The 3Gs are back in the fold as we look back at an impressive return to winning ways for the Dons as they, eventually, blew the Hampden Hangover away with a thumping 4-1 win over Dundee on Saturday evening in the CINCH. We also briefly check in with our loanees, the Quines & the Young Team as we head into ANOTHER FUCKING international break. In this episode Ryan acts like a real Gerard about a video he was asked to watch. Kevin then talks about all the new parts being built for the 3GS and Gerard explains the utopic hierarchy of BMWs.
Well... another weekend of chaos in the ongoing soap opera that is AFC - The Dave Cormack Years as the Dons blitzed past Kilmarnock to book a place at Hampden in the Tennent's Scottish Cup Semi-Finals before Neil Warnock decided he'd had enough and was heading back down the road to spend more quality time with Sharon - all in all, it's a right ol' muddle. After attempting to pick the bones out of all of that, the 3Gs are left looking ahead to the second installment of Peter Leven's interim stewardship as the Famous face up to a mammoth week with trips to Dundee and North Lanarkshire looking to steer ourselves away from the wrong end of the table before we head into the international break. Although Lisa Niver has traveled in far-off locales from Vanuatu to Nepal, received numerous accolades as an award-winning travel expert who has explored 102 countries and six continents, and is the founder of the website WeSaidGoTravel, what people don't realize is that this began from the wreckage of a rotten romance. As a newlywed, Lisa was on the adventure of a lifetime. She had quit her job, rented her condo, and traveled around Asia. To the outside world, Lisa was a woman living out her dreams of exploring ancient ruins in Cambodia and seeing orangutans in Borneo. She kept a dark secret in private: an abusive relationship. But, when she found herself lying on a sidewalk in Thailand, looking up at the sky in severe pain, she knew things had to change. At age forty- seven, Niver found the courage to set course on a new life. Feeling like a failure, pushing fifty, and moving home to her parents' house to start again from scratch, Lisa began taking one tiny "brave-ish" step at a time to take her life far away from the old one and into the adventurous world of travel writing. These small hurdles led to the challenge of trying fifty new things before turning fifty. From diving into shipwrecks, swimming with sharks, bobsledding at 3Gs, indulging in wild escapades, Lisa found herself traversing the world on a journey of reinvention, personal growth, and discovering what it actually means to be "brave." Her new book Brave-ish chronicles Lisa's inspiring expeditions to distant corners of the world, including Myanmar, Cuba, Morocco, Kenya, and Mongolia, but this is more than a travelogue. Brave-ish inspires readers to dream big, take risks, and embrace the unknown to create a life filled with wonder and excitement, even when courage seems elusive. In this episode, Lisa shares how she saved herself, took risks, embraced the unknown, and pressed the reset button when she fell off track. She also shares how she taught herself to rest, not quit. Lisa's story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of perseverance.

Can you teach yourself and your colleagues to generate great ideas — ideas genuinely worth pursuing? Robin Landa, an author and professor of design at Kean University in Union, New Jersey, has made a career studying where breakthrough ideas come from — so-called ideation — and how anyone can conjure concepts that will be revolutionary. Robin's latest book is The New Art of Ideas: Unlock Your Creative Potential. In it, she identifies the required foundation of every good idea: Goal, Gap, and Gain - or what she terms the 3Gs. Robin doesn't promise that if you read her book, you or your employees will become the next Mark Twain, Albert Einstein, or Steve Jobs. But she doesn't rule it out either. Play along as host and award-winning author Dean Rotbart quizzes Robin — a Jeopardy enthusiast — on her mastery of various categories of creativity. And be sure your response is in the form of a question. Photo: Robin Landa, The New Art of IdeasPosted: January 16, 2023Monday Morning Run Time: 41:42
In our season three premiere, new host Mark Joseph Stern speaks with Jeffrey Robins, an attorney in the DC area. Jeff's grandfather was born in Poland and emigrated to the United States after surviving the Holocaust. In this episode, Mark and Jeff discuss the impact of a survivor's story on their children and grandchildren; the investigative work that so many 3Gs undertake to uncover their family's history; and the urgent, continued need for Holocaust education. They also explore how Jeff's close connection to a survivor led him to a career in the law.
Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 15-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world, from Sunday through Thursday. Holocaust correspondent Matt Lebovic and deputy Jewish World editor Yaakov Schwartz join host Amanda Borschel-Dan on this special Yom Hashoah episode. To begin the program, Lebovic discusses the theme for this year's Yom Hashoah, "Transports to Extinction: The Deportation of the Jews during the Holocaust." What can we learn from mining the minute information that made of the web of transport towards the death camps? Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24 and the following reported atrocities, there have been increasing comparisons with the Holocaust. Is this a fair and "helpful" comparison? What will Holocaust memory and education look like in 10 years? Lebovic talks about a new project in which 3-Gs -- grandchildren of survivors -- take up the responsibility of bearing witness. Schwartz reports in from Auschwitz, where he is participating in March of the Living. What is unique about this year's march? Schwartz is embedded with a unique delegation of Muslims from throughout the Middle East. Who are they? Discussed articles include: Israel comes to a standstill as it commemorates Holocaust victims ‘The new Auschwitz': Russians accused of burning bodies to hide Mariupol atrocities ‘3Gs,' grandkids of Holocaust survivors, retell grandparents' stories as own legacy Subscribe to The Times of Israel Daily Briefing on iTunes, Spotify, PlayerFM, Google Play, or wherever you get your podcasts. Please join me for the sixth episode in the Conversations with Alan series in The Locher Room to meet a group of 2G's – children of Holocaust Survivors. These three individuals are working to honor the memory and legacy of the survivors and victims, to promote awareness of the Holocaust, and to provide education of this and other genocides. Come hear their family's story of survival during WWII and learn about the work and the messages they are sharing around the country to make sure something like this never happens again. With anti-Semitism on the rise, we four feel the need to use our voices to help educate others about a part of history we don't want to ever see repeated.Joining me for this conversation are Dr. Ettie Zilber, who is an author, educator and speaker who serves on the board of the Phoenix Holocaust Association and supports committee work of the Anti-Defamation League and the Arizona Jewish Historical Society; Ken Engel who is Chair of Children of Holocaust Survivors Association in Minnestoa (CHAIM), a Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area group of children (second generation, a.k.a 2Gs), grandchildren (3Gs), and other descendants and friends of Holocaust survivors; and Janice Friebaum, M.S., M.A., is Vice President of the Phoenix Holocaust Association and a freelance educator, presenter and trainer on topics related to the Holocaust, Holocaust survivors and survivors' descendants. Graham shares the second of our two part series on 3Gs. This second part is entitled "3Gs To Grow In".
Graham starts the first of a two part series on 3Gs this first part is 3Gs to weed out. The second will be 3Gs to grow in.
In 5?

Toby's "Oma" (grandmother) Jenny and aunt Helga escaped Vienna by way of Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy and England before making a new life in the United States which would include the birth of Toby's mother Fran in 1949. In each podcast episode, Toby interviews 3Gs with fascinating family stories and explores the impact and inspiration of this shared history.
Sebastien and Cody announce the winner of last week’s giveaway, discuss their news intake strategies and cover this week’s top tech headlines. The pair also get into the future of Apple TV hardware and why switching to Android isn’t as enticing as it once was. Apple may be working on a MagSafe battery pack for the latest iPhone 12 series 5 budget-friendly MagSafe chargers The Apple TV app is now available on Chromecast with Google TV What’s the point of an Apple TV then? Apple is building a solid library for Apple TV+, but is it enough to keep subscribers? What we’ve been watching: Goliath on Prime Video Vacation on HBO Max Gemini Man Hulu Q&A Dante sent us a voice memo: will we update the website? Preston asks on Twitter: Have you guys considered a segment or new podcast where you can cover interesting Apple TV+ content with spoilers? Maybe it could be monthly or just when appropriate. Love the new show! David emails us and says: Hey Sebastien and Cody. Firstly, I really like the new name and artwork. Although with my visual impairment I can’t appreciate the full detail of the artwork, I can see enough to say I like it! I have a question. Have either of you ever given serious thought to switching to Android? I’ve been using iPhones since the 3GS in 2009/2010, and have always loved them. I love my 12 Mini too (I did quickly get used to the size!). However just for the fun of it, and to try something different, I’ve been genuinely thinking about giving Android a shot for a year, and wondered if you’ve ever felt the same temptation for some variety? On the other hand it seems like a hassle; all of my photos are in iCloud photo library, I have an Apple Watch, AirPods etc etc… Keep up the great work, I’ll keep listening no matter what you decide to do! Hello, and welcome to episode 156 of the EPST podcast. I'm your host, Larry Snow. This week, the topic is Winter Driving. I know it's not winter yet, but the days and nights are getting cooler, and just a couple of weeks ago New England area had its first snow. Winter will be here before you know it, so we felt it was the perfect opportunity to discuss Winter driving and secure transportation. Other drivers may have the option not to drive in winter weather, but not driving in icy and snowy conditions is not a luxury that most security drivers have. No doubt, driving in winter conditions can be challenging for all, including the Security Driver. An interesting metric from the ISDA Executive Vehicle & Secure Transportation Survey - Seventy percent of survey participants drive in winter conditions—this number aligns with the national (U.S.) average. These are some facts and statistics that support the dangers of driving in a winter environment. 17% of all vehicle crashes occur during winter conditions. (NHTSA, 2019) There are about 156,000 crashes annually due to icy roads. (Carsurance.net, 2020) Weather-related vehicle accidents kill more people annually than large-scale weather disasters. (The Weather Channel, 2018) It takes up to 10 times longer to stop on snow and ice than on dry pavement. (Geico Insurance, 2018) Freeway speeds are reduced by 3% to 13% in light snow and 5% to 40% in heavy snow. (FHWA, 2019) Each year, 24% of weather-related vehicle crashes occur on snowy, slushy, or icy pavement, and 15% happen during snowfall or sleet. (FHWA, 2019) More than 116,000 Americans are injured, and over 1,300 are killed on snowy, slushy, or icy pavement every winter. (Safe Winter Roads, 2019) Over 70% of the nation's roads are located in snowy regions, which receive more than five inches (or 13 cm) average snowfall annually. (FHWA, 2019) (Source: https://driving-tests.org/driving-statistics/) Type of Vehicle Driving, any form of driving, including winter driving, is a balance. For decades we refer to that balance as the Security Driver Triangle. The triangle is made up of three components: THE DRIVER, THE MACHINE, and THE ENVIRONMENT. When measuring driver capability, you cannot separate the vehicle from the driver; both contribute, along with the environment, to the driver and the principal's safety and security. A skilled security driver understands the effects that changes in the environment have on the vehicle driver combination. They work to anticipate vehicle behavior changes and are ready to maximize all of the vehicle's capability. They know that driving in winter conditions significantly decreases the vehicle's capability. The security driver understands various vehicles' characteristics and their limitations – any vehicle, including All Wheel Drive (AWD). There is a misconception of the capability of AWD and FWD in winter driving conditions. Most of the confusion comes from misinformation seen on T.V. Ads about AWD Vehicles. In one ad, the announcer talked about driving on "Black Ice," He mentioned that if you press the correct buttons or switches on the vehicle, you solve the problems created by driving on black ice. PURE BS – Keep in mind that black ice is defined as a road covered with ice – unless the vehicle he is selling can alter the laws of physics –driving on black ice is dangerous and a challenge. No matter what the T.V. ads show, no AWD or 4WD system will make up for a decrease in adhesion. When ice – snow – etc. creates less adhesion between the tire and the road, the vehicle's capability to go – stop – and turn is greatly diminished. A quick definition of AWD and FWD drive is in order. All-wheel drive refers to automatic four-wheel-drive systems where the vehicle selects two- or four-wheel drive based on road conditions. In slippery conditions, power is automatically directed to individual wheels with the best traction. This is especially helpful for getting out of snowed-in parking spots or tackling unplowed roads. However, drivers should keep in mind AWD does little to aid turning and braking on snow and ice. The problem is that most 4WD/AWD drivers think they have a vehicle that can defy the laws of physics. No matter what vehicle the security driver is in, stopping on snow and ice will require up to 10 times the distance as stopping in normal conditions, and driving onto an off-ramp during black ice or wintry conditions will require a lot less speed than usual. The driver will have to anticipate that lower speed before they get to the off-ramp. The Science of Winter Driving If you are an ISDA certified driver or have attended an old Scotti School or Vehicle Dynamics Institute training program, you have been trained and measured to use 80% of the vehicle's capability. That means that you can apply 80% of the vehicle's weight pushing on the center of gravity of the vehicle either in a braking scenario - turning scenario, or a combination of braking and turning. But when driving from dry conditions to ice (Black Ice), the traction to maneuver your vehicle decreases by 65%, so you suddenly have gone from an 80% driver to a 15% driver. This means you can only use 15% of the car to go stop and turn, not a pleasant thought. Let's use the science of driving and work the numbers to illustrate the danger of driving on ice or inclement weather. Consider that you were driving a Suburban that handles at .85 G’s., which means it can absorb 85% of the vehicle's weight, pushing on the vehicle's center of gravity. So if you were driving a 6000 pounds Suburban that can handle at .85 G.S., under normal conditions, meaning no snow or ice, when you move the steering wheel, the vehicle is designed to absorb 5100 pounds (.85 times 6000) pushing on the center of gravity, and as an 80% driver you can apply 4000 pounds (.80 X 5100 lbs) to the Suburban center of gravity and life will be good – exciting but good. A Scenario Let's create a scenario where you are driving a 6000-pound Suburban that handles at .85G's, and you move from dry conditions to icy conditions. Again, using the science of driving, the following explains why you and your principal's life is about to get exciting; who, we must keep in mind, pays you to drive him safely and securely. You are now driving a vehicle that has gone from being able to absorb .85 G's to accept only point .3GS or 30% of the weight of the vehicle; The .3 G's represents a 65% loss in your cars handling. So, now in a matter of tenths of seconds, you are driving a car that went from .85 G.S. know down to .3 g's, quick arithmetic tells us you can apply 1800 pounds to the center of gravity; once you get past that number, refer to the get exciting mentioned above. There is more bad news if you are an 80% driver - consider that you share that icy road with a substantial number of average drivers. The average driver, as we have talked about for decades, can use only 40 to 50% of the vehicles capability, which translates to that they can apply only 720 to 900 pounds on the Suburban's center of gravity before they slide off into the snow - hopefully not taking you with them. Consider this if you have attended a Scotti School or VDI training program in the last 10 to 15 years. Imagine that you cannot drive through the slalom course at a speed greater than 25 without losing control; that is the difference between driving on ice on drive pavement. Again, for those who have taken our training, we ask you to go back to the driver's equation. If the coefficient of friction between the tire and the road surface is low, you only have two options; you can decrease your speed and limit your steering. But, since you may have to use the steering to drive onto an off-ramp, your only real option is to lower your speed. Summary No 4WD or AWD system will make up for the 65% decrease in traction. If there is less adhesion between the tire and the road, the vehicle's capability is greatly diminished. But using some simple math, consider that when you were driving on icy roads, the coefficient of friction is very low, so having the capability to use 80% doesn't mean much because 80% of .1 is still a dangerous scenario. That's not to say that AWD is not useful in bad weather. It might be enough to get the vehicle up snow-covered hills and get the vehicle moving from a stop position where 2WD would not accomplish that. Although this has been said many times and many ways, stopping on snow and ice may require up to 10 times the distance as stopping in normal conditions. You can't beat the laws of physics, so the only way you can survive driving in these conditions is to keep the speeds down. ====================================== That will bring us to the end of another episode of the EPST podcast. Last but by no means least, we are back with the final installment, Part 3 of The End of Overwhelm. And whew this is a good one! I'm talking about essential woo. Can the woo-woo be essential to ending overwhelm? Absolutely. Here's why: overwhelm is all about energy. It is about being stuck in a thinking and feeling loop in response to your circumstances which creates a draining negative energy. Aka overwhelm. So the real way to end overwhelm is to cultivate a higher vibe, more flow based energy so you can sail through your day with ease. On today's show I'm going to share with you the 3Gs that are the antidote to overwhelm and which cultivate that calm, confident energy and how to use them. Are you ready to not just end overwhelm but emerge feeling serene? The key is in the woo. Martyn R. Lewis is an acclaimed business professional with a vast background in all aspects of revenue generation. Born and educated in the UK, he emigrated to Canada in the 1980 and now resides in the Sonoma area of northern California. Prior to founding his own company, he had extensive executive management, sales and marketing experience. His positions included President and CEO for Drake International, North America, where he led a large, multi-divisional sales force to reverse a declining trend to growing the business at more than three times the rate of the industry. Prior to Drake, Martyn was with Digital Equipment of Canada for ten years. During his tenure at DEC he led several hundred sales professionals, culminating in the position of VP Marketing and Sales Services. Prior to joining DEC, Martyn worked in the major accounts division of ICL in the UK. During these years, he participated in countless sales training programs; his proficiency rose to the point that he became certified to deliver one of the leading sales methodologies. He attended peer-level executive retreats, where he met and worked with the key opinion leaders and authors on the topics of business, sales, and marketing. In the mid-90's, he left corporate life to start his own consulting company, Market-Partners Inc. It would be easy to say that he did so to escape the clichéd “corporate grind,” but the reasons were much more complex. Because as successful as he had become, he was not what most would define as a “natural salesperson”. His interests ran to engineering; tearing down and rebuilding his Lotus sportscar, designing and handcrafting high-end audio systems—science, methodology, planning, and results. Yet throughout his sales career, Martyn continually ran into the myths and legends of the “art” and “black magic” supposedly utilized by top-drawer sales wizards. And perhaps for a tiny minority of overachievers, that might have been true. But his concern had always been for the majority—the whole sales force—to succeed, and perhaps not spectacularly, but certainly consistently and profitably. Martyn wanted to apply the elements and rules of science to sales and marketing, to prescribe method where madness often prevailed. And he wasn't going to be shy about it, as his company's original tagline was “The Science of Sales and Marketing.” Of course, with science comes research, and he knew that if they were to bring true scientific discipline to the needs of their clients, they had to exercise that same discipline in their own efforts of observing, recording, and analyzing what they found. Working now at arm's length with his clients' sales forces brought a much wider view of all the inherent issues that affect sales success. And it was at this point that he and his team started to see a repeating pattern. These organizations all had offerings that delivered value to a particular market yet too often were falling short of hoped-for results. They uncovered the disconcerting fact that while most of their clients were doing good work offering a good product, the results all too often suggested otherwise. After seeing this phenomenon so many times, it was obvious to Martyn that something was missing; there was something more at play, and he needed to find out what that was. As their work continued to evolve and they talked to ever more individuals across organizations about how they buy and why they don't, a number of observations began to materialize. And once recognized, defined and documented, these revelatory observations crystallized into hard data and now form the basis of his foundational concept of Outside-In Revenue Generation. Martyn and his team have since distilled the theory, shaken out the bugs as it were, and by putting it into practice, have seen the results. He has seen their work create over a billion dollars of prospective business for a leading high technology company. He has seen it enable a small company that was stuck at revenue of some $20m to being able to sell themselves for well over $500m within a few years. He now knows that the approach that they have created provides significant, swift, scalable and sustainable results. Martyn has consulted in 33 countries with the result that his work has been used across 44 countries, in 17 languages, and has impacted over 85,000 sales professionals. He is internationally recognized as an extraordinary speaker, having delivered numerous keynote addresses live, on radio and television and he is a pioneer in utilizing webinar technology through his sister company, 3GS. Martyn acts as an advisor to a number of executives in the high technology industry and is active on several advisory boards and boards of directors. On a personal note, Martyn lives in Northern California wine country where he enjoys the local food and beverages. He also enjoys music, cooking, hiking and the performing arts and has a particular passion for airplanes and English sports cars. He gained his first pilots license at 16 and has maintained a lifelong interest in aviation. He now flies his own plane combining his passion for aviation with his love of dogs by flying rescue dogs for charity. He also coaches and mentors young adults into the business world and works with young entrepreneurs in the townships of Johannesburg with the Ubuntu Mission. https://buyingjourneydna.com
