New Testament Studies at Biola University joins the Burros to share his testimony. It's a fascinating story of a young man who watched his parents get radically saved during the Jesus Movement in California and soon he himself would call on Jesus for salvation. What would follow was a life devoted to sharing the gospel and teaching others in new and exciting ways. Kenneth Berding is author of various books, some academic (such as Polycarp and Paul), some semi-academic (such as What Are Spiritual Gifts? Rethinking the Conventional View), others for-the-classroom (such as Sing and Learn New Testament Greek or The Apostolic Fathers: A Narrative Introduction), and still others for-the-church (such as Walking in the Spirit, Bible Revival: Recommitting Ourselves to One Book, or How to Live an 'In Christ' Life). He has published articles in such journals as the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, Vigiliae Christianae, New Testament Studies, Journal of Early Christian Studies, and Westminster Theological Journal. He is the founder of Bible Fluency: Sing It, See It, Study It (biblefluency.com), and edits the Good Book Blog. Before coming to Talbot, Berding was a church planter in the Middle East and taught at Nyack College in New York City. He has a heart for God and ministry, has written many worship songs, and has served as a worship pastor in local church ministry, and is an Overseer at Redemption Hill Church in Whittier, California. He regularly blogs at Kindle Afresh: The Blog and Website of Kenneth Berding (kennethberding.com) and at The Good Book Blog. Thanks for listening! In this Dojo Discussion we welcome Dr. Kenneth Berding, New Testament scholar from Talbot School of Theology in Los Angeles who has just written the first ever academic book devoted to the topic of Paul's mysterious “thorn in the flesh” comment in 2Corinthians 12. Is it possible to know what Paul's “thorn” may actually have been? For the past 100+ years scholars have largely given up even trying to solve this millennia-old mystery. But Dr. Berding is trying to change that with this landmark in-depth examination of this ‘thorny' exegetical issue!

A while back I featured Jordon Monson on my podcast who presented a particular view of Satan or "the satan" in the book of Job. This view has been widely promoted by Michael Heiser, who some of you may be familiar with because of his hugely influential and successful book The Unseen Realm. But his view is only one perspective on how to think about "the satan" and how to translate it in Job. The more traditional position deserves a thorough representation and defense, which I believe is compelling. So to present this view, I asked Dr. Ken Berding to record an article he wrote on the matter.
