Episode 453... Happy Tax Day, punkers! Another very special episode for you, this time celebrating yet another new release, Die At The Plant. It's a gritty Tax Day collaboration between El Matador, the former bassist for legendary Chico punk band Fight Music, and Brothers Grim Punk (BGP). Better yet, El Matador himself joins us on the episode! Do yourself a favor and read the mind-blowing lyrics on this album, and get it for free on our Bandcamp page. So much good stuff in this episode... we discuss how ridiculous the algorithm and federal taxes have become, but El Matador gives us a major piece of history connecting Sublime to Chico, CA. 453 is a must listen. Today we sit down with fellow coach Cody Guilateri, owner of Midpoint Fitness in Melbourne Florida. Cody and I got connected through a mentorship group and after hearing his story I knew we'd have some good stuff to talk about on the podcast!Today Cody shares his story in how he grew up an obese child and in order to make change he took some drastic measures one summer and ended up losing about 90 pounds in 3 months! Cody even admits to this day that this approach was extreme and very unhealthy, as a result from this starvation diet he had the bone density of a 65 year old lady and had to undo some of the damage he had caused during his weight loss journey. In the process of getting to a truly healthy state Cody stared to explore a multitude of fitness modalities to get him to the place he is today. Cody has done traditional bodybuilding, endurance training, MMA, Boxing and Ju-Jitsu, ATG training and so much more!Cody believes that being able to change up your fitness routines and not get pigeon holed into one specific type of training is what has kept him focused and engaged through all his years of training and brings this philosophy into his gym with his own clients! Based on their goals he implements all different types of training focuses to keep his clients growing!Growth as we talked about on the podcast is one of Cody's main drivers in life and even outside of the gym Cody talks about how he's put work into other areas such as mental health and psychology in order to become a better person and coach! We even dive into the psychology of human needs and how we make our choices everyday to achieve them! I hope you guys enjoy the episode! You can follow Cody @codytoofit

Another exciting announcement is we are going to be starting online and in-person training for all of you guys that are interested in learning this business or really just getting educated to apply for another business in your city so we're excited to be able to offer that it's going to be the end of 2019. When that launches so you will get certified and crime-scene cleanup and meth lab clean up and learn this business from the ground up. Just like our guys do you ever wonder what happens when the police leave crime scene cleaners are private companies that handle to clean up after the police are gone? Spalding decon is one of the 0nation's largest clean up companies handling the aftermath of homicides, suicides decompositions, Auden, and much more. These are stories olara hell and we are here in Melbourne Florida doing a horde and suspected Biola to harm you. My name is Fiona and my first gig today so super excited I didn't really know what to expect with this job, so literally like I came in with a blank slate. When I walked in it was almost like overwhelming, because it was just stuff like everywhere. Generally no like where to begin oh you guys know what happened like no I literally know nothing a guy was staying overnight with a friend who went to bed after an argument like an altercation woke up chased a guy around the house with a shotgun shot him twice and had just enough time to reload. It was a fun whistle, as she does but I'm kind of you to know like, but I don't understand there's like giant holes in the roof. As they're walking they're still putting more holes. We are going to do is we're just content I don't know how I can see per mole, so I'm going to try to cheat for home respirators hotter person. I don't see any biohazard as a great, so and even saw my mattress there's not like it's not you know, it's not a typical blow your brains out with a shotgun type of that so definitely need respirators our mold everywhere. So you can see that this is collapsed and there were two trees in the house. Hurricane Herman did it and we're just here's ago September 10, I'm not there when we're working in here and disturbing stuff, we're definitely gonna be using our respirators mosquitos. A little ridiculous like I'm gonna catch like the West Nile or something. The bathroom is over there and it really pretty starts on the back tile. We're gonna turn around the roof and literally open and in every room, if you wanna try not to go too far, the kitchen is really bad and we're gonna empty out the house Guys, and pretty much yet we're just doing the house and it's gonna be, so they want to fail clean and there's no way it's gonna be sales clean in there, because of everything.Going on, so we're gonna empty the house empty the garage and we'll figure that part out and we'll wipe down the flats. Our business we'll do a sweep like that's about. All we do guys, we are in Riverview Florida you can see the Flies flagger on my head and it's definitely been an interesting evening. I got this call about 8 o'clock and now, it's 10 o'clock so we have a 2 hour response time. Good thing is, we all had our dinner they follow a gentleman that was not an elderly man, they found him after about four to five weeks, the coroner said unknown cause of death if the array of lies and it is just shocking to me, absolutely shocking that there are hundreds of hundreds and thousands of flies. Nobody's even sure how they got in here and the first first day is gonna be a two-day guy. The first day is we're actually just gonna come in and remove the biohazard, so you can see this is where the gentleman died and the odor is not terrible at all, the only thing different about this guy than most of our other decamps, this one smells a little sour and I don't know if it's because of the AC and where it was said that it was set at 73. I'm not sure but he's been here a while, so we did look underneath the bed and there is some biohazard and under the bed.Tonight's main focus is going to be removing the mattress and the box spring. What the coroner had left for us is in the pile, he did die in bed and this is actually some of his arms. Right there, we have some of his hair up towards the top. We have more body hair over there, sadly we don't see any maggots there and aren't any maggots right now, but if you turn around and you look on the bed the Flies are feasting. We're gonna go ahead and suit up and we're gonna get this party started because I kind of wants to be home before 1 a.m. They sell this house and they fix it up and sell it. Offer to disclose happened to them when I bought mine like essentially, what I do now anytime I rent or purchase a house and I start garden anyway by automatically grow stage. I'm not sure what the worst job would be, for me it might be decomposed but it's not really the smell it's more of a texture thing. Mold from the leap which makes sense look at it, I literally thought I found a shotgun and I was terrified. I'm really surprised it was no blood and actually it really didn't look like, so we are here on the day. Number two of the mermaid suicide and I found out details this morning that it was a gunshot suicide. There's no blood splatter and he did it very neatly and won't go inside. All the reason, I called it a mermaid because of the way. Unfortunately, he had killed himself and it literally looks like a mermaid fin whole nine yards.

In this episode we sit down and talk with my bodybuilding coach, Ryan Zeisloft. Ryan has been my coach for the last 4 months and before he was my coach we were working out in the same CrossFit Gym here in Melbourne Fl. We get into Ryan's story about what first got him into Bodybuilding, how it was all a challenge to do something one of his friend's said was the "hardest thing he has ever done" Ryan loving the challenge was already hooked and became a multi year first place Men's Classic Bodybuilding Champ.Ryan talks about what it takes as an athlete to succeed and how many people think its the cliche stuff out there what it really takes to succeed is patience, and to not overthink things too much, just stick to the plan and you'll see the results down the line.We also talk about what he's learned as a coach and what we both see as a problem in the fitness industry when people focus too much on the methods of how to lose fat or gain muscle when they should be focusing on the principles! If you learn the principles there are hundreds of ways to facilitate the same outcome. Ryan tells us his new physical endeavor this year is CrossFit and how that journey is compared to his Bodybuilding and Weightlifting days. On top of this we tackle the use of steroids in both spaces and how they can effect men and women in a positive way and negative way if overused. And lastly we get into some practical things all of us can start to focus on now during COVID-19 to Come out of this situation in a better place than where we started. Start to build the skill set of weighing your foods, knowing what certain portions sizes are and learning new food recipes!Overall I think there is a ton of value in this conversation between Ryan and myself and I hope you all enjoy it! P.S.-If you are someone who's ready to Take Back Your Body I am getting ready to role out my new 90 day program! Below will be the application to get on a 20 min call to see if you're the right fit! Welcome. I’m Jim McGinnis and This is the first episode of Stories We Can Tell. It’s a place for the thoughts, musings and passages of this old Floridian. What can you expect? At its heart, reflections on history, literature, and music…stories about individual journeys and struggles and victories. It’s about Americans, America—or as much of it as I have seen. I’ve been teaching and coaching down here in my hometown of Melbourne Florida, for the past 35 years, mostly American History…but this is not some collection of oral history lessons (actually that’s not completely true) But anyone who knows me will tell you I’m a hoarder of quotes, and one of my favorite is Will Durant’s description of civilization: “Civilization is a stream with banks. The stream is sometimes filled with blood from people killing, stealing, shouting and doing things historians usually record; while on the banks, unnoticed, people build homes, make love, raise children, sing songs, write poetry and even whittle statues. The story of civilization is the story of what happened on the banks." I like to think that Mr. Durant’s words better describe where I’m going with these conversations. Three years ago, I wrote a book called “Tending to the Past” (imagine that!) —“Reflections of an American History Teacher.” Since then, I published a collection of poetry called “Points South,” And surely a verse or two will slip in from time to time. As far as the podcasts go, oftentimes, my studio is my back porch, where there are frequently sounds of crickets and birds, barking dogs, rain hitting the tin roof, and trains. A siren works its way in from time to time, along with a motorcycle screaming down 192 . So I apologize for the background noise and raw recordings, but that’s me—I kinda like it that way…I hope you do too…unbridled and unvarnished. Well, let’s get started shall we?

That's it! My reputation, my career, my possibility of getting into a good university is over. All because of some silly things I posted online. This is sometimes the conversation we fear having with others about something we said online. Or more likely, something one of our students said online.Today I talk with Susan Bearden author of Digital Citizenship: A Community-Based Approach, about this very scenario and much more. We cover what digital citizenship means, what it looks like in practice, a few resources that are available online and what the future of it all might look like.Connect with Susan @s_bearden SusanMBearden.comBioSusan M. Cigar of the Week -Emilio AF-2 Robusto The AF2 blend, produced and blended by A.J. Fernandez is crafted from rich Nicaraguan fillers combined with the strength of Pennsylvania ligero and a beautiful Ecuadoran Habano Oscuro wrapper. These cigars are available in cabinet boxes of 20 in four sizes: Robusto, Toro, Torpedo, and BMF. What else have you been smokin' Dale? Rocky Patel Burn Special Reserve Robusto - 5” x 50 - First released in late Feb., the Burn by RP was developed for sale in all RP Lounges and is made at the Tobacalera Villa Cuba factory. Named for the Burn by Rocky Patel Lounges & dressed with two bands, the cigar is as attractive as it is delicious. A darkly fermented Ecuadorian grown Sumatra wrapper covers fillers & binder from Nicaragua. A rumor, as yet unconfirmed by this reporter yet from a good source, says that Dion Giolito helped with the blending of the cigar. It also comes in Toro (6” x 52) and a Titan (8.5” x 60) sizes. Lots of earthy, dark & rich flavors with more sweetness than one might expect. I found cocoa, cedar, molasses, stewed plums and nutmeg spice. Full bodied, full flavored and very well balanced. A luxurious cigar! Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 - What a disappointment after smoking the Burn a few days earlier! Not a bad cigar, but certainly not up to the high premium level of the Burn, in all categories. Construction was weak, as there was an underfilled portion about 2” in causing the cigar to tunnel. Flavors were OK, but not nearly as well balanced. The pepper was good, but far too strong over the core of leather, and masked most other minor flavors. The tobaccos didn’t seem nearly as well fermented. The cigar burned fast and tended to go out often. Macanudo Cru Royale Robusto - In our What Else segment last week, Jerry Cruz talked about how the new Partagas 1845 was a hit, where as the more recent Macanudo offerings didn’t hit the mark. I wanted to go back and compare, so I smoked the Cru Royale this week again after having not smoked it for several months. What else have you been smokin' Bob? Man O War Armada - $500 for a box of cigars, even a box of 32 cigars, is beyond most people's reach, including mine. Can a cigar really be worth $20? No, but the cigar and its accompanying box can be according to Man O’ War maker A.J. Fernandez and the pricing on the Armada. In the finest tradition of Gurhka, AJ has produced a cigar that, while providing artistic packaging and exceptional flavors, is just not practical for most cigar smokers. This cigar is a tasty elixir draped in a dark, toothy, Ecuador-Sumatra wrapper leaf that brings a full-frontal assault of flavor. Would I recommend them? - Yes. Would I buy them? - No. Emilio Cigars Grimalkin - Grimalkin is a unique blend, produced in Esteli, Nicaragua from carefully selected tobaccos. This cigar will be limited in quantity based on harvest conditions. Grimalkin cigars are available in 3 sizes: Robusto, Toro, and Torpedo, and come in cabinet style boxes of 25. Medium bodied and complex, Grimalkin is a complex cigar with several nuance flavors. It took me smoking a couple of them to really get the point but once I did I fell in love with them. Notes of pepper, raisins and a citrus sweetness combined with the texture of the smoke (not chewy but textured like work leather) make this an outstanding cigar in the true tradition of boutique cigars. What's my band? Thank you to Dan Crouch for providing this week's unbanded cigar, the Gran Habano Blue Label. Do you have a suggestion for the unbanded cigar of the week? Every week Bob and Dale include an “unbanded cigar” segment in their show in which they smoke a cigar without any markings and give their honest opinions. Remember you must re-enter each month to be eligible to win. May's contest winner of a black Palio cutter is Officer Paul.Cigar of the Week -Pinar Del Rio Toro Capa MaduraThe medium-bodied Pinar Del Rio (PDR) 1878 Cubano Especial Capa Madura cigar was created by Abraham Flores using a dark, triple-fermented Arapiraca Maduro wrapper from Brazil, Criollo 98 binder from the Dominican Republic, and a blended filler of Nicaraguan and Dominican Republic origin - all grown from Cuban seed. The very reasonably priced PDR 1878 Cubano Especial Capa Madura is well constructed and finished with a beautiful pigtail cap. The cigar's flavors are subtle with notes of sweetness, earthiness, and spice, and the smoke it produces at rest and in play is voluminous. What else have you been smokin' Dale?Padron Serie 1926 80th Perfecto Maduro - 6.75” x 54 - Released to celebrate the 80th birthday of Jose Orlando Padron, these perfect perfectos (the first production cigar of this shape for Padron) are the ultimate in Padron goodness! At about $30 per stick ($240 in boxes of 8 cigars) these would be a celebratory cigar for me, and I smoked this one (which was gifted from Mark Neff) on Memorial day in tribute to those who have fallen to allow me the freedom to smoke fine cigars. A full bodied cigar, the smoke is dense and chewy. Flavors are typical of the 1926 Serie - Cocoa, cream, coffee, and muted exotic spices (nutmeg, cinnamon) over an earthy, leather core- but even richer. Perfect construction, perfect draw and tons of smoke with a heady room aroma. The finish lingers and points out the extremely well aged tobaccos. In the last 3rd, the flavors all become enhanced leading to a full-on happy dance of the palate. I never thought I’d find a cigar I like better then the Padron Serie 1926 #9 Maduro, but this is all that and more!Partagas 1845 - The newest release from General Cigar, Partagas 1845 is a line extension with an old heritage and a new blend. They describe it as full flavored & medium bodied with hints of cocoa and coffee. The blend is Dominican Piloto Cubano and Nicaraguan tobaccos from 3 different regions. Some of the filler is aged in Dominican Rum barrels. The binder is Connecticut grown Habano and the wrapper is Ecuadorian grown Habano from the Viso priming. I tried 3 different sizes this week - Corona Extra (4.5 x 46), Robusto (5.5 x 49) & Gigante (6.0 x 60). It also is available in a Double Corona (7.25 x 54). I really like this blend, and prefer it far above the original Partagas blend with the Cameroon wrapper. Much richer with some nice sweetness. I did find some coffee & cocoa flavors, along with toasted nuts. A touch of mineral and citrus came and went every now & then. I did find it to be medium bodied and enjoyed all 3 sizes, with the Corona Extra hitting my palate the best. It had a touch more savoriness. Now if they would just put it out in a Corona Gorda size......What else have you been smokin' Bob?Pinar del Rio PDR 1878 Reserva Dominicana - Like rafting down a river of Nestle's chocolate with its lightness and slight sweetness that really brings out the best of the blend.Pinar del Rio Small Batch Reserve Cubra Habano - Abe Flores is a quiet man with an infectious laugh. His quiet ways may hide his expertise in blending fine cigars but when he puts out product like this, the world will soon shout his name. The best PDR to date, complex flavors of leather, salt, sweetness and a fine nuttiness to balance the acidity. One incredible cigar.Torano 1959 Exodus - Torano is still making top notch cigars in its quiet way. Not flashy but a really smooth cigar with lots of leather and some hints of nuttiness and slight acidity. What's my band?Thank you to Scott Rohrer for providing this week's unbanded cigar, the J. Fuego 777 Maduro Corona.Do you have a suggestion for the unbanded cigar of the week? Cigar of the Week - Declaration by Brad Mayo at Jameson Cigars A showcase of Dominican tobaccos, Declaration features an aged Habano ’98 wrapper paired with a Criollo ’98 binder and select filler tobaccos from the prime growing regions of the Dominican Republic. The unabashed enthusiast can expect deep, bold flavors and a memorable, medium-full bodied smoking experience. Suggested Retail Range – $6.95-$8.65 per cigar Manufactured at Tabacalera LaAlianza S.A., Santiago, Dominican Republic What else have you been smokin' Dale? Trinidad Coloniales - 130 mm (5.12”) x 44 - For my money, one of the most refined and well balanced Habanos in a small format. Creamy coffee, light chocolate, sandelwood and mild exotic spices notes. Medium bodied smoke with a long finish. Be sure to sip on these to keep them cool and be able to notice all the complexity. Some of the fainter flavors you may pick up are lemon citrus, hazelnuts, yeast, …..... Oliva Serie V Lancero - 7” x 38 - Nicaraguan puro with a Habano Sungrown wrapper that is oily exquisite! Coffee, spice, cocoa and roasted grain flavors in a bold & smooth smoke. Full bodied, full flavored and one of the more affordable priced Serie V sizes. Alec Bradley Prensado Corona Gorda - 5.6” x 46 - Nicaragua & Honduran tobaccos done right! Talked about these in other sizes recently, so I wanted to smoke the Corona Gorda next. This had the same smoothness, red pepper spice and core leather & coffee notes, but the spice was more prominent and there was a touch more richness then the Churchill or Gran Toro sizes. Pinar del Rio Robusto - 5” x 50 - Domincan & Nicaraguan tobaccos in a reddish Habano Sungrown wrapper. Very earthy with a notable well fermented tobacco aroma. Cedar, spice and everything nice! What else have you been smokin' Bob? SouthBound Series Latitude by Jameson Cigars: Latitude is the first release in the bundled SouthBound Series. A medium-bodied value smoke meant to be enjoyed every day. Latitude features Dominican fillers bound with a Criollo 98 leaf from the Dominican Republic and finished off with a broadleaf wrapper from Pennsylvania. Punch After Dinner Maduro: If you want an 'authentic' full-bodied Honduran blend you can't miss with this cigar. Blended with Honduran, Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos wrapped in oily Ecuadorian-grown Sumatra wrappers, it is rich in flavor, high in quality and affordable. The 20 count box is made of the same type of material used for bullet-proof vests (however, the box is not bullet-proof grade). Origin: Santiago, Dominican Republic Wrapper: Nicaraguan, Corojo Binder: Dominican Filler: Dominican & Nicaraguan fillers, aged for 5 years Sizes: Robusto: 5 x 52; Toro Gordo: 6 x 54; Torpedo: 6 1/4 x 54 What else have you been smokin' Dale? EPC Short Run 2012 - I wasn’t able to take notes while I smoked this, but enjoyed it tremendously. Compares favorably with the earlier version, but lacks just a touch of the depth and complexity. Trinidad Ingenios, 2007 Edicion Limitada - 6.5” (165mm) x 42 - This Cervantes, or Lonsdale vitola was a new special size for the Trinidad limited edition in 2007. They were presented in a cedar box of 12 cigars in one layer. The cigar is finished with a pigtail cap and has the standard band used since 2003 with the EL band below it. More aged barnyard flavors then when I first tried one in 2008, and a much more pleasant experience. Still has lots more aging potential! Fuente Fuente OpusX Bad to the Bone - A mid-sized Salamone shape with the unmistakable “firecracker” type head finish. The nipple of the foot is finished in a maduro wrapper. Probably the sweetest Opus X I’ve ever had. Mixed with great spice, cedar and cereal grain flavors, that toffee-like sweetness was a perfect combination. Full bodied, med-full strength and off the chart full flavored! It burned perfectly, clear to the nub, for 85 minutes and I immediately wanted another one. What else have you been smokin' Bob? Davidoff Millenium Blend - A robusto sized pack of pure joy. There are some cigars that when I smoke them, the pure quality, complexity and savoir faire just make my eyes light up and really appreciate the better cigars. This is one. Mild to medium with fine smooth flavors of leather, nuts, coffee and excellent acidity. An excellent cigar. My Father Le Bijou - I smoke a lot of cigars every week and it is nice to get some that really stand above the rest. This cigar is peppery, smoky and very smooth. What's My Band?- This week's unbanded, the Cromagnon Knuckle Dragger Petite Robusto, was suggested by Derek Matthews. Do you have a suggestion for the unbanded cigar of the week? Cigar of the Week - Toro y Leon Habano Claro Exclusivo This exceptional cigar is a mélange of carefully selected and extremely aged tobacco leaves from Toro y Leon's fields in Esteli and Jalapa Valley in Nicaragua. Born from Cuban-seed long-filler and binder, these cigars are all draped in a rare Habano-seed “desflorado” wrapper. The plants require constant vigilance and when the flower buds are just getting ready to bloom they are cut off giving the tobacco an extra rich and smooth flavor, making this type of wrapper to be among the best and the most expensive available anywhere. El Centurion Robusto - 5” x 50 - A Nicaraguan puro made by Pepin Garcia utilizing Criollo ‘98 and Corojo ‘99 tobaccos that were matured for 3 years prior to rolling wrapped in an oily Habano leaf. This line was kicked off with only 850 boxes in 2007. Coffee, spice, caramel, cedar and roasted nuts are just some of the well balanced flavors in the full bodied smoke. The cigar starts off with that signature Pepin pepper in a creamy base. A light fruitiness like Bartlet pears appears occasionally throughout the cigar. The room aroma is bold and leathery. A truly wonderful cigar that pairs well with coffee or good brandy. Thanks to Paul P. for sharing this cigar - it’s right in my wheelhouse! La Escepcion Edicion Regional Italia, Selectos Finos (panatela) - 6.5” (166mm) x 38 - This regional edition revives an old Cuban brand that was established in the 1850’s and was discontinued in 1989. Habanos SA released 2000 boxes of this in 2011 for the Italian market, packaged in dress boxes of 25. Many thanks to Mark Neff for giving me the opportunity to try this cigar, which by the way, is a cigar worthy of a limited edition. Superior construction with a silky smooth Colorado Claro wrapper. The draw is just barely snug at the start, but opens up nicely after about ½”. Medium bodied, cool smoke is produced in spades, with a sweet cedar and light earthy core of flavors. The cigar is complex, offering additional flavors all along it’s length - black tea, citrus, sugar cane sweetness, light coffee and mild white pepper are just some of the overtones that easily were noted. A very nice cigar with a sophistication to it. Perfect anytime, but one I’d especially choose for a formal occasion. What else have you been smokin' Bob? CAO OSA SOL Lot 50 Cabaiguan Maduro Robusto - Craig inspired me. Also smoked more of the Flor de Copan - not a bad filler stick.. What's My Band?- This week's unbanded, the Avo Heritage Short Robusto cigar was provided by Jeff Curtis. Bob: Distinct hay aroma on the prelight sniff test. It's a nubby or what is now being called a half corona by some. Paired with Frogs Leap Chardonnay 2010 which is a herbal, astringent, crisp wine, the cigar is medium flavored but too much strength. The Cigar has a nutty retrohale. Together, the cigar is elevated with more smoothness and less bitter flavor. This cigar seems to burn hot and has a leathery, nutty retrohale but with too much nicotine. Wine was GR8T with or without the cigar. Last ⅓ of the cigar I got some leather and coffee flavor but it was too late to save this stick. Now I need to brush my teeth... Dale: Peaty barnyard aroma on the prelight. Wrapper is a gorgeous, oily Colo Maduro color. Good draw and good construction. Full bodied with a leather core. Some toffee sweetness, coffee and a touch of toasted nuts. Copious amounts of cool smoke. Some tannins in the last half gave good balance to the savory flavors. A bit strong, but not overly - best for pairing with a peaty Scotch like Lagavulin or Talisker, or maybe a big tawny Port. I think Honduras tobacco, no guess as to mfg. Cigar of the Week - Wicked Indie from The East India Trading Company line of The Gurkha Cigar Group The Wicked Indie blend is comprised of an oily Habano, Nicaraguan wrapper; a carefully selected Nicaraguan binder; and a rare, 3-year aged Nicaraguan filler. It will be available in 4 sizes with an MSRP ranging from $4.79 - $5.90. This cigar encompasses a rich and complex taste profile, full of sweet spice and nuttiness that evolves to a long and cool finish. 5 x 52 Robusto 6 x 54 Toro, 7 x 50 Churchill 6 x 60 XO What else have you been smokin' Dale? Punch Rare Corojo Magnum (5.25 x 54) and Punch Rare Corojo 10th Anniversary Robusto (5.0 x 50 - For those who want to taste the difference between wrappers, this comparison is a good one. Both of these cigars use the exact same filler (Dom, Hon & Nic) & binder (Connecticut Broadleaf). The original Rare Corojo is wrapped in a Sumatra leaf with a beautiful reddish color with lots of oiliness. The 10th Anny version uses a Connecticut leaf with a lighter reddish color that appears more delicate. I find the original to be a bolder cigar and a bit stronger then the 10th Anniversary. The original has more sweetness, the Anny has more floral notes. Both burn well, provide a lot of smoke and are med-full bodied. I like them both and seem to choose the original after dinner while the Anny fits me better in mid-day. What else have you been smokin' Craig? Cabaiguan Maduro - From a box I bought after returning from Esteli. These cigars are always evolving, never intimidating. Great ‘daily’ smoker, even if you smoke much less often then that. Padilla - 1932 - These 1932s were some of the best cigars ever produced by Jose Pepin Garcia, or sold by Ernesto Padilla. Now nearly 5 years old, they represent the quintessential mellowed Nicaraguan tobacco that when rolled was some of the highest quality coming out of Central America. Toasty, nutty, rich & savory. Truly a discontinued cigar to seek out. Bought from a vintage cigar retailer, these cigars are even a bargain at their $14/stick asking price today. Reynaldo 2010 - This custom Cuban cigar is rolled as a Petit Cimarones vitola (aprox 5”x58 figurado). Delivering cocoa & chocolate sweetness they demonstrate how Cuban tobacco can be molded to provide different flavor profiles than the typical Marques give you. A good cigar that really shined when it was even fresher. What else have you been smokin' Bob? ORTSAC Bulletproof 1962 Torpedo - Complex, full flavored and medium bodied. A very good smoke. What's My Band?- This week's unbanded, the Flor de Copan bundle cigar was suggested by Dan Crouch. Bob, who swears that he won't buy any cigar that starts with "Flor de" liked this cigar! Bob: A slight grassy sourness that I found very light on my palate. I genuinely enjoyed this cigar. Craig: 4-7/8”x44rg - I have $400 to spend on cigars left over from 2011 taxes & a year of penny pinching. After this cigar I am strongly considering sending it to DC to have him stock my humidor. Yet again he provides a delicious unbanded example. The initial light delivered strong woody flavors that were typical to Nicaraguan tobacco from the Jalapa region. 5 puffs later and the woodiness I tend to dislike transitioned beautifully into a lovely Nicaraguan sweetness. Like sugary orange juice concentrate, the flavor sticks to your palate & provides a tremendous finish that continues right until you take your next puff. I can type a few sentences and still taste the cigar. Epic. A bready, yeasty flavor jumps in there like a cranberry orange breakfast loaf. Do you have a suggestion for the unbanded cigar of the week? Cigar of the Week - Esencia Petite Corona 5 1/8 x 42 Filler: Nicaragua Binder: Nicaragua Wrapper: Nicaragua Origin: Honduras What else have you been smokin' Dale? Padilla La Terraza Capa Habano Serie 2010 - 6” x 52 - Nicarugua Puro with a beautiful Habano variety wrapper that is oily & toothy. Finished with a well done triple cap and dressed in a double band. Coffee, cream and leather are the core flavors, and they’re balanced with an exotic spice that builds from foot to head. As the cigar finishes, dark coffee and those cinnamon and nutmeg spices dominate. Full bodied and medium strength - a great late night cigar that pairs well with Highland Scotch. The La Terraza name comes from the Cuban restaurant made famous by visits from Hemingway. Leon Jimenes #4 - 5.625” x 42 - Dominican filler & binder covered in a delicate Connecticut shade wrapper. Made at La Auroro since 1987, this is an “old school” Dominican style cigar with mild levels of flavor intensity, medium bodied smoke and outstanding floral room aromas. Cedar, sweet grass and light coffee flavors with a touch of almond nuttiness. Augusto Reyes Nativo Toro - 6.2” x 54 - A complex blend of Dominican Piloto Cubano, Olor and Criollo wrapped in a Criollo ‘98 leaf that is beautifully fermented to a dark maduro and almost dripping with oils. Toasted breadiness, cedar and mocha flavors that are bold and balanced. Sweetness appears at the end of the first ⅓ that is like toffee. Quite full bodied and a long, deep finish. Oliva Serie G “special G” - 3.7” x 48 - A silky Cameroon wrapper over Nicaraguan tobaccos in a short & sweet size that is perfect for a mid-day break. A medium bodied cigar with light coffee & cedar flavors, topped with spice, nuts and some light sweetness from the Cameroon leaf. What else have you been smokin' Bob? Kristoff Sumatra, Churchill - medium bodied cigar with velvety floral notes, spice, cinnamon and a smooth sweet finish. Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sumatra Binder: Brazilian Filler: Cuban Seed Dominican, Cuban Seed Nicaraguan Kristoff Sumatra Robusto 5.5 x 54 Kristoff Sumatra Matador 6.5 x 56 Kristoff Sumatra Torpedo 6.25 x 52 Kristoff Sumatra Churchill 7 x 50 CAIN Straight Ligero Habano - Slight saltiness on the tongue distinguishes this blend from its brothers in the CAIN line up. Bitter almond on the retro-hale and full flavors of coffee and expresso in a smooth dark package. This really is one of my favorite CAIN cigars that goes especially well with coffee or raspberry tea. Twenty five percent Esteli Ligero Twenty seven percent Condega Ligero Thirty percent Jalapa Ligero Nicaraguan Habano wrapper, triple fermented filler Ortega Serie D No 6 What's My Band?- This week's unbanded, the Black Patch Classic Robusto 4.75x48 was suggested by Jon French. Bob's review: Sat down with a glass of Sans Soucy Vineyards Reserve Traminette, a white wine from Virginia. The cigar gave me a decided prelight aroma of chocolate. It was a slightly refined aroma of barnyard that reminded me more of chocolate. The wrapper is a light brown or dark natural color, slightly mottled. The cigar flavors seemed to dance in my mouth and really took the edge off the natural bitterness of the Traminette. The cigar could have been bolder to really exploit the wine. However, the cigar flavors were tannic with traces of leather and oak. The retrohale was nutty and only slightly sharp. Grassy flavor came in after the first third. Not my favorite flavor but because of the wine it was not the least bit obtrusive. Do you have a suggestion for the unbanded cigar of the week? Do you have a Cigar Review or a comment about the show? If you call and leave a cigar review or comment on the herfline and it is played on the show, you will receive a DogWatch Cigar Radio patch!
