DESIGN YOUR FAMILY'S UNIQUE HOMESCHOOL THAT YOU'LL LOVE! https://littlebylittlehomeschool.com/blueprint     Homeschooling is about way more than school academics. It's creating a relationship that welcomes open dialogue and discussion about anything and everything. One of those topics should be our bodies and how we can take care of them well. And that includes our pelvic floor.  Today's guest is Jenn Lormand of Tighten Your Tinkler and we are specifically focusing on sharing all about pelvic floor health with your daughter.  Many of us weren't taught about this and had to quickly learn after a health crisis or bothersome symptoms. Our goal in this episode is to equip you with some actionable information so that you can begin to teach your daughter how to be proactive in her health. As we mention in the beginning of this episode, it is rated G, but you may want to listen with ear buds or when your children aren't around so that you may gather information and dispense it as is appropriate for your family. ♥ Leigh   TIGHTEN YOUR TINKLER WEBSITE: https://www.tightenyourtinkler.com/  COURSE (USE CODE LITTLE50 TO SAVE $50!):  https://www.tightenyourtinkler.com/signatureprogram 5 Minute Root Cause Quiz (for moms): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6YGTYNF Resource page: https://www.tightenyourtinkler.com/support Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tighten.your.tinkler/ YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@tightenyourtinkler         CREATE YOUR HOMESCHOOL FAMILY'S HOME TASK SYSTEM https://www.littlebylittlehomeschool.com/tidyhome    LITTLE BY LITTLE HOMESCHOOL CONFERENCE TICKETS:  https://littlebylittlehomeschool.com/conference   GET EXCLUSIVE MENTORSHIP WITH LEIGH https://littlebylittlehomeschool.com/mentorship   SIMPLIFY YOUR MEAL PLANNING https://littlebylittlehomeschool.com/meal       Website -  https://www.littlebylittlehomeschool.com Newsletter -  https://littlebylittlehomeschool.subscribemenow.com/ Community - https://www.facebook.com/groups/homeschoollifestylecommunity  Follow - https://www.instagram.com/littlebylittlehomeschool/ Connect - info@littlebylittlehomeschool.com   Listen to these related episodes: 34. We'd be lying if we didn't admit we've giggled over our guest's business name. It's actually downright brilliant. Equal parts funny and straight to the point.Jenn Lormand is bringing some fire today mixed with humor, hope, and healing. She's a published researcher, exercise physiologist, and author.  AND she's been living and thriving with Stage 2 prolapse for the last ten years. After being told an invasive surgery was her only hope following her third birth, Jenn was determined to create her own solution. Together with her Tighten Your Tinkler cofounder (PT + manual integrative therapist Christina Walsh), Jenn developed a new movement-based protocol that allowed her to reverse her pelvic floor symptoms. Before going online in 2019, Jenn and her business partner Christina helped hundreds of New Orleans women reduce and eliminate pelvic floor issues. The Journal of Women's Health Physical Therapy featured their research, confirming the effectiveness of their protocol at ending pee leaks, back pain, and painful sex – WITHOUT kegels or trendy internal vaginal devices. The Tinkler mission is to inspire hope and healing – helping women to heal holistically so they can show up fully present for their lives through at-home programs that are non-invasive and kegel-free.What is Prolapse and How to Recognize It (01:40)The First Step When You Recognize Prolapse or Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (05:45)Every Woman's Body Has a Unique Story (06:30)More detailed notes to come...For more from Tighten Your Tinkler... Renewed Mama - Kimberly Muhtar | Mom Life, Parenting Tips, Parenting Coach, Education, Homeschool

Do you pee when you sneeze?  Experience back pain, frequent UTIs, or have to get up in the middle of the night to pee?  Think you have a small bladder? Whether you experience one or all of these, they are all related to your pelvic floor health.   Some research shows that every year after the age of 35, women lose 2% of their pelvic floor muscle strength with aging and hormones.  If at 35, we're leaking, what will it be like at 65?   If you have had babies, rebuilding your pelvic floor health is so important. My special guest is Christina Walsh, a published researcher, a Physical Therapist, and the cofounder of Tighten Your Tinkler, is sharing how to rebuild our pelvic floor health.  Enjoy this episode, Mama, and share it with a friend.

I have a guest wisdom holder who is bringing a unique view of the pelvic floor and how the practice of grounding can be a powerful tool for pelvic floor function. My guest here is Jenn Lormand of the duo that is Tighten Your Tinkler, two women who are authors, researchers, and moms on a mission to help people live with functional pelvic floor health whether that's after having children or any other reason a person is living with an under-functioning pelvic floor. This conversation, as you will hear me say a few times in the recording, really sparked some interesting connections for me about the pelvic floor and the earth and our feet as she brings together the pelvis and grounding. And as I'm recording this intro, I'm realizing even more how timely this was as Jenn and I actually recorded this back in September, and a busy schedule has sadly, but necessarily put the podcast on hold for a time. Part of what has kept me busy is a month long course I've been doing that is all about assessing and activating the chain of our body that connects the foot to the pelvic floor and core with Dr. Courtney Conley of Gait Happens and Lauren Ohayen of Restore Your Core. So as I listened back to this recording with Jenn in getting it ready to publish I heard even more great wisdom in what she shares here. This wouldn't be a podcast about postpartum healing and recovery if we weren't including conversations about pelvic physical health. We'll continue advocating that EVERY WOMAN who gives birth needs pelvic PT! Today's episode will share exactly WHY that is, and more importantly, how anyone can access it through the revolutionary Tighten Your Tinkler online program. (See below for links!). In this episode, we're sharing: How to know that you can benefit from physical therapy and why you need to see a therapist that specializes in postpartum pelvic PT. Why the guidance typically given by conventional medicine practitioners to do 100 kegels a day is NOT what women need to regain their pelvic health. The connection between pelvic health and emotional well-being and why every mother should make her pelvic health a priority, regardless of whether or not she's had a "traumatic" birth experience. Christina Walsh is a Physical Therapist & New Orleans mama of 2. Known together as the “Tinkler Ladies”, Christina and her business partner Jenn Lormand have a combined 36 years of experience supporting women through pelvic floor problems, prolapse, diastasis recti, and more. The Journal of Women's Health Physical Therapy featured their holistic protocol that helps women mitigate symptoms (think no more pee leaks, back pain, or painful sex) WITHOUT kegels or internal vaginal devices. Today, the Tinkler ladies are on a mission to help women feel empowered and hopeful in their healing journeys.Access the Tighten Your Tinkler Resources: Tighten Your Tinkler®️ Signature Program: https://www.tightenyourtinkler.com/signatureprogram (use code MARANDA for $50 off!) IG: @tighten.your.tinklerYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@tightenyourtinklerFREE 90/90 Decompression Position (to relax back, hips, pelvic floor, and nervous system):  https://www.tightenyourtinkler.com/backandhipreliefFREE 5-minute Root Cause Quiz: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6C9SJ36Come hang out with us on Instagram!Feeling inspired and ready to learn more about how you can actively revolutionize postpartum care? Do you love exercise? Do you hate exercise? Today we're talking about what a healthy relationship with exercise looks like and what a healthy theology of exercise is. What does the Bible say about exercise explicitly, and what can we extrapolate about exercise from the ways God designed our bodies? Here are some things we dig into in today's episode: Does God command us to exercise? Did he design our bodies to move? How can we apply grace to our views of exercise? How can we think about exercise in a way that is healthy and holy according to the Bible? Are there other ways that we are moving our bodies naturally as a part of using our gifts? Can this "count" as exercise? If exercise is a triggering word for you, what would it look like to remove the word exercise from your vocabulary and just get moving in service of the Lord? How do we listen to our bodies around exercise instead of listening to guilt and shame that comes from culture's expectations around exercise? How do you know when your relationship with exercise has gone bad? Exercise Bulimia When exercise becomes an idol or your treasure When exercise becomes too important of a priority in your life or an idol What happens when God asks you to lay down a specific form of exercise Figuring out your motivation for exercise When you're working out too hard and overexercising When exercise is stressing you out too much in already stressful seasons If exercise is an addiction or a problem: Ask why you are working out so hard. Thinking about body kindness as it relates to exercise. Here's the pelvic floor program, Tighten Your Tinkler, I mentioned in today's show that I talked about last Fall on the show. Check out Jimmy Pena's testimony at prayfit.org . What does the Bible really say about the importance of physical exercise? Sometimes after baby your “O” can stand for ouch! Yes, today we're talking about sex after baby. For many pelvic floor dysfunction turns what was once a pleasurable part of life into something painful. This pain doesn't have to be permanent though and with the help of a PT you can have a better quality of life.  On today's episode of Yoga| Birth | Babies I speak with Christina Walsh a physical therapist specializing in integrative manual therapy and co-creator of Tighten Your Tinkler to take a very deep dive (pun intended) into the pelvic floor. If you've been listening to the podcast you might be surprised that we're talking about “tightening” the tinkler because you've likely heard me rant against over tightening. However, Christina beautifully talks about the balance needed for a strong pelvic floor and what she means when she says “tighten.” Christina and I talk about what new parents should expect when it comes to sex after baby, solutions for painful sex, kegels (how they might contribute to pelvic floor dysfunction) and a variety of ways to address dysfunction. She's a New Orleans mama of two who lived with pelvic floor issues herself. She supports postpartum women holistically through prolapse, diastasis recti, and more. The program helps women solve pelvic floor issues without kegels or internal vaginal devices.     Tighten Your Tinkler:  Functional training from a need they experienced themselves  You can do it at home with your children!  Helps with incontinence, sleeping through the night without needing to pee, and painful sex    When You Resume Activity Postpartum:  Make sure you're cleared by your providers  If you're having extra drainage, your body is asking you to slow down  Pelvic floor pressure or heaviness, back pain, or leakage – tune back into your body, slow down, and work your way back into it more gently     Why Kegels Aren't Always the Answer:  You're only getting stronger in ONE position  Can cause over tightening  You don't need the pelvic floor to be a conscious muscle      Uneven terrain adds extra weight. When you ask more from your body, be gentle. You don't have to live with discomfort, AND also, go slow!    So much of pelvic floor function is linked to the nervous system. Ever heard the phrase "It's just not supposed to be this hard!" Maybe you've said it yourself.Well when it comes to your sanctification, it actually probably is supposed to be that hard. Holiness is hard, really hard. We're talking about how holiness is hard in relation to married life.A lot of the time engaged and married couples have a lack of understanding that marriage is for the other person and for sanctification, it's not for you and your happiness. The goal of marriage is to get you to human flourishing, but it's not through easy, it's through hard. When things start getting hard in your marriage, that's when you know you're actually on the right track. Here's some things that are hard in marriage, that actually aren't supposed to be easy:-NFP-Sex-Abstinence-Kids-Pregnancy-FinancesIn this episode we're going to be discussing that while life is hard, and holiness is through hardship, we're not just called to sit back and let the hard make us miserable. We should be actively engaging in the hardness and asking ourselves: how can I grow in holiness in this time? In this episode we are talking about scheduling sex--pros and cons, when it works and when it doesn't.Scheduling sex is a tool in the arsenal of ways to improve your sexual relationship. But here's the thing, scheduling does not work for every couple. Maybe it works for both of you, neither of you, or maybe it works for one spouse and not the other. For example,Here's a pro for scheduling sex: We give priority to things that are on the schedule. Are you prioritizing sex? If scheduling sex allows you to anticipate it, then scheduling might work great for you!But here's an example on the other side: sometimes life is unpredictable. Flexibility is so important; you need to have that flexibility. When scheduling sex becomes a pressure to have sex even if you have a really hard day, it could set you up for disappointment and duty sex (which is never a good thing). When it comes to scheduling sex, it's not going to work for everybody. There are a lot of different ways to go about scheduling sex and that's what we're talking about in this week's episode. Anticipatory is more emotional in nature, but can still be physical.Escalatory Foreplay is things that lead to arousal and then sex. Escalatory is more physical in nature, but can still be emotional.Anticipatory Foreplay can last a day or two or a week. This is part one of a two part interview with one of our favorite non-diet dietitians and eating disorder specialists, Amy Carlson. Amy and Heather tackle the topics of good foods and bad foods from a biblical perspective. They dig into Romans 14 where Paul addresses the distinctions the believers in Rome have in the ways they eat and what they abstain from eating. Amy and Heather break down applications from this passage to our modern day food rules and labels. You will be amazed at how much scripture has to say about what we can eat and how we can make the most God-honoring choices around food. Do you struggle not to think in terms of "good foods" or "bad foods"? Modern food rules are man-made rules, based on scientific "truths" that are constantly changing or being disproven. Only God's Truth remains the same. As we consider how to best care for our bodies, remembering that God's Truth reigns supreme gives us the freedom to make wise choices based on how God created us, not what diet fad seems to be "working" for people we know. Heather and Amy break down what God says about our eating versus what culture calls good and bad foods today! This is part two of a two part interview with one of our favorite non-diet dietitians and eating disorder specialists, Amy Carlson. Today, Amy and Heather look at Romans 14 and what God has to say about food rules. In the passage, Paul breaks down how some of the Christian Jews still feel obligated to follow Jewish food rules. He also talks about how we can, in the most loving way possible, interact with people who keep food rules and how to refrain from judging or causing division among ourselves around food issues. There are many practical applications from this passage in Romans 14 for those of us who live in a culture where eating a certain way is also important to social status or can cause others to judge. Take a listen to the similarities and let us know what you think! Romans 14 is truly a passage where Christians can learn how to love each other well and take their focus off the good foods and bad foods to share the table Jesus sets before us. Lies We Believe: Self Love Solves It

Today's lie is a common one. We're constantly told by the culture that if we just loved ourselves more, we wouldn't struggle with body image issues. More self-love (or self-esteem) would free us from the pain of not liking ourselves. It's as if there is some magic switch that can flip, and suddenly, we love ourselves and don't hurt anymore. But it's just not true. Self love isn't an actual path to freedom. And, even if it were, it's not the path that aligns with the Gospel or scripture. Today Heather talks about how we all long to be free from the shame and insecurity we feel around our bodies. But, how loving ourselves is a path away from seeing our need for a Savior to cover our shame and is, instead, trying to cover our shame ourselves. If you've ever said, "I just need more self love" today's show is for you! We also look at 2 Corinthians 2 and talk about how Paul instructs the Corinthians not to compare themselves to themselves or to commend themselves. These are helpful instructions as we think about determining, for ourselves, that we are good enough. Scripture instructs us to find our value and our worth in Christ. Maybe perfect isn't what you're going for, but have you ever believed the lie that you needed to get BETTER before you could pursue something? Whether it was getting your body "better" before you volunteer at church or getting your house "better" before you sign up to host a Bible study, many of us have believed the lie that we'll be able to start walking in our God-given purpose as soon as we do a little self-perfecting. But look at the Bible. It's clear from scripture that God only uses imperfect people. That pressure to perfect ourselves or our homes or our children before we can start living on purpose for him, is just a lie. And, it's a lie that stops a lot of women from serving and feeling alive in the body God gave them because they are convinced it's not "good enough" yet to be used to serve God. It's just a lie. Today we tackle this lie. Why do we believe that becoming more perfect helps us find our purpose? Or that perfection or "better" has to precede us walking in our purpose? Who actually tells us this lie and keeps us stuck chasing it instead of walking in what we were created to do? It's not God! The lie I've believed is that I can control what others think of me. But it's just not true. When we're "off" the diet we feel out of control, so we try another diet or "health plan" so we can feel our sense of control restored. Today we tackle the truth behind why our eating patterns are disrupted by diets and overly controlling behaviors. We look a bit at the science as to why we feel like we can't be "trusted" around food or are "out of control" when we go off a diet. We also talk about how there is a way to eat and enjoy food and feel in control, without being on a specific food plan. Do you feel out of control with food when you're not on a diet? You're not alone. Guess what: It's not about Kegels!! This isn't your typical episode of Compared to Who? but today, I tackle this physical issue, how it relates to body image and relationship issues, and much more. You will be amazed at the connection! Jenn Lormand, an experienced exercise physiologist from Tighten Your Tinkler (silly name but serious results) joins me to talk about all the different ways having a weak pelvic floor may be affecting your life, your marriage, and your ability to feel comfortable and confident in your body. Here are some of the topics we explore today: *How you can feel broken when things "down there" aren't functioning like they should (or aren't reliable!) *How hip pain, back pain, neck pain, bunions and posture issues can all connect with a weak pelvic floor! *We define prolapse--a condition that affects many women and comes in numbered stages. *We discuss how women recovering or recovered from bulimia or over-exercising may especially feel the affects in their pelvic floor. *Jenn assures Heather that peeing when you cough, sneeze, or while exercising isn't a normal and necessary part of aging--and that there is a way to stop without surgery! *How the Tighten Your Tinkler signature program gets you safely exercising and working on strengthening your pelvic floor muscles! *We talk about how this is one set of muscles that no one sees--yet ignoring them could cause big problems for the rest of your body!
