Minneapolis funk pioneer, St. Paul Peterson (https://www.stpaulmusic.com/) announces that his new single, “You Got 2 Love,” will be released on January 4, 2019. “I’ve been so busy making records with fDeluxe and Eric Leeds, I realized that I hadn’t made music for myself for years!” stated Peterson. “This new song “You Got 2 Love” is an up-tempo song I wrote and produced with my nephew, Jason Peterson DeLaire. He and I were talking about a concept for this incredible track we had come up with, and we both wanted it to be something uplifting and something funky. Minneapolis Funk is ingrained in me, so I really didn’t have a choice but to tip my hat to the sound on this production. It just so happens that artists like Bruno Mars and producers like Mark Ronson are inspired by it as well. Thankfully, they’ve reintroduced fans to the funk, and this has totally inspired me to write a new record.” St. Paul is the youngest member of The Peterson Family; known as the First Family of Music in MN. Prince discovered Paul aka “St. Paul,” at the age of 17. He enlisted him as a keyboard player in “The Time” for the movie “Purple Rain.” Paul took the lead vocalist spot in the Prince produced group “The Family”, before becoming a solo artist and scoring hits for MCA and Atlantic Records. In 2018, St. Paul was the musical director and front man for “Nothing Compares 2 Prince,” which sold out 2 nights at the Sydney Opera House.

Use promo code LOVECITY to listen to the full series of Love City with Toure. This is a show that will explore the life story of our favorite cultural items and ask what are the things we love and why do we love them and who are the major influencers who led these things to cultural prominence. In episode one, we take a look at PRINCE. Why did everyone fall in love with Prince in 1984? Purple Rain was the #1 album and the #1 movie. Before that year Prince had never sold more than 2 million albums. In 1984 he sold 16 million. What made the difference? We’ll talk to a slew of his friends and bandmates—including his guitarist Dez Dickerson, his saxophonist Eric Leeds, his engineer Susan Rogers, and singer Susannah Melvoin, the first woman he got engaged to. She tells the story of how he proposed. Also, an amazing story about Prince, Elizabeth Taylor, and a courageous audio technician from Quincy, Massachusetts.
Enda sedan jag spelade Prince första gången i P3 1978, debutsingeln "Soft and Wet".
