“More Deep Thoughts,” the eighth studio album by Chicago rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Derrick Banks, arrived on March 21, 2025, through Alamo Records and Only The Family (OTF), cementing his reign as a drill music titan. Spanning 22 tracks and 63 minutes, this follow-up to 2022's “7220” and its 2023 deluxe, “Almost Healed,” dives deeper into Durk's duality—street-hardened grit meets vulnerable reflection—while showcasing his evolution as a melodic storyteller. Released amid a banner year for the 32-year-old, who saw his Smurkchella festival sell out Chicago's United Center in February 2025, the album reflects both personal triumph and lingering pain, underscored by his ongoing legal battles and the loss of peers like King Von.The album opens with “Turn Up a Notch,” a menacing banger produced by Brizzy on Da Beat and Noc, where Durk's Auto-Tuned flow snarls over eerie keys and thumping 808s, signaling his intent to dominate. Lead single “Monitoring Me,” dropped in October 2024, blends haunting piano with boasts of resilience, peaking at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and setting the tone for a project heavy on introspection. Collaborations shine bright: Drake trades verses on the syrupy “Discontinuing Wockhardt,” 21 Savage snarls through “Internet Trolls,” and Future's woozy croon elevates “Late Checkout.” Rising stars like GloRilla and Lil Baby add fire to “Oprah's Bank Account” and “Went Hollywood for a Year,” respectively, while a posthumous King Von feature on “Same Me” delivers a gut punch of nostalgia.Production, helmed by Durk's go-to crew—Touch of Trent, Chopsquad DJ, and Noc—leans into drill's signature sound but softens it with melodic flourishes, a nod to his crossover appeal. Tracks like “Newsroom” and “Stomach Growling” tackle betrayal and hunger, both literal and figurative, with Durk lamenting lost friends and fake love. X posts from @LilDurkDaily praised its emotional heft, with one fan noting, “Durk really poured his soul into this, you can hear the growth.” The album's centerpiece, “Old Days,” a February 2025 loosie turned fan favorite, mourns his pre-fame simplicity over a soulful sample, earning comparisons to “What Happened to Virgil” for its raw honesty.“More Deep Thoughts” isn't without flaws—its 22-track length drags at times, and some cuts like “Bad Guy” feel formulaic. Yet, its highs are undeniable. Thematically, it wrestles with Durk's O Block roots, his role as a father of seven, and the weight of surviving a war-torn scene, all while dodging a 2024 murder-for-hire charge tied to a 2022 L.A. shooting. Rolling Stone gave it 4 stars, calling it “a victory lap with scars,” while Pitchfork lauded its “cinematic scope.” Debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 185,000 units, it's his third chart-topper, proving his commercial clout. As of March 27, 2025, with Durk free on bond and teasing a deluxe via X, “More Deep Thoughts” stands as a testament to his staying power—a bruised, defiant diary of a drill king still fighting to heal.

This week on ‘Work Hates' we have a yarn with TikTok sensation, stand-up comedian and Steve Irwin impersonator, Blake Pavey. He became an online staple during COVID as a highschool student, and his comedic talents have grown from strength to strength. Blake's early success means he hasn't had many jobs, but the jobs he did have, he was pretty shit at. You dodged a bullet, Reject Shop! We asked him about nightmare gigs and he shared a corker that involved Wil Anderson and a crying man. Bliss. We loved this chat with Blake Pavey, and we know you will too! For this week's Bonus Episode, we're wandering wild places to explore the history and folklore of Trolls, which, though they sound pretty ancient, are a surprisingly modern folkloric creation! We start off chatting about the modern perception of Trolls, including the quite sinister online iteration we all know as the "Internet Troll" and the mass-produced toys, invented in the 1950s, now an animated film franchise more associated with pop music than pagan fiendishness. Then though, we wind back the clock, discussing how Trolls first appear on record, in scant scraps of Old Norse, and start to discover a problem: that Trolls were not 'one thing' but actually a whole class of kinds of things, the word used interchangeable with several others, with associations ranging from incest to kidnapping to the moving of mountains. Thankfully, as we track across time, we explain how and why Trolls came into clearer focus, particularly as a counterpoint to Christian Scandinavians. From the formation of nations such as Denmark, Norway and Sweden through to the Enlightenment era, during which Trolls almost become a kind a ghost, through to the 19th and 20th centuries, it emerges that Trolls have become a symbols capable of representing very different ideas over time. So, is a Troll the same thing as a werewolf? At some points, yes! How about a form of Giant? Absolutely, but not always. With answers to these questions and many others, including the links between Trolls and street walkers, their associations with barrow tombs, and the reasons why they're so scared of church bells, it's a stranger episode of the Three Ravens Bestiary than most.Nonetheless, we hope you really enjoy it, and as the spring sun starts to shine, know that you're safe from Troll-kind so long as you stay well out of dark and savage places...The Three Ravens is an English Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on one of England's 39 historic counties, exploring the history, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. Then, and most importantly, the pair take turns to tell a new version of an ancient story from that county - all before discussing what that tale might mean, where it might have come from, and the truths it reveals about England's hidden past...Bonus Episodes are released on Thursdays plus Local Legends episodes on Saturdays - interviews with acclaimed authors, folklorists, podcasters and historians with unique perspectives on that week's county. With a range of exclusive content on Patreon, too, including audio ghost tours, the Three Ravens Newsletter, and monthly Three Ravens Film Club episodes about folk horror films from across the decades, why not join us around the campfire and listen in?Learn more at www.threeravenspodcast.com, join our Patreon at www.patreon.com/threeravenspodcast, and find links to our social media channels here: https://linktr.ee/threeravenspodcast Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Trolls have basically taken possession of the U.S. government. How have trolls been able to go from being mostly cordoned off in dark parts of the internet to gaining so much influence in American culture and politics? Our guest this week has spent years researching and reporting on-the-ground to learn more about how the battle online between the right and the left has moved into the real world. Elle Reeve is a correspondent at CNN and the author of “Black Pill: How I Witnessed the Darkest Corners of the Internet Come to Life, Poison Society, and Capture American Politics.” She joins WITHpod to discuss the politics of “black pilled” and “red pilled” young men, the ways in which online extremism so often translates into political violence and more.

The world is on fire (literally and figuratively), but Sarah is showing how she can use her talents and skills to help those in need. We revel in the joy that is women's sports and wonder why some men are bothered by their existence. Sarah was trolled by a man online who criticized her snowboarding skills, and we hear what happened when she messaged him to try to change his mind about how he treats women. Sarah talks about a famous misogynist whose feelings about women might come from his own insecurities. We discuss the perils of being short in the dating world, but how men can overcome it with a little BDE. Sarah asks Susie to explain what water feels like, and we learn why that question is almost impossible to answer. We find out a shocking bit of animal trivia, but Susie questions the data. She also won't accept the number of trees there is on Earth, so maybe the problem is her inability to accept shocking information.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSponsors:Get an exclusive 20% off your first order at https://thrivecausemetics.com/BRAINCANDYFor a limited time get 40% off your first box PLUS get a free item in every box for life. On this episode of Guff Guff Pass we bring to you the most appeared guest so far Vinayak Tamang aka Dipsoman. The man needs no introduction to our viewers but to you newcomers Dipso is a prolific music curator, producer and certified party starter with his electronic and experimental tracks. Dipso walks us through the intense process of hosting an event as grand as grasslands and what the underlying challenges of such a huge festival can be. But then we move on to some lighter topics and by the end we were cackling with little to no air left within us. Enjoy the show and make sure to share the fun!

We talk to Pierson Willhite a person on social media who had a reel that blew up and went viral. In that reel he goes on a run trying to spread seeds and love and grow food for people throughout his town. Everything was great and the reel was trending until the foraging community decided to turn on him and turn him into a martyr. So naturally Clay and Luke wanted to have him on the show and hear his side of the story and get to know him as a person rather than jump on the bandwagon to trash and humiliate him.
