What are we sleeping less and less? What are the benefits of getting a good nights sleep and the risks if we consistently don't? How is sleep linked to memory, cognitive performance, blood sugar regulation & stress hormones? How is young people's development affected by sleep? In this episode we have the surprising data on the science of sleep to get up to date on; so, why there's a sleep deprivation epidemic; how sleep works and what it's required for; dreams; and importance of sleep for learning and for immunity. We're also going to discuss the wide range of serious health issues that arise with even a small sleep deficit, and the vast benefits of getting sleep right; and the lifestyle tips we need to consistently get the sleep we need. And of course, sleep and mental health, and the importance of sleep for development in young people.Gratefully our guest today is a psychologist and neuroscientist that specialises in sleep, mental health and dream research, particularly in young people. Garth Heckman TDAgiantSlayer@gmail.com  The David Alliance   The Journey Away: Understanding Why Individuals Leave the Christian Faith Understanding the Journey Away from Faith Faith deconstruction, within the context of Christianity, refers to a process where individuals critically examine and potentially reject the religious beliefs they once held as true…. I don't believe it is a critically examined decision. I think 100% of the time it is emotional.  Remember what Fatigue makes cowards out of all of us. Vince Lombardi… I feel it is the same way when we walk away. We become fatigued in our walk. We let the struggles of life beat us up and drain us. We want a quick fix, we want a “feel good moment”, we have dissapointments… but they are all based on our feelings.    Seeds of Doubt and Disillusionment start out as feelings from things that did not go our way.  One significant factor involves negative experiences with the church itself.  The role of parental influence and the strength of religious reinforcement during childhood also play a critical part in the development and retention of faith.  If Mom and Dad do not have an active vibrant and powerful walk with God… you are more prone to walk away or at least never dive in deep.    Moreover, higher education and exposure to diverse perspectives can introduce substantial challenges to established religious beliefs. The experience of being challenged with new ideas and concepts that contradict religious teachings, often encountered in college or university settings, is a significant factor in the rejection of religious beliefs.  deconversion process.  The Weight of Experience: How Personal Struggles Can Erode Faith Personal experiences, especially those involving suffering and disappointment, can significantly erode an individual's faith. Trauma, loss, and the perception of unanswered prayers often prompt individuals to question their relationship with God and the tenets of their Christian belief.  Similarly, the experience of perceived unanswered prayers can lead to feelings of doubt and abandonment, or question the efficacy of prayer itself and the nature of God's involvement in the world.  Intellectual Challenges to Christian Beliefs Intellectual challenges pose a significant hurdle for some individuals in maintaining their Christian faith.  Conflicts between religious dogma and scientific understanding, particularly concerning the origins of the universe and life (e.g., evolution versus creationism, the age of the earth) , also contribute to a shift away from faith.  Furthermore, the intellectual struggle with the problem of evil –  The Social Landscape: Influence of Community and Culture on Faith Social and cultural factors wield considerable influence on an individual's faith journey and can significantly contribute to the decision to walk away from Christianity. Interactions with people holding different beliefs can challenge the exclusivity claims often made by Christianity.  Emotional and Psychological Aspects of Faith Deconstruction The process of faith deconstruction is often accompanied by a complex array of emotional and psychological experiences.Feelings of guilt may arise from questioning or doubting long-held beliefs, often deeply ingrained by religious teachings that emphasize unwavering faith. This internalized pressure can lead to significant anxiety and the fear of divine punishment or social ostracism.     Phases of Transition: Understanding the Stages of Moving Away from Faith Individuals moving away from their Christian faith often go through a series of stages or phases. The process typically begins with initial questioning and doubt, often triggered by specific events, intellectual challenges, or personal struggles. This initial phase can be marked by cognitive dissonance and a struggle to reconcile emerging uncertainties with existing beliefs.    Following this, individuals may enter a stage of exploration, actively seeking out alternative perspectives and critically evaluating religious doctrines. This involves intellectual engagement with viewpoints that differ from their religious upbringing and a willingness to examine the foundational tenets of Christian belief.    Some would say that the process of walking away from God is a multi faceted process with many limbs and tentacles and can happen in many many ways… I think it is more simplistic than that…. I believe it truly comes down to The Impact of Isolation from other believers.  We see people all the time who become separated and secluded from others and that is the first step to walking from their faith.  I don't just mean alone, but alone with the wrong people. Isolation causes inflammation of ones of ones information. Meaning when we see only one side of life, problems, religions, and we isolate ourselves form solid Christian relationships - these things become inflamed and infected in our psyche and soul and spirit. Slowly killing us.  Why is scripture so strategic in continuing to meet as believers and that we are a body… because God in his infinite wisdom knows that isolation kills us.  Stay plugged in, stay in church, stay in your bible study, stay in your Xn friends lives.

As God puts it on your heart, can you pray for a Great Awakening. It could be a couple of minutes a day, a week, or He may ask you to skip a meal and pray. Pray the rosary. Whatever God tells you, can you obey? Thank you and together can we as God's children Bless God. (Boston Accent 23 seconds)   There are two types of people in this world… those who love authority and those who love having authority over them… and those who love authority that can be manipulated… and those who manipulate authority to look like they don't have authority… and wait… what?    What is the most authority you have ever been given?  As a Valet in Dallas I was asked once to not park cars (we had a pretty big crew) and rather than park cars… I ran security at the door for the club we were at… it was definitely a test in integrity. No one gets in… unless they have a C note, no one gets in unless they are bigger than you and are intimidating, no one gets in unless she and her friends are absolutely dropped gorgeous….   Adam was given the order to Reign… he was the bouncer of the garden of eden.  He was over creation… naming it, running it, multiplying it… he was the authority… But When he sinned he covered himself up with that which he was supposed to be over.   Gen. 3 Adam goes from having all power and authority over all of creation to covering himself up with that which he was supposed to be over. Adam and Eve and cover themselves… they cover up their identity/power… and they hide under the trees… they submit to the worlds power… we are under the worlds power, covered in the worlds authority not ours.    How many people Xn and non Xn cover themselves up with creation… they hide under cars, houses, makeup, push up bras, hobbies, money, Worldly causes, jobs, positions, trophies, accolades, popularity, clothes, muscles…etc… And their authority is set under who the world says they are. You are BLM supporter, you are democrat, you are a republican, a tree hugger, you are an anti Vaxer, you are a pro gun nut… right or wrong, good or bad… you choose to follow the worlds power and authority then to choose to be over it… meaning, I first go by what the Bible says and not media or my flesh or my emotions.  You are called to be the authority in this world through Christ. He has given you his power and authority BUT>>> you choose to lay it down and submit to the worlds power and authority?    Which Adam has dominion over your life? The sinful nature passed on through the first, or the new life offered by the last?

Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com    What are five things Christian entrepreneurs need to know?  Here are five things Christian entrepreneurs should keep in mind: followed up by 3 mistakes Christian entrepreneurs make.  Biblical Principles must be a Foundation: Integrate biblical values like integrity, honesty, fairness, and stewardship into all business practices. This builds trust and sets a strong ethical standard. Ultimately wether or not your business succeeds… is secondary, what is foundational is that you make God look good.  Lets just be honest, most Xn's don't know scripture well enough to run their life… so even more you should know it to run your business… life first - yes! Then your business!    Faith-Driven Decision Making: Seek God's guidance in business decisions through prayer and discernment. Trust that God has a purpose for your business and align your plans with His will… But if you don't think that Jesus would make a decision based on your motives… than don't you make the decision.      Serving Others: View your business as a ministry and an opportunity to serve others. Focus on meeting the needs of your customers, employees, and community, demonstrating Christ's love through your actions   Balancing Profit with Purpose: While financial success is important, don't let it overshadow your mission and values. Find ways to use your business to make a positive impact on the world, whether through charitable giving, ethical sourcing, or community involvement. And here is a secret that has helped me tremendously: Don't have a goal of how much money you want to make… have a goal of how much money you want to give away. Not just tithe from your business, but give away to those in need… than work backwards from there.    Community and Accountability: Connect with other Christian entrepreneurs for support, encouragement, and accountability. Sharing your experiences and challenges with like-minded individuals can provide valuable perspective and guidance. and like scripture says, find wisdom in numbers. Ask other entrepreneurs wether Xn or not to help you, steer you and invite criticism from them.   3 mindset mistakes a. You don't think there will be stress… being a Christian entrepreneur does not make anything easy. Jesus had stress… thats why he had to get away constantly and pray. He had stress in the garden of gethemene to the point where he had hemitidrosis.    b. You don't think you will have to work as hard… you have the favor of God on your side… but you still gotta put in the work. Look you might have to work harder because you won't cheat, steal and lie… I don't know of any church or business that magically grew because they were christian. Pray like crazy, and work like mad.    c. You won't fail… oh how I wish this was true… that is like saying because I am a christian I won't sin… yeah and hows that going for you. Yes you will get smarter and mistakes should be less and less, but you will fail. The average entrepreneur fails 6 times before he finds his niche! So try, fail, pray  and move on.    *Bonus: mistakes are from the enemy… maybe, but maybe not.  Mistakes will allow you to learn, pivot and may make you a lot of money. Colonel Sanders bucket of chicken was actually a mistake he sold the buckets to one if his franchise because someone else bought them by mistake… and the franchisee Pete Harmon turned them into an iconic idea that sold millions of dollars of chicken and to this day still gives people a warm good feeling.  Twitter was a pivot, PayPal was a pivot even Wrigley gum was a pivot.

Is suicide a sin?

Garth Heckman  The David Alliance TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com   If you commit suicide will you go to hell? Some people call suicide murder or self murder… while I will not belabor my opinion on that… I think it is a stupid perspective to start with. Because people then assume if you murder someone and repent you can still go to heaven… but if you murder yourself you can't ask for forgiveness and you will then go to hell. Again… These people start at the wrong side of the equation. First of all one must ask themselves how are we saved? Is it by works? Is it by a sinless life? Is it by living according to some moral code or high ground? Im not saying we as followers of Christ are to practice sloppy grace… just sin and confess… but the problem is much more complex. Here are 3 thoughts you must chew on. First: We are saved by grace… there have been and will be those who sin on the day they die and go to heaven. I think you can achieve a sinless life to about 99% - I truly do - I have not achieved that, but I believe we sell ourselves short by simply stating “we all sin” as if an excuse to lay back on our Xn walk and sin without conscience and with out spiritual remorse or  - understanding we grieve the Holy Spirit. But the point is - we sin, we will die, we will still go to heaven because of Gods grace. Secondly… I have met many people who say emphatically suicide is a sin and you will go to hell… why do they say that? They have a spouse, a son, a parent or friend who is suicidal and they don't know what else to say - so in order to keep them from taking their life they double down and try to use fear… here is the problem… if they are truly suicidal fear is not going to work… mental illness is a disease that blocks reason and cognitive application. Let me dumb it down for you…. If I am willing to kill myself (and we should all have some fear of dying) But I am not afraid of killing myself… then I am surely not afraid of hell. Third thought… people have argued that people kill themselves because they just want to escape earth and be in heaven… while I understand this and have had people even hint at that in counseling… the real reason they are contemplating suicide is not so they can get to heaven, it is so they can escape the pain they are in.  Should we worry about people who are suicidal? Yes. Can a person still go to heaven if they commit suicide… YES. But first things first… love them, get them professional help and pray for them.

Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: A Robust Natural Latent Over A Mixed Distribution Is Natural Over The Distributions Which Were Mixed, published by johnswentworth on August 22, 2024 on The AI Alignment Forum. This post walks through the math for a theorem. It's intended to be a reference post, which we'll link back to as-needed from future posts. The question which first motivated this theorem for us was: "Redness of a marker seems like maybe a natural latent over a bunch of parts of the marker, and redness of a car seems like maybe a natural latent over a bunch of parts of the car, but what makes redness of the marker 'the same as' redness of the car? How are they both instances of one natural thing, i.e. redness? (or 'color'?)". But we're not going to explain in this post how the math might connect to that use-case; this post is just the math. Suppose we have multiple distributions P1,…,Pk over the same random variables X1,…,Xn. (Speaking somewhat more precisely: the distributions are over the same set, and an element of that set is represented by values (x1,…,xn).) We take a mixture of the distributions: P[X]:=jαjPj[X], where jαj=1 and α is nonnegative. Then our theorem says: if an approximate natural latent exists over P[X], and that latent is robustly natural under changing the mixture weights α, then the same latent is approximately natural over Pj[X] for all j. Mathematically: the natural latent over P[X] is defined by (x,λP[Λ=λ|X=x]), and naturality means that the distribution (x,λP[Λ=λ|X=x]P[X=x]) satisfies the naturality conditions (mediation and redundancy). The theorem says that, if the joint distribution (x,λP[Λ=λ|X=x]jαjPj[X=x]) satisfies the naturality conditions robustly with respect to changes in α, then (x,λP[Λ=λ|X=x]Pj[X=x]) satisfies the naturality conditions for all j. "Robustness" here can be interpreted in multiple ways - we'll cover two here, one for which the theorem is trivial and another more substantive, but we expect there are probably more notions of "robustness" which also make the theorem work. Trivial Version First notion of robustness: the joint distribution (x,λP[Λ=λ|X=x]jαjPj[X=x]) satisfies the naturality conditions to within ϵ for all values of α (subject to jαj=1 and α nonnegative). Then: the joint distribution (x,λP[Λ=λ|X=x]jαjPj[X=x]) satisfies the naturality conditions to within ϵ specifically for αj=δjk, i.e. α which is 0 in all entries except a 1 in entry k. In that case, the joint distribution is (x,λP[Λ=λ|X=x]Pk[X=x]), therefore Λ is natural over Pk. Invoke for each k, and the theorem is proven. ... but that's just abusing an overly-strong notion of robustness. Let's do a more interesting one. Nontrivial Version Second notion of robustness: the joint distribution (x,λP[Λ=λ|X=x]jαjPj[X=x]) satisfies the naturality conditions to within ϵ, and the gradient of the approximation error with respect to (allowed) changes in α is (locally) zero. We need to prove that the joint distributions (x,λP[Λ=λ|X=x]Pj[X=x]) satisfy both the mediation and redundancy conditions for each j. We'll start with redundancy, because it's simpler. Redundancy We can express the approximation error of the redundancy condition with respect to Xi under the mixed distribution as DKL(P[Λ,X]||P[X]P[Λ|Xi])=EX[DKL(P[Λ|X]||P[Λ|Xi])] where, recall, P[Λ,X]:=P[Λ|X]jαjPj[X]. We can rewrite that approximation error as: EX[DKL(P[Λ|X]||P[Λ|Xi])] =jαjPj[X]DKL(P[Λ|X]||P[Λ|Xi]) =jαjEjX[DKL(P[Λ|X]||P[Λ|Xi])] Note that Pj[Λ|X]=P[Λ|X] is the same under all the distributions (by definition), so: =jαjDKL(Pj[Λ,X]||P[Λ|Xi]) and by factorization transfer: jαjDKL(Pj[Λ,X]||Pj[Λ|Xi]) In other words: if ϵji is the redundancy error with respect to Xi under distribution j, and ϵi is the redundancy error with respect to Xi under the mixed distribution P, then ϵijαjϵji The redundancy error of the mixed distribution is a...

But each man must be careful how he builds on it. 11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work. 14 If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. 15 If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.   The frames of ordinary houses back in Christ day were made out of wood, hay and clay… all combined to create a house. If there was a fire, the wood, hay and stubble/clay wold burn up and also turn to dust and powder. But the temple was built out of cut stones and adorned with jewels and fine stones… in a fire these would all last.    We know scripture says people perish without a vision… so what does a vision entail for those of us who know we will be facing a fire… here is a simple plan I employ from a man of God perspective. 5 things:   1- Your mind… ie. A vision of who you want to be in your body, soul, spirit as a follower of Christ. How does this live out in your family, your business your Xn walk.   - 2 A daily list of what you will do in order to walk in that vision   - 3 Monthly to do list… these are more of your goals… your to do for your Ta Da!    - 4 Yearly you check your habits or as I like to think of… your systems.   - 5 Life… take time to compare your past life 1 year, 2 year, 5 year, 10, 15 20 years and ask yourself if you are leaving a legacy.  Now ask yourself this question… at this point right now, if you face a fire… you die, what will last, what will be eternal? Only those that you led to Christ through living out your vision.

Let me say this up front and I will keep saying it… a real man continually tests himself, his beliefs and his actions to see if he really is a real man…We say we are Xn's but do our actions line up with scripture… look if you really want to love yourself examine yourself truthfully according the full the full context of scripture and adjust, change - call yourself out… if you want others to love you, then examine yourself according to your justifications.  we must all practice this weekly if not daily.    **So What is the psychology behind the mindset of someone who can go through a life of trauma, problems, relationship turmoil, betrayal, death and still overcome? What made Paul Paul? What Godly characteristics do we see in Paul that made him a BAMF… a bad as man of faith.    Men who are overcomer's show incredible resilience in the face of adversity. There isn't a single mindset, but most likely a combination of factors that contribute to Pauls strength and manliness: Challenge to Core Beliefs: Life has a way that can shatter a person's sense of safety and trust in the world. (PTSD is a real thing people) Overcoming this requires building, rebuilding and letting God govern those beliefs. Real Men may develop a stronger sense of self understanding in their faith in God, and a newfound appreciation for His safety and security as they go through each challenge.  What do I mean… I mean their core beliefs don't keep them from pain or harm, but rather keep them going in the time of pain and harm. YOU SAY “GARTH WHATS THE POINT?” They expect this. They expect challenges… If you have a core belief.. say You believe in gravity… it will be tested! Drugs, paganism… anything goes… and your the only Xn…. How do you not only make it but thrive?   1 Thessalonians says they experienced salvation with not just words but also in power… it allowed them to practice… Holiness and no compromise. Holiness? Sounds very antiquated in todays world… yes and lets talk ab about how to can our own rutabagas…   the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:16 NLT But in today's world, it sounds too simple, too naïve and too abstract. What exactly does it mean?    The truth is when you truly study holiness, you might end up feeling like you are dressed up in a costume and calling yourself a Christian because the fact is you really aren't holy when you understand what it means in scripture.    I believe when one looks at scripture, you understand that holiness goes beyond simply doing with the Bible says. You can obey all the commands, and still not be holy, you asked how does that work?  Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. Matthew 16:24 NLT   Being holy goes beyond rules and regulations and cuts to the heart. Are you selfish in any of the things you choose to do or say or where you go? The truth is holiness in some sense of the word is different for me than it is for you. Yes we both confess the same Jesus and we both follow the same Scriptures and commands however he might call me to stand out in different ways in how I would I choose to do it. The question you can ask in anything you do or say, or for any motive is this is this truly selfish or is this truly godly? And then ask God to give you guidance into what to do or to say in order to stand apart and be Holy.

This Week the Jezebel Spirit… and not just women have it.    August Friday and Saturday 16th 17th End times conference at HillSpring Church sponsored by The David Alliance,  This past week the NFL Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butler spoke at a commencement and took some heat for his remarks boldly proclaiming a pro-family, pro-God, and pro-life worldview.   The backlash was intense. There were furious columns and very angry tweets. It was discussed and panned by ladies on morning television. The NFL distanced itself from the speech, issuing a statement that “his views are not those of the NFL as an organization.” And, most righteously, people thought he should be fired. A Change.org petition to “Demand the Kansas City Chiefs to Dismiss Harrison Butker for Discriminatory Remarks” had racked up more than 140,000 signatures by 5 p.m. Thursday (though it's hard to tell how many are just 49ers fans). WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST REACTION OVER?  He praised his wife and Mother for their role in Motherhood and the media trashed him… did they mention his Mother was a physicist… no.  HE PRAISED HIS WIFE FOR BEING THE STAY AT HOME MOTHER WHO MAKES THEIR LIFE POSSIBLE. The The New York Post said “you would have a hard time in any locker room wether it be Muslim or Christian not agreeing with him…. And if you cut all of those NFL Christians and Muslims you surely wouldn't have enough atheists to fill the rosters.  BTW - His NFL Jersey skyrocketed in sales.      In a snapshot this gives such a great picture and insight into what we are facing.  Middle of the road, conservative Xn views: Cause an inflammatory response.     In a talk I give called the Power of Response I share the insight of Eastern Philosophy… Called A Mind like Water….  Water always gives the proper response… But the world is not water LOL.      We are not for a lack of things as the church to buttheads with the world over. He began playing music in 1980 while he was in college studying nursing. When he got his degree in 1983, Mohammad moved to the city of Raqqa, Syria where he began working as a professional singer and started his own band, The Al-Rabie Band which played concerts, parties, weddings and festivals all over Syria. The Al-Rabie Band were a much sought-after group. Their live sets included Kurdish, Arabic, Turkish and some Western songs as well as Mohammad's own original material. Mohammad continued to play with his band while also working as a surgical nurse until the war broke out in 2011. This unfortunately brought tragedy to Mohammad's family when one of his sons was killed by Isis thus threatening the lives of the rest of his family. His family had no choice but to leave their home and seek safety in Europe. Three of Mohammad's sons were resettled in Germany while Mohammad, his young daughter and wife were taken in by Ireland. Mohammad has spoken at length of his confusion and despair with fundamentalists and how their message is a far cry from the teachings of love and understanding that he considers the true message of Islam. Since arriving in Ireland, Mohammad has used the language of music to integrate into the local community by playing at private parties and concerts. He regularly plays at weddings and events for the Kurdish and Syrian communities all over Ireland and in Germany. He has collaborated with such Irish artists as Martin Hayes, Cormac Begley, Eimear Reidy, Cathal Roche and Vincent Woods. In 2023 he opened for Lankum at the Cork Opera House and received huge applause from the packed out room. Mohammad's own brand of ecstatic music takes elements from Middle Eastern and North African music to create an atmosphere of joy, love and happiness. The songs on ‘I am Kurdish' have been recorded and mixed with the view to make them to suitable for listening to at a small get together or to be played on a big rig at night clubs. Either way, it is a record that will make people dance. Three of the tracks on the album feature accompaniment by two fellow Leitrim-based musicians: composer, improviser, sound artist and saxophonist Cathal Roche and composer, improviser and cellist Eimear Reidy. Mohammad says: “I thank everyone who has stood with me and supported me. And I especially thank the Irish people who have engaged with my music in such a wonderful way. I consider myself lucky to have come to this wonderful country that has welcomed me and all refugees. I thank God for everything, and now, thanks to this wonderful country, I am a musician and have a safe home. Thank you to the Irish government and people for giving me the honour of calling this country my home.”

Looking for your thoughts ideas and topics. 200 E 280th New Prague MN HillSpringChurchNewPrague@Gmail.com    Steve Simon, once said, imagine how hard physics would be if molecules had feelings. I think this is relative to a lot of CHRISTIANS. They make their Christian walk hard because they base it on feelings.   Beyond that of being a Xn and living off feelings… most live there whole LIVES   Motive is defined as the psychological feature that arouses an organism to action toward a desired goal; the reason for the action; that which gives purpose and direction to behavior. Motive” is something that causes a person to act in a certain way, do a certain thing, etc.; incentive. The goal or object of a person's actions (Webster's College Dictionary).   What line have you drawn in the sand over what you will allow to motivate you. Most people live by feelings and wants. Others live and are motivated by what is easiest. I remember reading a great book - one of my all time top 5. Its called the 10 natural laws of successful time life management. By Hyrum Smith They asked a man if he would walk on a 2x4 from one twin tower to the other for a million… 5 million. 100 million… people in the crowd mocked him, but he explained he chose early on to never be motivated by money. Hyrum said do you have kids? The guy said yes. He said if your youngest was hanging on for dear life would you go out there… he said in a second. He chose ahead of time what he would allow to motivate him. Money pain peer pressure/threats Feelings or ease    Here is the simple key to correct motives… Do I benefit from it or does God? If I benefit from it then I need to ask some hard questions to make sure its still the right motive that ultimately helps me serve God. Quick example… I work out daily. I benefit from it physically, mentally emotionally, I like looking big and strong (ive never cared about being pretty…I uh mean ripped) I love that it still turns my wife on, and it does help how others see me - But I can ultimately and honestly say I want to live as long as possible because I feel responsible to lead as many people to Christ as I can…because you are not pulling your weight. So yes it benefits me and ultimately God. However if there are things that I know really only benefit me, I need to ask God if I should keep doing this.    If what you are doing is actually for God

Just as a farmer prepares the soil before sowing seeds, you might need to do some groundwork to prepare your audience for the impact you intend to make. Here are the points: Avoid Sudden Changes: Introduce changes gradually to maintain audience engagement. Introduce Gradually: Weave spiritual elements subtly into your existing content. Keep Providing Value: Align spiritual content with the existing value you provide. Be Authentic and Vulnerable: Share your spiritual journey and experiences authentically. Involve Your Audience: Frame content changes as a collective journey, seeking audience feedback. Gurriers started in January 2020 and have released a string of excellent singes since, including latest track 'Des Goblin'. Frontman Dan Hoff talks about how they got started, feeling inspired - for good or bad - by social media, playing SXSW in March, what it's like to be part of the hype cycle, and their plans for the rest of the year. A little bonus in the middle of the show: The photographer Rich Gilligan heads to Other Voices every year. He talks about why it's so special to shoot and some of the memorable acts he's experienced in Dingle over the years. Then Fight Like Apes frontwoman Maykay looks back to the Dublin music scene of the mid-00s and how they fitted in, talking FLApes rise, a little about the fall, and their reunion at the Olympia Theatre in 2023. Welcome back to the third installment of our series, "6 Questions That'll Transform Your Content." This episode delves into the question: "What needs to be accomplished most?" and talks about the challenges faced by online community leaders, particularly those in Christian content creation. We discuss how leaders often find themselves dealing with sensitive issues within their communities, and how these experiences can impact them personally. We explore five common pitfalls to avoid when responding to community members who share their personal struggles: Avoid becoming overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task. Resist the urge to go into superhero mode and try to fix everything. Refrain from making jokes or trying to compete with the emotional experiences shared by your audience. Don't rush into addressing anything without taking time to properly think, pray, and read about it. Don't expect instant results. Deep emotional issues require patience, repetition, grace, and time. The podcast also provides practical advice on how to effectively support your community: Spend more time listening and asking clarifying questions. Engage your community in meaningful discussions. Prioritize the most urgent needs. Remember what individuals are going through and regularly check in on them. We hope this series becomes a comprehensive guide for anyone wanting to lead a supportive, empathetic, and engaged community. They got a great hoodie called its a great day to be married… after today maybe some of you will want to wear purchase it… because many of you are not loving the days you are married…    Here is the strategy for a well made man of God personal relationship with X Understanding your life mission and goal (and possibly your life verse) personal systems to operate ones life at its highest level including systems for spouse, kids, church, faith, job Learning how to handle finances learning how to respond to hardships and difficult people Learning how to be a man…Husband, father, son and a rockstar in your local church.  But there is a cheat code… You can do all this, and I highly recommend it, You could read books on all of this… and I have and I do. But here is the cheat code that is missing in todays world. Hanging around manly men… hanging around men of God. I have talked about how here in the US we are were we are at do to the breakdown of the family… the lack of fathers and especially the lack of Godly fathers in the home. If you have no Dad, if you have a lousy Dad, if you have a Dad that is not a strong man of faith… use the cheat code - hang around other Godly men. I saw a drunk man wanting to harm his wife and my Dad took him out and threw him up against a car until the cops came. I saw a man call out a young man who had gone to far with his daughter… I saw a men climb into a fight between 2 women and break it up while others watched. I saw a man who every day before work started he sat in his truck for 45 minutes and read his bible and pray I saw men who were ridiculed for their faith stand and take it and still love those who hate on them I saw men stand in the center of the UW madison campus and preach the gospel I have seen many men sacrifice money, time their jobs in order to live for God…. I have seen men leave unGodly friendships I have seen men break up with beautiful smoking hot women because they were not who God wanted them to date… I have seen men stick with their wives after having an affair I have seen men love their kids when they spit in their face and blamed their dads for their own self inflicted wounds Sure I could have read books, I could have watched youtube videos, I could have worked out a lot of this on my own by personal study… but I cheated by hanging out with MEN, men of God. Manly men… men who were not afraid to stand for what is right even in the midst of a hailstorm of hate and accusations…. here is the bonus… My dad is a manly man of God and because of that he attracted other manly men of God who had influence on me And now I am trying to be that man for others… and attract manly men into my life for the sake of my own sons!  So here are a few clues on finding the man to mentor you… these are not written in stone, but they will help.  1- Go to a church that has a manly senior pastor… like attracts like.   - 2 Find Godly men who do manly things… Muai Tai, Ju jitsu, hunting,   - 3 Find Godly men who have manly jobs… mechanic, police officer, work in the military, Construction…  - 4 Find men who are active in ministry.   - 5 go to a mens bible study and seek out the person there who has been the Xn the longest Now what does scripture say 1 Timothy 6:11 “But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.”     1 Corinthians 16:13 “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” Prov. 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”.  Being with men will teach you to run from some things, How to act and be strong and understand that sharpening is uncomfortable.

If you got ideas or if you are interested in joining me - I need help with some on fire single adults who are willing to speak the truth to young adults… but you gotta walk the talk, and be willing to take it on the chin. You better be a on fire Xn who's morality cannot be bought and you are practicing abstinence until either Jesus comes back or your spouse says I do and the preacher announces you husband and wife!    Matthew 10: 7As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.' 8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give. 9 Cognate: 1432 dōreán(the adverbial form of 1431/dōrea) – something freely done (as gratis), i.e. without "cause"; unearned (undeserved); freely given (without cost) hence not done out of mere obligation or compulsion. See 1431 (dōrea).   If you don't know its free you won't act like its free, you won't give it away like its free, you won't use it like its free, you will act like you had to earn it, buy it, you will hoard it, you will be surprised when it shows up.    If you feel like in anyway you earned it, deserved it or it might not always be there when you need it… you will find it harder and harder to give it away… and that which you do give away will be from you and not God and will have very little if any power.    Don't miss this insight… God in these verses has give us an assignment that we cannot fulfill without knowing that his resources are free to us and free to give. Unless you truly understand that they are free- you will have a hard time fulfilling your mission as a follower of Christ.  Many of us when it comes to money have a poverty mindset… we spend and we give with a “how do i save, scrimp, make it, how do I get by… if I give this will I have enough for me”. We can do the same with Gods power… we think I do not have all the power and authority I should have because I have not prayed enough, I have sinned - I have not met the requirements that I feel I needed to pay out in order to have his power freely given”. There is only one requirement I see in these verses and through out scripture… preach the gospel. Tell people about Jesus and his power will freely flow out of you.  Want more of Gods power and authority in your life… well prayer is good, so is scripture and meditation and church attendance… but it does not earn what is freely given. Step out in the gospel and watch the power freely flow out of you.

This weekend he was busy 3 days straight 24/7 with analysis, writing, creating content, social media posts etc…  So I know a little about football… however with that being said these are not my grades these are straight from the NFL website… so cool your jets if you get mad at me and speaking of Jets… They were dead last in the grade… now yes they spent a mint on Aaron Rodgers… and he is a stud player… wait Garth are you giving the packers some credit…no I still hate the packers but I have never knocked talent - no matter how much I hate the packers… and of course this is sports hate, not biblical hate. And speaking of packers… yikes… did they take a nap or was everyone on Benadryl… how do you fail like that after losing the best QB in football…  hey if you break up with your girlfriend and she is a 11 out of 10… you better be lining up at least a 10 if not a 13… but the packers landed 2's and 3's….  They were rated the 5th worst draft team this year.. but lets talk about the top few teams… the Steelers did great, the eagles… I think they paid people off they did so well. The Bears were rated an A and scored in the top 5. Why all this talk about the draft… When you look at the worst draft picks in the history of the NFL you see a few trends… No work ethic (all the talent in the world, but not willing to sacrifice) Jamarcus russell Horrible relationship skills - ryan Leaf his own teammates hated him… I think maybe his mother did too. Tony Mandarich… what could have been. he believed his own hype, he was an ego maniac or as I like to call him an Ego Mandarich… Charles Rogers… played 15 games… OVER 3 SEASONS… inconsistent was his name'O Many of these guys were found out after the draft… found out they were drug users, Attitude junkies, Ego maniacs, lazy… the list goes on.  What if I ran a draft for building a Jesus team of 11 Men of God… the 11 positions would range from Healing, teaching, preaching, evangelism, worship, Wisdom, Miracles, Faith, Spiritual warfare, Serving, and of course Giving Here are a few questions…  Do you even play?  Would we even look at you? Do you have a track record? Do you currently play for a great team… great prospects typically come from great colleges… Do you go to a great church for Xn growth? Would you get solid references from your coaches about punctuality, attitude, work ethic… who are your coaches… your head coach if you are married would be your spouse, then your kids, then your pastors, your boss, your parents and finally your neighbors. Look the truth is, you are on a team wether you like it or not if you are a Christ follower… Step up and live up to the price paid for your draft.  You might look at yourself and say Garth I don't have what it takes to be in the NFL let alone in the MFL… Men of faith league… But Paul tells us in Romans 8 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies [d]through His Spirit who dwells in you. That is your super power, you have Jesus living inside of you…  Rookie Sam Bradford got paid 70 million… he did not live up to it… Jesus paid for you with his life… don't be a Sam Bradford. - you have been drafted, You have been empowered… no go live up to the hype.

My guest today is Gaurav Kapadia, founder of investment firm XN. Gaurav is a veteran of the investing arena. We cover his lessons while rising to partner at TPG Axon, co-founding Soroban Capital, and his decision to launch XN in 2020. We then discuss his approach to building XN around a culture of rigor and kindness, the importance of relationships in investing, and finding investments that are obvious in retrospect. Please enjoy my great conversation with Gaurav Kapadia.   For the full show notes, transcript, and links to mentioned content, check out the episode page here.   -----   This episode is brought to you by Tegus.
