Questions about your hormones and weight gain? Today's podcast is with Emily de Luzy, owner and founder of FitQueen. I loved Emily's videos and message on LinkedIn, so I asked if she would share her story and experience on the pod! Although she is younger than our 'midlife' crowd, she faced menopausal symptoms in her 20's. Her story is one of the relationship with food, your body and hormones - at any age. Emily's FitQueen moto is 'Your Body, Your Hormones, Your Lifestyle'. To me, that's exactly the sort of conversation we should be having about a healthy body. Weight and changing weight especially is a broader topic than 'eat less and move more'. Enjoy this episode - it was fun to do!Join the Magical Midlife Group on FacebookCome and comment and join the community on InstagramPlease leave a review too! Reviews are the life force of podcasts!

David Kam of Orion Knives joins Bob "The Knife Junkie" DeMarco on Episode 368 of The Knife Junkie Podcast (theknifejunkie.com/368).David started collecting EDC gear including knives in 2017, and began his BladeBanter YouTube knife review channel in 2018, after being an active contributor to other review channels. Once David's knife preferences were crystalized, he created Orion Knives and a premium-feel folder called the Solaris, for less than $100.Fascinated with mechanisms and workmanship, David set out to make knives with a high-level of engineering and design finesse. His Solaris model was an early "enthusiast-designed," China-OEM-produced folder, designed around its button lock/flipper action.Orion recently released the Scorpio, a sweet little clip point EDC with a unique look and build around the same button lock action as the Solaris. In an exciting departure from the button lock flipper setup, David has designed and prototyped a full size frame lock flipper with fuller, opening hole and hawkbill/wharncliffe blade called Cetus. The company's logo features the three stars that make up the belt of Orion, the favorite constellation of his three boys. The company's motto is, "Invest in Your Lifestyle." This episode is brought to you by Sendlane. One of the mantras of Robin Wilson, chairman and founder of A Blue Egg Corporation, is asking people when they last washed their pillows. With Blue Egg's brands in the clean home product space, it's a question that's important to get across to customers, she says. "They're so embarrassed - the average answer was six years," Robin says. "That's drool dander. If you put oils on your hair and have a pet sleeping in your bed, anything you can imagine is on that dirty pillow that now weighs more than when you bought it." In 2015, she published a book on home health called "Clean Design: Wellness for Your Lifestyle." Another book is in the works. Robin's company also has a social justice campaign called Project Lilac that supplies bed sheets to safe houses or shelters for victims of domestic violence. "That's just a simple gesture that can put someone on the road to believing in themselves again," she says. The company's mission is to be an affordable luxury brand for the allergen-aware consumer. "You don't have to have allergies to get our product," she says. "It's something you can get, though, if you want to prevent and protect yourself because it's woven at a 0.5 micron. So bedbugs and dust mites can't penetrate through the fabric, so it's almost like a tech play on sheets and sheeting." When sharing wisdom, Robin first cautions about how life advice is dispensed. "I want to remind people that anyone who gives you advice, often it's from their perspective," she says. "You should take a piece from this and a piece from that and make it your piece. Make it your vision." What Robin hopes will happen soon is that we'll emerge from the pandemic and get back to the basics of coming together as a community, especially when it comes to socializing with friends and mentors. "Have people in your life who are connectors," she says. "Those people get great joy from telling and talking to all their friends and saying, do you know about? Did you know about? And make sure there are a few people like that in your world because they will tell everybody what you're doing and why it's so great." In Part 2, Robin talks about: * The importance of pillow health. * The words of wisdom in her book. * Her brand's social justice campaign - Project Lilac. * Where you can find Clean Design Home products. * Why sleep is so vital to your health. * The perils of taking just one person's advice. * The importance of socializing with connectors. This episode is brought to you by Sendlane. The COVID pandemic caused a lot of people to feel trapped at home, putting a lot more focus on the needs inside a house. That's where A Blue Egg Corporation comes in, says Robin Wilson, chairman and founder of the holding company for real estate, design, and licensing. Robin's childhood was spent fighting off a slew of allergies, a challenging situation that she'd later use to her advantage in her career. After starting in the corporate world, she shifted to real estate development and project management. Robin says she's found resilience and empathy through a network of friends who offer constant reassuring words. "Don't look at other people - run your race," she says. "Set a goal for yourself. Whatever that goal may be, it may be that you don't want to have any debt in one year. It may be that you want to have enough money to go on a vacation or have a certain amount of money in your bank account if that is your goal. Work toward your goal." In Part 1, Robin talks about: * Gratitude to his friends and family who invested in his company and trusted him to use the money wisely. * How her childhood allergies affected her career path. * Why she pivoted into real estate. * Why "resilience" and "empathy" are keywords to her. “All progress takes place outside the comfort zone.”, Michael John Bobak Ok, so this week we've been talking about how you are spending your time during the Pandemic and “slow down” in your life. We discussed 5 ways to unleash your potential in your Personal Life, Your Business Life, Your Motivation Levels and Your Finances. Today, I want to go through 5 Ideas I brainstormed for you to Unleash Your Potential in Your Lifestyle. Obviously, I would love for you to come up with some of your own ideas, but these are here to “jump start” your thought process and possibly inspire ideas of your own…got it? Ok, so what do I mean when I say Lifestyle? Lifestyle & Happiness Well, the truth is I have always pursued and loved the idea of creating lifestyle while you are traveling on your journey to success. I used to think that lifestyle was a destination at the end of a long road of hustling and working hard. I worked and worked to create a life that I thought I wanted. Maybe you've heard this phrase before…."Live today like others wont so you can live tomorrow like others cant.” If I've learned one lesson it is that THIS IS A HORRIBLE IDEA. Why would you wanna grind, hustle, set aside your life so that you can “ someday”, “ maybe live” a life you “ dream about”? I have learned over time that a truly successful person thinks I can have BOTH. Sure, you need to hustle, grids and “ outwork” your competition. But you can absolutely find ways to create Lifestyle, Happiness, Fulfillment and Joy along the road to success. The key is to make the decision to create lifestyle NOW...each and every day. You need to 1)have a strong vision for your future, 2)work like crazy to achieve it, BUT 3)be grateful and enjoy the present. I have said over and over…. "Don't let your vision of the Future Rob you of the Joy in the Present" Here are just a few ways I think you can create some lifestyle (or a better life) while on your epic Journey toward Success in your Personal and Business Life…Remember this key… Life is a Journey. The key is to Enjoy the Ride, Create Great Memories, Grow Yourself Along the Way, and Accomplish Big Things. Is this easy…NO…but thats why you are listening and thats why we are talking about this. You can start today to make these changes. Now those of you that know me probably think that I am going to give you some really cool travel, luxury, cars, watches, custom suits and tech type lifestyle ideas, but it might surprise you to know that I think (and I know) that the best lifestyle is the one that creates peace of mind, amazing memories and once in a lifetime opportunities to grow and challenge yourself….and yes, a few perks and travel as well. So Here we go... Daily Gratitude Ritual The number 1 way to create a life and lifestyle is to LOVE YOUR LIFE…Thats right…LOVE YOUR LIFE…and this takes a daily focus on gratitude. Try to make it a ritual. Make it a daily practice. And guess what…this is also the quickest way to eliminate fear, depression and anxiety. (explain) Simplify Your Life There are a couple ways that you can feel like you are enjoying an amazing life. Keeping up with the joneses will constantly keep you wanting and needing more. Whereas recognizing what you currently have will help you to create an appreciation for what you have accomplished. Let me explain. Entrepreneur A moves into an amazing neighborhood and can barely afford the house at the low end of a neighborhood (just because he or she wants to “live the life of the wealthy”). But because everyone they surround themselves with has more, they are constantly feeling “not good enough”. Thats why people like Gary V tell you to stop buying dumb stuff to fit in. Entrepreneur B buys a really nice house in a neighborhood where they are at the top end of the spectrum. Well they feel like they are “achieving” and creating an amazing life because they surround themselves trying to aspire to be like them. Does that make sense. Its all perspective and its all “how you set yourself up for lifestyle and success mentally”. Now before I get people blasting me with questions on this, let me clarify a little. I am not saying downgrade and I am not saying surround yourself with people less fortunate than you to “feel better”. I am simply saying that your perspective determines your lifestyle. I know people with very little “toys” that live an amazing, happy, flexible and free life. Trying to impress others and push yourself into a scenario you cannot afford is NOT the way to create lifestyle. Being smart and following your own gameplan (not others) is the way to create a Great Life. Simplify your life, the things you have, the pressure you put on yourself, and you will reap the “lifestyle benefits” for sure…. Guided Meditation I firmly believe that if you mind creates your life and it determines your filter on life, then the #1 way you can create an amazing Lifestyle is to control the MOVIE you are playing in your head. Its impossible to do this when you are trying to cu through the chatter of people, environment, social media, pressures, etc. The only way to do this is to learn to slow down your thoughts and focus your thoughts on your vision and gratitude for what you have. Stop letting your mind lead you around and “push you around”. Take the ball and learn to let the expectations and things go. Just LET GO. I have only been able to do this through Mindfulness and Meditation. (explain each) I'm not an expert on mediation and certainly struggle to slow down my thoughts, but you MUST look into this further. Its probably a lifetime process and I will get some amazing people to teach you more on this podcast in the future. For now, go to the Daily Mastermind Mobile App and at least start with some meditations there. They are free. Get Rid of the Clutter Another way to create lifestyle is to get rid of stuff you dont use, need or value. You would surprised how much more free you feel. And, bonus is you probably could use that to buy stuff or pay for experiences you DO VALUE. Let me give you an example. I have owned so many different cars and motorcycles in my life, I look back and shake my head. Everytime I have purchased a Harley Davidson so I can ride with buddies, it ends up sitting in the garage without getting much use. I later sell it and use the money to pay for a trip to Hawaii (several times over) lol. Obviously (referring back to our earlier podcast on finances) this was an expense not an investment. I no longer make those types of dumb decisions. Now maybe you are different and you would drive the harley and create amazing experiences driving up the canyon, but you do YOU. Get rid of the dumb stuff you don't use and find ways to use it on lifestyle memories you would value. Simplify your life….reduce the clutter, get rid of dumb stuff. You don't everything you've convinced yourself you need to be happy. Just think about it. That's all I'm suggesting.Create a Memory This brings me to the final suggestions that I have to create a Lifestyle. Let's have a little fun with this. I believe that best lifestyle is one that creates memories that you will have for the rest of your life. It doesn't require money to create a memory, although money does make for some amazing memories. Money has been able to help me plan trips all over the world. Money has allowed me to travel to Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Asia, and all over to all different types fo destinations. Money has allowed me to own and drive all types of cars, toys, etc. Its even allowed me to enjoy custom suits, expense watches, etc. I (personally) I really like that kinda stuff…not gonna lie. BUT, and this is important. Many of those things I dont even remember. I do remember, however, a trip I did to Orlando Universal Studios I did with my 8 kids. I do remember cramming into a mini van every time we went to eat, etc. (yeah I did say mini van lol). I do remember the time we had a Marvel Movie marathon at home. I do remember sitting at Jarons baseball games, or BBQing in the back yard. Some of the best memories (and lifestyle) you will create don't require a single dollar to spend. You just need to make the decision as to what is important for you and start to create experiences. Make it a goal to create 1 new memory every single week. Get creative… Now I know that you might be thinking…freak George, I cant even go out of the house right now with this virus. Or you may be thinking this will be the most boring summer ever if I cant hit the movie theater, but I'm telling you right now…that is a decision you are making. There are a ton of things you can do right now, inside your house, that will create amazing memories. For those of you struggling…google search it. But here are a few ideas. List from Google... I know that if you will recognize and appreciate the little things in your life, you will definitely be happier, more fulfilled and more productive. A happy life is a successful life. A Happy and Productive life is the Ultimate Lifestyle… Until next week, George Wright III
