True House Stories Podcast with special guests by Lenny Fontana
TRUE HOUSE STORIES W/ BOBBY & STEVE (GROOVE ODYSSEY) # 093 - PART 2 A visit to Larry Levan's world renowned Paradise Garage club in 1987, just three months before the club closed its doors forever, gave them their first taste of a new sound, later dubbed 'Garage' music, a sound which American jocks such as Levan, Frankie Knuckles and Tony Humphries were championing. Evolving from the more soulful and gospel parts of disco, US garage music, with its soaring vocals, intricate melodies and jazzy instrumentals, captured the ears of the twins. They had found their sound - dance music that still contained their beloved soulful influences. Klub Zoo was instrumental in planting the UK roots for what became more commonly referred to as ‘house music'. Inspired by what they had witnessed in NYC, Bobby & Steve wasted no time in launching their iconic new brand ‘Garage City'. Hailed as the UK's most established house night it was renowned for playing the best in soulful, funky and uplifting US garage, this side of the Atlantic. Joined regularly by the biggest names from the house spectrum such as Masters at Work, Kerri Chandler, Tony Humphries, Eric Morillo, Todd Terry and Danny Tenaglia, to name but a few. Telstar Records released various Garage City compilation albums mixed by Bobby & Steve and to mark its ten-year anniversary Defected Records released a ‘10 Years of Garage City' album also mixed by the duo. The iconic club Fabric in London hosted its 10th birthday party. Garage City also enjoyed successful seasons at Ibiza super club Es Paradis. The growing success of house music alongside their outstanding reputation as both DJ's and promoters placed them in high demand throughout the nineties. Bobby & Steve were regular guest DJ's at the biggest club nights across the globe. They founded their ‘Summervibes Dance Weekenders' which were a sell out each time and launched their own record labels producing their own tracks as well as for artists such as Leroy Burgess. They were in high demand on the remix side, reworking tracks for the likes of Faith Evans on behalf of P Diddy's Bad Boy Records. In 1997 they were nominated for a MOBO Award and in 2001 they travelled to Asia to DJ at the MTV Asia Music Awards party. The new millennium brought about a new chapter for Bobby & Steve and in that same year they launched their new night Soul Heaven at the Ministry of Sound as well as a weekly Ibiza residency at the illustrious El Divino. At the Ministry launch night, the twins joined by Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez played to over two thousand party people with a further one thousand queuing outside. The brand went from strength to strength with Defected Records releasing a ‘Soul Heaven' compilation mixed by the Bobby & Steve. In 2008 alongside their business partner Michael Hughes, the new powerhouse ‘Groove Odyssey' record label and club event was created. Ten years strong, the brand's label is churning out original releases and compilation albums to critical acclaim. The Groove Odyssey club night holds a residency at the Ministry of Sound with guests including David Morales, Louie Vega, Dimitri from Paris, Terry Hunter and Joey Negro with further dates being announced around the country and further afield. 2017 saw Groove Odyssey embark on a white isle adventure and their hugely successful GO Ibiza weekender, has been running for three years now and kicks off the island's summer season in May with the line-up for 2020 soon to be released. The five-day event hosts hundreds of clubbers from around the globe alongside an unrivalled line up of the biggest and best DJ's from the house music fraternity. In 2020 life takes a big change with the Covid Pandemic hitting all, in the early part before the lockdown began both Bobby and Steve contracted Covid. Listen to the story unfold how they both coped with the virus and how they are today.

Rob - aka Techn0yogi - starts off by talking to us about the time in his life when he was competing in body building. He talks about all the sacrifices and discipline required for it including the food he ate and how far he got with the competitions. After 12 years of being a certified PT and competing in body building, he started to question things about the way he was working out, training others and the way he was eating etc. He tried fasting, then tried to reduce the amount of meat he ate and eventually became vegan when he took his yoga teacher training. Around this time, he also changed the way he was working out and eventually started to live a more meaningful and intentional life with the yoga community. We then talk about his love for Techno music. He started going to Ultra Miami at a pretty young age and was considered a raver, even taking part in dance battles! Techn0yogi shares that his sister's boyfriend is the one who taught him the basics of DJing with proper turntables and vinyls when he was a teenager. He stopped playing for around 10 years but is now a resident DJ in Miami. And lastly, we talked about Kandi jewelry which is now a huge part of his personal style. Techn0yogi met a girl one day who gifted him a Kandi bracelet. They then went to a music festival in Canada together which was a Kandi festival so he started doing a few small pieces to take with him. After the festival, he totally fell in love with gifting pieces of artwork and started creating bigger pieces. He now gifts his artwork to DJs such as Paul Oakenfold, Diplo, Carnage and Eric Morillo. We also talked about gratitude and appreciation for life along with other topics. We had such a lovely conversation and we really hope you enjoy listening! This week features an artist spotlight from Italian music producer and DJ - Luigi Rocca. The self-made producer and global travelling DJ also runs 303Lovers alongside Manuel De La Mare and Federico Buratti. An international DJ in his own right Luigi has managed to forge a successful career circumnavigating the world performing at some of the planets most renowned and best-loved parties, where his unrivalled dexterity behind the CDJs has led to repeat bookings throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, North and South America. When the likes of Jamie Jones, Richie Hawtin, John Acquaviva, Dubfire, Tiësto, Bob Sinclar and the notoriously impenetrable territory of Chilean megastar Ricardo Villalobos have all supported your music, it is perhaps fair to say that your sound is something of a mystifying one to pigeonhole. In the case of Luigi Rocca that is exactly the problem many have had when attempting to label his myriad of releases from over the years. With a back catalogue that stretches well beyond 200 releases, Luigi (also known as Marshall) has managed to reach virtually every corner of the electronic musical spectrum that is humanly possible.Undeterred by his lifelong drive to fuse the elements of house and techno, Luigi has spent the past 10 years pushing his sound direct from his studio in Turin to dancefloors all around the world. It was this dedication, forged with a comparable high-spirited passion of Manuel De La Mare and Federico Buratti, which led to the formation of the trios chart topping imprint 303Lovers. An acting co-owner with Federico and Manuel, Luigi finds time not only to pursue his own musical drives but also expand those of both future and established talent through the ever growing reach of this recording imprint. 1. Nives Celarc, born and raised in Ljubljana (Slovenia). Her first club visit was at 13 in the legendary location "Club K4". With 15 she started mixing with friends Technics 1210 and discovered her enthusiasm for DJing. She was 8 years a part of the school choir, Theater and loved performing as a cheerleader where she learned a lot about Shows and discipline of movement. Few years later she met the famous producer and world known Dj ViperXXL aka Manuel Orf, and with a bag filled with most important things she left to Frankfurt am Main, where she spent many years as a manager of Artillery Bookings. The life was always about electronic music and so she traveled the globe at a very young age and met and observed many big DJs and producers with great talents. As the first Pioneer CDJs were released she bought 2 of them and was directly a fan of digital DJing. She always had a longing for House music and was following the happenings in the scene, listened to the releases and admired the great Eric Morillo and the wonderful Barbara Tucker. "The music touches me, the tracks, the vocals and the messages in all house genres, no matter whether deep house, classic house, Chicago house, disco house or afro house, there are artists who inspire me and where I can hardly wait to play their tracks and open my heart to the crowd. " You can hear and see NivesKa in Clubs and Bars in Germany. Since 2016 NivesKa regularly plays Livestreams on various Sites on Facebook and since 2017 runs her own radio broadcast "Dive Deep" at the Greek station "Rest Radio". As a teenager she used to go to all the raves in her country, and most of her friends were related to electronic music or events production and this started to awaken in her a huge interest in electronic music. It was not until 2008 when she had the opportunity to attend one of the concerts of the most prestigious DJs in the world at the time, DJ Tiesto with his release Elements of Life. In this event other renowned DJs were performing, such as Danny Howells, Sasha, Eric Morillo, Josh Wink, Infusion Zabiela, Barbara, Marco Carola, Frank Lorber, Tony Rivers and Tendroids, among others. When Tiesto went up to the stage, she will never forget she had a glass of champagne in her hand and something made her drop everything and walk to the stage. On front row she felt the most wonderful feeling she could never put into words and that day she promised herself that someday she would make people feel exactly the way she felt that day. It was the best experience of her life. As she got older she started working in the production of events and attended every one of the electronic music events in her country. For different reasons, her life lost focus and could not develop in this area before because she lived in a very executive work environment, but deep inside her there was this dream. She spent a year traveling and working in the United States and also always trying to attend all events of this genre. It was in 2013 where in Costa Rica, with the support of very dear people, she started her electronic music studies, leaning more towards Deep House and Minimal. She started playing with her friends in small city bars, the beach and also in friends’ parties until she decided to put wings to her dreams and go back to the States to endeavor into what she always wanted. In New York she started interacting with people in the world of electronic music like Trovar, DJFDEZ, MONKEY, LENNIN, among others, and interacting with people from the artistic world and slowly playing in private parties. She affirms that “In the near future I want to become an internationally renown DJ, I want to transmit experiences through my sets, make people enjoy it to the fullest and make them understand and believe that dreams do come true when you fight for them, and that for each “NO” that you receive in life you will always get 3 “YES” that will allow you to move forward”.

It's time to kick things into gear with the first EDM post of 2015. Party Favorz is back in the driver's seat and gearing up for what's bound to be an exciting year in dance music. The 2K15 Winter EDM Sessions starts off with the electro-power-pop hit "World" by Gia currently riding up the club charts. This is shaping up to be Gia's first number one on the charts likely propelled by a bucketload of remixes by Dave Aude, Funk Generation, Lenny B, StoneBridge, Eric Morillo, Mike Cruz, DJ Ranny, Dirty Pop and several more. This quickly leads to newcomer JimiJames "Drop Dat Bitch." The Dirty Pop remix hits hard on this WOW Jones produced track. Look for it to be lighting up floors at 1 am around the globe. We keep up the peak hour with Gwen Stefani's latest "Spark the Fire" and then begin descending into some AWESOME house, which bounces back and forth between current electro-p0p faves. Special attention should be given to two Terri B tracks. First is the current number one club hit in the country "Big Fun." This D.O.N.S. produced track was originally released in 2007 on Hed Kandi records but has been re-packaged with new mixes. Big Fun is a remake of the Inner City classic from 1989 and holds a very special place in my heart landing in my Top 10 all-time house favorites. It takes some big shoes to fill the space with a remake, but Terri delivers the goods. The second track featuring Terri's vocals and currently moving up the club charts (possible second #1 in a year?) is the Cazzette produced "Blind Heart." The original is a heavenly slice of deep house tracking a new direction for the Swedish duo. Terri's vocals add a soulfulness, which sets it way apart from the standard white-girl-with-a-thin-vocal-range currently berating the EDM scene. 2015 is shaping up to be a BIG year for this veteran chanteuse. 3LAU & Nom De Strip with Estelle doing vocal duties drop a remake of the 1995 Eurodance classic "Rhythm of the Night," simply titled "The Night." Over the years, there have been a plethora of remixes and covers of this song but these folks hit it out of the park! Finally, the UK's Ella Henderson single "Yours" closes out the set. She hasn't completely taken off in the states yet, but "Ghost" (original or remixed) was an excellent debut and Yours further solidifies her potential for mass stardom. Instead of attempting a big room electrifier, the Wideboys fallback on a more familiar housed-up remix and deliver some soothing ear-candy, while allowing Ella's vocals to shine. That's about all I got for your weekend. Hoping everyone's year has gotten off to a good start. Have a great weekend and as always ...ENJOY!

Born in Smithtown, NY, this 80s baby (who grew up in Brentwood) credits a close friend named John for helping to cut his teeth on turntables which under the influence of DJ Threat eventually led to a steady hand and a long list of local gigs starting with Shamrocks in St. James, Long Island. For awhile it appeared as though Eddie’s life would be centered around hip hop music, but this was not the case Eddie’s attention to detail was certainly honed during this period as he states that he began to pay close attention to Eric Morillo and Victor Calderon “I loved their rugged underground sound and wanted to make unique electronic music like [theirs].” i would see how the crowd would react to the tracks they were dropping and i was instantly addicted Eddie started DJ-ing at local Long Island gigs while still in attending college at SUNY Stony Brook. He was brought to Molaman Records by fellow label-mate Kid Ghost. Eddie’s talents quickly came in demand after he did some post-engineering edits and was asked to do remixes for several upcoming projects. Eddie’s first credit on the label will be his remix on the Kid Ghost debut single “Free Your Mind”. here's the tracklist: 1- Oliver Twizt - Love Trippin (original mix) 2- SHM and Tommy Trash - Save The World To The End(Zedd Mix) 3- Wolfgang Gartner vs. Nervo - There and back, We are One (Marcus Maison Bootlleg) 4- Abel Ramos - Crash The Disco (Original Mix) 5- Nause - Mellow (Original Mix) 6- Avicii - Levels (Original Mix) 7- Ivan Gough and FeenixPawl ft. "Add a little more bass and a little more treble to your life with Morocco's best house podcast" Contact: uaffairs@live.fr Website: http://www.mef.podomatic.com Soundcloud: http://www.soundcloud.com/omar-b Biography: REDROCHE (pronounced RED-ROCK) is comprised of production duo and brothers, Antoine and Gio. Antoine showed interest in music at a fairly young age. His parents pushed him early on to study the violin but there was something that always attracted Antoine to pursue the drums. At the age of thirteen his parents agreed to let him purchase a five piece Pearl drum set and begin lessons. Within six months this youngster was turning the heads of many large bands in the area by entering in many “battle of the bands” and showing up to local jam hotspot to show off his talent. After high-school Antoine went to University leaving behind the dream of becoming a drummer in a band to focus on a degree in business. While at university he discovered a love for house music with the release of Daft Punk's “Homework” and the ever popular “underground scene”. “This really changed my life and opened my eyes to a whole new world. The more I listened to this album, the more I got into it and a new appreciation for music was growing inside. I started exploring house music and the underground scene at the time and I was instantly hooked for life”. End of 2007, to the end of 2008 we see the demand for Redroche productions in full capacity. Completing some high profile remixes for such artists as ROBYN, LORRAINE, CARL KENNEDY vs M.Y.N.C. PROJECT, YOAV, ALANIS MORISETTE, KUSH, ADDICTIVE FT. T2, GABRIEL & DRESDEN, ERIC MORILLO, OLAV BASOSKI, DENNIS THE MENACE & BIG WORLD, DON DIABLO, EDX to name but a few out of the twenty or more remixes in one year's time is truly an amazing feet. To say that Redroche is in-demand at the moment would be an understatement. Finding time to release another single on the every popular JOIA records called “Family” and his current hit on Eyezcream Recordings called “Give You More” which is being championed by the likes of AXWELL, Eric Morillo, The D.O.N.S., EDX, Chris Lake and countless others. If you are going to bet on anything in 2009, bet that you will see Redroche finally break into the scene as an artist and a DJ. With a storm of more high profile remixes, DJ performances, more original material being created and working towards his first artist album means that 2009 is going to be an interesting year to say the least! Stay Tuned.
