When we initially got into real estate investing, we had one thought. What's the worst thing that could happen? Well for many investors, they'll tell you just that. “You'll be fine! It's not like your house is going to burn down”. Well, it happened. In this week's episode we share the story of how our rental property burned down and the steps we took next. We discuss the details of the fire, including how we were notified, how we responded, the damage that was done, and the exact steps we took next from insurance to tenant communication. We understand that a property fire is a difficult experience for any property owner or tenant, and we want to share our experience to help others who may go through a similar situation.**If you enjoy the podcast, would you please consider leaving us a review on Apple Podcasts? This week's episode features Yaamu Camara, originally from West Africa. Trying to write a description for this episode that would truly do it justice was an impossible task. Yaamu's story of perseverance and overcoming life's shortcomings is bonestly only like one we've ever read in story books. Yaamu grew up as an orphan in a village where she was forced to sleep on cardboard boxes throughout most of her early life. She buried herself in books and made a pact to herself that she would one day make a better life for herself. Not only that but she would one day buy an entire house so she could sleep in her own bed. Fast forward to 2023, Yaamu is living in the United States with a real estate portfolio of over 30 units. After speaking with Yaamu, we realized that we legitimately have no worthy excuses left and need to get after it every single day. This is an episode you'll come back to from time to time when you need a little inspiration. We promise, her story is one for the books. Diego is from Peru and came with his family to the United States as a tourist legally when he was nine years old. After his parents visa expired six months later, they stayed in the US as undocumented immigrants. Congress calls Diego and other's like him "Dreamers" as they came into the country with their parents and have become Americanized and are now adults. They are all faced with many challenges since they are undocumented, and at this time in 2019, there is no path for Dreamers to become American citizens. Despite all of the challenges Diego faced when going to school and starting his career, he knew his "why" and pushed to build wealth and a successful career in real estate- all at the young age of 29. Because of his amazing success, Diego has been featured in Forbes and has given a Ted Talk. Get in touch with Diego: https://diegocorzo.com/
In this episode of the Millionaire Mindcast, we have a return guest, Diego Corzo who shares his entrepreneurial, investing, and wealth-building journey, the hurdles of being an undocumented citizen, appreciation of properties, reinvesting, and getting momentum, creating a money-machine, and mindset strategy on unlocking financial independence! Diego Corzo is a 32-year-old DACA Recipient, Forbes-featured Entrepreneur, Real Estate Investor and Realtor, and TEDx Speaker from Austin, TX. He was born in Lima, Peru and came to the US at the age of 9. Diego is a humble man of action that creates a massive success. After college, Diego started working as a software developer in Corporate America and soon discovered that he was destined for more and pursued a career in Real Estate. Today, Diego attains success across real estate investing as well as in his realtor business. In fact, his team is ranked #16 in the US by the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals. He owns 61 properties and multiple million dollar companies. Since the last interview with him in 2019, there has been lots of change and growth. Being undocumented still a challenge, but it never stops him to achieve great things. Resourcefulness, having strong WHYs, and work ethics have helped him figure it out. He is not just on creating a huge portfolio in real estate, but also elevates other people without any expectation of returns. Diego's goal is to continue to inspire others to reach their version of the American Dream and their true potential. Some Questions I Ask: For those who don't know you yet, talk about your entrepreneurial journey. What was that mindset that embodies you that overcomes the hurdles and achieved success? Where are you today? How did you do from 0 to 61 doors despite being an undocumented citizen? What's been going down since we last chatted with you? What is your formula for identifying key relationships? How are you operating, investing, and leading today versus Diego in 2019? Where did this Financially Independent Investors community come from? How is your strategy changed in terms of exponential wealth-building and growth? What is your mindset around accumulation and more wealth and income? In This Episode, You Will Learn: The two ways for people to make money. The importance of having a strong WHY. Capitalizing partners. What is an ideal real estate/business partner. Acting in the zone of genius. The 6 key things to financial independence. Diego's lesson learned from biggest mistake Quotes: “The people want something but if the why is not strong enough, they're gonna create excuses.” “Through time, momentum becomes your friend and it becomes easier.” “At the end of the day, it's not having an agenda but really caring about other people.” “There's nobody that is self-made, there's always somebody that has helped people.” “The good stuff always takes time.” Resources Mentioned: Rat Race to Fi Mastermind Leap book by Howard Yu Connect with Diego Corzo on: The Financial Independence (FI) Investors Group Instagram @realdiegocorzo Email: info@diegocorzo.com Sponsor Links: Policy Genius: Get a free 60-day trial in Shipstation with code: MINDCAST Talkspace: Use code for $100 off: MINDCAST GoBundance - Text: "MILLIONAIRE" to 844.447.1555 LinkedIn Sales Solutions: Click on the link to get a Free 60-day Trial on LinkedIn Sales Navigator Accredited Investor List - Text "DEALS" to 844.447.1555 Free Financial Audit: Text "XRAY" to 844.447.1555 Upcoming Events: Text "Events" to 844.447.1555 Millionaire Notes: Text "Notes" to 844.447.1555 Connect with Matty A. and Text me to 844.447.1555
So many of us keep on chasing success. We scramble frantically and hustle hard just so we can get a taste of financial freedom. But the more you chase success, the more it could elude you. Success is not something to be pursued; it's something you attract. Diego Corzo, a realtor at Keller Williams Realty, joins me to talk about his journey to becoming a millionaire. I personally think you would tremendously benefit from the lessons he learned—from experience and mentors alike—on how to build wealth and achieve financial freedom. Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation: Learn how to manage wealth Build passive income through real estate Determine your superpower Find and leverage market opportunities Episode Highlights: [12:19] Achieving Success Success is something you attract by the person you become. Before you become successful, you must first become someone who knows how to handle wealth. [16:58] Diego's Mastermind Rat Race to FI helps people achieve financial freedom. What they do is walk them through the amount of cash flow they need to do what they truly want. Then, they teach them how to build passive income through real estate investing. [26:35] Finding Your Superpower Find your unfair advantage. Then, partner with someone with a different unfair advantage that can help you. Your unfair advantage in real estate can be time, knowledge, expertise, or money. [29:35] What the Future Holds Diego told me that wants to keep growing his brand and collaborate with other people. Collaboration allows him to reach and connect with more people. He also wants to build his team and automate their systems. Find opportunities through off-market deals. You could also consider dealing with foreclosure properties. Know how to negotiate the right deals. Finally, get lines of credit to leverage equity. [40:52] The Keys to the Vault Remember the six keys to becoming the person who achieves financial freedom: managing your personal finances, scheduling personal development, understanding the power of your peer group, setting goals with accountability, building a money machine, and investing in passive income. Notable quotes from the Episode: [08:34] “Knowing that I started from zero, the only way is up.” [17:28] “A lot of people feel like they're stuck in their job or whatever they're doing and they have to do it. But there's a difference if you go from having to do something to you having the opportunity to do it.” [45:53] “Work on the internal part first because life outside is hard, but you have to take responsibility no matter what your circumstances are.” Resources Mentioned: https://www.amazon.com/Rich-Dad-Poor-Teach-Middle/dp/1612680194 (Rich Dad, Poor Dad) by Robert Kiyosaki https://www.amazon.com/Think-Grow-Rich-Landmark-Bestseller/dp/1585424331 (Think and Grow Rich) by Napoleon Hill https://www.kw.com/ (Keller Williams) Connect with Diego Corzo:https://www.linkedin.com/in/diegocorzo ( LinkedIn) |https://diegocorzo.com/ ( Website) Connect with Wyatt Graves:https://www.linkedin.com/in/wyattgraves/ ( LinkedIn) |https://wyattgraves.com/ ( Website) The Mentee Podcast:https://thementee.com/podcast/ ( Website) |https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-mentee-podcast/id957438503 ( Apple) |https://open.spotify.com/show/54f2lCwK07XLoMnu80Efj5 ( Spotify)
