Here are the key points from Jay's conversation on Industrial Talk: Digital Projects is a software platform that digitizes the entire lifecycle of a project, from planning to handover. The platform uses the latest cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative pre-trained transformer models, to automate many of the tasks involved in a project, such as clash management, data collisions, and issue management. This can lead to significant reductions in project schedules, costs, and risks. The platform is also able to handle legacy documents and information, making it a valuable tool for brownfield projects. Digital Projects can help to reduce project schedules by up to 25-30%. The platform can automate many of the tasks involved in a project, freeing up engineers to focus on more strategic work. Digital Projects is able to handle legacy documents and information, making it a valuable tool for brownfield projects. The platform is designed to be integrated with other systems, such as ERP and PLM systems. Digital Projects is being used by a number of leading engineering firms, including Jacobs, Fluor, and Bechtel. The platform is still under development, but it has the potential to revolutionize the way that projects are managed. Hexagon is developing a new technology called Smart Digital Reality (SDR) that will help to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering projects. SDR will do this by digitizing all of the information related to a project, including 2D and 3D drawings, vendor information, and procedures. This information will be stored in a central repository where it can be easily accessed and shared by all project stakeholders. SDR will also automate many of the tasks involved in engineering projects, such as clash detection and issue management. This will free up engineers to focus on more strategic work and help to reduce the time and cost of projects. Here are some key points from the conversation: SDR is a new technology that is still under development. However, Hexagon is already working with some of the world's largest engineering companies to test and refine the technology. SDR has the potential to revolutionize the way that engineering projects are managed. It could help to reduce the time and cost of projects, improve accuracy, and increase collaboration. SDR can be used for both greenfield and brownfield projects. It can also be used to improve the efficiency of turnarounds and other maintenance activities. SDR is compatible with a wide range of existing engineering software systems.Hexagon is committed to making SDR as easy to use as possible. Overall, Digital Projects is a powerful platform that can help to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability of projects. This technology has the potential to make a significant impact on the engineering industry, and it is worth watching as it continues to develop. Listen to a conversation with Meredith McCoy and Matthew Villeneuve about historical and current strategies that Indigenous people used to repurpose the educational systems for Indigenous well-being. In this episode, we are also joined by a student audience Q&A. Meredith McCoy is an Assistant Professor of American Studies and History at Carleton College. She is of Turtle Mountain Ojibwe descent, and her father, David McCoy, is an enrolled Turtle Mountain citizen. Meredith's research examines how Indigenous families, educators, and community leaders have long repurposed tools of settler colonial educational violence into tools for Indigenous life. Her first book, a history of Indigenous strategizing in federal education funding and policy, is currently under contract with the University of Nebraska Press. Matt Villeneuve (Turtle Mountain Chippewa descent) is Assistant Professor of U.S. History and American Indian Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he teaches courses in American Indian History, Native education, and environmental history. His research focuses on Native histories of education and schooling. His current book project, "Instrumental Indians: John Dewey and the Problem of the Frontier, 1884-1959," is an intellectual history of America's most prominent philosopher of education and democracy and his relationship to the anti-democratic nature of federal Indian schooling.

WBSRocks: Business Growth with ERP and Digital Transformation
Managing digital projects have never been easier. While there have been tons of attempts to improve the process with Agile methodologies, the timeline, budget, and scope are still tough to manage. There are several explanations as to why digital projects are harder. For example, each digital project is fairly unique, even if it is repeatable ERP implementation. Then you have the problems of invisibility. Managing digital projects have always been art and science. That's probably the reason why the success of these projects varies so much.In today's episode, we invited a panel of cross-functional experts for a live interview on LinkedIn who brings significant expertise to discuss planning for digital projects. We covered many grounds in this episode, including capturing the appropriate scope, iterations, and phases. We also discussed the pros and cons of using process templates from various vendors. Finally, we discussed several stories to identify the initial beachhead for e-commerce success and ongoing measurement and development. For more information on growth strategies for SMBs using ERP and digital transformation, visit our community at wbs.rocks or elevatiq.com. A year or two ago I read a sci-fi novel in which some of the main characters were sentient robots. When two of them would meet they establish secure channels with dialog such as "I am Paladin. You are unknown. Here comes my data. We want information about a pirate named Judith Chen. She goes by Jack … That is the end of my data." For some reason the line "Here comes my data" stuck with me. I immediately wrote it down as a possible title for a mix. I thought it would fit well with a slightly more upbeat electronic mix. And so this mix was born, or more like artificially grown in a lab. The mix starts with a track from Saul Stokes. I haven't listen to Stokes in years but when I stumbled on his album "Local Crowd," I knew I had to include it. He still has a unique sound which comes from, I believe, the fact that most of his synths are built from scratch. The rest of the mix a a nice combo of new music with some older tracks, some from as far back as 2003. Oops! One short track is from 1987. I think the whole mix hangs together quite well, with the vibe of a digital handshake. Cheers! Are you starting your projects off on the right foot and giving them the best chances for success? Project beginnings can be ambiguous and confusing—in this episode, Suze Haworth shows us her approach for getting clarity, setting expectations, and making sure the bases are covered, before the project is underway.
Planning a vacation? In order to step away from work without having to answer emails during your time off, you need a successful project handoff. In this episode, PM Mackenzie Dysart walks you through the steps to make project transitions a breeze so you can enjoy your vacation and ensure you don't return to chaos!
If you ask just about any PM how their work is going, how do you think they'll respond? 'Sorry, I've got no time to talk right now, I'm totally slammed! Maybe we can touch base next week? 'My own experience of PM'ing is that it's a demanding role, we carry the responsibility of delivering a project to our best ability and we desperately want our projects to succeed. So we run around as though our pants were on fire, trying to herd cats, and doing things that we think will make our project succeed. But is our busyness really helping deliver a better project? Is it really helping our team, and our client? Maybe, but often, it's not. So what's the solution? All will be revealed in today's podcast as we talk about ways that we can be less busy, but more productive.
Scope creep can be very costly and very hard to identify—and, luckily, very manageable. In this episode, we talk about scope creep, what causes it, and ways to manage scope creep with Suze Haworth, a Senior Digital Project Manager with over a decade worth of experience in web builds, social campaigns, and digital media.
“Oh, I love being managed!”, said no one ever. How do we manage our teams effectively without being micromanager? How do we manage agile teams who don't want to be managed? In this episode, Sarah Hoban, a PMP-certified Project and Program Manager, talks about how to do your job effectively as a project manager on the sly.
Are you delivering projects on budget, on time, and in scope? You want your team to be able to hit their milestones—and it's your job to guide the process with project controls. In today's DPM podcast with project manager expert Maik Stettner you'll learn how to use project control documents like status reports and RAID logs in order to keep your projects on track.
Ben Aston and Robyn Reynolds introduce an anonymous advice column for digital PM's to ask awkward questions and share their own stories of managing tricky situations in the life as a digital project manager.
Emily Carbonell-Ferguson hosts a roundtable discussion with Patrice Embry, Abby Fretz and Ben Aston on the sometimes confusing job titles we use as we progress through our DPM careers; digital project manager vs senior digital project manager vs producer vs account manager - what's it all about? Is there really any difference between us? Or should we be calling ourselves something different altogether?
