Sandra Bridewell was a beguiling Dallas socialite in the seventies and early eighties. Her first husband was a prominent dentist who was found shot to death in their home in 1975. The medical examiner ruled his death a suicide. Her second husband, Robert Bridewell, developed the Mansion on Turtle Creek—the first property of Rosewood Hotels and Resorts. Shortly after Mr. Bridewell died of lymphoma in 1982, his treating doctor's wife was found shot to death in her car at Love Field a few hours after giving Sandra a ride to the airport. The medical examiner ruled the woman's death a suicide. Three years later, Sandra's third husband was found shot to death in his car in which he was last seen driving to meet her. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide and Sandra became the prime suspect but was never arrested. In 1987, Sandra was the subject of a D Magazine feature titled “The Black Widow” that suggested she had indeed murdered her third husband—as well as her first husband and the wife of the prominent cancer doctor who had treated Mr. Bridewell.Author John Leake grew up in Highland Park, down the street from Sandra Bridewell, and often visited her at her home to play with one of her children. He began his multi-year investigation in 2007, when Sandra was arrested for aggravated identity theft. Assuming the guise of a Christian missionary, she ingratiated herself with an elderly lady in Southport, North Carolina (near Cape Fear) to steal the unsuspecting victim's identity and to plunder her financial assets. Leake visited Bridewell in pretrial detention and began documenting her life and wanderings. He then investigated the three gunshot deaths reported in the D Magazine feature with the assistance of former Los Angeles County criminalist Lynne Herold and former FBI forensic psychologist, Gregg McCrary.Dallas police photos of the first two death scenes display physical evidence that they were not suicides, but murders that were staged to look like suicides. These murders bear striking similarities to the murder of Sandra Bridewell's third husband, and she was the last known contact of all three decedents. After serving two years in a federal penitentiary for aggravated identity theft, she was released in 2010 and now roams free. He then entered the world of hotels, studied at Les Roches University in Switzerland, and worked for Hilton, Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, JA Hotels and YTL Hotels. In 2014, at the age of 30 Peter sadly lost his father to cancer. Struggling to focus on the Hotel world he found himself presented with an opportunity in Acting and Modelling. He worked his way up in 2 years to acting in feature films including Hollywood productions alongside A-Lists Actors such as Brad Pitt & Marion Cotillard in Allied, Liam Neeson in The Commuter and The Transformers , The Last Knight all as an extra. Pépin #8 Le podcast qui distille la mixologie. Rencontre avec Xavier Thuizat (@xavierthuizat) chef sommelier et Yann Daniel (@yanndaniel), directeur de bar - Les Ambassadeurs - lieu de rencontre unique au sein de l'hôtel de Crillon (rosewoodhoteldecrillon). A force de l'évoquer à l'antenne, nous avons voulu percer le mystère d'un des bars de palace on ne peut plus parisien. L'expérience du bar Les Ambassadeurs c'est d'abord un savant mélange entre modernité et tradition un peu comme la ville de Paris. Puis l'on comprendra ensuite que l'art de recevoir y est pensé jusque dans les moindres détails. L'hôtel de Crillon est l'un des rares palaces parisiens où l'entrée se fait par le bar. La clientèle de passage ou non est donc invitée à entrer dans ce cercle très prisé qu'est Les Ambassadeurs afin de profiter d'un moment de dégustation unique… On y retrouve une carte de cocktail classique mais également une carte de cocktails signatures qui rend d'ailleurs hommage à Paris lors d'une ballade arty dans les différents quartiers de la ville. Enfin, dans cet épisode, Yann Daniel, directeur du bar Les Ambassadeurs (@barlesambassadeurs) tente de nous démontrer comment le groupe Rosewood (@rosewoodhotels) grâce aux nombreuses rénovations de l'hôtel de Crillon s'est efforcé de renouer le lien avec une cible épicurienne 100% parisienne. Il s'agit avant tout de se permettre de rêver le temps d'un cocktail unique, d'une conversation entre passionnés de liquides vertueux, ou d'un concert de jazz en live sublimant ce temps de partage. Xavier Thuizat en tant que chef sommelier nous déverse sans limite sa passion pour le vin, le champagne ou encore le saké. Il nous explique que l'adn d'un sommelier constitue également une véritable carte de visite. A exploiter volontiers lors d'accords mets boissons très particuliers par exemple. Rosewood Hotels & Resorts President Radha Arora is one of the most influential people in travel. He's also a true connoisseur of global cuisine, and in this episode, he speaks with Bruce about some of his favorite dining destinations and go-to spots worldwide.   Arora begins by giving us an insider's view on a place he practically considers home: Paris. Rather than the famed Michelin-star establishments, Arora's first stop in Paris is Le Bon Georges. At this small bistro, with its chalkboard menu and convivial atmosphere, the owners are equally as invested in the quality of their farm-to-table food as they are with making their guests feel like family. Arora also cites the more high-profile Parisian establishment, Girafe, as a favorite, if for no other reason than the views of the Eiffel Tower. Hopping over to Italy, in Bergamo, Arora recommends the Michelin three-star restaurant Da Vittorio. Despite its Michelin status, Da Vittorio is completely unpretentious, the kind of place where you might have an appetizer of mini-hot dogs that will be the best you've ever had. In Rome, he says the best paccheri pasta is at Trissola. Family owned since 1910, it's about as authentic a Roman restaurant experience as you can have. Arora also discusses a recent visit to Crete and coming across a typical Greek taverna called the Blue Door. He goes on to cover everything from the emerging culinary destination of Croatia to the complex multicultural mix that is Hong Kong's dining scene. Wherever he is, Arora believes a great restaurant isn't just about being served an amazing meal, it's about the relationships cultivated with the staff and owners. It's the entire experience that's important.   Arora applies that philosophy throughout the Rosewood portfolio, from Mayakoba in Mexico—led by the dynamic chef Juan Pablo Loza—to London, Paris, Hong Kong, and beyond. They now know what needs to be done, but how is not as certain. Julian Leaver's expertise is in applying practical techniques to the basic tasks laid out for most couples on their standard wedding checklist. Julian's background in the wedding world gives him the perfect tripod of experience. He worked for five years with Rosewood Hotels in catering and as an Area Director of Sales, cultivating a discerning eye for five-star service. He became known for his impeccable taste and attention to detail. It was also at Rosewood where he developed his affinity for a classic bow tie as his signature attire piece and earned the name, The Dapper Diplomat. In between tenures in luxury hospitality, Julian honed his wedding expertise as a luxury planner in the Dallas market. Joseph Aquino has more than 30 years of New York City real estate experience. No one knows the city better than Joe, who has assisted all of the top property owners and retailers during his long, illustrious career. Capitalizing on his many years of experience, Joe recently launched his own company and brand: Joseph Aquino Commercial Real Estate Services. Joe's specialties include; hotel, retail, office, showroom and industrial development projects. He has placed top retailers along Madison Avenue, in Soho, in the Meat Packing and Flatiron districts and in Nolita. Some of the tenants he has represented are Buccellati, Paul Shark, John Fluevog and Ports 1961. Career Highlights In 1992, Joe consulted for The 42nd Street Development Project, when Times was changing from the red light district into the family center it is known as today. He helped the state of New York create a retail use plan which described in detail all the wonderful things that could be done on the one block of 42nd street between 7th and 8th Avenues. He predicted the securing of tenants such as Disney, Madame Trussaud, and Blue Café, which turned out to be BB Kings. Joe also foresaw the corporate sponsorship of Broadway theaters that occurred when Ford Company stepped in to rebuild the Lyric Theater and American Airlines financed restoration of the Selwyn theater (American Airlines Theater). After reclamation and redevelopment of target properties in Times Square, crime decreased by 72% in the first year alone. Joe represented Amtrak for the retail level development at Penn Station. He also represented the financial district's business improvement association, The Downtown Alliance, where he assisted in the analysis for big box retail development. In addition, he has assisted in creating and designing retail use plans of numerous national brand hotels and casinos across the United States. Cartier Lease Renewal Joe was privileged to represent Cartier when the 75-year lease on its flagship mansion at Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street was up for renewal. When Joe arrived on the scene, landlord and tenant were not speaking because ten years earlier, Cartier had sued the property owner, The Onassis Foundation, in a dispute over building services. His assignment from Cartier was simple: “Get us in the good graces of the property owner and have them renew us or find us another location.” After six months of painstaking negotiations with the property owner in which Joe was instrumental, Cartier remained in its iconic location. Home in Manhattan, Connected Abroad Joe is a well know commodity in the New York City landscape, which he also calls home. With the creative energy and vision for which he is so well known, he brings a fresh approach to work and relationships in the city that never sleeps. Joe also travels extensively to bring back to Manhattan the best of European, Asian, South American, Mexican and Canadian brands and businesses. In fact, he recently launched a travel blog in which he shares with his audience news, information and insights from the many places he visits. Joe founded and leads the SBS Worldwide Group, a collaboration of top real estate professionals who live and work within their respective markets throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, South America and Canada. There are over 35 active cities represented in this group. The list of landlords Joe has worked with recounts the last 30 years of Manhattan real estate development history: Blackrock, Extell, Spitzer Enterprises, Hartz Mountain, Stahl Properties, Helmsley Organization, Coca Cola, Trump Organization, Tishman Speyer, Peninsula Hotels, Forest City Ratner, General Investment Development, CIM, Tahl Properties, Kensico Properties, Estate of Sol Goldman, Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, Taubman, Starwood Hotels, Westfield, Onassis Foundation and Minskoff. Running on Lombardy Time Joe often jokes that the day he arrives to a restaurant when it is packed, it will be time to quit the business. He runs on what he calls Lombardy Time, named for Coach Vince Lombardy of Green Bay Packers fame, who used to set his watch ten minutes fast so that he would be always arrive early to meetings. Joe explains, "It is important to always be ahead of the pack and in leasing you want to be the first to get to the space. There are no second or third places in leasing. There is only one place, and that place must be first if you're going to secure the space for your tenant.”
