One of these was the updated experience coming next year to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run. The new adventure will feature the Mandalorian and Grogu, better known as “the child” from the hit Disney+ series. This new experience will take guests to new locations for the attraction, like Cloud City, Tatooine, and the Death Star wreckage. It comes with a side of Cuties mandarin oranges or filmstrip fries. September 1st will be the last day to catch both of these classic entertainment options. World of Color and Fantasmic! will continue on their regular schedules. Halloween Time starts at the resort September 2nd, so this is making way for the Halloween Screams fireworks. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/07/catch-disneyland-forever-fireworks-main-street-electrical-parade-before-their-limited-time-runs-end-sept-1/ Ticket prices could be going up soon for Disneyland, but not because of Disney. A proposed ordinance by the Anaheim City Council would add a 2% admissions tax to all tickets sold to any venue that holds 15,000 or more people. This would add $2 to $4 to each ticket for a one-day, one-park ticket, depending on the season. If approved by the council, it would be on the ballot for voters in November. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/07/15/why-your-disneyland-ticket-could-cost-more-soon/ On Disneyland's 67th birthday, the Red Car Trolley returned to Buena Vista Street! Shortly after it opened, it broke down for part of the day, before returning to service later in the day. There is only one of the trolleys running for now, the second trolley is not ready for use at this time. The Red Car Trolley will be brought on stage before park opening and will make trips back and fourth to Hollywoodland, never entering Avengers Campus or going backstage when the park is open. – https://www.micechat.com/327280-disneyland-update-67-years-of-magic-looking-forward-and-crossing-fingers/ There is a disturbance in the timeline in Star Wars Galaxies Edge. For the first time since the land opened, two different stories with two different time frames will be happening at once. Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, along with Grogu and the Mandalorian are now seen walking around the land, with characters from the sequel trilogy also present. How does Disney deal with this time bending? Imagineering is using “story bubbles.” Basically, as long as the stories unfold to guests and don't interact with each other, it is good. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/07/13/how-disneyland-keeps-boba-fett-from-bumping-into-kylo-ren-in-galaxys-edge-and-why-it-matters/ The Downtown Disney Silletas have a new addition that helps provide some context! New signage and a QR code at each of the displays now inform guests what the display is and what it represents. Previously, it was unclear what some of the displays were about. – https://www.micechat.com/327280-disneyland-update-67-years-of-magic-looking-forward-and-crossing-fingers/ Dole Whip fans mark your calendars! July 21st is Dole Whip Day! Dole Whips are available all around the world at Disney parks and resorts. Aulani, Disney Cruise Line, and Domestic Disney parks on both coasts are great locations to get the frosty treat. The Dole Whip debuted at the Magic Kingdom in Florida back in 1984. The Disney Parks blog has a recipe for guests to create the iconic treat at home. Visit the link in the show notes to make one at home! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/07/snack-and-listen-celebrate-dole-whip-day-with-recipe-ukulele-styled-disney-music/ Two iconic attractions are getting some new merchandise. A new pair of Haunted Mansion ears, featuring a bow with the purple wallpaper print, a black top hat with HM monogramed on the side, and the striped pattern from the cast member costumes on the ears, with some neon green bats. The Haunted Mansion is embroidered on the band on one side. The wars are on sale at the Pieces of Eight shop for $29.99. Not to be outdone, a new Loungefly backpack with Pirates of the Caribbean is also for sale. The backpack is white leather, featuring the iconic jail cell scene with the pirates attempting to get the keys from the dog. Guests can get one of these for $75. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/07/16/wait-until-you-see-disneys-new-haunted-mansion-ears/ Some Weeklyteers listening might have wondered what it would be like to have a corn dog for breakfast. Wonder no more! The breakfast corn dog is available for $9.29 at Corn Dog Castle in Disney California Adventure. It is a breakfast sausage and egg corn dog, topped with powdered sugar and raspberry jelly, and is served with a Mandarin orange, Cuties, or a small bag of chips. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/07/review-start-your-day-off-right-with-a-breakfast-corn-dog-at-disney-california-adventure/ The Disney Food Blog wanted everyone making plans to visit Disneyland, or anywhere in Southern California years in advance to take some information into account before booking anything. Fantasmic! debuted on May 13, 1992 at Disneyland. Over the years, the show has added and subtracted different scenes and elements. Some of those include the 2009 upgrade to digital projection and the current 45-foot tall dragon, known as Murphy! In 2017, new scenes and songs were added including Aladdin. The show has been performed more than 11,000 times since its debut. Yet another character from the Marvel universe will be on site to visit with guests. Ms. Marvel, the title character from the upcoming Disney+ show should be in the land around the time the show premieres on June 8th. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/14/another-new-character-is-coming-to-avengers-campus-at-disneyland-resort/ Next month, Celebrate Soulfully is returning in honor of Black Music Month. The Philly Phonics a cappella group will be performing on the stage in front of Carthay Circle, where the Five and Dime also perform. A love for trains played such a key role in Walt Disney's life and the creation of Disneyland in 1955. It's no surprise that a similar passion continues to inspire designers that have worked for Walt Disney Imagineering. A perfect example is Ray Spencer, who brought that interest for railroads to his work at Disney.… Read more... The post 154. News: Avengers Campus finally opened to the public on Friday. The new area features Pym Test Kitchen, a unique take on different sized meals, Pym Testing Lab, a great place to get a cool beverage, Shwarma Palace, featuring the Avenger's favorite wraps, Terran Treats, with some sweet concoctions, two stores, WEB Suplliers, and Campus Supply Pod, a lot of area meet and greets, and two attractions, the existing Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, and the new WEB Slingers: A Spider-Man Attraction. We will talk more in-depth about this experiences as we go through the news. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/now-open-first-recruits-assemble-at-avengers-campus-at-disney-california-adventure-park/ and https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/cast-and-community-members-among-first-recruits-in-avengers-campus-at-disney-california-adventure-park/ Of course the hot ticket on Campus is the new WEB Slingers attraction. This is virtual queue only at the moment, with slots available at 7am and noon each day. There is no standby. Guests that were able to snag a place in the queue can bypass the line to enter Avengers Campus and head in to board the attraction. Reviews are mixed and described the ride as a different version of Toy Story: Midway Mania. Riders use their hands to “shoot webs” at the different objects in the attraction to get a score and help Spider-Man save the Campus from the Spider-Bots, which have gone out of control. – https://www.micechat.com/292046-how-to-score-a-boarding-group-for-web-slingers-a-spider-man-adventure/ Pym's Test Kitchen has been pretty well reviewed. Mobile ordering is the primary way to get food at this, and all the other dining locations in Avengers Campus, and has been less than ideal. On opening day, guests could order food when not in the land and could sometimes be allowed in to get their food, while other times being denied access. Over the weekend, they changed the notification so guests had to order in the land only, in addition to adding the order windows throughout the day, instead of only in the morning. The food itself is getting good reviews. The Pym-ini sandwich is reported to taste like a meat-lovers pizza in a sandwich. The Not So Little Chicken Sandwich also got good reviews. For a complete review, check out our link in the show notes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/04/full-review-lunch-at-pym-test-kitchen-in-disneys-avengers-campus/ Over at Terran Treats, the two new items are on the menu. The Sweet Spiral Ration, which is a pineapple churro, wrapped into a swirl, and the Cosmic Cream Orb, which is a chocolate cream puff, filled with whipped raspberry cheesecake. The Ration tastes like a Dole Whip mixed with a Churro. The Orb tastes mostly of cheesecake, with a hint of raspberry. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/04/full-review-terran-treats-at-disneys-avengers-campus/ The Shawarma Palace features breakfast and daytime menus. For breakfast, there is the Impossible Breakfast Sha-warm-up, which features plant based breakfast sausage and egg omelet wrap, with a dairy free American cheese and crispy potato bites, served with maple syrup. The daytime options include the New York's Tastiest, which is a chicken shawarma wrap, with garlic spread, and a coconut yogurt-tahini sauce and pickled vegetables, and then there is the Impossible Victory Falafel, which is a plant based falafel and cauliflower wrap, garlic spread, hummus, and coconut yogurt-tahini sauce, with pickled vegetables. The Disney Food Blog said the Falafel was a little bland, but the Chicken Wrap was great. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/04/full-review-shawarma-palace-in-disneys-avengers-campus/ Pym Test Kitchen also serves breakfast from opening until 10:45am. Options include Calculated Breakfast, the Ever-expanding Cinna-Pym Toast, the Impossible Quantum Garden Breakfast, and the Spoonful of Cereal. Sides include smoked bacon, turkey bacon, potato bites, or a Cuties mandarin. The Cinna-Pym toast was reviewed well, but the other items were hit and miss. Check out the link in our show notes for the complete review. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/04/breakfast-review-pym-test-kitchen-at-disneys-avengers-campus/ More dining locations will be open for guests to enjoy! Disney announced that on June 17th, Oga's Cantina, Docking Bay 7, Rancho del Zocalo, The Tiki Juice Bar, and Alien Pizza Planet would be serving guests. Reservations will be available starting on June 14th for Oga's, Lamplight Lounge and Wine Country Trattoria. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/disneys-parks-foodie-news-announcing-new-openings-and-offerings-sebastians-bistro-ohana-wine-country-trattoria-lamplight-lounge-brunch-and-more/ Unlike Star Wars: Galaxys Edge, which was criticized for not having enough atmosphere when it came to sound or interactions in the land, Avengers Campus excels in this regard. Members of the Avengers are out performing around the campus in stunt shows, a practice session, some acrobatic maneuvers, and in a short Dr. Strange show in the Ancient Sanctum. Music from the series is also played throughout the area. – https://www.micechat.com/292046-how-to-score-a-boarding-group-for-web-slingers-a-spider-man-adventure/ For those of you who can't make it to the parks to visit Avengers Campus just yet, Walt Disney Imagineers have a solution! In their latest Disney Paper Parks release you can build all of Avengers Campus! The set also includes 13 Marvel characters to decorate the creation. Visit the link in our show notes to download. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/assemble-your-paper-disney-paper-parks-celebrates-the-grand-opening-of-avengers-campus-at-disney-california-adventure-park/ Great news for fans of the Disneyland Railroad! The trains are now running from opening to close at Disneyland, and are boarding at all the stations. For the first few weeks that Disneyland was open, staffing shortages resulted in the train only running until 2:30 in the afternoon, and loading at ToonTown station only. – https://www.micechat.com/293761-disneyland-update-happy-holidays-ahead/ In other attractions news, Cast Members for the Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes have been spotted training. This means that this attraction will return to operation soon. No date has been announced by Disney. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/06/photos-cast-members-training-for-reopening-of-davy-crocketts-explorer-canoes-at-disneyland/ As we mentioned previously, there has been a snack shortage at Disneyland in the last couple of weeks, resulting in churros, Mickey pretzels, and chimichangas being unavailable on some days. The good news is that the parks have started receiving orders again, and items are back in stock around the resort. The bread bowls that are famous at the resort have not returned yet, but are expected to as staffing ramps up and more locations reopen for guests. – https://www.micechat.com/293761-disneyland-update-happy-holidays-ahead/ MiceChat had a follow up on the Red Car Trolley charging location at the front of Disney California Adventure. With Avengers Campus at the end of the line, along with the barn for the trolleys, the current route has been modified. The trolley now only runs from the entrance to the park on Buena Vista Street to Hollywood Land and back, resulting in the need for the charging pad at the entrance station. – https://www.micechat.com/293761-disneyland-update-happy-holidays-ahead/ Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen has come up with another new beignet creation. This time, they are covered in Fruity Pebbles, with a blueberry lemon icing. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/03/fruity-pebble-beignets-at-disneyland-sign-us-up/ For those Weeeklyteers that liked The Imagineering Story on Disney+, a new series is coming in July that might interest you. Behind the Attraction will premiere on July 16th (the day that we arrive in Anaheim for our trip), and will have 10 parts. Each episode will cover the behind the scenes of creating an iconic Disney attraction. Topics include the Castles at the parks, the Jungle Cruise, “it's a small world”, the Haunted Mansion, and more. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/go-behind-the-attraction-in-a-new-original-series-coming-to-disney-on-july-16/ Discussion Topic: Devin from Disney Media Finance

News: This piece of news is strictly in the RUMOR category, but thought it was possibly exciting enough to at least mention on the show. There is a rumor, posted over at Disneyland News Today, that Main Street, USA is planning to open sometime in mid-March. This would be approximately a year since the park closed to guests on March 14th last year. If this is true, Main Street should be open to guests just like Buena Vista Street is currently. No word on how close guests will be able to get to Sleeping Beauty Castle, or what will be open. Keep an eye on our social media accounts for any update on this rumored story. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/02/rumor-main-street-u-s-a-at-disneyland-park-to-reopen-march-14th-exactly-one-year-after-the-park-closed/ With the closing of the resort last year, the Food and Wine Festival that was in progress never got to run it’s course. A new, limited ticketed event will allow Disneyland favorites from around the entire resort to be enjoyed once again. The rest of Disney California Adventure, minus all the attractions, will be accessible during this event, starting in mid-March. This event is also expected to bring 1,000 cast members back to work. No details on exact dates, ticket cost, or when the tickets will go on sale. – https://www.micechat.com/281918-breaking-news-food-festival-planned-for-disney-california-adventure/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/02/08/breaking-news-ticketed-food-event-inside-of-disney-california-adventure-coming-soon/ The theming of the new Star Wars Trading Post in Downtown Disney has been coming along with some new props. On the building itself, camouflage netting, communications dishes, and wiring have been added. In front of the new location, Rey’s speeder from Jakuu has been installed as a photo op. They may open more availability in the future, so keep an eye on the link in our show notes. – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/enchanting-extras-collection/booking-star-wars-trading-post/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/02/09/reservations-now-open-for-star-wars-passholder-event-at-disneyland-resort/ Exterior lighting has been in testing for Avenger’s Campus this week. The new lighting for the area can be seen by those guests who are inside Buena Vista Street after dark. The front of the Spider-Man attraction is lit up in blue, with the red section sporting a lit up WEB logo in white. Once the parks reopen, it shouldn’t be too long until guests can walk the pathways of this new area! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/02/04/photos-lights-are-on-at-avengers-campus-in-disneyland-resort/ With eating allowed at the resort again, there are a couple of new options for churros. Returning is the fluffernutter churro, which you may remember is a churro covered with peanut butter, marshmallows, and chocolate. A new option is the chocolate pineapple churro. The churro is covered in an oreo crumble, and drizzled with a pineapple glaze. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/02/06/churro-lovers-rejoice-fluffernutter-churros-have-returned-to-disneyland/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/02/08/review-are-the-chocolate-pineapple-churros-a-must-try-or-a-hard-pass-in-disneyland-resort/ Salt and Straw is bringing some flavors back out of their “vault” to Downtown Disney. The flavors are a salted caramel cupcake, Cinnatopia Cinnamon Bun, Strawberry Tres Leches, Brown Ale & Bacon, and Lemon Cheesecake Crumble. This is a prime location to be able to take a photo with the trolley! – https://www.micechat.com/281610-disneyland-update-hearts-sing-and-wishful-things/ The California Legislature is working on a bill which would allow theme parks in the state to open in an earlier tier than was previously announced. The bill calls for the removal of the limitation between small and large theme parks, resulting in all parks being treated the same. Governor Gavin Newsom would have to sign the bill, if passed and there is no indication that he would at this time. – https://www.micechat.com/281387-california-legislators-chart-course-for-earlier-theme-park-reopenings/ Chevrolet has teamed up with Walt Disney World to promote their newest electric car, the Chevy Bolt EUV. This time, it includes executive, salaried, and hourly workers. Ken Potrock, the President of the Disneyland Resort sent the letter to cast members explaining how difficult this decision is and they hope to get things open and cast members back to work as soon as possible. – https://www.ocregister.com/2020/11/09/disneyland-announces-additional-furloughs-as-state-guidelines-leave-theme-park-in-limbo/ The Orange County Register posed an interesting question to readers this week: would you be willing to take a rapid COVID-19 test to enter the theme parks? Universal Studios and Six Flags have asked this question in surveys to potential guests. They are trying to determine if a rapid test that could be completed in as little as 15 minutes would make potential guests feel safer in the parks, almost ruling out that any guest would have COVID-19 in the parks after the tests would be completed. – https://t.co/c0MGSWp9Me The face masks that Disney has been selling online and in the parks and shops have received a price increase from $6 each to $9.99 each. California, Here We Come!!!! – That’s what you hear headed down Buena Vista Street toward Carthay Circle at Disney’s California Adventure, multiple times a day. The News Boys are arriving on the Red Car Trolley with a copy of today’s late edition. Did you see that headline? “Walt Disney Arrives in Hollywood” “Mr Disney, he traveled west just a few bucks to his name. Along the way, he met Mickey Mouse, and the world will never be the same. He had a suitcase and a dream.” Ok, so that’s not exactly how it happened, but it does make for great show. Like the Five and Dime, the News Boys have been a part of Disney’s California Adventure since the re-dedication in June of 2012. With Carthay Circle Theater as the backdrop, the show drops us right into the 1920s, well 1923 to be exact, when a young Walt Disney arrived with his suitcase and a dream. The show’s theme fits perfectly into the 1920s influenced Buena Vista Street. The inspirational show is all about following your dream, with an original song, Suitcase and a Dream. With 1920s inspired classics, the show is a perfect distraction from the hustle and bustle of the park. Check your times guides and be sure to keep an eye out for Mickey himself, as he proves that he has what it takes to make it in Hollywoodland. This episode is the full version of “The Red Car Trolley News Boys” from Disney’s California Adventure – be sure to subscribe for all of the Episodes!

WEDway Radio - Walt Disney World and Disneyland Examined with some Disney History
In this episode of WEDway Radio Nate and Matt take a look at the Disney California Adventure refurbishment/expansion project and its progress from 2010 - 2011. When we originally looked at the project in 2009 construction walls were going up, and most of the project was either breaking ground or still on the drawing board. Some of the thematic changes were complete by 2010, like rethemeing the shops ofParadise Pier, changing the Sunwheel to Mickeys Funwheel, and retheming the Orange Stinger to the Silly Symphony Swings and the nighttime World of Color water show opened. Between 2010 and 2011, there were a few more additions and changes. Paradise Pier was completed, Goofy's Sky School opened as the rethemed Mulholland Madness nd the new entrance gates opened. On the show we discuss many of the changes for 2012 including the shops of Buena Vista Street, the Red Car Trolley, Carthay Circle Theater and the new Carsland themed area are scheduled to open. The Carolwood Foundation recently screened “The Great Locomotive Chase,” and Mousetalgia reports from the event, which also featured a panel discussion with Disney legend Bob Gurr, Michael Broggie (son of Disney legend Roger Broggie and Carolwood Chairman Emeritus), John Kimball (Disney animator and son of Disney Legend Ward Kimball), and Imagineer Ray Spencer (currently heading up the Red Car Trolley project at DCA). This elite panel discussed Fess Parker’s work in “The Great Locomotive Chase,” their current and past transporation projects at Disneyland, and more - including a fascinating comparison of WED's modus operandi vs. current practices at WDI. Also, Toy Story 3 – to CD, or not to CD? And World of Color – will it live up to the hype? SPECIAL NOTE; Meet the whole Mousetalgia crew this weekend, Saturday June 12, at Disneyland Park! Listen to the show for more details.
