Coach Miles Lester shares his journey from growing up in Kansas to becoming a PWO who earned a scholarship at Rice before transferring as a PWO at Wake Forest who earned a scholarship during his senior year - and now is currently a Graduate Assistant for Coach Kelvin Sampson's Houston Cougars. Lester moved to Wilbraham, Massachusetts in high school where he was a stand out basketball player and as a senior was named All-New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Honorable Mention. He decided to attend Rice - where he would start five of the 29 games he played in for the Owls. After his freshman season he transferred to Wake Forest to play for Kansas legend Danny Manning. He gave up a scholarship at Rice to be a Preferred Walk-On for Wake Forest and had to sit out during the 2018-19 season due to the NCAA Transfer rules. During his time in Wake Forest he played for Coach Manning and then his final two seasons were under Coach Steve Forbes. Miles was a Team Assistant during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas before landing a Graduate Assistant at The University of Houston. A veteran hospitality operator and entrepreneur, Kevin Cox has opened more than seventy restaurants within the urban and suburban markets of New York, Los Angeles, and New Jersey. After a short stint in commercial real estate, Kevin found his home in the hospitality industry with Umami Burger. In less than three years, Kevin wore many hats as Umami grew into one of the most popular restaurant groups in Southern California with ten locations, as well as launching; LA's first nouveau “Food Hall” Umamicatessen, multiple CPG SKUs under the Umami brand, 800 Degrees Pizza (now a nationwide chain), and the infamous Red Medicine in Beverly Hills. Invigorated by the opportunity to recreate Umami's success, Kevin partnered with The Clarke's Group in NYC, to expand the footprint of their flagship brand PJ Clarke's and launch a QSR off-shoot. He led the acquisition and repositioning of the Goodburger chain into Clarke's Standard. In recent years, Kevin has focused on his consulting business 310hospitality, working with a robust roster of clients both regionally and nationally, including Brother Jimmy's BBQ Group, Plan Check Restaurants, The Wine Bar Group, and Atlantic Stars Hospitality. Born in Springfield, Sheila attended Wilbraham schools and graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School in 1986. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Emerson College. Sheila had many talents. She became nationally ranked traveling across the country as part of her college debating team. She spent a semester touring Europe and visited India, Greece and Canada. After college, Sheila pursued her career in the entertainment business, working in Boston and eventually New York City. She worked her way up to Costume Supervisor for many movies and television shows, including many years at Law and Order, Criminal Intent. Her final employment was as Supervisor for Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. This earned her two Emmy nominations as part of the Costume Team headed by Donna Zakowska. Eventually, Sheila settled in Richmond, close to the beaches that she loved so much. Sheila was active in the Richmond community where she was elected to the School Committee. She is survived by the "Light of her life" and her greatest accomplishment, her 12 year old daughter, her devoted parents, her husband, brother, beloved step daughters, granddaughter and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Sheila's family would like to thank her "Mrs. Maisel work crew" who never forgot her during her battle with cancer. Also, the caring staff at South County Cancer Center, especially Dr. Taber. It's January 2020 and the start of a new year. The general election is over, Brexit is on-course for delivery in January and the upcoming twelve months will be fascinating for infrastructure. Italferr S.p.A. is responsible for delivering the EUR 6.2 billion Napoli-Bari railway, part of the Trans European Network set to shorten travel times by several hours in the south east of Italy. In response to challenges that included complex geology, hazardous terrain, and complicated tunnel configurations along its route, Italferr needed interoperable modeling applications to optimize collaboration and coordination among the multiple disciplines and stakeholders involved. Using Bentley technology it implemented a lifecycle BIM approach incorporating digital twins to deliver improved visibility, insight, and efficiency throughout the entire design and build process.
