For some sports on the Olympic program, it's easy to understand how they evolved: Swim fast, run fast, jump high, score a goal. But sports like artistic swimming? Where did that come from? On this episode of the podcast, we talk with Vicki Valosik, author of Swimming Pretty: The Untold Story of Women in Water, who delved deep in to the world of synchronized swimming to discover its roots--and along the way, she found much more. The book is a treasure trove of rabbit holes, from the connection Benjamin Franklin had to the sport, to water-based lifesaving techniques used by the military. Vicki dives into the lives of the sport's pioneer Annette Kellerman and movie star Esther Williams as she traces the history of the sport from its earliest days to the Olympic stage. You can find out more about Vicki Valosik at her website. Follow her on Insta, Facebook, and X! Also on today's episode, Zeus the horse from the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony is now at Versailles for an exhibit. In Melbourne, someone's created another statue--of infamous breaking athlete Raygun. It's just 500 days to go until the Milan-Cortina 2026 Paralympics! In other Milan-Cortina 2026 news, Poste Italliane has signed on as a sponsor, and the organizing committee announced the producers of the ceremonies and torch relay. Plus, LA 2028 may be more of a US Games than we thought, and there's some cool legacy news out of Tokyo. Milan-Cortina will be a regional Games, and LA 2028 may turn out to be that way too. We already know that softball and canoe slalom will be held in Oklahoma City, and now cricket may also take place outside of Southern California. We also have updates from TKFLASTANIs: Para triathlete Grace Norman Sprinter Kenny Bednarek Sled hockey player Monica Quimby Para swimmer Olivia Chambers Race walker Evan Dunfee We'll be at the Olympin show in Atlanta on November 8-10. We hope you are spending your time with the ones you love and love to play games with!! Thank you for the dl and listen. Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World with Michelle & Scott
Episode 93 - Using Tarot as a Self-Discovery Tool In this episode, Michelle and Scott discuss "Using Tarot as a Self-Discovery Tool." Many think of Tarot simply as a fortune-telling activity. However, the cards are built upon an amazing symbolism and archetypal structure that allows them to be used as a personality test, a projective device, and a method for conveying emotions, challenges, and circumstances. Here are some of the decks we mentioned in this episode: Pagan Otherworlds by uusi https://uusi.us/products/pagan-otherworlds-tarot Medieval Tarot by Card Shark based on the Mittelalter Tarot (not currently available) Rider-Waite by US Games (see on Amazon) Tarot de Marseille (see on Amazon) Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World is a podcast hosted by Michelle Post, MA, LMFT and Scott Grossberg, Esq., CLC, CCH, NLP and is 45 minutes of raw, irreverent, and results-oriented discussion with one purpose in mind . . . to help you cope, thrive, and survive the craziness that's going on in the world.

This week, a little late, I am discussing the wonderful Activision game Pressure Cooker, by Garry Kitchen. If you haven't played this one, you really owe it to yourself to try it. Coming up next is Gopher by US Games. It's not about the Ship's Purser on The Love Boat, but that would probably be a cool game. Also, please don't forget the contest Doug is sponsoring to win a PlusCart that he made! There have been a lot of entries so far, I hope to get more. Our favorite jet-setting tarotista, Mary K Greer, takes some time out of her busy schedule to chat with Rose Red and Jaymi. Mary's a very busy instructor in 2018. She'll be teaching at PantheaCon, and at the now sold out Readers Studio in New York. She'll be traveling back to China to teach at least twice more. And she's running a wonderful tour of Britain and Scotland with her “Tarot Magic in Merlin's Britain and Scotland” program. (Sign up by the end of November 2017 to secure your spot!) Mary also gives us many tales about Pamela Coleman Smith, as she is in the process of writing a book with US Games, Inc. about the artist extraordinaire herself. This book is due out in 2018, as well. The girls have decided that Mary is welcome to tell more tales at any time!

L*I*V*E Readings ... connect or call in to receive a reading L*I*V*E on the air during the show with HiC and Charlie ! Join Charlie & HiC as they welcome special guest, RYAN EDWARD. Cartomancy (the telling of fortunes with a deck of cards) is an ancient tradition that has metamorphosed over the centuries into things like Tarot, Lenormand, Playing Cards, and more. This month's guest, Ryan Edward, is creating his contribution to this old tradition, taking the traditional system into the future. Ryan Edward is an art director and designer living in Saint Louis, Missouri. Proudly labeled a 'student' he began studying cards shy of four years ago under the guise of an art project. Of which the past two he studies under Camelia Elias from Denmark, practicing Lenormand, Playing Cards, Marseille and the occasional folk magic. His first deck, 'The Maybe Lenormand' is set to be published by US Games. With a few other projects underway, he is enjoying finding inspiration in older folk traditions of cartomancy, playing around with the Tarot de Marseille, among others. For now, you can find him on Facebook until his site is live in October.

This episode is about Submarine Commander (the last Sears exclusive on this show), and one of my childhood favorites, Video Pinball (both by Atari). Be sure to stick around to hear me ramble for quite some time about playing pinball as a kid. Next week I'll be talking about Cross Force and Tapeworm by Spectravision. Upcoming games include Word Zapper and Commando Raid by US Games; Asteroids and Berzerk by Atari; Mousetrap by Coleco and Ladybug by John Champeau, Blackjack, Casino, and Slot Machine by Atari; and Yar's Revenge and Haunted House, also by Atari. Send your feedback on these games or any game I've already covered to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net, and I'll read or play it on the show. Thanks for listening everyone, see you next week. This week's episode is about the CommaVid carts Magicard and Video Life. It was a tough one, I really don't possess a basic understanding of programming (Magicard) or elementary science (Video Life), not to mention that I was off for three weeks and was out of the habit of my usual procrastination, which turned it into unusual procrastination. I hope that you will forgive me and enjoy the episode anyway, I did get some good feedback which as always saves the show. Next week I'll be talking about Submarine Commander and Video Pinball by Atari. Video Pinball is one of my favorites. Upcoming games include Cross Force and Tape Worm by Spectravision; Word Zapper and Commando Raid by US Games; Asteroids and Berzerk by Atari; Mousetrap by Coleco and Ladybug by John Champeau, and Blackjack, Casino, and Slot Machine by Atari. This week I talk about two more of Sega's Atari 2600 games, Thunderground and Star Trek: Strategic Operations Simulator. I found both of them to be fun to play. Next episode will not be out until June 4, I am taking a few weeks off. That will be MagiCard and Video Life by CommaVid. The MagiCard manual is horribly long and complicated, so the extra time will be nice. Upcoming games include Submarine Commander and Video Pinball by Atari; Cross Force and Tape Worm by Spectravision; Word Zapper and Commando Raid by US Games; Asteroids and Berzerk by Atari; and Mousetrap by Coleco and Ladybug by John Champeau. I'm including this homebrew (first one!) because it was slated to be released by Coleco but wasn't, and Champeau later released a great port of the game. So if you have any stories or memories of any of these games, please send them to me at 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. This week I look at half of the Absolute Entertainment games, Title Match Pro Wrestling and Skateboardin.' Next week on the show I will be covering Pac-Man! A very polarizing game for sure. I already have quite a few emails for that show, I would love to hear what you think (and thought!) about this game. In the coming weeks I'll be doing MagiCard and Video Life by CommaVid; Submarine Commander and Video Pinball by Atari; Thunderground and Star Trek by Sega; Asteroids and Berzerk by Atari; Cross Force and Tapeworm by Spectravision, and Word Zapper and Commando Raid by US Games. This week's episode makes me wonder why the heck I took on this project in the first place. It was a rough week, the Stellar Track manual kicked my butt. Like Beavis said, you gotta have stuff that sucks if you wanna have stuff that's cool. Genius. Next week should be better, it will be Atlantis and Star Voyager by Imagic! Upcoming games include Space Jockey and Sneak n Peek by US Games, Basic Programming and Video Olympics by Atari, Skiing and Bridge by Activision, Breakout and Home Run by Atari, and Encounter at L5 and Warplock by Data Age. I'd love for you to send me your stories about these games, I read all of the submissions on the show! Send them to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. As always, thanks so much for listening! It's episode 20 and I'm talking about 20th Century Fox games for the first time. I wish I was smart enough to have planned that. Today's games are Worm War 1 and Beany Bopper, both really fun games, I hope you had a chance to try them out. Next week will be Atari's Stellar Track and 3D Tic Tac Toe. Stellar Track is a text adventure on the 2600, so that should be totally awesome! Upcoming games include Star Voyager and Atlantis by Imagic, Space Jockey and Sneak n Peek by US Games, Basic Programming and video Olympics by Atari, and Skiing and Bridge by Activision. Any stories or memories you have of these games can be sent to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net, and I'll read it on the show. Thanks so much for listening, see you next time!
