This episode explores Bridge of Spies (2015), the Cold War legal and political thriller directed by Steven Spielberg (and written by Matt Charman, Ethan Coen, and Joel Coen). The film is based on the true story of American attorney James Donovan, who is assigned to represent Soviet spy Rudolf Abel after Abel is arrested in New York and prosecuted for espionage. The story takes a turn when American pilot Francis Gary Powers is captured by the Russians after his plane is shot down over the Soviet Union while conducting a surveillance mission. Donovan is then tasked with negotiating a high-stakes prisoner exchange—Abel for Powers—that culminates in a climactic scene on the Glienicke Bridge connecting Potsdam with Soviet-controlled East Berlin. The film is not only highly entertaining; it also provides a window into important legal issues around national security, criminal, and immigration law that still resonate today. Lost & Found- Bridge of Spies - episode 77Steven Spielberg is possibly one of the most popular filmmakers in the world. He has helmed critically acclaimed films across genres and formats for more than 60 years. However, there are few films that have slipped through the cracks in terms of mainstream popularity, and one such film is the 2015 Cold War drama film,  Bridge of Spies. This carefully crafted film tells the story of a Soviet spy standing trial in the US in 1960 during the Cold War. Revered English actor and playwright Mark Rylance essays the role of the stoic and unassuming KGB spy, Rudolf Abel. Rylance's character is a far cry from the swashbuckling and flamboyant fictional spies such as James Bond, Jack Reacher, Jason Bourne, or Ethan Hunt. In fact, Rudolf Abel could be mistaken for a polite middle-aged man leading a private life in the US. However, when his cover is blown, he stands trial at the US Supreme Court for espionage. A lawyer named James Donovan, essayed by Hollywood legend Tom Hanks, is tasked with the responsibility of negotiating a deal with the Soviets to exchange Abel for an American pilot, whose plane was shot down inside the Soviet Union. The film is based on true events and was praised for its authentic depiction of the nuances surrounding foreign diplomacy, geopolitics, and espionage. The film's sublime editing and engrossing screenplay aided by the brilliance of Mark Rylance and Tom Hanks make it a compelling watch. You can watch this film on Sony Liv, or you could also subscribe to OTTplay Premium to get Sony Liv along with other regional and international OTT platforms for the price  of one. Well that's the OTTplay Lost and Found for today , until the next episode it's your host Nikhil signing out.Aaj kya dekhoge OTTplay se poochoWritten by Ryan Gomez

In the movie, Bridge of Spies, Tom Hanks played the American lawyer, James Donovan. Donovan was assigned to represent the Russian spy, Rudolph Abel, during the U-2 spy exchange in the 1960's. Abel was in real trouble for his role as a spy. And each time Donovan explained the possible consequences, Abel seemed unfazed by the news. This seemed odd to Donovan. So he would ask, "Aren't you worried?" And each time, Abel answered, "Would it help?' You and I know the answer. Worry never helps, yet in trying times, it's seems to be the appropriate response. But it doesn't help. But here's what does casting all your cares on him, for he cares for you.

General George Armstrong Custer. The name alone symbolizes the American frontier and has become synonymous with military disaster. In this podcast episode, historian and best-selling author James Donovan, joins host Russell Hillier to talk about his book “A Terrible Glory: Custer and the Little Big Horn,” and what happened on that fateful day in June 1876, when American forces were massacred by Sioux and Cheyenne warriors. Historical BackgroundGeneral George Armstrong Custer quickly rose through the ranks of the Civil War United States army. He led from the front and his men loved him. There was this thing called “Custer’s Luck,” because he always seemed to make the right snap-decisions on the battlefield and he never lost. This luck came to end on the banks of the Little Big Horn River in June 1876, when Custer and 210 of his men were massacred by Sioux and Cheyenne Warriors from Chief Sitting Bull’s tribe. There were no survivors and the “last stand” has been immortalized ever since. But was Custer a victim of his own success-driven ego, or was he stabbed in the back by subordinates who wanted to see the famed General humbled?

When the alarm went off forty thousand feet above the moon's surface, both astronauts looked down at the computer to see 1202 flashing on the readout. Neither of them knew what it meant, and time was running out...ON JULY 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the moon. One of the world's greatest technological achievements-and a triumph of American spirit and ingenuity-the Apollo 11 mission was a mammoth undertaking involving more than 410,000 men and women dedicated to winning the space race against the Soviets. Set amid the tensions of the Cold War and the upheavals of the sixties, and filled with first-person, behind-the-scenes details, Shoot for theMoon is a gripping account of the dangers, the challenges, and the sheer determination that defined not only Apollo 11, but also the Mercury and Gemini missions that came before it. From the shock of Sputnik and the heart-stopping final minutes of John Glenn's Mercury flight to the deadly whirligig of Gemini 8, the doomed Apollo 1 mission, and that perilous landing on the Sea of Tranquility-when the entire world held its breath while Armstrong and Aldrin battled computer alarms, low fuel, and other problems- James Donovan tells the whole story. Both sweeping and intimate, Shoot for the Moon is "a powerfully written and irresistible celebration" (Booklist, starred review) of one of humankind's most extraordinary feats of exploration. Well, this week’s episode of the Bench Time Podcast was ALL over the place. We talked a little bit about everything and there is a lot to cover in this week’s show. We started out with an off-topic discussion on the little known players in the NHL who actually wear the number 73, except for one player. But he’s on the Bruins so we don’t care. Next, Brett started talking about his weathering and rusting techniques from his recent car rust heaps that he made from plastic cheapy Life-Like vehicles. For more on these, you can check out his video tutorial on that over here: https://youtu.be/UiQ2FrAGR_8 You can also pick up the AK Interactive weathering and diorama materials that Brett used in these tutorials here (not affiliate links): AK Interactive Crusted Rust Deposits Set AK Interactive Corrosion Texture Then we ripped open some surprise 3D printed detail parts we received from a listener and fan of the show who has Dave’s Model Railway Stuff. These new 3D printed detail parts and kits are really coming a long way and we’re very excited to get to work with these and more like these in the future. Thank you, Dave, for the 3D parts, we’ll put them to good use and Brett really loves the porta-john! Todd also discussed a little bit about his recently finished Thames Street Shoppes which turned out absolutely magnificent and nobody is kidding when they say that he really knocked it out of the park (good job Dad)! You can grab Thames Street Shoppes Here! Next, we get into the differences between weathering and aging a structure. There is a big difference and we sometimes get into the habits of making our structures all look like they’re ready to crumble, but we need to be aware that in all decades of modeling that there were new buildings, actively maintained buildings, and even decrepit buildings. This aging vs. weathering conversation also turned into the same basic topic, but for our roads as well. We need to keep in mind that not every corner of our cities would be falling apart… Well depending on where you live! JOKING Lastly, we go over our favorite tools. Brett talked about the brush cleaner that he has now been using more of, which is actually making a big difference in the health of his brushes! Wow, imagine that! You can get your own brush cleaner here: The Masters Brush Cleaner & Preserver We don’t advise sniffing the brush cleaner though… Brett’s just weird. Todd also had a little rant about the non-use of rain gutters and spouting in our hobby! Let’s get on that people! Contest Information: Last week’s contest winner was: James Donovan! This week’s contest: Post a photo of your favorite rolling stock to the PINNED POST on our Facebook Page.
