It's another week of bad news for PlayStation, as PlayStation 5 -- as well as PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal -- are getting another fresh round of global price increases. While every previous gaming generation got progressively cheaper over time, our current gen is becoming substantially more expensive, and things are clearly starting to get to a breaking point. There's much to say. Also, more bad news: Newly-minted first party shooter studio Dark Outlaw Games has been unceremoniously shuttered after only a year. Such a move speaks yet again to the uneven leadership, tastemaking ability, and decision making at the top of PlayStation Studios, and begs the question how much bloodletting we need to see before anyone takes responsibility. If this sort of thing doesn't fall on Hermen Hulst's shoulders (an idea which doesn't really make any sense in and of itself), then who or what is responsible, and when will the poor stewardship of the brand's own games and studios finally cease? Plus: PlayStation cuts down on its years-long mobile gaming investments and initiatives, Sly 4 studio Sanzaru at one time readied a pitch for a Jak & Daxter remake, we nearly got a Breaking Bad game on PSVR, Epic Games lays off 1,000 employees, Pearl Abyss owns its AI mistakes in Crimson Desert, Microsoft Flight Simulator on PS5 gets PSVR2 support, Marathon sells a purported (and somewhat soft) 1.2 million copies, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! With Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth courting older gamers on average, is Final Fantasy officially finished with the younger generations? Are platform holders and publishers intentionally underpublishing physical copies of games to drive customers to digital storefronts? Do we believe the incessant rumors that Witcher 3 will get an expansion more than a decade after it first launched? Could Colin be the undisputed typing champion of Last Stand Media? Beat Saber is ending support for PlayStation platforms, and will only allow multiplayer and new DLC for the Steam and Meta Quest platforms going forward. ew recording platform, who dis’? Yeah, we’re all a bit excited over some of the new tech we have to produce the show, and we’re all trying to do everything we can to enjoy it while it’s still fresh and shiny in this latest episode of Press Pause Radio. This session is much more casual than the last few episodes as the cast tries to parse out the tumultuous news cycle that came to pass over the last two weeks. George, Ed, and Andrew are on the cans and take the time to discuss various layoffs and terminations seen from Electronic Arts, Polygon, and Giant Bomb (luckily, one of those unfortunate deals got some of the best news ever after the episode was long recorded and sent into production.) There’s also a quick recap of Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, and some thoughts on Grand Theft Auto VI getting delayed in 2026. Afterwards, the crew talks about the gamers they’ve been playing, like Rock Band Rivals, Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Division 2, Fantavision 202X, Promise Mascot Agency, Humanity, PSVR 2, Pokémon Brown Version 20th Anniversary Edition, Persona 3 Reload, and a shit ton more! We hope y’all enjoy the show because we’re gearing up for a whole lot more in the coming months! Mail us at our new email Mailbag@presspauseradio.com, leave a voicemail at 469-PPR-TALK, and be sure to stop by at our Forums if you haven’t already registered and post your thoughts about the show. Warner Bros gaming division continues delivering terrible news as of late, and this week was perhaps the worst of them all, as the decision was made to close down three of its studios, Player First studios, and WB San Diego, both leading and helping on the soon-to-be delisted Multiversus. They also continued by announcing the cancellation of the recently rebooted Wonder Woman game, and with it came the shutdown of Monolith Productions. Who's to blame? And where does the bleeding end for the AAA gaming space? Microsoft also made a much quieter announcement with the newest head of Xbox, Craig Duncan, stating that the highly anticipated Fable reboot would now release in 2026, effectively delaying the game completely out of this year. Although no particular reason was given, many speculations lay ahead, is this the right time to delay the game? Or could there be something concerning afoot? Speaking of Microsoft, Sean finally got some hands on time with Avowed and he also talks about beating Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, while Marc beat Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes as well. Plus, Sony gives the PSVR 2 a price cut, Capcom makes a change at a high position, while Monster Hunter Wilds helps Steam break concurrent records. There's Pokemon announcements, and much more!* We will be off for two weeks because of Sean's trip to Puerto Rico. So we won't have an episode March 10 or March 17. We will make up for that with at least one episode (if not two) on Saturday 03/22 depending on how much has happened since then. Then go back to regular programming on Monday 03/24. * ou can also watch this episode in video form on the W2M Network Youtube Channel, please give us a like, comment on the episode, and give the channel a subscribe and follow as well: https://youtube.com/live/5vNL7OER1IQListen as a podcast and give us a review on these platforms... Good news emanates from South Korea, where developer Shift Up announced that PS5-exclusive release Stellar Blade has surpassed a million copies sold. To the rational thinking person, this is obviously a great accomplishment for a niche and provocative release on a single platform, and yet there are know-nothings debating its success. Thus, we correct the incorrect while also talking about Stellar Blade's future, including DLC, a PC port, and -- ultimately! -- a sequel. Other news this week includes details for Concord's upcoming closed and open betas, the surprising return of Capcom zombie-killing classic Dead Rising, fresh PSone-era collections for the likes of Fear Effect and Fighting Force, percolating rumors about PlayStation 3 emulation finally coming to PS4 and PS5, and much more. As always, we wrap things up with inquiries from you, the audience. What do we think about a Guerrilla producer's desire to get Aloy in Smash Bros? Is poor media literacy stopping gaming from reaching its true potential? Which random PlayStation 2 games would we like to see ported to modern hardware? If we could go back to the 17th century and permanently scar a peasant child with a video game experience, which one would we choose?
