She is the author of "Encore", and a former international law firm attorney who made a bold mid-life pivot to create a more intentional life. This episode of The Future Built Smarter—one in a series of conversations with IMEG's market leaders—examines the industrial and manufacturing sector with Mike Walsh, Senior Director of Industrial. The teams under his leadership work on a broad range of projects from aerospace to wastewater treatment facilities. "The diversity of our work is what makes it exciting—every project has its own set of challenges and opportunities," he says. Challenges currently facing industrial and manufacturing clients include speed to market (proper planning is critical to avoid delays that can cost companies millions); talent shortages (a lack of skilled professionals affects both operations and project execution); and technology integration (AI, automation, and robotics are becoming essential in addressing labor shortages and improving efficiency). "We're seeing more companies invest in automation, not just to improve efficiency, but to fill the gaps left by labor shortages," Mike says. Ensuring reliable access to power—a topic Mike examines in an IMEG blog post—also is critical for industrial and manufacturing owners. This is due to several factors affecting the power grid: increased demand due to population growth and electrification; increased power consumption by high-computing AI and data centers; aging infrastructure; severe weather impacts; and long lead times for major electrical equipment. "Securing enough power to support operations is one of the biggest challenges companies face today,” Mike says. “If you're not thinking about power availability early in your planning process, you could be in for a long and costly wait.” To avoid such delays, he advises clients to evaluate power availability early in their project planning—ideally before purchasing land. The challenges and opportunities in the rapidly developing industrial market make it imperative for owners to take a proactive approach, Mike says. This will enable them to stay ahead of the curve and build smarter, more sustainable operations. "The companies that succeed will be the ones that embrace change and invest in the right strategies today."

In this episode, we talk about the big mistake many brands make when planning and measuring their ads. Our guest, Chelsey, explains why you can't measure awareness, consideration, and conversions the same way. She breaks it down simply: Awareness ads should be measured by how many people see them (reach, impressions, CPMs). Conversion ads should be measured by results (sales, revenue, ROAS). Chelsey also talks about how brands can estimate the impact of awareness ads on conversions using smart data models. Plus, she shares tools like GA4 and media mix modeling (MMM) that help brands understand which ads are working best. Tune in to learn how to fix your media planning and get better results from your campaigns!

Welcome to The Rocky Garza Show. Today, I have a very special guest—someone who is not only incredibly smart and talented but also family. My brother-in-law, Jared Thornhill, joins me to discuss health, longevity, and proactive wellness.About JaredJared is the owner of Thornhill's Pharmacy, with 2 locations in Lubbock & Shallowater, Texas. Their primary focus and drive is to help people live a healthy, fulfilling life through education and supplementation.Discussing Health and Fitness ImportanceMany high performers, business owners, and leaders struggle with maintaining their health while managing their responsibilities. Over the past two years, I've noticed changes in my own energy and motivation. Jared and I dive into how to prioritize health in a sustainable and realistic way.Jared's Background and Personal Health JourneyJared and his wife own two pharmacies in West Texas. His perspective on healthcare shifted dramatically after two life-changing events:COVID-19, which made him rethink mainstream health advice. His father's sudden health decline, which highlighted the importance of preventative care.Seeing his father go from being highly active to relying on multiple medications in a short span of time pushed Jared to re-evaluate health from a proactive perspective. The Five Pillars of HealthJared emphasizes five key health pillars, ranked in order of importance:Sleep – The foundation of all health.Hydration – Essential for overall function.Diet – Fueling the body with quality food.Exercise – Movement for longevity.Supplements – Filling in the gaps when necessary.Deep Dive into SleepSleep is the most important health factor. Without it, mental, physical, and emotional well-being suffer.Natural melatonin production is triggered by sunlight exposure.Reducing screen time before bed can improve sleep quality.Supplements like magnesium, L-theanine, GABA, and melatonin can support relaxation.Hydration EssentialsWater is crucial, but electrolyte balance matters, too.Drinking excessive plain water can dilute essential minerals in the body.Adding electrolytes like LMNT or Nuun improves hydration.Salt is not the enemy—it helps maintain proper balance if kidneys are functioning well.Diet and Nutrition InsightsModern diets are fueling a health crisis, particularly in children.Balanced intake of protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs is key.Processed sugars and fast food contribute to diabetes and metabolic dysfunction. The focus should be on sustainable, long-term nutrition, not fad diets.Exercise and Physical ActivityMovement is essential but doesn't have to be extreme.15 minutes of daily movement is better than nothing.Exercise isn't about aesthetics—it's about longevity and independence as we age.Functional fitness, like being able to carry groceries or play with grandkids, should be the goal.Resources Mentioned: For those ready to optimize their health, Jared recommends three key supplements:Vitamin D3 + K2 – Supports bone health, immune function, and longevity.High-quality Fish Oil (EPA/DHA) – Reduces inflammation, supports brain health, and improves cardiovascular function.Probiotics – Maintains gut health, which impacts digestion, immunity, and overall well-being.Health isn't about perfection—it's about proactive choices. Start small, focus on consistency, and build habits over time.Choose one area to improve this week.Prioritize longevity over short-term gains.Your body is your most valuable investment—take care of it.If you're looking for high-quality supplements, check out the links in the show notes for Jared's recommendations.Key Timestamps00:00 Introduction and Special Guest Announcement00:19 Discussing Health and Fitness Importance01:14 Jared's Background and Personal Health Journey04:46 The Five Pillars of Health05:47 Deep Dive into Sleep10:37 Hydration Essentials14:25 Diet and Nutrition Insights19:25 Exercise and Physical Activity22:08 Top Supplements to Consider24:59 Conclusion and Final ThoughtsTo join Rocky for his next free virtual event, go to https://rockygarza.com/beyondsuccessSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/trgs/donations

Wayne Turmel is a co-founder of the Remote Leadership Institute, and co-author of The Long-Distance Leader and The Long-Distance Teammate. Wayne provides insights into the evolution of the workplace, the challenges of remote and hybrid work, and how leaders can adapt to these seismic changes. Wayne emphasizes the importance of intentionality in remote leadership and explores how technology, communication, and accountability shape successful remote teams. He introduces practical frameworks like the “3 Cs” of culture: Communication, collaboration, and cohesion. He explains why trust is at the heart of remote work, and covers the pitfalls of micromanagement, the necessity of proactive behavior in teams, and the role of leaders in navigating the complexities of hybrid work. Key Takeaways [03:15] Wayne reflects on the technological advancements that have revolutionized remote work. He mentions how tools like Zoom, Slack, and Teams replaced older platforms like Skype for Business, transforming communication and collaboration. He explains that the pandemic accelerated the adoption of remote work, turning what was once a prediction into a global reality. [05:12] Wayne explains that trust is essential for remote work to succeed. He outlines three key elements: a shared mission, effective use of technology, and accountability. Trust enables team members to rely on one another, and without it, remote teams can struggle to function. [06:41] Wayne highlights the need for intentionality in remote leadership. Unlike in-person settings, remote leaders can't rely on casual interactions or physical cues to gauge how their team members are doing. Instead, they must proactively check in, build relationships, and create opportunities for engagement. [13:03] Wayne introduces the “3 Cs” of culture: Communication, Collaboration, and Cohesion. He explains how teams can intentionally design their culture by focusing on how they communicate, how work is done, and how team members connect. He shares practical examples, like creating informal Slack channels for casual conversations, to foster connections. [18:23] Wayne emphasizes the importance of proactivity. Great teammates go beyond their job descriptions—they step up during meetings, reach out to struggling colleagues, and contribute ideas. Proactivity builds trust and strengthens team dynamics, which is critical in remote settings. [25:40] Wayne argues that micromanagement undermines trust and creates unnecessary stress. Instead of focusing on how much time employees spend logged in, leaders should evaluate their teams based on outcomes and contributions. Micromanagement often leads to frustration and disengagement, both for leaders and employees. [31:42] Wayne notes that 70% of white-collar work now involves writing, yet many employees haven't been trained in effective communication. As remote work relies heavily on emails, chats, and written reports, he encourages leaders to invest in improving their team's writing skills to ensure clear and effective communication. [44:36] Wayne believes the future of work isn't just about where people work but how they work together. He stresses the need for intentional strategies that balance productivity, flexibility, and employee engagement. For leaders, adapting to these changes requires focusing on outcomes, fostering trust, and maintaining a clear vision. [46:49] And remember, “We should be in constant evolution and adapt to the new without ever losing our essence or our integrity.” - Pedro Capo Quotable Quotes "Trust is the glue of remote work; without it, teams can't thrive." "Remote leadership requires intentionality in every interaction." "Culture doesn't happen by chance; it's built through communication, collaboration, and cohesion." "Micromanaging remote teams is a fast track to frustration—for both leaders and employees." "Great teammates are proactive, productive, and long-term thinkers." "Leadership isn't about where people work; it's about how they work together." "The world has changed, and so must our approach to work." "The future of work isn't just remote; it's intentional." In episode 639, Megan chats to Justin Moore about how to secure, price and carry out brand deals to generate consistent income using Moore's eight-step process - “the sponsorship wheel framework”. Justin Moore is a Sponsorship Coach, author, and the founder of @CreatorWizard, a school & community that teaches you how to find & negotiate your dream brand partnerships so that you stop leaving thousands on the table. His latest book, "Sponsor Magnet," offers a succinct distillation of his ideas and frameworks for securing successful brand collaborations. Along with his wife April, he has been a full-time creator since 2014 and has personally made over $5M working with brands. He also ran an influencer marketing agency for 7 years that helped other creators earn millions more. Justin brings a very unique perspective because not only has he been a creator in the trenches doing sponsorships for years but by running an agency, he has insider knowledge behind how big brands choose which influencers to partner with and why they pass on others. Justin's mission is to enable creators big and small to land 1 million paid brand partnerships by 2032. In this episode, you'll learn how to pitch effectively and build lasting relationships with the brands you admire and why it's essential to avoid exchanging work for free products. Key points discussed include: - Proactivity is key: You need to be proactive in your approach to sponsorships, not just reactive to brand inquiries. - Relationships matter: Building strong relationships with the humans behind the brands can lead to recurring partnerships. - Knowledge is power: Researching your audience's psychographics and the brand's needs can give you a competitive edge. - Avoid the free stuff trap: Be cautious when accepting free products, as there may be hidden terms that could harm your rights. - Negotiate platform terms: Brand deal platforms can be valuable, but you should negotiate the terms to protect your interests. - Showcase your professionalism: Delivering high-quality content on time and being responsive can make you a brand's favorite to work with. - Leverage post-campaign reports: Providing detailed post-campaign reports, including testimonials, can lead to repeat collaborations. - Manage your mindset: Approach sponsorship opportunities with a mindset of learning and growth, rather than fear or resentment. - Prioritize your own advocacy: Consider managing sponsorship opportunities in-house rather than relying solely on agents or managers. Understanding Scoliosis Across Life Stages: From Adolescence to Menopause In this episode of "Scoliosis Treatment with Dr. Tony Nalda," we delve into how scoliosis affects individuals differently at various stages of life, emphasizing the impact of growth and hormonal changes, especially during menopause. Types and Causes of Scoliosis Scoliosis, a multifactorial condition, manifests primarily as idiopathic scoliosis in adolescents, accounting for 80% of cases. This form lacks a singular cause, often developing due to multiple factors during juvenile years and exacerbating during growth spurts in puberty. Other less common types include: Neuromuscular Scoliosis: Linked to conditions affecting connective tissues or the nervous system, such as cerebral palsy or Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, leading to abnormal spinal curvatures due to tissue rigidity or laxity. Congenital Scoliosis: Caused by malformations like hemivertebrae during fetal development, resulting in inherent genetic scoliosis present from birth. Degenerative Scoliosis: Typically found in adults over 50, often post-menopausal women, resulting from spinal shifts that go uncorrected and lead to asymmetric spinal deterioration. Traumatic Scoliosis: Arises from spinal injuries that cause curvatures. Gender Differences in Scoliosis Idiopathic scoliosis predominantly affects females during adolescence, with girls ten times more likely to develop and see progression in scoliosis than boys. This is attributed to earlier and quicker growth spurts in girls, which exacerbate spinal curvatures during critical developmental phases. Scoliosis in Menopause Menopause marks another critical phase for scoliosis progression, particularly in women who may not have had scoliosis during adolescence. Known as de novo scoliosis, this form develops due to hormonal changes and bone density decreases associated with menopause, leading to vulnerabilities in the spine, particularly in the lumbar region. These changes can accelerate scoliosis progression due to reduced osteoblastic activity and increased susceptibility to compression. Importance of Early and Proactive Treatment Regardless of when scoliosis develops—whether during rapid growth phases in adolescence or as a result of physiological changes during menopause—the key to managing the condition effectively is early detection and proactive treatment. Addressing scoliosis when curvatures are smaller and before significant progression occurs can greatly improve treatment outcomes. This applies to both conservative and surgical interventions. Closing Thoughts Understanding the nuances of how scoliosis can develop and progress at different life stages, particularly in response to hormonal changes in women, underscores the need for regular monitoring and early intervention. Proactivity is crucial, not only in managing the condition but also in potentially mitigating its impact on quality of life. This episode offers insights into the dynamics of scoliosis across life stages and the importance of tailored approaches to treatment. Unfortunately in the early discovery days (there have been 3 major ones over 20 years) I dug for the most amount of detail surrounding my husband's outlets possible. At the time I did not know how damaging this would be for us both. I didn't know gathering the details would cause further trauma to me. I found out that my husband has an ideal body type he has fixated on from early teenage years. It's very specific and nothing like my body. Rationally I know that his porn of choice and women of choice have anything to do with me. I try my best to not see my difference in appearance to these fantasy women as shortcomings. HOWEVER, one of the biggest challenges we face in our relationship is that we have a mutual friend in our life, that is the wife of my husband's best friend, who happens to match my husband's ideal fantasy body type. Every time we are around them I am hyper vigilant, watching his every move. I can't relax and I don't think he can either. It's not fun for me to be around them anymore. I hate to even write this because they're amazing people, the wife and I get along so well. Neither of them have done anything wrong towards me. We find ourselves in group settings often with them and the rest of our friends as well. So we never have a time where we hang out with friends without them there. I hate that I have feelings before the gathering hoping they'll decide to stay home. I feel like a terrible person. I've also been so triggered that others have taken notice, and I have to brush it off and say things like I'm not feeling well. I feel like I cannot be authentic at all and I feel like I keep repeating d-day over and over again every time we are together. How can I be around this person, and separate what's happened between my husband and I? Is it even possible? The wedge between my husband and I grows each time we hang out with them. I want to have fun with my husband again, I want to laugh with our friends, I don't want to watch my husband, I want to enjoy life because our friends are such a huge part of it, but I don't know how. First, let's talk about “complex trauma/betrayal”—the unfairness of it; how it spills over into and impacts SO many aspects of a partner's life; how the survival brain tries to cope . . . hyper-vigilance; personalization, etc—ALL legit! What can a betrayed partner in this very REAL situation, DO? Where is the EMPOWERMENT and PROACTIVITY?First, your feelings ARE legitimate! You're in a relationship that you were led to believe would be faithful, loyal and exclusive. Through discovery/disclosure, you discovered that your porn/fantasy-addicted partner has a “favorite/preferred/ideal/” body type that does NOT match yours! Of course you REACT! Process & journal these feelings out; express them to your support system and when safe to do so, transparently express them to your addict partner—may need to be in writing first; then when safe, face-to-face—get it all out on the table. This is where you get to assess your willingness/abilities to come together as a TEAM to COLLABORATE! This takes INDIVIDUAL WORK FIRST—Addict: shame resilience/defensiveness/reactivity work; leading out, leaning in, empathy, etc; Betrayed Partner: sovereign, independent healing work. Be mindful of the “fallacy of fairness.” As a “team” NOTHING IS OFF THE TABLE! What will truly meet individual and coupleship authentic wants and needs going forward?
