2 Fast 2 Forever: The Fast and Furious Podcast

Jordan Polan-Clarke returns to the show to talk about Furious 7 (and the narrative complexity added to the franchise by this movie)! After talking about how a Star Wars-esque scroll could work to abbreviate this film's opening, we look this film up on RunPee and wonder what Deckard has against hospitals and emergency wards. Jordan shares her favorite frame in this movie and her favorite shot in any movie. We ask: are we qualified to judge a Vin Diesel lookalike contest? Does an open road help you think? Where is Mando? We lament the women in this franchise, wonder who rebuilt 1327, and think about how Deckard gets from scene to scene. We discuss who would be the worst boss in this movie, how Furious 7 shows off an unusual Letty/Brian pairing, and how many characters in this film got concussions. Is Vin Diesel TOO comfortable as Dom in this movie? We try to count. Email us: family@cageclub.me Visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever.  Show your support at the 2 Fast 2 Forever shop! Extra special shout-out to Alex Elonen, Nick Burris, Brian Rodriguez (High School Slumber Party), Michael McGahon, Lane Middleton, Jason Rainey, Wes Hampton, Mike Gallier, Josh Buckley (Whole Lotta Wolves), Michael Moser, Christian Larson, Terra New One, Aaron Woloszyn, and Randy Carter for joining at the “Interpol's Most Wanted” level or above! Rumor has it, the Wives of a Certain Age have told The Guys to “Go outside…and while you're out there, cook dinner.” Since that's where the grills are, that's okay. (If only it wasn't the dead of summer in the south.) To make sure everything is up to snuff, they brought in a grilling expert. Wes Shelton is not just a seller of all things involving outdoor kitchens, he knows how to use it all, and has a trophy or two to prove it. Robbie and Jay quiz Wes about his favorite tools for grilling and smoking, get tips on his favorite way to cook a steak, hear about the versatility of grill grates, and take note of common mistakes made by otherwise innocent outdoor cooks. Art joins them for Geeks of the Week with a toy that is guaranteed to sell at least 3 units - one for each Guy. The Rings of Robbie trailer is released and Jay takes the RunPee app to another level. Original broadcast date February 14, 2019. The original podcast post is here: https://pixelatedgeek.com/2019/02/binary-system-podcast-164-websites-that-help-you-watch-movies/ Technically this podcast is about websites that help you watch movies, but aside from the RunPee app (and what a glorious invention that is) it's mostly about sites that can give you a heads up about triggers in movies. Here at Binary System we've never been sure what to think of trigger warnings, but we're fascinated by websites that categorize movies by every potentially traumatizing thing you can think of: snakes, bugs, car crashes, clowns, damaged teeth; you name it, there's a site that can tell you if a movie has it. So this week we're going over some of our favorite finds (including the RunPee app, which counts if you think being super uncomfortable for the last twenty minutes of a movie is traumatic, which we do.) This week's outro music is a clip from W-ITEM GLITCH by Kanji Kinetic. (Fair warning: the song goes RIGHT off the rails after the clip we used, but we liked the beginning.) http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Kanji_Kinetic/Saishiken_EP/02_W-ITEM_GLITCH Correction the first: Elizabeth called doesthedogdie.com “crowdfunded.” She meant “crowdsourced.” Correction the second: Elizabeth would also like to apologize to Jesse Williams for forgetting he was in Cabin in the Woods. Obviously it's been way too long since she watched it. She's going to go fix that now...

Delayed Replay has finally covered a DreamWorks movie. My friend Kelsey Gitlin from the Just Two Lads Podcast (you may have heard the other lad Andres on this show) joined me for this momentous occasion. The movie is The Boss Baby: Family Business. How does it compare to the first film? What did we think of the voice actor change? What about the soundtrack overall? Is there enough heart for people to appreciate? Listen and find out! Show Notes: 12:15 - Tobey Maguire is turning 46 on June 27. 14:15 - E.G. Daily is the voice of Tommy Pickles, but Kelsey was referring to Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Chuckie Finster. Check out the masterclass video ad on YouTube. 16:30 - I neglected to mention that The Boss Baby, like Shrek, is loosely based on a picture book. It was written by Marla Frazee and published in 2010. 19:30 - It's called The Boss Baby: Get That Baby! It came out after season 3 and features the villains of those seasons. 21:00 - I could not figure out whether "First Baby," "First Son," or "First Daughter" are official titles. They certainly don't seem widely used. Apparently there are two unrelated films titled First Daughter from 1999 and 2004. 21:40 - Chandler Bing from Friends works in statistical analysis and data reconfiguration. 26:00 - The Boss Baby might take place in the late 1970s. Given the music used in the sequel, it is possible that Family Business may have anachronisms depending on when it's supposed to take place. 26:20 - Here's a post about The Incredibles being set in the 1960s at Oh My Disney. 30:45 - The original The Lion King was rated G, whereas the remake was rated PG. 32:00 - The app is RunPee, and it seems to still be available. 32:30 - What's After The Credits? 35:05 - Check out the Black Widow episode of Delayed Replay. 35:20 - Check out Improv Revolution. 48:45 - I think there are actually about 40 Kidz Bop albums. 49:55 - Chris Klemens' YouTube channel 50:10 - Chris Klemens' Spotify playlist is titled Now That's What I Call Vibezz. 2:55 Spencer ToycenHey there, Sean! In 2012, The Avengers blew up and ignited a love I had for Marvel that had been dormant for a while. That film was the start of something new and I think everyone knew that. That same year I started listening to you and Paul on Modern Myth Media. For me, it's no coincidence these both happened on the same year. This journey, for me anyway, started with you guys and your discussions/speculation. You guys became just as routine as waiting for the after credits scene. So I ask, what's been your favorite part of the journey so far? And has it hit you yet? Because I'm stressing over Endgame. Thanks and have an amazing weekend!11:07 Hector Giovanni NavarreteHey Sean don't really have a specific question this week. Just wanted to wish you a great AE viewing experience! It has been a long journey, and I hope you enjoy it! Who, if anyone, do you hope to bump into from the MCU? Also, what feelings do you have now that you are so close to watching the end of the Infinity Saga? Lastly, to celebrate this momentous occasion have you decided on a celebratory meal before/after the movie? Lol. Thanks Sean!16:15 Tom DeMicheleHey Sean! Since this is the last Q&A before you see Avengers: Endgame, I figured it would be appropriate to ask this question. What would you say is the overall theme or message of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far? The individual films masterfully inspect a variety of specific themes, but if you had to boil the whole franchise down to one central idea, what would it be? As a culmination film, how do you think Endgame will embody this theme? Thanks as always for all the content throughout this journey, and have a great weekend!20:08 AlexWhat's your thoughts on the final Dark Phoenix trailer?  Does it move the needle for you  or it does it not  change your anticipation  level one way or another since as you've  said before the movie is a lame duck?  20:57 Robert KlauserWhat's up Sean? I know it's probably a forgone conclusion, but I hope you have a great time watching Endgame. Will you be able to post a non spoiler review or your thoughts on twitter or the Discord right after seeing the movie?22:14 AlexThe early tracking for Dark Phoenix isn't looking very good. According to the Box Office Pro the movie is tracking to make a opening weekend debut between 45-55 million which will mark the lowest opening weekend for the franchise ever.   In fact its even expected to open second after Secret Life Of Pets   which have a opening weekend of between  70-90 million. If this does come to pass would this be  the first main X-movie to not open at number 1 at the domestic box office?  Would Disney see that as a disappointment and regret not shelving the film?25:46 AlexSean, do you  know anyone in your circle of friends or in your family that's even remotely pumped  for Dark Phoenix?26:09 AlexWould 2019 be known as the year of endings in relation to long-running blockbuster franchises:  The Fox X-Men franchise is set to conclude its  20 year history with Dark Phoenix being the last installment in the Fox-era   and the MCU is set to conclude an era that started with 2008 with Endgame being the finale to over eleven years of storytelling and last but not least Rise Of Skywalker has been said to be the finale of sorts to over 42 years of Star Wars wrapping up the Skywalker saga.   Do you think its a bit coincidental that all these are coming out the same year? Granted in the case of Dark Phoenix it was never really made to be an ending from the start since it was written and shot before the Fox-Disney deal was  thing but I do find it a bit  funny that all these movies are coming out in the same year.27:51 Paul ShearmanHey Sean and everyone, hope everyone is doing well and is spoiler free!! I haven't really got a question this week, but I couldn't let the last Q&A pass before we see Endgame without acknowledging that we are now so close to the end of a journey that began 11 years and 21 movies ago.  Actually, it does beg a question: is your excitement for the movie more reflective of the journey we've had coming to an end, or is it just flat out excitement for this film only, now that we're a week away (at time of posting) from the ending of this era of the MCU?Thanks as always for your time, and for all patrons, I hope you enjoy the final last part of the countdown, and #dontspoiltheendgame29:40 Alex WardDo you think that in Endgame, the surviving Avengers, especially Tony, will acknowledge the fact that Dr. Strange gave Thanos the time stone? Do you think they are frustrated or even angry that he did that, or do you think they have assumed he had a good reason? 31:38 Woo S! KimI was talking about this with someone on April 18th could you see The Starjammers in a Guardians of The Galaxy film before an X-Men film, perhaps see Christopher Summers for those who don't know  Cyclops father?  Related to this do you think The Starjammers could be rivals to The Ravagers that True Believers saw in the mid credit scene of “Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 2?”  Or even whatever version of The Guardians of The Galaxy that will be post “Avengers: Endgame.”33:15 Alex WardI'm not sure if Tim Callahan is on discord but this message can apply to everyone: There's an app called "RunPee" that tells you good times to take a quick break. It can be mildly spoilery but it kinda has to be. The app is a little quirky but it works.Speaking of the movie theater experience, just for fun, what snacks are you planning on having during Endgame, and at what point in the 3-hour movie are you planning to start/stop drinking your drink?35:07 AlexDo you think Star Wars alumni Oscar Isaac and Daisy Ridley would make a good Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman respectively? And do you think John Boyega would make a good Thing  or do you think race-swapping  a ethinically Jewish character is not a good idea?38:06 David RosenHey Sean and Fellow Patrons, I've been sitting on an idea for a few days that occurred to me while listening to your conversation with Paul about Rocket and Nebula being in the End Game. As far as all the Earth-based heroes are concerned (especially Rocket), they don't know about Gamora dying in order for Thanos to get the soul stone. However, once they get back to earth, and Nebula tells Rocket about what happened to Gamora, I started thinking whether those two might set some conditions in exchange for their help. After all, we did hear in one of the latest TV spots about there being one last promise to fulfill. Do you think that promise could be that in exchange for Rocket and Nebula's help finding Thanos and undoing the snap, the Avengers have to also help them try to bring back Gamora, since undoing the snap itself wouldn't do that. I wonder if this could this be the impetus for them going into the quantum realm since saving Gamora would likely have to occur somewhere in the past (unless it's through the soul stone, like you've been talking about). If a bunch of crazy stuff needs to happen in order to undo the snap, I feel like some even more crazy stuff needs to happen to bring back Gamora. The more I think about this, the more I'm starting to think that bringing her back could be a major plot point in this movie. After all, if the snap is undone, then Gamora's death really would be for nothing. What are your thoughts?43:36 Alex WardSo I've been a Patreon donor since around the time the Road to Infinity War episodes were coming out, and I can't express how much I owe you, Paul, Marvel Studios News, and this whole community have contributed to rebuilding my Marvel fandom and getting me stoked beyond belief for Captain Marvel and now Endgame. And to be totally honest, last spring was also a really hard time for me personally and having all this content really help me focus on something more positive and fun (well, the snap wasn't fun, but you know what I mean). So I have to ask, what has been your favorite Patreon community moment leading up to Endgame? Maybe a question, discussion, or some type of other interaction. I think mine has just been when we started gradually referring to each other's questions each week, and how that eventually evolved, Jarvis-to-Vision style, into a full fledged Discord community. Anyway, thanks for all that you have done for us, and I hope you have an amazing time seeing the movie!49:07 David RosenConsidering some of the MCU deaths we've had so far, what would you say is the right vs. wrong way to handle a character death? In thinking about some of the more impactful character deaths we've had so far, such as Yondu and Gamora, vs a death like Quicksilver that honestly I don't think really impacted that many people, does it more or less come down to how much time we spend with a certain character before they die for it to matter, or is there more to it than that? What are some character deaths that feel were handled particularly well/not so well, either in the MCU or in the comic book movie genre in general?55:33 Kerry VanderbergHi Sean, only one week to go! Now that we have Disney+ coming out with it's content lineup, plus all the other streaming platforms. Not too long ago Samsung announced that they will not be manufacturing blu-ray players anymore. So it seems like physical media is dying perhaps sooner than later (which saddens me, because I actually like owning the physical copies of my media, even if they remain on a shelf when it actually comes to me sitting down to watch anything). Even though I'm fine with the “streaming age” we are entering into, and I enjoy the accessibility of everything, I also know I love my physical blu-ray collection, and I love going to the theatre. So I have two major questions for you: 1) What are your feelings on the “death” of physical media? 2) What do you think is likely to happen with the theatre going experience in the coming years, and does that make you excited, sad, or indifferent?1:08:09 Kerry VanderbergWhile I liked both Deadpool movies and Shazam, I think I've discovered why I don't love those movies as much as so many others do. Compared to the MCU, Fox's X-Men films, Nolan's Batman trilogy, or most of the DCEU so far, Deadpool 1 and 2 and Shazam are very self-referencial of the superhero genre. They are having fun with the ideas of being a superhero and all the tropes and concepts that go with it, sometimes completely making fun of it. Whereas the characters in the MCU, Nolan's Batman trilogy, etc. all take the idea of being a superhero much more seriously, and treat it at face value within their own world. GOTG or Thor Ragnorok while being very funny, are not making a point of making jokes about being in the world of superheroes (saying things like, “Oh, you're like the bad guy, right?”). While there is nothing wrong with films like DP 1, 2, and Shazam being self-referential because it fits those characters, I've realized that it's not my personal cup of tea. I'm not trying to be critical of those films for doing that. But I also know that the last thing I want is for characters like Cap, Batman, Superman, or Iron Man to break the fourth wall or talk about how exciting it is to be a superhero, or anything like that. Not that I expect that to start happening, but do you think that the responses to the Deadpool films and Shazam tell us that is what the audience wants? I can always count on the MCU for balance, but I worry that WB will take the wrong lessons from the success of the Deadpool films and Shazam, and start assuming that the general audiences want that from superheroes. What do you think about the self-referencial superhero and that affect within the genre?1:13:29 Kerry VanderbergSo I've been back and forth on this idea recently. I am super excited for Endgame. But I am debating on jumping off the hype train afterwards, so to speak. I'll still go see most if not all of the Marvel films. But since the story that we've had since Iron Man will essentially be over, there's a part of me that thinks I won't connect as well with the main characters going forward. I liked Captain Marvel well enough, but it didn't quite hook me like Cap or Iron Man did. I'll certainly give the movies like Shang Chi and the Eternals a chance, and I'll look forward to movies like Black Widow, Black Panther 2 or GOTG 3. But I may not have the bandwidth to really follow the hype and buildup to each MCU movie anymore after Endgame. Then again, announcements at this year's SDCC, or whenever the MCU X-men films are announced may change that. But what are your thoughts on this? I hope you are doing well and have an amazing weekend, along with the rest of the patrons.1:21:18 Giuseppe VicarettiHello Sean, my question for you this time is which Xmen character is your favorite? Mine is Nightcrawler.1:24:14 Alex WardIn honor of Endgame being arguably the most secretive, guarded marketing campaign of all time, do you think Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is taking a similar approach, as they too are ending an epic saga of films? Or has the first trailer already shown too much? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

On the August 2, 2018 episode of /Film Daily, /Film editor-in-chief Peter Sciretta is joined by senior writer Ben Pearson and writer Hoai-Tran Bui to have a brief water cooler discussion, dig into the mail bag and discuss the latest film and TV news, including Tom Cruise, Crazy Rich Asians, Andy Serkis' Animal Farm, Men in Black, and Avengers: Infinity War. You can subscribe to /Film Daily on iTunes, Google Play, Overcast, Spotify and all the popular podcast apps (here is the RSS URL if you need it).   Water Cooler Quickie: Peter got locked out of his house In The Mail Bag: Leanne R writes in “Just wanted to give a short defense of the RunPee app. I actually have a friend who is a girl and she notoriously would take bathroom breaks (at least two) during films and I would get so annoyed at having to recap it for her whenever she got back, but the Run Pee app actually helped our moviegoing experiences. I personally would never use the bathroom during a packed screening of a film I've never seen and I don't like missing scenes in a film generally, but I think for people who value their bladders and don't mind skipping some parts of a film to relieve themselves, it's quite useful. Would recommend!” Matt B from Tacoma, WA writes in “Just wanted to drop a line to let you know that RunPee is a fantastic app. I understand that not all people need it for the Pee portion, however the Run in RunPee is a small part that recaps the first 3 minutes of the film in case you are “Running” late. The Pee side is their main focus and the timer you were speaking of gives you a direction to start the timer, something like “as the Sony logo fades, start the timer”. There are usually two to three peetimes listed, one of them being marked as the ideal peetime. Where there is no major dialogue or plot importance, but they do a great job in summing up the short 3-5 minute exposition in a few sentences that you can read on the walk to or from the restroom.  The best part about that app that is not promoted is they also include whether or not there is anything post credits. If there is they will give their opinion as to the importance of sticking around or not and if it lies during or after the credits with a brief, spoiler-free synopsis.   Thanks for the great podcast and please don't injure yourself at Comic-Con.  PS Give HT and Chris a raise. They're great!!!” Drew from Houston, TX writes in “I just wanted to throw in my two cents regarding movie theater trash. I worked at a pretty nice theater in Oklahoma back in 2010-2011. We always had people dedicated to cleaning the theaters. We would walk every row and sweep up trash. I don't think it's awful for people to leave trash on the ground as long as it's easy to sweep, like candy wrappers and pieces of popcorn. Drinks left in the cup holders would be disposed of by our workers.  However - people can be really gross and rude. Almost every day there would be someone who would leave a cup of dip spit in the cup holder. Things like this would make me almost dry heave as I went to throw them away. If you throw your trash away, thanks for helping us out. If you don't, it's not a big deal unless it's gross. So please, don't be gross.” Robert L writes in: “I've been using Vudu's Disc 2 Digital and Movies Anywhere to convert my blu-rays to iTunes, doing 3-5 movies a month to not impact my paycheck too much. Although I find it has been worth it, this process has come with some disappointments. The biggest being that you can only get HD quality, even if that movie is available in 4K on iTunes. Also, some single discs are not eligible for Disc 2 Digital and most of all box sets are not eligible. And of course, you have to check to make sure the movie is in Movies Anywhere. Also you can only do 100 movies a year with D2D.  In my goal to have most of my important movies in both disc and digital, I can usually wait for a movie to go on sale on iTunes for 5 bucks. I save those for movies that aren't eligible for MA & D2D, or if iTunes has a movie in 4K that is not available on UHD Blu-Ray.   tl:dr, Disc 2 Digital with Movies Anywhere only works with some movies and doesn't convert to a 4k version.” Michael from Kansas City writes in: “Big fan of all things SlashFilm. Had to pause the podcast in utter shock when I heard you say you hadn't seen Deadwood.  To echo Chris' thoughts, not only is it among the best HBO series, the roles and performances are pretty much career bests for the entire cast. It's no surprise they want back for another go.  Sets, plots, David Milch's never-better insane dialogue (much of which he rewrote day of)...this thing is the total package.  Will also add that I initially kinda hated it. Saw the first episode air after Sopranos and wasn't in the mindset to receive it very well— was confused by the anachronistic cursing, thought Timothy Olyphant's acting was rough, and like you wasn't naturally drawn to the Western setting. But after the unrelenting insistence of a friend that this was a work of genius, I ended up going back and binging the DVD's via Netflix (when that was a thing) and it immediately rocketed up near the top of my personal all-time TV series list.  So much so that I became a big Milch devotee, going on to check out “Murder One” the ill-fated “Luck,” some old “NYPD Blue,” and yes even an attempt at “John From Cincinnati” (which I can't recommend).  Long story short, I feel like I have to pay forward the kindness done by my buddy making me watch it by trying to get you to do the same. Even if it doesn't immediately hook you, stick with it. In the spirit of the show itself: The stubborn cocksucker truly holds many goddamn rewards. James from England writes in “I love listening to the podcast, so keep it up, I'm not into magic myself, but I like all of you talking about what you're been up to, be it food, theme parks or anything in between, so don't let the haters put you down!   Being from England I've heard you all talk about movie pass and now AMC A List and the potential ramifications you think it would have on people, but I've known that we have had Cineworld Unlimited since about 2008 (https://www.cineworld.co.uk/unlimited), so roughly 10 years now, this offers the ability to pre-book online and choose your seats as soon as tickets are available, discounts on food and drink, an unlimited amount of movies and after a year you can see 3D films with no extra cost too. After seeing 2 movies a month you've made your money back, so it's a great deal. It did encourage me to take a chance on movies I wouldn't have otherwise and also they have “Cineworld Unlimited” screenings, showing films before release where only card holders can go. You still get a mixed bag of people, some people talking / on phones, but that's just society now and the disrespect of others unfortunately.   We also have Odeon Limitless which I don't have experience of, but is a similar setup (https://www.odeon.co.uk/limitless/), so in England we've had this for years and it works great. People saying that A List would stop if movie pass stopped are crazy, it draws people into the cinema, which is ultimately what they want. Those using the pass will talk about the positives to their friends and families, spread the love of that chain, but also those movies, thus drawing more people to the cinema. It's win win really! Oh and Cineworld do family passes too, which I know haven't made it to the US yet. I just thought you might like to know that the US isn't the only place to have this going, the UK has this working successfully for years.   By the way, leaving your rubbish anywhere is rude and bad for society, it shows no respect to others, so if you have rubbish (including sweet wrappers), pick them up yourself at the end of the screening and put them in the bin. Would you dump them outside in the street knowing a road sweeper would come and get them and that's their job? No, at least I hope not, so clean up after yourselves! Keep up the great work on the podcast.”   In The News: HT: The More Tom Cruise Runs, The Better His Movies Do, According to Science Ben: ‘Crazy Rich Asians' Filmmakers Turned Down a Giant Payday From Netflix to Go Theatrical HT: ‘Crazy Rich Asians' Tracking for $18 Million-Plus Opening Ben: Netflix Buys Andy Serkis' ‘Animal Farm' Motion Capture Adaptation HT: Rebecca Ferguson Joins ‘Men in Black' Spin-Off Ben: ‘Avengers: Infinity War' Writer Explains Why Thanos Waited So Long to Execute His Plan Other articles mentioned: Tom cruise running   All the other stuff you need to know:   You can find more about all the stories we mentioned on today's show at slashfilm.com, and linked inside the show notes.   /Film Daily is published every weekday, bringing you the most exciting news from the world of movies and television as well as deeper dives into the great features from slashfilm.com.   You can subscribe to /Film Daily on iTunes, Google Play, Overcast, Spotify and all the popular podcast apps (RSS).   Please feel free to send your feedback, questions, comments and concerns to us at peter@slashfilm.com. This week a TV movie crushes a group of reviewers that has already been beaten down by so many bad films this season. The cherry on the top of this steaming pile is The Hoff! Armin & Arden join your hosts and discuss a movie Marvel would like to forget. Also, forget David Hasselhoff, one of the costars is actually named Ron Canada! Arden is in love with the Swedish villainess, Viper! The Hoff says he’s a better Nick Fury than Samuel L. Jackson. What’s your job? “I write only super hero movies. All of them. Good or bad.” Arden points out in Commando Schwarzenegger has a nice house & is doing well. In contrast, The Hoff in this film is working a mine in the Yukon? Armin mentions this Key & Peele sketch about a retired military specialist that highlights the cliché. Of course, he can’t watch that clip because it will only work if you’re in the States. Thanks for nothing, internet. The spokesperson for collagen, Lisa Rinna. Everyone loves The Hoff. Chris believes even K.I.T.T. must have hit on him in Knight Rider. Chris thinks this movie is all kinds of Stargate SG-1 gone wrong. Paul says, Babylon 5. The British character in the film is the “comic relief,” and the actor was really happy to do it. He says so in this old article. The guys get in a discussion of other bad movies you’d watch instead of this one. Which is worse, this movie or Batman & Robin? Armin believes Ron Canada is the affordable James Earl Jones and calls him Mufasa. Gary in the chatroom thinks the only thing that could make the movie worse is Brendan Fraser. The henchmen are the Blue Man Group? Arden thinks the set from the baddies’ lair was stolen for the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. The villainess has obviously been through the A Clockwork Orange treatment and it didn’t work. She crazy. All of The Hoff’s best lines are in the Quotes section on IMDB. Armin says the mind reading scenes are just Action Essentials 2 plopped into the TV film. Armin also adds that he missed years of the plot of Interstellar on a restroom break. Arturo in the chat room reminds us of the great website, RunPee.com. For just such an occasion. The Hoff has been poisoned, but not from eating cancerous rats. Paul’s pitch for the new Oregon Trail: “Two of your party have died of cancerous rat poisoning.” Terry David Mulligan is recognized by Arden because he did a lot of Canadian TV shows. Here, he’s the president of the USA. We saw Gremlins so we’re going to steal this bit. Arden thinks the false ending with The Hoff & Lips on the Helicarrier could have been more Titanic-like. Wait, there’s a helicarrier? Yes, the Lego version is very expensive. Armin says this movie is better than Gymkata, but as bad Waterworld. Arden tells us the other movies that came out this year, The Big Lebowski, American History X and Saving Private Ryan. Generally, things started to turn around for Marvel with Blade and X-Men. Arden read Baywatch for the articles. Armin says you should watch Blade and Chris recommends Spider-Man. Arden suggests Spectre while Paul warns you to not watch Tomorrowland, ever. Since the film was so very bad, ignore it. Instead, be sure to check out Arden’s Prairie Noodle Shop and Armin’s webcomic, Biasedcat. Thanks to both of them for watching the film and reviewing it. Most small businesses will fail. According to StatisticBrain.com, 25% of businesses will fail in year one, by year five the failure rate is 55%, by year ten it's 71%. Why does this happen? There are many explanations being offered, from industry changes to economic environment. My strong belief is that most of these so-called reasons are excuses. And when we get right down to the real reasons most businesses fail, it turns out the top 10 reasons are all within your control. Tip Of The Week  Did  you ever sit squirming in the movie theater, because you needed to run to the restroom but didn't want to miss an important scene? Now there's an app to help you out. It's called RunPee! RunPee lets you call up the movie you're watching and the app will tell you when is a good time to go to the restroom, how long you have, and even tell you what happens while you're gone. It has silent alarms you can set up, letting you know when it's safe to go to the bathroom, so you don't have to take out your phone in the dark theater. The best part is… it's free! Click here to get the RunPee app.   Spiritual Foundations Following Jesus can be confusing sometimes. First of all, Jesus himself said some of the most puzzling things. And now, 2,000 years after he rose from the dead, there are many conflicting opinions about what he said and did. How do you know who is telling the truth? Who really represents the Spirit of god, and who is a false teacher or false prophet? I think there are 5 distinguishing characteristics that should be warning signals of false teachers or doctrines. (For further reading, see 1 John.) Claims to be the “one true way”. Promotes an “us against them” mindset. Sets up one person as the “ultimate authority” who must be blindly obeyed. Over-emphasizes one doctrine or scripture in a weird way. Uses fear and manipulation to control followers. Remember what Jesus himself said: “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35) Feature Segment: The 10 True Real Reasons Your Business Will Probably Fail Most businesses do not close because of competition, the economy, regulation, or any of the other excuses businesses owners use to explain their failure. Most businesses that fail do so because of preventable mistakes on the part of the business owner. The most common reasons are: Mediocre product, customer service. No employee training system. No marketing system. No investment in business/staff improvement. No clear objectives. No testing and tracking. Inefficiency. Laziness. No advisors. No cash. In the audio, I explore each of these in depth, and provide solutions to each of these problems.
