262# The Final Experiment | 24 hour Sun In December 2024, Will Duffy, a pastor from Colorado, organized "The Final Experiment," aiming to conclusively address the debate over Earth's shape. The experiment involved an expedition to Antarctica to observe the 24-hour sun, a phenomenon that aligns with a spherical Earth but challenges flat Earth models. John Calvin's Calvinism: God is the Author of Sin

Bob Enyart Live

* Duffy Challenges Producer Lanphere about Freedom to Sin: Will Duffy pointed out to Les Lanphere, the producer of the film Calvinist, that by the doctrines of Calvinism, men are not even free to sin. So he asked the producer, Does your film admit that Calvinism teaches that man is not free to sin? After all, John Calvin himself taught that men can only sin by divine decree and that they are unable to sin in any way other than how God decreed that they would commit each of their sins. Of course, Calvinists like Lanphere happily argue that men do not have free will, nor the freedom to choose God, nor the freedom to do right. Simultaneously though, they avoid discussion of the Calvinist teaching that men are also not free to sin, either. By Calvinist philosophy, men have no freedom to choose evil, or one sin over another sin, or to do anything outside of the divine decree. And because the eternal divine decree allegedly includes every thought, every desire, every action, and the history of every bit of matter, therefore by Calvinism men are not free to do good, nor to sin, and they can only do the wicked and perverse things that, before they were even conceived, they were decreed to do. (When Calvinists reply, Yes, but men sin just as they desire to, of course, by Calvinist philosophy, those men were unalterably created to desire and to commit the specific sins that they commit.) Lanphere responded but by avoiding the substance of Will's challenge. (Hear this at 16:30 into today's program and click here for Part 2 of today's program.) * Ask a Calvinist, What Prevents a Man from Sinning Differently from God's Decrees? Will presents his second question to Lanphere (at 18 minutes into today's program) that likewise exposes the perversion of Calvinist doctrine. What prevents a man from sinning differently from God's decrees? Their only answer: God. By the corruption of Calvinist doctrine, the only thing that prevents a man from sinning other than how God decreed that he would sin is that divine decree itself. In duplicity when pressed, Calvinist will sometimes deny this. Then asking, "So you don't believe that God has decreed everything?", usually demonstrates their obfuscation. So if eternally decreed to rape a victim, they cannot instead murder that victim, and if decreed to murder, they cannot instead rape. (At 21 minutes into today's program, here this in audio from Reformed theologian James White.) Calvinism is not merely wrong. It is sinful, and brings reproach upon the holiness of God, trading away God's qualitative for His quantitative attributes, trading His goodness and love for how much change, how much knowledge, etc. (the OMNIs and IMs.) * Today's Calvinist Film: Bob Enyart and Will Duffy discuss Lanphere's film Calvinist with audio from the movie and quotes from John Calvin himself. Calvin rejected the claim that God only permits wickedness and insisted that God is the author of sin. Now in heaven, he knows otherwise. The film however quotes still-living Calvinists who haven't learned as much as their namesake. From Paul Washer and R. C. Sproul (father of RCS Jr. who denies that God the Son took upon Himself a human nature), the film presents these comments, not to highlight their error, but affirmatively: - "From the time a child in the United States enters kindergarten, he begins to be taught... a particular understanding of the nature of man, this concept of free will, that man is free to choose the good or evil, on either side. That's a blasphemous doctrine." (Like D. James Kennedy's N.T. prof in debate with Enyart, Sproul confuses "ability to accomplish" with one's "ability to decide") - "The greatest heresy in the American, evangelical, and Protestant church is that if you pray and ask Jesus to come into your heart, He will definitely come in." (Calvinism denies the Bible's repeated teaching that one must believe to be saved, for by it's convoluted human reasoning it teaches the reverse, that you can't believe until after you are saved.) "Yes, they can be saved. Regardless though, Calvinists are intellectual reprobates." -B.E. * God is the Author of Sin according to these Quotes from John Calvin, Institutes Book One, Chapter 18: All Calvinists (including Matt Slick) concerned with defending God's holiness should repudiate these tragic claims by John Calvin from Chapter 18 which begins on page 228: [Of] the Works of the Ungodly [God] Bends their Minds To Carry Out His Judgments. Chapter 18 Section 1: "No mere 'permission'"! "And now I have already shown plainly enough that God is called the Author of all the things that these faultfinders would have happen only by his indolent [lazy] permission." [That is, Calvin tragically but explicitly claims here that God is the "Author" of sin. Every obfuscating Calvinist should be asked to repudiate John Calvin's this teaching on this.] "Therefore they escape by the shift that this is done only with God's permission, not also by his will..." "However, that men can accomplish nothing except by God's secret command, that they cannot by deliberating accomplish anything except what he has already decreed with himself and determines by his secret direction, is proved by innumerable and clear testimonies." "If the blinding and insanity of Ahab be God's judgment, the figment of bare permission vanishes: because it would be ridiculous for the Judge only to permit what he wills to be done, and not also to decree it and to command its execution by his ministers." "Therefore, whatever men or Satan himself may instigate, God nevertheless holds the key, so that he turns their efforts to carry out his judgments." "man does by God's just impulsion what he ought not to do" "Great are God's works, sought out in all his wills” [Ps. 111: 2; cf. Ps. 110: 2, Vg.]; so that in a wonderful and ineffable manner nothing is done without God's will, not even that which is against his will." "For it is easy to dispose of their first objection, that if nothing happens apart from God's will, there are in him two contrary wills, because by his secret plan he decrees what he has openly forbidden by his law." "not because he would teach impious and obstinate men to obey him willingly, but because he will bend them to execute his judgments, as if they bore his commandments graven upon their hearts; from this it appears that they had been impelled by God's sure determination. I confess, indeed, that it is often by means of Satan's intervention that God acts in the wicked, but in such a way that Satan performs his part by God's impulsion and advances as far as he is allowed." "As far as pertains to those secret promptings we are discussing, Solomon's statement that the heart of a king is turned about hither and thither at God's pleasure [Prov. 21: 1] certainly extends to all the human race, and carries as much weight as if he had said: “Whatever we conceive of in our minds is directed to his own end by God's secret inspiration." "Yet from these it is more than evident that they babble and talk absurdly who, in place of God's providence, substitute bare permission— as if God sat in a watchtower awaiting chance events, and his judgments thus depended upon human will." * And from chapter 16: "Hence we maintain that, by his providence, not heaven and earth and inanimate creatures only, but also the counsels and wills of men are so governed as to move exactly in the course which he has destined." * It's Been Said: "If Calvinism is true, then love cannot exist. If love exists, then Calvinism cannot be true."* Warren McGrew Said: Find at kgov.com/warren-mcgrew that Calvinism claims, "There's a perfect amount of evil."  Uh-huh. * Dom's Been Heard Sayin': "No theology makes less of man being made in God's likeness than Calvinism", Dominic Enyart once said to his dear-ole' dad. He's also pointed out that in the Scriptures God utterly abhors the person who brings another person to do evil. Yet this wickedness is what Calvinism pins on God. Not surprisingly then, Dodge is the official car of Calvinists in debate. Dom also observes, "One of the main reasons why Calvinists are legalists is because they argue that faith and works are the same thing. When a Calvinist denies that if you believe you will be saved by claiming that faith itself is a work, they are not only disagreeing with Scripture, they are contributing to legalism. They argue that by total depravity the unsaved cannot believe for salvation. They claim, rather, an elect person must first be regenerated in order to believe. Otherwise, they claim, absurdly, you are being saved by works, because if you need faith to be saved, then that is a work. However faith and works are not the same thing. So Christians should not be surprised that Calvinists, blurring the distinction between faith and works, tend to be legalists." * Toy Refutes Calvinism: For those who have been told that everything occurs by God's eternal decree, thus making Him the author of every thought and word, consider the gibberish on a product imported from China. This toy, with its confused imprinted warning refutes Calvinism for all those who accept the Bible's teaching at 1 Corinthians 14:33 which states that, "God is not the author of confusion." The helicopter blade says, "WARNING: If blade damage, don't be fly, otherwise it will create the human body or blame damage."  * Vegas Mass Shooting Today: Our hearts go out to all those suffering in Las Vegas. Today's program was pre-produced for the launch of the film Calvinist. Undoubtedly, because of his superstition masquerading as theology, the producer of Calvinist must have wondered why America's deadliest mass shooting was decreed to occur on the same day as his long-planned premiere. Update: Bob Enyart conducted an unauthorized, off-the-record interview with a Mandalay Bay employee who was there during the massacre to discuss the absurd conspiracy theorist claims like the FBI wiped the phones of the concertgoers (what, all 20 thousand of them?), that there were multiple shooters, that the government was somehow behind the mass murder, and even that concertgoers were being illegally held by FBI agents inside of the casino. See also, kgov.com/conspiracy-theorists (all of which, of course, was decreed in the mind of God from eternity past if the above craziness were true).

End of Duffy vs. Borns Debate; Six Misconceptions

Bob Enyart Live

Today Bob wraps up his commentary on the debate between Will Duffy and CJ Borns, "Is Open Theism Biblical?" Hear on today's show Duffy's closing statement which was one of the greatest closing statements in the history of debate. Then Bob goes through the six main misconceptions about time (which can be found at kgov.com/time). Misconception 6: Unchanging omniscience could tell time: Unchanging omniscience is a contradiction. Some knowledge cannot be held statically, including something as simple as the current date and time. Even if such a deity knew Earth's entire history moment by moment, He would have no way of knowing what time it is right now to us creatures, including what day it is, the month and year. The concept of divine static knowledge is defective. One can know the script of a stage show, but to know at what point the cast is at in a performance requires a different kind of knowledge that cannot even theoretically be held statically. It is a trivial matter for created human beings to know which act and scene a performance is at in a play, or what is the date. The absurdity though of atemporality is demonstrated in that such trivial information is unattainable for an unchanging omniscience. This realization enables theologians to build a list of things that our dynamic and free God can know but that an unchanging deity could never know. For example, if the classical description of God held by Calvinists and Arminians were true, that He has unchanging knowledge, here is a tiny list of the almost infinite things that such a God could not know: - How many hairs are on your head (right now, that is). - What time it is. What day it is. What month it is. - What year it is. What century it is. Whether it's AD or BC. - How long has it been since creation and since the flood. - How long has it been since the cross (or maybe the cross is yet future). - How long until the Second Coming. - How many people are in your family. - How many people have died and how many are still living on Earth. - How many miles on your car and how full your gas tank is. - Etc. (i.e., add a billion things unknowable to immutable knowledge). Today's Resource: Predestination & Free Will SeminarSo much is at stake when people consider predestination and free will. Strong emotions often surface with a discussion of this topic. That passion points to our critical need to understand the truth regarding whether or not God has predetermined who will go to heaven and who will go to hell. Also, the question of whether or not God has planned out each person's life affects us. Does God have a plan for your life? Does a blueprint exist for your future? Did God predetermine whether or not you would get married, and to whom? Did God plan whether you would be wealthy or poor, happy or sad? If God does plan your life, does He do so in minute detail or in general themes? If God has a plan for your life, are you able to alter that plan? This topic directly influences people concerning how they live their lives. As Christians, we must seek God to accurately portray the LORD to others. For any misrepresentation of God will dishonor Him and perhaps bring harm to those misled. You can now order the seminar video in a 3-DVD set or MP4 video download.

That's incompetent, irrelevant, and immaterial, impassible, impeccable, and immutable!

* Jesus: Fully God and fully man so fully free! Was Jesus able to sin? Of course. Otherwise, He could not be fully man, and He could not be tempted, and His righteousness would not be praiseworthy, and He could not love, because love must be freely given. But He became fully man, and He was tempted, and He is praiseworthy, and He does love. So, the answer is, yes. Bob continues broadcasting the cross examination of Will Duffy during the recent debate Is Open Theism Biblical, and notes that when a Calvinist challenges open theist testimony from Scripture by asking if it would contradict God being "impassible, impeccable, and immutable", one could hear district attorney Hamilton Burger objecting as he did in a 1960s courtroom drama, that this line of questioning was "incompetent, irrelevant, and immaterial." For not the "living God" but a stone idol is impassible, impeccable, and immutable. Also, consider that folks have a difficulty discerning between time and the measurement of time. So too many have difficulty comprehending the difference bewteen the future as a concept and a moment in the future. The concept of the future doesn't change but what may or may not happen in any particular moment in the future is open. So too with truth. The concept of truth doesn't change, whereas whether a particular statement is true or false (like, "breakfast is served") of course can change. Open theists though frequently encounter these kinds of easily avoided misconceptions. * Incompetent, irrelevant, and immaterial; impassible, impeccable, and immutable: When a Calvinist challenges open theist testimony from Scripture by asking if it would contradict God being "impassible, impeccable, and immutable", one could hear district attorney Hamilton Burger objecting as he did in a 1960s courtroom drama, that this line of questioning was "incompetent, irrelevant, and immaterial." For not the "living God" but a stone idol is impassible, impeccable, and immutable. * Clarifying Terms Future & Truth: Just as folks have a difficulty discerning between time and the measurement of time, so too many have difficulty comprehending the difference bewteen the future as a concept and a moment in the future. * Bob Enyart's Life's Work - The Plot: All stories have a plot. The main story line in a narrative forms the plot. Millions of books, including historical texts, cannot be understood apart from recognizing the plot, getting to know the characters, and learning the setting. The setting refers to the backdrop for the action, when and where, in time and space, the action occurs. Does the Bible have a plot? * Read, Listen, or Share with Kids: You can: - read Bob's best-selling book The Plot or download it as a PDF - listen to the Plot Seminar  via instant download or on MP3 CD - listen to the entire set of all five of Bob's Plot Bible Study Albums, or - share The Plot Boys with Bible students of all ages! - check out Chapter 1 of The Plot online. You'll love this powerful teaching through Scripture as you see that the overview of the Bible really is the only valid key to its details! And of course, by purchasing any of these Bible resources, you'll be supporting our online and broadcast outreach for another year! * Learning from the Plot: Most Bible students readily agree with this basic plot of the Bible.  Yet within the structure of this plot lies the key to understanding almost all of the major disputes that divide Christians. * Stories Often Deliver Morals: "The moral of the story is," ends many anecdotes.  A typical morality tale attempts to teach a good lesson, but the story itself is fictitious.  The Bible presents its message through the vehicle of a true story (although it does of course contain parables).  To understand the moral of a story, one must understand the story itself.  Misunderstanding the story by missing the plot or a vital plot twist makes it difficult to ascertain the moral of the story.  How can someone see all the details in a murky big picture? God informs men that His Word has a plot, and that plot twists possibly may occur.  Thus Bible students must remain alert when reading the Bible for the major steps of the plot and the plot twists.Ignoring the Plot: Ten big doctrinal debates divide millions of believers.  Attempting to resolve all ten questions by traditional means is a daunting task.  Is there one root cause for all ten disagreements?  Does a common theological thread tie these ten seemingly unrelated doctrines together? If all ten disputes derive from one fundamental cause, might there then be a single solution to these questions?  Imagine resolving all ten disputes with one simple biblical fact found in one single verse based on the overall plot of the Bible.  If such a fact exists which alone could solve all ten disputes, imagine how crucial that Bible idea would be.  However, ignoring the Bible's big picture consigns these disputes to irreconcilable differences. A young political observer once wondered why American conservatives and liberals separated themselves so distinctly along opposing ideas.  Consider these generalities: Left-Wingers Right-Wingers Support welfare Oppose welfare Support foreign aid Oppose foreign aid Support high taxes Oppose high taxes Support giving children condoms Oppose giving children condoms Support pornographers Oppose pornographers Support killing unborn children Oppose killing unborn children Oppose killing murderers Support killing murderers Oppose gun ownership Support gun ownership Weaken America's military Strengthen America's military Worship trees Cut down trees (a renewable resource) Chart the views of liberals like Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Al Gore.  They, along with most liberal leaders, agree with the column on the left.  Conservative leaders like Alan Keyes tend to concur with the issues on the right.  The respective supporters of these two camps tend to hold their party line.  For example, of these ten issues, millions of liberals will hold to most issues of the left and millions of conservatives will stand for most issues on the right.  But why?  Why do people line up along such well-defined battle lines?  Why is there not an equal number who agree with five issues on the right and five on the left?  Why do most leaders who support killing an innocent unborn child oppose killing a guilty murdering rapist?  Why does almost everyone who supports welfare also defend a right to exploit women sexually through pornography? If these disagreements arose randomly in a disconnected fashion, then no pattern of adherents would likely exist.  A line of demarcation appears, however, because these issues do not arbitrarily arise, but result from society acting out underlying principles.  Once a man commits to certain fundamental precepts, then experienced observers can guess many of his future political preferences.  Some defend the existence of absolute truth.  Others reject the notion of absolute right and wrong and put their hope in relative morality.  The Ten Commandments become ten suggestions, if that.  The world calls these relativists left-wingers.  The defenders of absolutes believe that truth descends from God.  The world calls us right-wingers. This political observation makes a good analogy.  Patterns of disagreement can reveal much about underlying presuppositions.  Different foundational ideas then lead to various, though related, disputes.  Likewise, exploring ten major doctrinal disputes can reveal an incredible biblical pattern.  The Plot traces the origins of these debates to the first century Christian leaders.  Then the Apostle Paul's handling of early doctrinal disagreements provides the guidance to resolve today's debates.  The Epistles become the compass, the whole Word of God the map, to traverse the terrain of human existence. God does not have doctrinal difficulties.  Why?  As the author, He knows the meaning of Bible passages.  God does not have "problem texts."  Therefore, when God opens eyes to solve doctrinal disputes, "problem texts" disappear for men also.  Thus the doctrinal answer offered in this book turns problem texts into "proof texts!"  Readers will see that the opposing sets of Bible verses often used in traditional doctrinal debate will all support true theology. Get the Big Picture At the outset of taking an awesome biblical journey in The Plot, realize the goal is to grasp the Bible's big picture. The successful student masters the wider context of debated issues. The meaning of a word depends partly on its context within the sentence; the meaning of the sentence depends partly on its context with the paragraph; the meaning of the paragraph on the chapter; the chapter on the book; and the proper understanding of even the book depends on its position within the context of the Bible. Those who understand the big picture avoid getting lost in the details. Now the fun begins.  Brace yourself for excitement, but proceed with maximum alertness! The Challenge for The Plot The primary biblical details this book attempts to clear up include the following ten doctrinal debates: Some Believe Others Believe Believers can lose their salvation Believers cannot lose their salvation Baptism is necessary Baptism is not necessary Believers speak in tongues Believers do not speak in tongues God will answer prayers of faith Many good prayers go unanswered Miracles and healing are assured Miracles and healing are not assured There is no pre-tribulation rapture The rapture is before the tribulation Believers must keep the law Believers are not under the law Salvation by faith requires works Salvation requires faith and not works Believers must keep the Sabbath Sabbath observance is unnecessary Unclean foods are prohibited All foods are clean More than anything, this author wants to thoroughly communicate the overall plot of the Bible to each reader.  As a secondary effect of having a solid understanding of the big picture of any book, the reader then has a much easier task grasping the details of that book.  Knowing the plot helps identify the twists.  Knowing the twists helps explain a myriad of details. A Daunting Task To resolve these ten disputes, someone could prepare ten arguments, one for each issue.  All pros and cons must be evaluated for each issue.  The student analyzes only a few dozen Scriptures for certain disputes; for others, he analyzes hundreds.  A number of scholarly books defend each opposing doctrine.  Limiting the effort to only two authors advocating each position requires reading forty books that mostly contradict one another.  Many students consume years in this effort.  In the end, the student sides with one position or the other, for each dispute, weighing countless factors. Regardless of the student's conclusions, millions of believers will disagree with him.  The masses of Christians cannot be right on these doctrines, because the masses disagree with one another.  Even after such a colossal effort, how many of these ten doctrinal questions would the average reader get right? A Single, Simple Solution Imagine, for the moment, that someone could resolve all ten questions simply by learning one single Bible verse.  Is it possible that one single concept, one idea, one thought, revealed in a single Bible verse, could resolve every debate listed above?  This book presents just such a verse for the reader's consideration. Some will think it impossible for one Bible fact to answer all these dilemmas.  If, however, someone asked God to unravel these mysteries, could He do so in a single statement?  If He could, then perhaps His Word does also.  If God could not, then the author should stop writing this book.  The Plot of the Bible argues, though, that God could, and that He has, proclaimed the answer to these ten debates in a single verse. Consider any discipline-criminal law, physics, Shakespeare.  Imagine that within that field of study ten apparently unrelated debates rage.  Imagine that one discovery or one observation or one perspective, when applied to these disagreements, had the ability to resolve, neatly and completely, each and every dilemma.  The fact that one simple idea can address ten different quandaries inherently gives that idea credibility and makes it worthy of full examination. For example, a good law well enforced will bring about unimagined benefits in countless circumstances.  Whereas a bad law, though designed to address a specific problem, actually creates more problems than it supposedly solves.  Historically, a law against adultery reduced infidelity and divorce as expected.  But it also lowered rates for murder, rape, kidnapping, and child abuse; this law can even improve the economy thereby raising the standard of living. When one simple biblical idea resolves many seemingly unrelated troubles, that idea merits great attention.  Similarly, if someone invents a Bible "answer," that idea will likely create more problems than it supposedly solves.  Thus the Christians who argue that men have a "right to fornicate" help to unleash a tidal wave of destruction.  If, however, one concept helps effortlessly to avoid numerous problems, the concept may very well be valid. No Problem Texts! A typical doctrinal argument emphasizes certain biblical passages (its proof texts) while de-emphasizing other passages (its problem texts).  This very approach makes many students uncomfortable because they want to embrace the whole word of God.  Ignoring or diminishing certain texts that appear to contradict a conclusion unsettles them and rightly so. Any number of arguments can be presented for or against the ten doctrinal disputes listed above.  These arguments traditionally pit one set of Bible verses against another.  Someone trying to prove that a believer cannot lose his salvation will cite certain proof texts (i.e., Eph. 4:30; Phil. 1:6) and dispute other problem texts (i.e., Heb. 6:4-6; 2 Pet. 2:20-22).  Those who argue that a believer can lose his salvation swap the passages, so that they heartily endorse their proof texts (i.e., Heb. 6:4-6; 2 Pet. 2:20-22), while contending with their problem texts (i.e., Eph. 4:30; Phil. 1:6). What if God has presented one biblical key that would not only answer all the confusion, but would also erase the tension between the traditional proof and problem texts?  The student would then see both sets of proof and problem texts merge into a single grouping of proof texts. Christians expect exactly this in heaven.  Once in heaven "I shall know just as I also am known" (1 Cor. 13:12) by God, without confusion.  Heaven admits no "problem verses."  God's Word will exist in heaven (Mat. 24:35) open, honest, simple to understand and true at face value. The solution to these ten doctrinal debates does not require diminishing or obfuscating, explaining away or twisting scores of problem verses.  The solution lies in understanding the big picture of the Bible.  Those well versed on the biblical plot and the plot twists can read Bible passages and accept them for just what they appear to say without harboring a sense of internal conflict.  The Bible is the Word of God.  The Bible makes sense and does not contradict itself. You'll love this powerful teaching through Scripture as you see that the overview of the Bible really is the only valid key to its details! * Historical Notes on the Pre-Tribulation Rapture: Chapter 11 of The Plot includes a response to the widespread claim that pre-tribulation rapture teaching began with the Plymouth Brethren and John Darby (d. 1882). That chapter references this webpage, as kgov.com/pre-trib, for more information. In the past, many Christians who wrote of the tribulation saw it as a three and a half year period. (The Plot observes that Jesus mentioned that the Tribulation may be "shortened" and that Peter called for the "hastening" of the coming of the Lord. Thus it is correct that the coming tribulation may be less than a full seven years. The text also shows that the Twelve Apostles saw, correctly, that Joel's end-times prophecy began its fulfillment at Christ's ascension. Therefore they, also correctly, expected His soon return. However, one year after the resurrection Luke 13:6-9, God temporarily cut off Israel Romans 11:11-15, 19-20, 23-26, when He grafted in the Body of Christ. So while the Great Tribulation will likely be longer than the three and a half years held by many generations of Christians, as Jesus said, those days can be "shortened", so we can expect the Tribulation to be less than a full seven years.) On what we today call the pre-tribulation rapture, Morgan Edwards, a graduate of Bristol Baptist College, prominent religion historian, Baptist pastor, and a founder of Brown University, wrote in 1788: The distance between the first and second resurrection will be somewhat more than a thousand years. I say, somewhat more—, because the dead saints will be raised, and the living changed at Christ's "appearing in the air" (I Thes. iv. 17); and this will be about three years and a half before the millennium, as we shall see hereafter: but will he and they abide in the air all that time? No: they will ascend to paradise, or to some one of those many "mansions in the father's house" (John xiv. 2), and disappear during the foresaid period of time. The design of this retreat and disappearing will be to judge the risen and changed saints; for "now the time is come that judgment must begin," and that will be "at the house of God" (I Pet. iv. 17)."   For other instances of the teaching of the pre-tribulation rapture in history, for example, including from 1300 A.D. and 400 A.D., please see chapter 11 of my book The Plot. Here's an excerpt... Belief in a specifically pre-tribulation rapture can be traced back in various ways, including to more almost 400 years before Bunyan in Italy, and more than a thousand years before him in what today is Turkey on the Syrian border. In northern Italy a treatise on the Apostolic Brethren says that their followers, "would be transferred into Paradise, in which are Enoch and Elijah… preserved unharmed from the persecution of the Antichrist… then Enoch and Elijah themselves would descend on the earth… would be killed… and thus Antichrist would reign for a long time", after which Christ returns to the earth with His saints. Further, a Latin manuscript of the sixth century exists which some scholars believe can be traced back to a prominent Syrian church father, the prolific Ephraem of Nisibis (306‑373 AD). A passage from a sermon on prophecy and the antichrist translates into English as: "For all the saints and Elect of God are gathered, prior to the tribulation that is to come, and are taken to the Lord lest they see the confusion that is to overwhelm the world because of our sins." For more, see online A History of Pre-Darby Rapture Advocates by Dr. Thomas Ice. * More On Baptism: Sadly, a ritual that takes perhaps five minutes out of an 80-year life has divided Christ's followers on many lines and into often strongly opposed camps splitting churches and helping to divide tens of millions of believers into opposing Baptist, Adventist, Episcopalian, Lutheran, Methodist, Orthodox, and Presbyterian denominations. Believers disagree over: - the mode / method – sprinkling, pouring, immersion, partial immersion  - the candidate / qualification – none or conversion (believers) - the age – infant, child, or adult - the agent – a lay person, minister, or the Holy Spirit - the formulation – in Christ's name alone or that of the Trinity - the nature – symbolic, moral, or spiritual - the reason – the remission of sin, obedience, a symbol, or church membership - the effect – obedience, identification, or salvation Yet with foresight the Holy Spirit inspired the greatest evangelist in history to write "I thank God that I baptized none of you" except for a very few, as the Apostle Paul explained that, "Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel" (1 Cor. 1:14-17). From that godly perspective, the church has descended into extreme disagreements, teachings, and practices...    Check also: Grant Jeffrey, When the Trumpet Sounds, p. 108, references this Ephraem quote, from Ephraem or Psuedo Ephraem's "On the Last Times, the Anti-Christ and the End of the World." Then Bob continues broadcasting Will Duffy's recent debate Is Open Theism Biblical? Of the tragic consequences of the Calvinist belief system, one of the worst is that non-open theists say that if God had a truly free "will" that He could not be trustworthy. We've noticed that Calvinism undermines a believer's relationship with the Lord into one that trusts the God's supposed inabilities rather than His active love and commitment to righteousness. Did God predetermine whether or not you would get married, and to whom? Did God plan whether you would be wealthy or poor, happy or sad? If God does plan your life, does He do so in minute detail or in general themes? If God has a plan for your life, are you able to alter that plan? "God demonstrated His love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." That is how we know that we can trust Him. Not because of any supposed attributes of impassibility, immutability, impecability (which are inabilities and the attributes of a stone idol) but we can trust Him because God has demonstrated His trustworthiness and faithfulness (which are not inabilities but positive attributes). Have you ever wondered about the average Calvinist, that is, the non-theologian, who dutifully believes what he's been told about God and the Bible? Will Duffy's debate here provides insight into thousands or perhaps millions of Calvinist believers who themselves have minimal familiarity even with their own belief system and only have a distorted caricature, based on what they've been told, of the view that the future cannot be settled but most be open, because God is free and inexhaustibly creative. Of course, Duffy was respectful and gracious toward CJ Borns. * Only Trusting God's Inabilities; Can't Trust Him If He's Free: Something apparent in most of our debates was present in this one also. You can hear the non-open theist say that if God had a truly free and functioning "will" that He could not be trustworthy. We've noticed how this false doctrine undermines a believer's relationship with the Lord. Calvinists trust God's inabilities but not His abilities. They should be trusting His active love and commitment to righteousness. Yet they ask, incredulously, "How can you possibly trust God if God is free?" Will Duffy's answer paraphrased Scripture. "God demonstrated His love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." That is how we know that we can trust Him. After briefly discussing the "bitcoin bubble" and Judge Roy Moore's election loss, Bob airs part of Matt Slick's opening statement as a lead in to the continuation of Will Duffy's cross-examining of the popular Calvinist theology from their December 1, 2017 Open Theism debate. Duffy is the founder of opentheism.org (the official home of the debate) and Slick is the founder of carm.org, the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry. * Actions Cannot Be Figures of Speech: Matt Slick in his opening statement misunderstood this point, thinking that Will Duffy and Bob Enyart claim that a figure of speech cannot include an action verb. That has nothing to do with this observation. Here it is, explained in detail, from opentheism.org/verses#regret:  13 - God Shows Regret (similar to "repent"; uses the same Hebrew word, nacham) I greatly regret making Saul king 1 Sam. 15:11 therefore God deposed Saul from the throne and gave the dynasty to David. For "Samuel said to Saul, 'You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the LORD…  For… the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. But now your kingdom shall not continue…'" 1 Sam. 13:13-14. (An "action" cannot be a figure of speech. Why not? Because an action is not only speech; it is an action. God "repenting" that He made Saul King 1 Sam. 15:11, 35 could theoretically be a figure of speech (but if so, then as a figure, it would have to convey some actual meaning). However "to repent" does not refer only to words or thoughts, but it can also refer to an action (to turn from). When any word, including the word "repent", refers to an action, then it cannot be a figure "of speech", because it is an action. When God removed Saul from the throne, and then actually gave the dynasty to David, that deposing of Saul was an action that God performed. (This powerfully illustrates a reason why God inspired His Word as a historical narrative rather than merely as a series of abstractions, so that we would constrain our interpretations based on the biblical accounts.) The Lord repented that He had made man on the earth and was grieved Gen. 6:6-7 so He destroyed the earth's population, which is not speech but an action (except for Noah's family Mat. 24:37-38; 1 Peter 3:20) * Quotes from Calvinist John Piper: Piper wrote an article about one of his own articles. The second is titled, Will we be finally ‘saved' by faith alone? to which Piper answers, "No." To get to that false conclusion Piper rejects using the terms justified and saved as synonyms, and he unwittingly conflates the Christian's life in heaven with our life here. For in heaven we are delivered from our flesh whereas here we are not. By these tactics Piper twists the Scriptures to arrive at his legalist goal, that you cannot be saved by faith alone. He begins his second article (actually, a transcript) like this: "[In] an article titled 'Does God Really Save Us by Faith Alone?' ... you answered no — we are not saved by faith alone" and urging Christians to not use "the term justification interchangeably with salvation" and that "Justification... unites us to Christ by faith alone" but while "works play no role whatsoever in justification" John Piper then contradicts himself by immediating adding that "works... are the necessary fruit of justifying faith..." Confusing what happens in this life as compared to what happens in "the day of redemption", John Piper writes, "we are not justified through sanctification. But we are finally saved through sanctification..." And because Piper doesn't rightly divide between law and grace (i.e., between Israel and the Body, and between Paul and James), in confusion he adds, "faith without works is not the kind of faith that justifies anybody... these works are necessary." And of course, by reject Christ's teaching through Paul that we must "rightly divide the word of truth", Piper arrives at a dispensationally erroneous conclusion that contradicts the Gospel of Grace that God gave to Paul for us, which says: "to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness." Romans 4:5 See Piper make the same legalistic case in his foward to another book.

Divine simplicity: discursive thought and generated knowledge Will Duffy and Chris Morrison In this episode we explore some tough questions about specific bible passages that seem to indicate God changes his mind, he interacts with his creation, that he is temporal and experiences emotions and growth in knowledge as it relates to both the Old Testament authorial intent and New Testament incarnation. Chris takes the classical position which relies heavily on anthropomorphisms and other phenomenological explanations for texts that seem to show God gaining knowledge, changing his mind, and experiencing change that the classical models may have difficulty explaining. "Does Open Theism Best Explain the Biblical data?" Calvinists we debate say that they trust God's decrees, but that they could not trust God Himself, if God were free. This was overtly exposed again in this weekend's debate between Calvinist theologian Matt Slick, founder of CARM.org, and Will Duffy, founder of OpenTheism.org. Bob Enyart airs Mr. Duffy's opening statement and then goes to the YouTube channel youtu.be/user/BobEnyartLive to respond to a commenter, Mirabilis, about the claim of Open Theism that God is free and has an actual free will, and that therefore the Father loves the Son freely, not by any compulsion or inevitability, but because He chooses to love the Son. Also, the Son loves the Father, and the Holy Spirit, freely. Of course! Today's Resource: Predestination & Free Will Debate Bob Enyart vs. Brian Schwertly Can God change? Does He change? Today on The Dominic Enyart Show, you're invited to come testify against “the Most Radical Abortion Bill in the Country” HB22-1279! This radical pro-abortion bill would codify abortion into Colorado law saying abortion is legal through all stages of gestation. This bill states that every pregnant mother has a “fundamental… right to an aboriton.” This is sickening. Project 100, proposed by Will Duffy of Agape Kingdom Fellowship, looks to get 100 anti-abortion advocates to testify against the bill and drown out the pro-choice advocates, simply with sheer volume. Today, Dominic is inviting you to be one of those 100 and testify in defense of our unborn neighbors. Click here to testify against HB22-1279! The hearing will begin at 1:30 p.m. mountain time, and you can testify either in person at the Denver Capitol or online via Zoom. If you don't live in Colorado, no worries! You can still testify! So far we have people testifying from California, Michigan, Montana, and even as far away as Puerto Rico! If you're hoping to testify in person, we recommend arriving at the Denver Capitol around 1:00 p.m. where you'll meet Dominic, Will, and other members of kgov.com + Agape Kingdom Fellowship. When you sign up you'll want to click "By Sponsor and Bill." Note: This is nothing to be scared of! There are even several children, as young as thirteen willing to testify in support of the unborn. If you feel unequipped, and think you don't know what to say, that's not a problem! We're willing to help write your testimony, or if needed, write your entire testimony for you. Hopefully you've picked up on this by now, but we're trying to rob you of every excuse! ;) To read the wicked abortion bill, click here. We recommend you read through this before testifying, so you have your wits about you! Remember that we must do right… and risk the consequences! Godspeed.

(B. Glander, J. Durbin, D. Enyart)Last Wednesday/Thursday in Colorado there was a public hearing for HB22-1079 which would have fully abolished abortion in Colorado. The Dominic Enyart Show, alongside Apologia Studios, Agape Kingdom Fellowship, Colorado Right to Life, and many other ant-abortion groups went to testify at the Denver Capitol in support of our unborn neighbors. The committee members, in their hatred of God, tried to silence the abolition-advocates by outwaiting us and causing us to give up and go home. They had us arrive at 1:00pm. Eleven and a half hours later, we won out and began testifying at 12:30am. Tranny back-right corner. (Ew)The bill was struck down in 7-4 by the 11 committee members, yet we still celebrate. We celebrate, A- because we're not called by God to win, only to be faithful/obedient. And B- because we were expecting a 9-2 loss, but the Republicans who typically vote against abolition bills voted in support of it. Dominic explains why that was before playing 3 of the 60 anti-abortion testimonies given that day. Programming Note: to hear Doug McBurney filling in for Dominic (when he was at the capitol) click here! Life of the mother: The personhood campaign cares as much for the mom as for the baby, so why no “life” exception? The doctor's goal should be to save mom and the baby, if possible, but never to kill the mother to save the baby, nor to kill the child to save the mother. With a tubal pregnancy for example we cannot save the child and we must remove the embryo to save the mother. Sadly then the baby dies. Society's attempt to justify killing the unborn leads to absurdities like the exception in the partial birth abortion ban. In reality, when a delivery is needed to save mom, the doctor shouldn't stop caring for the mother just long enough to kill the baby.  The PBA ban itself has no authority to save a single child because the abortionist simply uses a variation of PBA or some other late-term technique to kill the baby. However, the very idea of delaying the saving of a mom in order to stop midway to kill the baby is such an obvious cruelty and deception that it exposes the hard-heartedness of those who argue for such exceptions. An “exception” is a euphemism for deliberately killing a baby. That's why personhood is changing what it means to be pro-life. When trying to save both patients the baby often dies. However, you should always try to save both mother and child. The pictures here depict two different situations. On the left, you have a poor child who passed away. His mother had cervical cancer and the baby had to be removed for her to receive treatment. As you can tell, the baby was handled with great care and the doctors tried desperately to save the life of the baby. On the right, you see another poor child who was brutally murdered by an abortionist who had no intention of saving the child's life. When it comes to these situations, intent matters. And just from the pictures, you can see the intent on the left was to preserve life, whereas the intent on the right was to destroy life. Today's Resource: Focus on the Strategy Trilogy In Focus on the Strategy #1, using audio and video clips of Christian leaders, Bob Enyart presents seven lines of evidence that our national ministries have endorsed legal positivism, elevating man's rules and the Constitution above God, and giving them precedence above eternal laws such as Thou shall not murder. Focus on the Strategy #2 not only documents the political sell-out of the pro-life movement, it answers the question of how to restore the movement and end America's 'legalized' child killing. Focus II stands alone, preferably viewed before Focus #I, and documents that: Colorado's Republican Governor John Love signed the nation's first permissive abortion law in 1967. Republican U.S. Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun wrote Roe v. Wade. The 7-to-2 Roe v. Wade ruling was approved with five a Republican majority of five votes. The Republican Justices now on the Court (including Scalia, Thomas, Alito and Roberts) oppose personhood. All six Republican judges on the 11th circuit (nominated by Reagan, Bush Sr. & George W. Bush) voted to kill Terri Schiavo. Republican "pro-life" heroine Priscilla Owen voted to abort "Baby 10" as a Texas Supreme Court judge. Republican "pro-life" hero Samuel Alito sided with Planned Parenthood in repeated 3rd-circuit rulings, including ruling to keep partial birth abortion legal. Republican George W. Bush refused to support South Dakota's total ban on abortion. Hundreds of pro-life laws that regulate abortion that will actually keep abortion legal after Roe is overturned such as the Informed Consent laws. In Focus on the Strategy #3 Bob Enyart presents the 3-pronged strategy to end abortion in America. Three-fold Strategy: 1. Criminalize: recriminalize the intentional killing of the unborn and other innocents through state and national personhood efforts. 2. Demoralize: create unbearable social tension and ensure that there is no child killing with tranquility in order to coerce the government to correct the injustice of shedding innocent blood. 3. Evangelize: persuade individuals by education and evangelism to honor the God-given right to life.

On my morning drive to work for this episode of Truthspresso Express I talk about the memorial service my wife and I attended this last Saturday for Bob Enyart who passed away on September 12. Bob Enyart was the pastor of Denver Bible Church and host of the radio show Bob Enyart Live. In the 1990's he hosted a midnight television show also named Bob Enyart Live. Will Duffy chronicled the life of Bob Enyart at the end of the service. I recall some salient moments from the presentation. Despite some doctrinal differences I had with Bob, his battles with the political left and his fight against abortion were impeccable.
