Sali Christeson is the Founder and CEO of Argent. Sali had a vision to arm women with a wardrobe that delivers style, functionality, and self-expression as they take their seats at the table. Since its inception, Argent's mission has been centered around forwarding women's progress, both through its product collections and brand initiatives. We discussed all of this and more this week on the On Brand podcast. About Sali Christeson Sali Christeson is the Founder and CEO of Argent, a venture-backed women's clothing label on a mission to redefine workwear and drive forward women's progress. A business major with an MBA from the University of South Carolina, Sali spent a decade in the Bay Area's finance and technology space, where she struggled to find work clothes that were bold, practical, and professional. For too long, workwear for women had been stagnant, constricting, and lacking key functional elements as simple as pockets. After reading hard statistics that women in the workplace are judged on appearance, which results in a tangible impact on their income over time, Sali founded Argent with a vision to arm women with a wardrobe that delivers style, functionality, and self-expression as they take their seats at the table. Argent's community counts leaders and disruptors like Dr. Jill Biden, Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, Meghan Markle, Gloria Steinem, and Amy Poehler as members, and is backed by industry leaders, including Founders Fund, Fuel Capital, Katrina Lake, and Brooklyn Decker. To date, Argent has partnered with Supermajority and Michelle Obama's organization, When We All Vote, to advocate for women's voting power. In addition, Argent created the first jeans designed for the office with denim brand AGOLDE, launched its first wholesale relationship with Nordstrom, and opened three NYC storefronts since the pandemic. The stores are built specifically for working women to help support them with their professional wardrobe overhauls as they navigate shifting dress codes/hybrid schedules. From the Show What brand has made Sali smile recently? Like many, Sali is excited about all of the energy and excitement around Kamala Harris's presidential campaign. She also shared some smiles she had with her kids around the Super Smalls brand. Connect with Sali on LinkedIn and Instagram and listen to Argent's Work Friends podcast. Fire on A-4! MISS! Fire on G-7! HIT! YOU SUNK MY BATTLESHIP! With these classic words, an entire dynasty of gaming was born. Helen's face may have launched a thousand ships, but 'You Sunk My Battleship' has launched millions. So, naturally, someone had to come along in the mid-2000s and make a Transformers-inspired movie about a game inspired by tactical naval warfare. Instead of a classic World War 2 Navy propaganda piece, which the game was based on, we got a 2012 alien invasion... Navy propaganda piece. Because why not. This week on The CineMeh Podcast, Josh and Ryan take on Battleship, a mashup of Rolan Emerich nostalgia and Michael Bay bombast that absolutely no one was asking for. Hasbro thought they struck gold with Transformers and that there was more oil in that well. Turns out there was only saltwater, and this film sunk faster than the Titanic. Put on the Village People's "In the Navy," grab your party favor captain's hat, and pour a shot of Ol' Pusser's Rum... we're going nautical this week! Battleship was released in 2012 and stars Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker and Liam Neeson. The CineMEH Podcast is a Slyjack Media, LLC production Like what you hear? Starting solids is one of the most exciting milestones for you and your baby. Whether you're serving up purees or following baby-led weaning, offering a wide variety of new flavors, tastes, and textures can lay the foundation for a lifetime of healthy eating habits. When it comes to feeding baby solids, however, it's important that they're exposed to vegetables frequently and from the start which helps to foster a love for these foods and can go a long way in helping kids to be healthy, adventurous eaters now and throughout their lives. Rates of childhood obesity, type-2 diabetes, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) are on the rise, and although there are many factors at play, diet is one of the best ways to prevent these conditions. In this episode, I sat down with Betsy Fore and Sofia Laurell, co-founders of Tiny Organics, an early childhood nutrition company on a mission to build a healthier generation of adventurous eaters with vegetable-first foods for babies and toddlers. Betsy, Sofia, and I talk about their backstories, why they started Tiny Organics, and their journey to launch a food business in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. We also talk about their veggie-first approach, their focus on real, whole foods and the flavor window of 4 to 7 months, and why comfort food can actually be savory. They also talk about what makes them different from other baby food solutions, how they are building valuable relationships with their customers and engaging them in their brand, and how they're changing the conversation around feeding baby solids without making moms feel any guilt or shame. Welcome 3:15 Let's talk about your stories! 10:00 Have you always been passionate about healthy eating and food? 11:56 Why did you start Tiny Organics? 21:55 What was one challenge that you think was a great learning lesson? 25:25 What can people expect when they become customers? 28:54 What is your direct-to-community approach? 32:57 What are your favorite tips for feeding little ones? 35:33 What is your and your children's favorite Tiny Organics meal? LINKS MENTIONED IN THE SHOW Sofia mentions Human Ventures. Sofia explains that Tiny Organics partners with the Food Bank for NYC. Betsy mentions that Brooklyn Decker is one of their investors. Betsy talks about the Tufts School Of Nutrition Science and Policy. Betsy mentions Michelle Obama and Partnership For a Healthier America. Learn more about Tiny Organics on their website. This podcast covers New Girl Season 2, Episode 15, Cooler, which originally aired on January 29, 2013 and was written by Rebecca Addelman and directed by Max Winkler. Here's a quick recap of the episode:The guys determine they're all ready to have sex again and have a night out togther. However, Jess gets paranoid while she's home alone, and makes the guys come home early. She tries to show them she's not a “cooler” so they play their second on-screen game of True American, which leads to an exciting predicament for Jess and Nick shippers… We discuss Pop Culture References such as:Abu Nazir (Homeland) - During the game of True American, Schmidt calls out “Abu Nazir” who is a fictional character from the TV Show Homeland. Inspector Gadget - When trying to get Nick to kiss Jess, they encourage him to inspect her tonsils like Inspector Gadget. Additional Pop Culture References such as:Band of Brothers - When they guys see Holly at the bar, they confirm they're like the group from Band of Brothers. Band of Brothers is a dramatized account of "Easy Company", assigned to the United States Army's 101st Airborne Division during World War II. Gang related / Crips - Jess heard the sounds at the door and was worried it was gang related. She was also concerned about her blue curtains and whispered “Crips” when on the phone with Nick. The Crips are a gang based in the coastal regions of southern California whose members traditionally wear blue clothing. “I am not a crook” - During the True American game the loft calls out “I am not a crook”. Amid charges for the Watergate scandal, President Richard Nixon infamously said, "I am not a crook" during a press conference in Orlando, Florida. We also cover Schmidt's dismissal of Shivrang's “English” accent as our “Schmidtism” this episode as well as give Schmidt's dancing an honorary Schmidtism. In our “not in the 2020s” section we talk about how Schmidt makes light of Nick being sad. We also discuss how Cece “lying” for Schmidt so he can move on is a “yes in the 2020s” moment as well as how comfortable Sam was in his relationship with Jess. We also explore the careers of Brooklyn Decker (Holly), Sal Stowers (Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Girl), and Andree Vermeulen (Beth), the guest stars of this episode. Also in this episode were the following guest stars who we do not discuss in the podcast: David Walton (Sam - discussed on S2E3), M. Hasna M. (a movie-goer), Jocelyn Osorio (Andrea), Katie Wee (Palm Reading Girl), Brenda Song (Daisy), and Satya Bhabha (Shivrang).Additionally in the podcast we discuss how the beer that the loft is drinking is Heisler beer and mention a few other shows that also use this fake beer brand. We had also previously included links to find “instructions” on how to play True American on S1E20's show notes which can be found here. While not discussed in the podcast, we noted other references in this episode including:London Fog - Schmidt refers to Nick as London Fog, telling him he's “hot to trot”. London Fog is an American coat manufacturer known for making trench coats, raincoats, jackets, and parkas. London Fog was also a nightclub in the 1960 in Los Angeles and is a hot tea-based drink including Earl Grey tea, milk, and vanilla syrup.401(k) - When Nick is trying to convince Holly that Schmidt is happy he mentions that he has a 401(k) which is an employer-sponsored pension plan where employees can deposit into their retirement funds directly from their paycheck and is sometimes matched by their employers. There are two main kinds including an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) and tax exempt or EET.Throughout the game of True American, there were many historical and political references such as:Clinton - Bill Clinton was a former US president who was impeached after lying to a grand jury about his affair with Monica Lewinsky, who was at the time a White House intern.Joe Biden - Joseph Biden Jr. was born in 1942 and was elected the 46th President of the United States in 2021. Prior to his time as President he was also the Vice President of the United States and the Delaware Senator for 36 years, being sworn in just after he turned 30.Howard Dean Scream - Howard Dean is a retired American politician who was the Governor of Vermont from 1991 to 2003 and is also a physician, author, and lobbyist. When he was a Presidential Candidate in 2004, he lost the Iowa Caucus to John Kerry and while reassuring his supporters listed out the states he would win and screamed “Yeah!” which became popularly known after it was broadcasted over 600 times in the next 4 days.Hawley-Smoot Tariff - This is a United States tariff in 1930 that was passed to help American farmers by raising taxes on imports by up to 20%. The stock market did not react favorably to its passage and the timing coincides with the start of the Great Depression as the tariff raised prices that led to other countries having retaliatory tariffs on US goods as well.Mulligan - This is a golf term that means the second attempt after the first one didn't work. The earliest known use of the term is from 1931 in a daily newspaper in Detroit and most believe that the term came from a golfer with the last name Mulligan.Iron Curtain - This is the political and military barrier that the Soviet Union created after World War II to keep itself from the Western and non communist countries. Although it had been used sparingly since the 19th century, Winston Churchill, the British prime minister, used the term in a speech in 1946 which solidified the usage of the term.“Amber Waves of Grain” - This is a lyric from an American patriotic song called “America the Beautiful” which refers to fields in the plains area where wheat (which is golden in color) is grown. The song was written by Katharine Lee Bates in 1893 and was set to music and officially titled “America the Beautiful” in 1910.Mason-Dixon Line - This was a line separating the borders of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and West Virginia which also was seen as the border between the North and the South during the American Civil War. It originated when Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon surveyed the land in the 1760s to solve a border dispute which had been going on for almost a century.Gettysburg - This was a battle during the American Civil War fought in July 1863 which is described as the war's turning point and involved the largest number of casualties in one battle in the entire war. It is also the location where President Lincoln gave his famous speech, the Gettysburg Address.Bull Run - This battle was the first major battle of the American Civil War in July 1861. This battle caused both sides to realize that this war was going to be much longer and bloodier than anticipated and highlighted many of the problems that were typical during the first year of the American Civil War.This episode got a 10/10 Rating from both Kritika and Kelly and we both had the same favorite character: Nick! Thanks for listening and stay tuned for Episode 16!Music: "Hotshot” by scottholmesmusic.comFollow us on Twitter, Instagram or email us at whosthatgirlpod@gmail.com!Website: https://smallscreenchatter.com/

In this episode of the podcast Joe talks to world famous author Heidi Murkoff. They discuss her book "What to Expect When You're Expecting", how she has grown her brand from one book to an entire "What to Expect" brand, and the current focus on #BumpDay Enjoy! About Heidi Murkoff It all started with a baby and a book. Heidi Murkoff conceived the idea for What to Expect When You're Expecting during her first pregnancy, when she couldn't find answers in the books she turned to for much-needed advice. Just hours before delivering her daughter Emma, Heidi delivered the proposal for a pregnancy guide that would help other expectant parents sleep better at night. She was a mom on a mission — a mission that was only getting started. Dubbed the “pregnancy bible,” What to Expect When You're Expecting has more than 22 million copies in print. Now in its 5th edition, the book hit a publishing milestone in June of 2015 when it became the longest-running title of all time on The New York Times bestseller list, a record it still holds. USA Today has named it one of the most influential books in a quarter century — also reporting that it is read by 93 percent of women who read a pregnancy book. About #BumpDay In 2015, The What to Expect Project debuted the social campaign #BumpDay with founding partners International Medical Corps, 1,000 Days and the United Nations Foundation Universal Access Project and in collaboration with WhatToExpect.com. The campaign celebrates beautiful bumps and healthy pregnancies around the world, while raising awareness about the urgent need to end maternal deaths and to advocate for improved maternal-health care both in the U.S. and globally. #BumpDay encourages moms to post photos of their bumps while sharing messages of support for moms – and has generated hundreds of thousands of posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, including from such influencers as Olivia Wilde, Christy Turlington, Coco Rocha, Brooklyn Decker, Pharrell Williams, TV personalities Sarah Haines, Jessica Moore, and Jenni Pulos, as well as numerous policymakers. The total reach across all social platforms for #BumpDay 2018 was over 33 million. In 2020, #BumpDay received mentions from Forbes and the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, and numerous leading domestic and global health entities and organizations were actively involved, among them the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, March of Dimes, the National Partnership for Women & Families, the National Association of County Health Officials, mothers2mothers, Project Hope, the Hunger Project, Pathfinder International, and Jhpiego. An Interview with Brooklyn Decker
Guests include the director of one if this summer's most anticipated blockbusters, Peter Berg, whose film “Battleship” hits theaters May 18th. Director, actor and producer Peter Berg joins Rich in studio to discuss a variety of topics, ranging from his new action-packed flick “Battleship” to his critically acclaimed television series “Friday Night Lights” and more. “Battleship,” which has an all-star cast consisting of Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna and Brooklyn Decker, hits theaters next Friday domestically after a successful international premiere in Tokyo last month. It also stars Greg Gadson, a former Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran who lost both of his legs in combat and is the current director of the U.S. Army's Wounded Warrior program. Berg, however, didn't seem to care much about hawking his latest movie, wanting to discuss instead an initiative in sports that he is incredibly passionate about.Concussion prevention and player safety are very important to Berg, and he genuinely believes the problem -- and the solution – begins at the youth football level. He, along with others like Bobby Hosea and LaVar Arrington, are trying to change the system and how America's youth are taught the game, working to ensure proper technique and form are implemented from the beginning. Berg's passion about player safety stems from a real-life incident that took place while he was on location in Austin, Texas preparing to shoot the first season of “Friday Night Lights.”It's a fascinating listen, so enjoy and, as always, thanks for downloading.
