Denis Diderot, radikální osvícenec 18. století, odhodil staré sako, které nosil celý život. Netušil, jak převratná událost to bude. V novém saku si připadal skvěle – a zároveň nepatřičně. Z historického hlediska to není žádná novinka. KapitolyI. Hey humans! Today, we're tackling a topic that's not just a trend for 2025, but a timeless essential: integrity. My guest, Bri Morsa and I defined integrity and its key aspects: honesty, accountability, consistency, and moral courage. We also explore workplace statistics highlighting the impact of integrity on reporting misconduct, employee turnover, and leadership trust. Integrity is a cornerstone of a healthy work environment. Bri and I had a great conversation about how integrity shows up in our lives and why it's so crucial for organizations. We discussed the challenges of maintaining integrity when faced with pressure and the importance of self-reflection in fostering a culture of trust. We also touched upon the work of Rachel Botsman, an expert on trust, who emphasizes integrity as a critical component of trust. She defines trust as a confident relationship with the unknown, and I couldn't agree more. Integrity fosters this confidence by signaling that a person or organization will act ethically and consistently, even in unpredictable situations. As leaders, we have a greater responsibility to show up with integrity and create safe spaces for others to do the same. It's an ongoing journey that requires self-awareness, vulnerability, and a commitment to doing what's right, even when it's hard. We also discussed the challenges of hiring for integrity and how to assess it in ourselves and others. It's not always easy, but it's essential for building strong teams and relationships. She's written three books: What's Mine is Yours, Who Can You Trust, and How to Trust and Be Trusted. Demonstrate the ability to take risks. Confidence in the unknown. Healthy challenge and push mentality. Trust willing – Lead with Trust. Make the trust wager. What's the best way to earn someone's trust? LEAD with trust. Trust them first. This also creates a highly attractive company or team. Don't you want to attract highly trusting, capable people? The best way to do that is to lead with trust. Be more trust willing. Lead with Trust. Jim Collins story. Make the trust wager. You don't have to earn it, you got it. Willingness to be a beginner. Be curious. Look stupid at first. Those are good qualities in a leader. For keynote speaking: Share your expertise, but don't seek approval Share your stories, but don't look for validation Share your passion, but don't perform for the applause Don't sell from the stage. Don't show your book. Don't give your resume. Honor the present. If you're running a meeting, start it on time. Honor the people who showed up on time. Leaders who are overscheduled… It's usually their fault and it comes from ego. If you've hired a capable team, then you don't have to be in every meeting. Also, if you're always late, you aren't reliable. And that becomes part of your reputation. That's not something we want to be known for. How can people trust you if you're always late? They won't. You aren't reliable if you're always late. Reliability is a big part of your reputation. It can become the thing you're known for. That's bad. The power of consistency: Intensity makes a good story. Consistency makes progress. Consistency builds trust. Leaders who are overscheduled have a problem they've created for themselves. It's usually from ego. Interviewing leaders for jobs. High character is a must. We can teach capabilities later.  Paul Simon's audiobook with Pushkin is awesome. Rachel's five principles for trust: Competence: Having the skills, knowledge, time, and resources to do what you say you'll do  Reliability: Being dependable and consistent in your actions  Integrity: Being honest about your intentions and motives, and ensuring your words and actions align  Empathy: Caring about others' interests and how your actions affect them  Consistent action: Earning trust through how you show up, set expectations, and deliver acts of caring Life/Career Advice: Don't get boxed in too early and grow a career based on being able to tell people at parties that you work at a prestigious company.  Look for great teams and great bosses. The industry doesn't matter as much as the people. Culture is everything. People are everything. And then when you're younger it's helpful to be a generalist. Know a little about a lot of things. But as you get older, it's useful to become a specialist at something. Become an expert. Go deep on a topic. This is similar to what Mike Maples Jr said on episode #619.

If you and your partner are navigating the challenging journey of affair recovery, understanding how to rebuild trust after infidelity is crucial. In this episode, we delve into the intricate process of earning back trust that has been lost in a relationship. Join us as we explore the evolution of the concepts of blind trust versus open-eyed trust, drawing from experiences working with couples healing from infidelity. Our discussion takes a unique turn as we question the commonly used term "rebuilding trust" and introduce a more nuanced perspective inspired by an enlightening article by trust expert Rachel Botsman. To shed light on this profound shift in perspective, we are joined by Dr. Yael Haklai-Neagu, one of our lead therapists at Relationship Experts. Together, we unravel the differences between rebuilding and earning trust in the aftermath of infidelity. We draw insights from Botsman's groundbreaking ideas, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in the trust dynamic. Dr. Yael shares her thoughts on the critical roles of the Trust Giver (the hurt partner) and the Trust Receiver (the unfaithful partner) in the healing process. The discussion extends to the obstacles that can hinder trust-building, such as entitlement and unyielding rejection. We explore the delicate balance required from both partners, acknowledging the collaborative effort needed for genuine healing. Central to our conversation is the distinction between trust as a belief and trust as behavior. We explore actionable tips on how the unfaithful partner can act in trustworthy ways, including transparency, accountability, and consistency. The episode concludes with practical do's and don'ts for couples seeking to earn trust after infidelity, emphasizing the importance of allowing trust to be earned and acting in consistent, intentional, and trustworthy ways. Whether you're in the midst of affair recovery or seeking insights into trust dynamics, this episode provides valuable guidance on the journey to rebuilding and earning trust. Join us as we navigate the complexities of trust in the aftermath of infidelity and offer practical steps for couples looking to heal and move forward. You meet a new colleague for the first time, and… something clicks! You trust them, but you don't know why. Then, on another day, you're teamed with someone you've known and worked with for a while but a barrier stands in the way. That's the enigma of trust. It isn't merely about familiarity. It's about something more elusive - an intangible connection that either binds or separates us. In the workplace, trust certainly isn't a nice to have; it's vital for working relationships to thrive. It can elevate a team to excellence, speed things up, and create an environment where innovation and creativity flourish. Conversely, a lack of trust can become a stumbling block, slowing progress to a crawl, stifling ideas, and fostering a climate of doubt and uncertainty. Given the importance of trust, we wanted to understand it better and so we invited one of the world's leading trust experts, Rachel Botsman, a professor at Oxford University. Have you ever done a trust fall? The strong hands of your team catch you and support you, and in that moment, years of resentment, dissatisfaction with the underlying power structures, and petty politics are washed away; we are all together, united! At the heart of this version of trust-building, there is certainty. I know what's going to happen. I can trust the future.  I've just finished reading Margaret Heffernan's wonderful book, Uncharted, and there, she makes the compelling case for the opposite. Navigating the future requires comfort in uncertainty, ambiguity and big dreams, she posits. So what's the role of confidence in this? Is vulnerability an anathema to confidence, or actually paradoxically foundational to it?  Rachel Botsman joins me today for an insightful conversation about her experience with the exploration of trust. She has many titles: an author who writes about trust, a lecturer at Oxford University, and a well-regarded keynote speaker. It's a great pleasure to welcome back Gillian Tett, who chairs the Editorial Board in the US for the Financial Times. She has a regular column at FT, writing about finance, business and the political economy. Gillian's work is all about looking at the world through different lenses, and moving from tunnel vision to lateral vision. It's about leveraging diversity, embracing the unknown, and learning from others in non-related fields, cultures, and geographies.  In this interview, we talk about her new book, "Anthro-Vision: A New Way to See in Business and Life," and we cover a lot of topics from an anthropological perspective. We also talk about controversial topics like Bitcoin and Trumpism, as well as more enduring issues like leadership, and what that looks like in this VUCA world that we live in. So whether you're a business leader, a policy maker, an investor, or even just a parent worrying about how your kids appear to be over-reliant on technology, I hope you will find this conversation as fascinating and inspirational as I did.  What Is Covered: - The three principles of the anthropology mindset and what being an anthropologist means in the corporate world - How the concept of barter and social silences plays out in the world of AgTech and “free” services - Why teenagers are glued to their cell phones and what kind of needs in physical space the cyberspace is fulfilling - The concept of fast and slow money, and people's behaviours around money  - Understanding Trumpism from an anthropological perspective - How Bitcoin and cryptocurrency tribes are changing the economy and the power structures   Key Takeaways and Learnings:  - Barter trade terms in the world of AgTech need to be reset to make it more equitable, giving a lot more transparency to consumers, giving consumers more control over the duration of the trade, and creating data portability. - The four skills that anthropology can offer to any leader are the ability to have empathy for difference, to flip the lens and look back at yourself with a sense of humility, the ability to look outside the model, and to recognize that we need to think about people's human behavior and how culture matters.  - Cultural phenomena like Balinese cockfighting rituals are a good way to make sense of Trumpism, and of what's happening with Elon Musk and Bitcoin in terms of defining tribal groups, the role of rituals and symbols, and the role the emotions play Links and Resources Mentioned in This Episode:  - “Anthro-Vision: A New Way to See in Business and Life” by Gillian Tett https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Anthro-Vision/Gillian-Tett/9781982140960  - Connect with Gillian Tett on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/gillian-tett/  and Twitter https://twitter.com/gilliantett  - Data & Society https://datasociety.net/  - ReD Associates https://www.redassociates.com/  - “The Interpretation of Cultures” by Clifford Geertz https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0465097197/  - Why Anthropologists are More Interested in Bitcoin Than Economists, by Mick Morucci https://bitcoinmagazine.com/culture/anthropologists-are-interested-in-bitcoin  - “Who Can You Trust” by Rachel Botsman https://rachelbotsman.com/books/  - The Conversation https://theconversation.com/global  - Colliding with the Unexpected with Gillian Tett on OutsideVoices Podcast https://outsidelens.com/colliding-with-the-unexpected-with-gillian-tett/  Connect with Mark Bidwell: - LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/markbidwell/  - Twitter https://twitter.com/markehb

In episode 8, we will pivot from the first 25 years to the next 25 years of e-commerce. We will discuss challenges to the credibility of content (e.g. fake reviews), and highlight several fundamental tensions – the tension between the benefits of curation and the risks of personalization, the tension between being watched and ignored in privacy, the tension between the convenience of fast delivery and cost to the environment, and the tension between efficiency in shopping and doing away of human interactions. All of these questions must be wrestled with in order to safeguard and elevate trust and trustworthiness in e-commerce in the future.   You'll hear from Vint Cerf (Chief Internet Evangelist at Google; one of the founding fathers of the Internet), Christine Varney (Former Federal Trade Commissioner), Tim O'Reilly (Founder of O'Reilly Media), Pierre Poignant (Co-Founder and CEO of Lazada), Sebastian Klauke (President of Otto Group in Germany), Amy Webb (Founder of the Future Today Institute), Jonathan Nelson (CEO of Organic), Chris Maguire (Cofounder of Etsy), Bob Glushko (XML pioneer; Professor at UC Berkeley), Jane Winn (Professor at University of Washington School of Law), Don MacKenzie (Professor, Sustainable Transportation Lab at University of Washington), and Rachel Botsman (researcher on trust).
