No fim, a Caxirola ajuda a revelar quem dá a palavra final numa economia: o consumidor. Can the Body Heal Itself? A Pharmacist and Naturopath Talk Pregnancy and Nutrition Dr. Randi Shannon said she was going to blow our minds, and she delivered! In this episode of MaternalRx, pharmacist Danielle Plummer, PharmD, sits down with Dr. Shannon, a traditional naturopath who uses Face, Tongue and Nail Analysis, an approach she describes as rooted in thousands of years of traditional medicine. Their conversation explores pregnancy preparation, nutrition, nausea and vomiting, minerals, essential oils, disease prevention, and Dr. Shannon's belief that the face, tongue, and fingernails can reveal clues about what is happening inside the body. The interview is followed by a commentary where Danielle puts her pharmacist hat on for an evidence-based debrief, examining several of the episode's most surprising claims and asking an essential healthcare question: What happens when an idea sounds biologically plausible, yet the clinical evidence has not been tested? Topics include Type 1 diabetes, Down syndrome, salt intake, peppermint oil in pregnancy, cholesterol, dietary oils, pharmaceuticals, nutrient requirements, and the important distinction between traditional naturopaths and licensed naturopathic doctors. This isn't a conversation about dismissing complementary medicine. It's about listening with curiosity while still asking important questions: What do we know? What don't we know? Where might an approach put a patient or pregnancy at risk, and where might it support the body's ability to heal? Stay through the end to hear Danielle's Takeaway! Section 1: Welcome and disclaimer Meet Dr. Randi Shannon What is a naturopath? Preparing the body for pregnancy Nausea in pregnancy and gut health What can fingernails tell us? Nutrients and claims about preventing or reversing disease What can the tongue reveal? What can the face reveal? Section 2: Evidence-Based Debrief Do we need exactly 60 minerals, 16 vitamins, 12 amino acids and 3 essential fatty acids? Is Type 1 diabetes created during the first trimester? Can Type 1 diabetes develop later in life? Can maternal nutrition reverse Down syndrome in utero? A Parenting Resource for Children’s Behavior and Mental Health
Is Something in Your Home Quietly Affecting Your Family's Nervous System? Hidden everyday habits may be adding stress to your child's brain without you realizing it. Dr. Roseann Capanna-Hodge shares practical, science-backed strategies through her Regulation First Parenting™ approach to help families reduce emotional dysregulation and build calmer, more resilient nervous systems. Many parents focus on stress, sleep, and nutrition—but what if hidden environmental factors are also playing a role?In this episode, I sit down with EMF expert Nick Pinault to discuss how everyday technology may contribute to nervous system stress—and more importantly, what parents can realistically do without fear or overwhelm.Let's calm the brain first, because small changes can make a meaningful difference. Why are some kids more sensitive to environmental stressors? Not every child responds to environmental stress in the same way. Children with ADHD, anxiety, autism, OCD, PANS/PANDAS, or other forms of nervous system dysregulation often have more sensitive nervous systems.Behavior is communication. Sometimes what looks like defiance or emotional reactivity is really an overwhelmed brain asking for support.Simple ways to reduce stress on the nervous system:Turn off Wi-Fi overnight.Keep phones out of bedrooms.Use speakerphone or wired headphones when possible.Prioritize healthy sleep habits.A regulated nervous system is more resilient to everyday challenges. Can EMFs affect my child's sleep and nervous system? One of the biggest concerns discussed is sleep quality.Nick explains that research suggests wireless radiation before bedtime may make it harder for the brain to fully transition into sleep. Since sleep is one of the biggest regulators of emotional health, protecting it is one of the simplest ways to support your child.Imagine your child struggles every morning despite getting enough hours in bed. Before assuming they're lazy or oppositional, it may be worth looking at bedtime routines—including where devices are kept.Better sleep habits include:Charging phones outside the bedroom.Turning devices to Airplane Mode.Creating a technology-free bedtime routine.Shutting off Wi-Fi overnight whenever possible. What simple changes can parents make without giving up technology? The good news is that this conversation isn't about eliminating technology. It's about making small, sustainable choices that reduce unnecessary exposure while supporting better nervous system health.Easy changes any family can make:Use wired headphones at home.Download movies before travel instead of streaming.Use Ethernet when possible.Keep devices away from your body when not in use.Model healthy technology habits for your children.Progress—not perfection—is the goal.

We're moving €500,000 of our retirement investments out of the United States and into Portugal.Yes, the investment can potentially qualify us for Portugal's Golden Visa. But here's the part that may surprise you:If Portugal eliminated the Golden Visa tomorrow, we'd still make the investment. Why?Because we're increasingly uncomfortable having so much of our financial future tied to one country, one currency and one economy. In this episode of Queer Money®, we're getting personal about our own retirement portfolio and the three reasons we're investing in the Optimize Portugal Golden Opportunities Fund, plus the one reason we absolutely wouldn't.Portugal's market returned approximately 37% in 2025 versus roughly 17% for the U.S. market, and through the period discussed in this episode, Portugal continued to outperform the U.S. The fund we're investing in returned 25.1% in 2025 and reported a 13.6% annualized return since its 2021 inception.Of course, past performance doesn't guarantee future returns. But performance is only part of our decision.

In this bonus episode, Fritz shares key lessons from his week in Ontario as the invited speaker for the 13th Triggs International Premium Vinifera Lecture Series, hosted by Brock University's Cool Climate Enology and Viticulture Institute. Speaking directly to cool-climate vineyard owners and managers, Fritz explains why nutrient management is a pressing topic for Canadian growers, particularly in non-irrigated vineyards that rely on ground-applied fertilizers. He walks through current practices in Ontario, contrasts them with fertigation approaches used in British Columbia, and highlights where growers have strong foundations and where there is room to refine their approach. Listeners will come away with specific ways to fine-tune sampling, fertilizer timing, and nutrient sources to support vine balance and fruit quality in cool-climate vineyards. In this episode, you will hear: Why the Triggs Lecture Series matters for cool-climate vineyards How Ontario growers currently manage nutrients without irrigation When and why to add leaf blade sampling and bloom-time tissue tests Smarter timing for soil vs foliar nitrogen, magnesium, and boron applications Common nutrient issues in Ontario and better options for addressing them Follow and Review: If you enjoyed this episode, be sure to follow the podcast and leave a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts! August 24, 2026 - Season 17, Episode 13 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing several key things that Pittsburgh Steelers HC Mike McCarthy had to say during morning media session. The Steelers are planning to have rookie OT Max Iheanachor practice on Monday, so we discuss the possibility of him making his debut Thursday night in the team's preseason finale. McCarthy also said that DB Jalen Ramsey is set to practice on Monday as he is being removed from the Active/PUP list. We also pass along the seemingly good health of several other players that have been dealing with injuries coming out of the weekend. On Monday, McCarthy refused to confirm that QB Will Howard will definitely make the 53-man roster this year, so Alex and I discuss that tidbit. We also talk a little bit about McCarthy telling the media on Monday that the team is currently at an impasse with CB Joey Porter Jr. when it comes to contract extension talks. The Steelers made several transactions on Monday morning, so we go over what those moves detail. In the middle of this Monday show, Alex and I get into our full all-22 recap of the Steelers' second preseason game against the New York Jets. We start that off by discussing the two interceptions that Howard threw against the Jets and the role that WR Roman Wilson seemingly played in both of them. We also discuss the mistakes that Howard seemed to make on both of those interceptions. As part of us discussing those two interceptions, we drill deeper into translating what McCarthy had to say about both of those plays. After breaking down the Friday night play of both Howard and QB Drew Allar, Alex and I discuss whether four quarterbacks being kept on the 53-man roster appears to be an almost lock at this point. Alex and I then work our way through discussing the play of the starting offensive line on Friday night against the Jets. After discussing several offensive position groups, we recap all of the position groups on defense and that includes highlighting the play of several players on that side of the football. Should the Steelers be looking for another wide receiver with three weeks remaining before the regular season starts? Should they be genuinely concerned with the seeming lack of development that Wilson has made so far? We attempt to address both of those questions during this show. Later in this show, Alex and I discuss the Cleveland Browns naming Deshaun Watson as the team's starting quarterback on Monday. This 83-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
