The Indiana Fever's 2024 season has been transformational for the team on the court, in the box office and in the revenue column, in particular with the advent of two major difference-makers. One, of course, is all-star rookie Caitlin Clark, and the other is the rapidly advancing technology that the sales and marketing teams use to entertain—and retain—ticket holders from the Fever's sold-out games in Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Todd Taylor, president of business operations for Pacers Sports & Entertainment, joins the IBJ Podcast this week to detail how the Pacers and Fever are using artificial intelligence and customer data to make potent connections with fans, as well as how the teams expect to be able to use those elements in the future. They can gather data to build customer profiles about attendees and what they enjoy about the experience; customize the communication they receive and when they receive it; and provide personalized offers. In the future, the teams hope to be able recognize where fans are in the fieldhouse at any given time and interact with them digitally. Taylor also explains how PS&E adjusted to the explosion in demand for tickets, how his staff calibrates ticket pricing for a vastly expanded array of options, and how its content creators are feeding the marketing beast. At the beginning of the conversation, Taylor takes us back to early 2024 as the sales and marketing teams began preparing for the very likely possibility that the Fever would draft Clark. It wasn't a foregone conclusion, however, and the department needed to consider other scenarios. Of course, ticket demand eventually skyrocketed, leading to three straight weeks of fielding requests for ticket packages. Staffers must remain flexible as the playoffs progress. For example, they won't know whether there will even be a first-round game in Indy until Wednesday night. The IBJ Podcast is brought to you by Taft.

Host Karen Roberts - https://karenrobertscoaching.com Special Guest Todd Taylor Welcome to another captivating episode of our podcast! In this episode, we have a special guest, Todd Taylor, who is an esteemed business success and mental fitness coach. Todd will be sharing his invaluable insights on the peak performance power process. Todd Taylor is an expert in identifying the saboteurs that hinder personal growth. He takes a process-driven approach, delving into the root causes rather than just addressing the symptoms. By doing so, he helps individuals cultivate new habits and tap into the dormant powers that lie within all of us. Prepare to be inspired as Todd shares his intriguing backstory. From a business venture after high school to discovering his potential in video production and marketing, Todd's journey is filled with valuable lessons. Drawing inspiration from his father's experience in the industry, he ventured into various business ventures, including digital marketing and DVD authoring. He even had the opportunity to work with renowned fitness expert Billy Blanks. Recently, Todd made a transition to coaching, driven by his desire to unlock people's hidden potential. Through his own transformative experience with the Positive Intelligence program, he discovered a powerful tool to address the ten saboteurs that affect our happiness and success. These saboteurs, ingrained survival mechanisms from childhood, often hinder personal growth without our awareness. Todd emphasizes the importance of empowering individuals to shape their future and choose happiness. In this episode, Karen and Todd delve into the concept of saboteurs and sage powers. They highlight the significance of recognizing and addressing negative emotions that we all possess, such as anxiety, stress, anger, or depression. On the flip side, they discuss the sage powers within us, including empathy, curiosity, innovation, navigation, and activation with clear focus. By going through a specific process, individuals can label and anchor their saboteurs, effectively shifting to a sage perspective. This rewiring of neurological pathways enables automatic reactions that move from saboteur to sage, allowing us to discover gifts and opportunities in every situation. To illustrate the power of sage perspective, the hosts share a captivating Chinese fable called the white stallion story. This tale underscores the unpredictability of events and teaches us not to judge whether something is good or bad. It reinforces the idea that there are gifts and opportunities in everything, a key lesson taught by sage perspective. The hosts also discuss the challenge of taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture, rather than getting caught up in the moment's story. They acknowledge that humans are emotional beings, and transitioning from saboteur mode to sage perspective can be difficult. However, they introduce a program that helps individuals develop three core muscles: saboteur interceptor, sage perspective, and self-command (meditation). This combination of mental and physical techniques serves as a pattern interrupt, allowing individuals to be more present and shift their focus from negative to positive. By practicing and changing the neurological pathways in the brain, one can choose their reactions to thoughts and emotions. Throughout the episode, the hosts present scientific evidence supporting the efficacy of the program. They mention MRI scans showing a decrease in gray brain matter in the left quadrant and an increase in the right quadrant, indicating the shift from saboteurs to sage perspective. Over 500,000 people, including CEOs, Stanford students, and Fortune 100 companies, have benefited from this approach, further emphasizing its effectiveness. In summary, this episode explores the power of recognizing and addressing negative emotions, rewiring the brain through specific techniques, and embracing the sage perspective to find gifts and opportunities in every situation. The transformative potential of the discussed program offers a concrete way to improve one's mindset and reactions. But that's not all! In another part of the episode, the hosts dive into the concept of mental fitness and challenge the skeptics who dismiss its effectiveness. Our guest, a marketing professional turned mental fitness coach, shares valuable insights on the recent advancements in brain imaging technology that offer tangible proof of its transformative power. They discuss how these brain scans provide compelling evidence, enabling individuals to witness the impact of mental fitness practices firsthand. By showcasing visible changes within the brain, skeptics are encouraged to reevaluate their perspectives and acknowledge the potential for personal growth. Our guest highlights the relatively young field of mental fitness, which has been in development for just three years. With over four decades of coaching experience, our guest emphasizes the importance of prioritizing mental well-being as a key aspect of overall success. In a world crowded with various coaching specialties, our guest found that mental fitness stands out as a path to true happiness and fulfillment. By focusing on mastering our mental states and effectively managing negative thoughts and emotions, we can unlock our full potential and lead more purposeful lives. Join us as we delve into the profound impact of mental fitness and its ability to empower individuals to take control of their thoughts, emotions, and ultimately, their lives. And that's not all! In the final segment of this episode, the host discusses the importance of living in the present moment and finding fulfillment in it. They shed light on the tendency of hyper-achievers to constantly seek the next goal without fully appreciating their current achievements. In contrast, adopting a sage perspective allows one to savor the beauty and experiences of the present moment, akin to stopping to smell the roses. The hosts recognize the challenges people face in staying present and explain why it has become difficult for society as a whole. They discuss the impact of the digital age and social media, which have affected human connection and hindered true human interaction. They believe that society's shift away from being present is rooted in selfishness. They emphasize the importance of self-love and self-acceptance as prerequisites for selflessness. Striving for perfection is deemed futile, as it does not exist. Instead, the focus should be on constant improvement and growth, embracing the Japanese concept of "kaizen." Todd shares that his coaching services primarily cater to entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized businesses, sales professionals, and C-suite executives. They explain how their coaching program, incorporating sustainability factors, has yielded positive results for clients. From discovering new career paths to finding happiness and experiencing transformative "aha" moments, clients have reaped the benefits. What sets his coaching program apart is its emphasis on sustainability and the development of core muscles. While many coaching programs focus on mindset and belief systems, this program goes further. The simplicity of the techniques used, such as rubbing two fingers together to change perspective, adds to its effectiveness and accessibility. The growing attention to programs to cut greenhouse gas emissions, engage in climate-smart farming and maximize resources is converging on a process that's been around for centuries – bio-based gas. Anaerobic digesters have been put to use on poultry, swine and dairy operations for years putting that gas to work powering electric generators, but now buyers just want the gas. And the Inflation Reduction Act is turning up the heat on the whole idea.Todd Taylor, an attorney with the Minneapolis firm Avisen, is involved with new businesses, and innovations in a range of industries and he has his eye on renewable natural gas. In this episode of Around Farm Progress, he discusses the opportunities ahead and shares why it matters to farmers. A key is that renewable natural gas production is now on the same footing as solar and wind power in the eyes of financial incentive programs focused on renewable energy.

I think one of the riskiest things in the world is to join a big company of which you're never going to or very rarely climb the ranks to the CEO of a Fortune 100 company. And then those folks have to make decisions on teams that they've never met, on macroeconomic movements that you can't control."Brooks on why they started Trident Digital: A lot of people can recognize the promise of the technology. But there's also so much noise around it, and there's a lot of fluff particularly in the up markets. So we thought we could help cut through the noise. And really what we're adding is we're gaining access to opportunities, diligence them, and then we're just... people know they can trust us and are investing with us."How Trident Digital is providing value in the crypto space, says Todd: "The technology is growing, there's a huge opportunity to ride this technological growth but number one, invest with people that have a track record in integrity matters. In Episode 2 of the Persevere Podcast, Patty welcomes Todd Taylor, Checkable Medical's corporate attorney and co-founder and partner of Avisen Legal in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Todd and his team of business lawyers specialize in providing legal services for entrepreneurs and business owners. Todd himself specializes in corporate governance, contracts, and financing.Patty and Todd discuss how business leaders can benefit from quickly developing an open, honest, and trusting relationship with a lawyer. A partnership with a good lawyer who understands the company's goals will help guide all legal decisions of the business and prevent issues from turning into problems. Patty and Todd share stories and relate to some of the common mistakes founders make when establishing a company. They have found that cheap can be expensive; not taking the time to calculate legal decisions can be costly. Both agree taking the time to evaluate decisions with your lawyer will pay off for the company in the long run.Patty opens up about her experience in fundraising for Checkable Medical and her past ventures. She has feared low valuations and dilution but has gained great perspectives and confidence from Todd. Todd has seen companies fold because they chose not to accept money, so he coaches entrepreneurs to not worry about dilution as much as what can be done with the money raised. Funds raised can lead to faster increases in company valuation. In Patty's case, funds raised for Checkable Medical helped her hire a great team, thus increasing output and company valuation. You can visit Avisen Legal's website at avisenlegal.com and contact Todd at 612-325-5036 or ttaylor@avisenlegal.com.

Hello and welcome to REPLY ALT, the best email newsletter about music in the entire world which is also sometimes a podcast—the best podcast in the entire world. Today it’s a podcast.Sometimes I will spend a few hours preparing for an interview so that I will pass as someone who at least wields some vague sense of what the fuck they’re talking about. Sometimes, if I’m being honest, I will be cramming my prep in at the very last minute. But talking to today’s guest is something I feel like I’ve been preparing for my entire life. Kevin Devine played in the first band (or at least among the first bands) I ever saw perform way back in… 1997? Like me, Kevin grew up on Staten Island, New York, and cut his teeth playing at local spots there, particularly a DIY hall called The Joint, which hosted all-ages shows every Friday night. Kevin and I talked a lot about growing up with that background and how the blue-collar punk scene on Staten Island was drastically different than the more respected one happening just a ferry ride away in Manhattan. We both agreed that it instilled in us a small-town mentality that still informs how we operate within the music industry today. Will this incredibly niche subject be interesting to anyone who grew up outside the tri-state area? I don’t know! Not my business! We talked about a few non-Shaolin topics as well—the path his career has taken since his Miracle of 86 days (and his Delusion days, if we want to go really far back), as well as Nirvana and tips for cutting your own hair during the paindemic.Kevin has a new EP out called No One’s Waiting Up For Me Tonight in which he delivers more of the familiar, comforting sounds I’ve enjoyed from him over the last 20+ years. I guess we should have talked about that but we didn’t. Again, not my problem!!Oh, and we mentioned a 1998 show at which Kevin’s band played an outdoor skate demo. I will embarrass him by including that video below. Listen to the episode to hear the story behind his incredibly baggy pants! (The story is that baggy pants were cool as heck back then. Really not much of a story now that I think about it.)(The above photo was taken by Erik Tanner.)Also, a housekeeping note for dedicated REPLT ALTers: If you ordered a zine, the last batch of them shipped out on Friday morning. Hopefully they will arrive to you safely.Check out previous REPLY ALT episodes with Laura Stevenson, Jonah Ray, Sarah Tudzin [Illuminati Hotties], David Anthony, Chris Farren, Lauren Denitzio [Worriers], Todd Taylor [Razorcake], and Jenny Owen Youngs. They’re all on Spotify and Apple for your listening displeasure.Follow me on all the internet stuff.Twitter | Instagram | Website Get full access to REPLY ALT at danozzi.substack.com/subscribe
Hello and welcome to another edition of REPLY ALT, the only newsletter about music ever to exist. Thanks to everyone who bought a copy of the zine I put on sale last week. They sold out way, wayyyy faster than I’d expected, so apologies if you didn’t get one but my insecurity rendered me incapable of printing literally a single copy more than I did. Today’s newsletter is once again a podcast. Please see previous episodes with Jonah Ray, Sarah Tudzin [Illuminati Hotties], David Anthony, Chris Farren, Lauren Denitzio [Worriers], Todd Taylor [Razorcake], and Jenny Owen Youngs. They’re all on Spotify and Apple for your listening pleasure.Today’s guest is the one of the most talented songwriters currently walking the earth, Laura Stevenson. We talked a bit about settling into motherhood, songwriting, shitty haircuts, and growing up on Long Island. We also spitballed the premise for an Encino Man sequel entitled Ensequel Man (Hollywood producers, get at us! We can literally have a draft done by this afternoon!). Since it’s getting an expanded reissue this year, we also did a little reminiscing about her 2011 album Sit Resist, which I once listed as one of my ten favorite albums of the last decade.Laura writes such beautifully intricate music, but I do worry that it gets lost that she is also equally hilarious. I remember seeing her in Baltimore years ago and the crowd was pin-drop silent as she performed one of her many intensely vulnerable songs about the imperfections of the human condition. Then, after she finished and everyone applauded, she said, “Thank you, that was an ICP song.” So I hope her humor comes through here!OK stop reading and start listening!Oh, and also, I always usually like to use my own photos for REPLY ALT but since I couldn’t find any of Laura and me that were not thoroughly embarrassing and unfit for internet consumption, she sent me the above photo, as taken by Em Dubin.Oh, and also also, I routinely give Laura’s NPR Tiny Desk concert a rewatch. So intimate and so lovely. And while pregnant! If you haven’t seen…Listen to Laura Stevenson.Follow me on all the internet stuff.Twitter | Instagram | Website Get full access to REPLY ALT at danozzi.substack.com/subscribe
Jonah Ray, photo by me.Welcome to REPLY ALT, the world’s only newsletter about music. Today’s edition is once again a podcast. Please see previous episodes with: Sarah Tudzin [Illuminati Hotties], David Anthony, Chris Farren, Lauren Denitzio [Worriers], Todd Taylor [Razorcake], and Jenny Owen Youngs. They’re also available on streaming services like Spotify and Apple and all that. Oh and subscribe to REPLY ALT if you don’t already for some god unknown reason!Today’s newsletter/podcast is an interview with Jonah Ray. You may Jonah from… well, a lot of things, actually. That was a theme in much of our chat—making something of yourself in our hellish gig economy. Because why have one big job when you can have 65 smaller gigs, baby! (Thanks, boomers!) Jonah is an actor, a comedian, a musician, and, most importantly, a paid subscriber to REPLY ALT. He has been the host of the revived Mystery Science Theater, co-hosted The Meltdown with Kumail Nanjiani, hosted the podcast Jonah Raydio (on which I have been a guest), and once starred in a Bing commercial.Jonah and I had a really good chat about trying to impress our parents with our “careers” in the arts (which we determined is a waste of time), growing up and going to punk shows in Hawaii, finding the backdoors to success, and his band in which he covers Weird Al songs. This is a good one!Follow me on all the internet stuff.Twitter | Instagram | Website Get full access to REPLY ALT at danozzi.substack.com/subscribe
In this episode, I talk more about creativity as a knowledge-producing activity. Today’s newsletter is once again a podcast. Please see previous episodes with: Sarah Tudzin [Illuminati Hotties], Chris Farren, Lauren Denitzio [Worriers], Todd Taylor [Razorcake], and Jenny Owen Youngs. They’re available on Spotifies and Apples and all that. Oh and subscribe to REPLY ALT!If you were a listener of my old podcast, No Plus Ones, you will be familiar with today’s guest, David Anthony. But did you know that David also has an entire life outside the podcast? It’s true! In addition to being my former co-host, he is the former editor of The AV Club, a current newsletter writer, and current co-host of the Alkaline Trio-themed podcast, As You Were (along with Tim Crisp of the recently relaunched Better Yet).I attempted to make this an episode wherein listeners got to know David a little better. And for a while we did that—discussing his first childhood memory (puking in a McDonald’s) and his worst job (teenage fireworks store employee). But then wouldn’t you know it, we started ranting about the state of music journalism and weighed in on the recent chatter about the possibility of writer-owned and operated cooperative websites. Unsurprisingly, I took the pessimistic view that they sound nice in theory but are unlikely to work in the long run.So, to everyone who has asked me to bring back No Plus Ones, this episode is for you three people. The boys are back in town!!! Get full access to REPLY ALT at danozzi.substack.com/subscribe

Hello and welcome to REPLY ALT, the only/best email newsletter about music. Sorry I haven’t updated in a few days. I’ve been busy stockpiling a few audio interviews for your listening displeasure. I have a freakin delightful interview running in a few days with the musician who made my favorite album of the summer, a super secret project that you perhaps caught me ominously tweeting about the other day. It’s a wild record with a wild story behind it. In the meantime, I bring you this new interview today about zines. Enjoy! Todd Taylor founded Razorcake in 2001 after working for five years at the longrunning Los Angeles zine Flipside. Since then, he has turned it into a punk rock institution. The non-profit Razorcake has churned out over 100 issues full of interviews, reviews, and comics, as well as the podcasts and videos hosted on its website. At only fifteen bucks a subscription, it is easily one of the best deals in punk. (Get a Razorcake subscription if you don’t already have one!)Todd and I had a socially distanced chat yesterday about the work that goes into publishing an independent zine out of one’s home, the arduous process of applying for non-profit status, the genius of Nardwuar, helpful tips for conducting insightful interviews, advice on writing effective record reviews, and why he painted his house the color of Pepto Bismol.P.S. Sorry if our levels sound off. The next episode is very even and crystal clear, I promise!Follow me on all the internet stuff.Twitter | Instagram | Website Get full access to REPLY ALT at danozzi.substack.com/subscribe

Thank you for listening to the final episode of our U.S. Disaster Relief mini-series. In this four-part special, Kristy Graham has taken you to Chattanooga, TN; Seneca, SC; Monroe, LA; and now, Laurel, MS. In this interview we talk to Gross Polluter, who used to be Smogtown. They answer a bunch of questions, such as: What happens when you look in a mirror and it no longer shows a drug-accelerated, youthful punk kid hell-bent on destroying suburbia? and What happens when you live in a neighborhood that’s so apolitical, when they talk of presidents, they’re talking of CEOs?
This Easter weekend, a devastating storm system ripped through the Southeast. In this week’s “In the News” episode, Kristy Graham sheds light on how Samaritan’s Purse North American Ministries is responding in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Listen to the phone call between Kristy and Todd Taylor, an experienced U.S. Disaster Relief manager, to … Continue reading "Ep. 18: In the News – Tornadoes in the South"
Images of the Masque, Black Flag, Chinatown, the Circle Jerks, the Olympic Auditorium, and The Decline of the Western Civilization spring to mind when I think of the crucial moments in the early L.A punk and hardcore scene. The one person who links these diverse and disparate scenes is vocalist Keith Morris. You can’t tell the complete story of L.A. punk without him.
Sweet Knives began as a Lost Sounds reboot, playing Alicja’s songs. When Alicja, Rich, and John Garland got back together, they quickly realized that they didn’t want to be restricted to solely being a cover band of their old band. They still play with the arcing, tense, dirty-crackle lightning of Lost Sounds, but are also writing new songs that reflect where they are now.
Todd Taylor is something else. I can’t think of anyone else in this world that does what he does. He’s an anomoly. A rare thing in a world that is filled with bullshit and bullshiters. We talk and talk and talk. Every time I think about Todd I smile. That’s a huge endorsement. Did I spell that right? Ok. I love Todd, listen and get to know him. It’s well worth it.
