to be used in future Apple products. They dive into the geopolitical and fiscal catalysts behind copper and rare earths—including Trump's new 50% tariff on imported copper and a $10B Department of Defense deal with MP Materials. Gerardo and Jody both stress the significance of guaranteed pricing and long-term offtake agreements to fund North America's critical mineral renaissance. Expect this to spark an arms race in strategic metal supply chains—with Canada likely to benefit.Market Takes - The discussion turns to specific metals and how they're reacting to macro shifts. Cesium, gallium, and tantalum—largely overlooked—are positioned as game-changers, especially with Patriot Battery Metals' Corvette deposit potentially hosting the highest concentration of these metals ever found in one location. Lithium stocks are rebounding hard after being crushed, and Jody makes the case that we've already seen the bottom. Gold is “only in the 4th inning,” silver just broke out above $37, and platinum group metals are seeing their biggest monthly moves in decades.Bizarro Banter - Gerardo calls silver the “mistress” and gold the “wife” in a riff about investor psychology. Jody compares Patriot's cesium potential to a uranium deposit in terms of value density and scarcity. They both emphasize the importance of reassaying historic drill core for overlooked metals—a move that could unlock entirely new asset classes. Talk turns to solar panels, energy storage, and EVs—arguing that Patriot's cesium could revolutionize the solar industry via perovskite tech. They wrap with thoughts on grid independence, battery tech, and how U.S.-Canada cooperation could trigger the next lithium boom.Premium Portfolio Picks - For paid listeners only. In this expansive episode, Ghost dives deep into Africa's shifting alliances and the global scramble for critical resources. He opens with Trump's Africa Summit, where five West African nations were invited to Washington to negotiate trade deals centered on rare earth minerals, oil, and gas. Ghost methodically dissects NPR and AP coverage, showing how Western media narratives obscure the real incentives driving U.S. outreach, countering China's and Russia's growing footholds across the continent. Using detailed maps and timelines, he explains how military coups in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso have created a new power bloc aligned with Russia, and why Liberia, Gabon, and others were strategically selected for engagement. The conversation moves to the Pentagon's controversial investment in MP Materials, effectively nationalizing America's only rare earth mine to break dependence on Chinese supply chains. Ghost then pivots to Israel's turmoil, exploring how Netanyahu's government is trapped between domestic collapse, far-right coalition partners, and stalled Gaza negotiations. With plenty of sidebars, on rare earth land grabs, CIA-backed coups, and the long game of economic warfare, this episode is equal parts exposé and history lesson, revealing how old empires still pull the strings behind modern headlines.

Joel Elconin, Co-Host of the PreMarket Prep Show and Co-Founder of the Stock Trader Network, joins me for a wild trading session as the general US stock indexes blast to new all-time highs, and many tech and growth stocks have some very volatile trading in this risk-on environment. Key topics include: The S&P 500 and Nasdaq blasted up to new all-time highs in Thursday's trading session. We talk about what a different week we are having compared to what many projected we'd have, initially thinking the Trump reciprocal tariffs were coming off this week. Instead they were pushed back and the TACO trade is alive and well. Travel and leisure stocks surged, with notable moves higher this week from Delta Airlines and Royal Caribbean. This brings up the concept of “digital nomads” and how as many as 50 million individuals are taking their digital work with them to travel more and work in multiple destinations. Growth stock are in and value stocks are out. Berkshire Hathaway, one of the preeminent value stocks has been in a downtrend since May, coinciding both with the markets breaking higher, and Warren Buffett stepping down from the company he built over multiple decades. Tesla remains resilient, no matter how many tangents Elon Musk goes on publicly. Joel reviews technical levels in (TLSA), but points out that it is somewhat of a cult stock, and there always ends up being a bid come in for this “love stock.” There has been an unusual opportunity developing in the trading arbitrage since the new market darling CoreWeave, Inc (CRWV) announced its intention to acquire Core Scientific (CORZ). Joel breaks down how the pair trade evolved with a “buy the rumor sell the news” effect, and how there wasn't a good way to borrow short against CoreWeave, so the arbitrage got wider, but there was uncertainty on if the deal will go through keep some investors from buying Core Scientific. The gap is starting to narrow more, but it could still be a compelling arb-trade for those traders with the right risk tolerance temperament. MP Materials (MP) skyrocketed up roughly 50% on Thursday's session after the US government became their largest shareholder. US Defense Department just announced becoming MP Materials' biggest shareholder in a multibillion-dollar deal to boost output of rare earth magnets and help loosen China's grip on the materials used to build weapons, electric vehicles and many electronics. America will, once again, build a DOMINANT Copper Industry. THIS IS, AFTER ALL, OUR GOLDEN AGE! Trump Administration Takes Stake in Rare Earths Firm In Move To End China's Control The Trump administration is deepening its effort to sever U.S. reliance on Chinese rare earth supplies, committing $400 million in equity financing to MP Materials Corp. as part of a broader plan to expand domestic production of rare earth magnets used in advanced weapons systems and industrial technologies. The Department of Defense will acquire a newly issued class of preferred stock in MP Materials, convertible into common shares, along with warrants to purchase additional equity. Following the transaction, which is expected to close Friday, the Pentagon will become the company's largest shareholder, with a potential stake of about 15%, according to MP Materials. The deal also includes a 10-year commitment by the U.S. government to support pricing and demand for domestically produced rare earth magnets. The Defense Department has guaranteed the purchase of 100 percent of the output from a planned magnet manufacturing facility—dubbed the “10X” plant—at a minimum price of $110 per kilogram for neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr), a key rare earth alloy used in missile guidance systems, fighter jets, and electric motors. The U.S. imported roughly 70 percent of its rare earths from China in 2023, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The push to reshore the supply chain gained urgency during the trade war launched by President Trump, when Beijing threatened to restrict rare earth exports. In this episode of The Daily Herold, Jon Herold digs into the week's biggest headlines with humor and sharp analysis. He opens by unpacking the Pentagon's massive investment in MP Materials, which effectively makes the Department of Defense the largest shareholder in America's only operational rare earth mine, a move Jon calls a stealth nationalization disguised as a “public-private partnership.” He then breaks down Trump's 50% copper tariff, its national security rationale, and Brazil's retaliatory tariff threats after Trump hit them over free speech suppression. The show dives deep into Russiagate developments, including the new FISA court approvals to share previously classified Carter Page warrant documents with Congress, and Jon questions why John Durham didn't uncover what Ratcliffe's criminal referral on John Brennan has exposed. Other highlights include Secret Service suspensions tied to the Trump assassination attempt, NASA's leadership shake-up, Supreme Court rulings blocking Trump's birthright citizenship order, and Trump's newly announced tariffs on Brazil. Jon wraps up by calling for more transparency, less rainbow-pilled hopium, and a sober look at how narrative control shapes expectations.
