Today, Commander Divine sits down with Melanie Sliwka, Certified Unbeatable Mind Coach, to discuss one of the most pressing issues of our time: mental health. This important episode covers a lot of ground, from the state of veterans' mental health to the best techniques to take our well-being into our own hands. Key Takeaways: Always remember to PBTA. Due to childhood trauma and other traumatic life events, most of us are operating in a constant hyper aroused state. (And for veterans, combat stress can exacerbate underlying trauma that already existed.) The acronym Pause, Breathe, Think and Act can be a literal life-saver to bring the body out of “fight or flight” and back into “rest and digest” mode. Who's your swim buddy? If you're having trouble managing your own internal dialogue and thinking processes, it's important to reach out to a positive person you can trust. Think about it right now: who is your go-to swim buddy when shit gets really bad? And how can you be someone else's swim buddy? Pharmaceutical drugs are a short-term solution. The rate of suicide among those who are taking SSRIs vs interventions through other nonpharmaceutical means is 2:1. While antidepressants can be great for short-term mental health interventions, it's important to include nonpharmaceutical interventions for long-term well-being. Get re-balanced with the basics. The big four practices for physiological rebalancing are: breath training, proper nutrition, exercise, and sleep. For 20 minutes every morning, try box breathing: inhale for five counts, hold your breath for five counts, exhale for five counts, and hold your exhaled breath for five counts. This is a completely free anti-stress medicine that you can do anytime, anywhere. Balancing the physiological system then leads to psychological space, which enables you to make better decisions across all areas of your life. The 3 best healing modalities for vets. Mark recommends electrostimulation (especially for TBI), EMDR therapy, and psychedelics. Electrostimulation works at the brain level, EMDR therapy works in the heart, and psychedelic assisted therapy works at the heart and the psycho-spiritual level. There's no one thing that works for every person. Everyone should try multiple things on their healing journey. The most important thing is for healing to be multi-dimensional.

And they tend to gravitate toward the things that we place the most importance on.”As a new parent, you navigate this gauntlet of stuff with the baby. What should you do? What should you not do? You tend to seek perfectionism in your parenting journey, but parenting is a learning process no matter how many kids you have.In this episode, Jeanette Cole joins us to explore parenting tips for new parents. Although people will give you advice, you are the only one who understands your child the best. ●Don't take it personally when a kid refuses your food despite how well you've made it. In today's world, it is necessary for leaders to have a good understanding of technology and how it affects business. They also need to be able to connect with people on a human level so that they can understand what they're trying to do for them. And finally, they need to have humility because they're not always the loudest or best at communicating their thoughts to everybody. Jon Tsourakis is a serial entrepreneur, seasoned leader, strategist, and expert in brand identity, business communications, buyer behavior, sales conversions, marketing systems, product/service design, and digital marketing. He created two companies that averaged 4X's ROI for businesses with branding and marketing models. In his industry, he has done it all to some extent: write, draw, code, design, but he shines most as a marketing strategist and sales developer. He has a unique ability to organize chaos, simplify the complex, and build a team to overcome obstacles and challenges. Jump right in and listen as Jon and Denis tackle the essential points in becoming more connected with the people and leading the company to success. In this episode: Jon discusses how he challenges people in his team to think about ways that they can do things better, and how this mentality is essential to being a successful leader.  Be wary of the dangers of staying stagnant and repeating old habits. Understand how dangerous it can be to rely on defaults rather than thinking about ways to improve. Jon shares how he worked for his father and was fired in front of a group of people. Successful leaders often have a good relationship with control, which allows them to be more efficient in achieving their goals. The new way of leading is based on understanding information and being selective. Employees today demand honesty more than ever and leaders must lead with their best foot forward and be authentic in order to keep employees happy. Key Takeaways: Always think about how to do things in a better way Beware of repeating old habits and staying stagnant Leadership can be learned and it comes naturally through trial and error Have processes in place to lead teams effectively Being emotionally triggered in today's world is not the way to go Honesty and authenticity are the demands of employees Being connected to people is important in order to make sound decisions Tweetable Quotes: “Always be on time to communicate when you're not going to be on time and make sure you always show up.” - Jon Tsourakis “It's more genuine being with somebody saying, hey, we're going to align what it is that you want with what it is that I want. Using video has always been a powerful tool for sharing compelling messages. Since the advent of camera phones, short-form social media apps like Tik Tok, and a global pandemic that kept people inside, it's gotten even more powerful. In the episode, we speak with Tyler Pyburn, co-founder of 5 Tool Productions, a video and content marketing company about what's most important in using video to craft compelling stories, what most folks get wrong, and how to get the most out of the content you create.  Episode Guest(s): Tyler Pyburn. Tyler Pyburn is a co-owner of 5 Tool Productions.  A team of creative storytellers that uses video to inspire, disrupt and create lasting impact for brands and organizations. He's a former sports anchor that traded in the news desk for the corporate world which brought him to the realization that brands have more untold stories than anyone. Tyler has BA in Television from Curry College. Key Takeaways: Always start with your end audience in mind. What is it that they want to hear and learn?  Focus on exciting, engaging, and educating them.  Unsure of how to create the content? Sit down and interview your subjects.  Keep it simple.  Always grab your audience right away. Competition for eyeballs is fierce.  Don't talk at them, talk to them, talk with them. Try to talk to them as if you were sitting across from them at a bar and simply explaining something that happens that day.  In 2020, the word was “pivot.” In 2021, it's “hybrid.” Create content for its primary purpose then find other places in your marketing efforts to put it to work too.  Video cannot make you thinner or more tan.  Useful Links: Tyler Pyburn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/tylerpyburn/ tyler@5toolproductions.com 5toolproductions.com      Samples:  Spaulding Rehab, Story of strength Spaulding Rehab, Coming back from Covid  Joe Andruzzi Foundation, The Weinstein Family Boston University 1839 Society

Key Takeaways Always follow ACAS's guidelines whenever organisations do not have their own set structures and rulebooks, when it comes to disciplinaries. Always make sure that all parties are aware of the disciplinary policies in place. Clarify any facts or assumptions up front. If necessary, talk to the lead investigator concerned, and gain clarity on their role, and the outcome being sought. When calling a hearing, give adequate and correct notice to all parties. Disclose all relevant information, and be clear on who is chairing the meeting, and who will be present. After the hearing, listen to the chair's views on the case and the verdict being proposed. Agree on notes, and on the letter being sent to the employee to advise on the outcome. Be clear on the appeal process. Episode 20: How you can start delegating 80% of your to-do list with only 50 dollarsHello and welcome to today's episode, my name is Genecia Alluora, I appreciate you today for being here. This is part two of how to delegate 80% of your to-do list and the question that I want to ask you is, why are you not delegating yet?You have the ability to delegate(01:38 - 01:51) So this is something that everyone keeps asking me, ‘Genecia, I'm a solopreneur, I can't delegate. Something that I want to address each and every one of you listening in right now.(01:52 - 02:37) Do you go to the spa? Do you do manicures and pedicures? Do you do massages? Do you go watch movies? Do you go to fancy restaurants and do very good meals every single week? If you said yes to any of the questions then you have the money to delegate. You have the ability to delegate. To hire someone, to give them something that you don't like to do, or you hate to do, or something that can help you to become more efficient in your workflow and processes in your business.(02:38 - 02:45) So 50 dollars is all you need to even get started, to hire someone into the business.(02:49 - 03:06) Whether it is part-time or on a freelance basis or even eventually moving them to a full time once you are more ready to do so. 50 dollars a week or 50 dollars a month is all you need to get started. How did I get started?(03:07 - 03:42) So how did I get started? Remember I talk about in 2013 I went from offline to online and hired people to bring in, I didn't start hiring 28 people at one shot. First, I hired part timers to come in to three, like two, three days a week to help me to do some admin work and then some to help me with my social media, and then I built up to full time and then I continued to hire more people to build the teams in a various categories, or what we called departments.(03:53 - 04:25) This episode I'm talking a lot about how you budget to really hire people even before finding the right people. I'm talking about how you first budget, right? So I said 50 dollars is all you need, like now, moving forward in Soul Rich Woman I have a team of 21 and some of these people are virtual, they are not based in the country I'm in, they are based in the Philippines, in Ireland, some of them are in India.(04:26 - 04:35) So we have different people on the team whom I'm working with around the world while growing Soul Rich Woman.(04:36 - 04:52) So the question is how did I even get started with 50 dollars? That's the question asked building up a team of twenty one. Well, first I identified what are the roles and positions I need, or skills that I need to help me to succeed. (04:53 - 05:21) So most of the things that I asked my team to do I have done personally as a solopreneur before. Just as you are, whether you are new, you are just starting out, you're a 9 to 5 employee, well, I was just once like you. I was a solopreneur, I did everything on my own and everything else possible and then I sat down and I decided that I want to free up my time.(05:22 - 05:40) I want more freedom, I want more time to myself, I want to function in my zone of genius. So I decided that for 50 dollars, my first 50 dollars, I'm gonna hire someone to do my social media. So that's how I got started.(06:00 - 06:17) First by deciding that that's the first that I want to do, because it's the first thing that I'm most familiar with in terms of the process, and how exactly I want it to be done. I just duplicate out, put it in the project management tool that I used called ASANA.(06:21 - 06:44) And then later on just bring the person in and then get training the person in my process, how it is to be done, how to report to me, so that I don't need to know the details, I just need to know what was done by reading the end of day report and hourly updates for example and then moving them to the timeline to work as a team eventually.Slowly work your budgeting upwards(07:22 - 07:31) So you must be able to break down in this manner and then slowly work your budgeting upwards as your team grows.(07:32 - 07:49) So always start from one, as it's the best way, and the safest way for you to get a hang of it, how to budget your outsourcing and delegating without overwhelming your own finances right at the beginning.(08:41 - 08:48) Always ask yourself this question, how does it feel to receive this kind of support? (08:54 - 09:15) So that you can function in your zone of genius, so that you can do more things with less? So that you can have more freedom and choices in your areas to shine instead of being stuck in your business and be like me, to be on top of your business.(09:21 - 09:42) This is for you, 50 dollars is all you need to get started because by just focusing on one thing first that's how you can leverage to do more with less with the art of delegating 80% of your to-do list to your assistant so that you can make money online.Key Takeaways: Always start with an end in mind. Focusing on one thing first that's how you can leverage to do more with less with the art of delegating. Budget your outsourcing and delegating without overwhelming your own finances. If you want more freedom then start delegating Hire someone to help you to become more efficient in your workflow and processes in your business. So this is something that everyone keeps asking me, "Genecia I'm a solopreneur, I can delegate" okay, something that I address each and every one of those listening in right now.Do you go for a spa? If you said “yes” to any of these questions then you have the money to delegate you have the ability to delegate to hire someone to give them something that you don't like to do or you hate to do or something that can help you to become more efficient in your workflow and processes in your business. So $50 is all you need to even get started. To hire someone into the business. Okay to hire someone into the business whether it's part-time, okay? or In a freelance basis or even eventually moving them to full time once you're more ready to do some $50 a week of $50 a month is all you need to get started. So, how do I get started? Remember I talked about in 2013, I went offline to online and hired people to bring in. I didn't start hiring twenty-eight people at one shot first, you know, I hired you know part-timers who come in, you know, two-three like two-three days a week to help me do some admin work and then some help me with my social media and then I built up to full time and then I continue to hired more people to build the teams in the various categories or what we call departments. So when you are hiring people in the previous episode, I talked about, you know, beginning of the end in mind. Okay, and this episode I'm talking a lot about how you budget to really hire people even before finding the right people I'm talking about. How do you on the first budget? Right? So I said fifty dollars is all you need but now moving forward in soul rich woman I have a team of twenty-one and some more these people are virtual, they are not based in a local, in the country, I'm in. They based are based in the Philippines, in Ireland, some of them are in India. So we have different people on the team whom I'm working with around the world while growing soul rich women. So the question is, how do I even get started with $50, right? That's the question asked building up to twenty-one a team of twenty-one. Well, first I identified what are the roles and positions I need or the skills I need to help me to succeed. So most of the things that I asked my team to do I have done it personally as a solopreneur before just as you are whether you are new, you're just starting out, your nine to five employees. Well, I was just once like you I was a solopreneur, I did everything on my own and everything else possible and then I sat down and then decided that I want to free up my time. I want more freedom. I want more time to myself. I want to function in my Zone of Genius. So I decided that $50, my first $50 dollars. I'm going to hire someone to do my social media. So that's how I got started because I've been doing managing my social media for many years and I have already found a way to get my content out there and I'm so much content really to be repurposed and posted across all my social media platforms. So that's how I got started, first by deciding that that's the first thing I want to do because this is the first thing that I'm most familiar with in terms of the process and how exactly I wanted to be done. I just duplicate out, put in the project management tool that I use called “asana”, A-S-A-N-A, and then later on just bring the present in and then get training the present in my process, how its to be done. how to report to me so that I don't need to know the details and just need to know what was done by reading the end of the report and hourly updates for example, and then moving them to the timeline to work as a team eventually. So I brought in one will take good care of my Facebook and it's not just all Facebook, she will only take care of my, for example, soul rich woman Facebook page and then soul rich woman Instagram account and then another person will be charged with my Genecia Alluora Instagram account and of course my page and then my other areas as well. I've got one who focuses on LinkedIn and then LinkedIn page and then LinkedIn profile. So you must be able to break down in this manner and then slowly work your budgeting upwards as your team grows. So always stop for one is the best way and the safest way for you to get the hang of it how to budget your Outsourcing and delegating without overwhelming your own finances right at the beginning. So I still post things myself even up to today. My personal profiles, my Instagram. I still post most of the things and post myself, but it's the back end, there are people who are doing the overall structure that I've already planned out and left block for the next one to two years. Literally, I had a blueprint to map out how I want to to continue to be consistent how to position as a Thought leader and influencer and business owner and leader in the online space and all these come with focusing on one thing and one thing only then expanding your repertoire by increasing the budget as you get more comfortable in, you know, getting more people to support you and always ask yourself this question, “how does it feel to receive this kind of support? How does it feel to receive this kind of support?”, this kind of support so that you can function in your zone of genius, so that you can do more thing with less, so that you can have more freedom and choices in your areas to shine instead of being stuck in your business and be like me, to be on top of your business. Whether you're a nine to five employee, you are just starting out, you're a newbie, this is for you. 50$ dollars is all you need to get started because by just focusing one thing first, that's how you can leverage to do more with less with the art of delegating 80% of your to-do-list to your assistant so that you can make money online. We spend a lot of time thinking about being champions on the field, but what about being champions in the home? How do we become championship fathers? How do we teach the boys in our athletic programs and under our roofs to be championship fathers when they grow up?  In this episode, author, mentor, and friend, Carey Casey tells us that being a championship father starts with being present for your kids. He reminds us that millions of boys and girls go to bed every night without a father in the house. You can't be a father to all of them, but you can be a championships father to the children in your life.  Key Takeaways: -Always be teachable and be around people who will take you further than you can take yourself. -Championship fathers listen to their kids and are present for their kids. -Encourage your athletes and children to deal with disappointment.   To learn more about our e-learning resources, please email Colton at colton@2words.tv or visit www.2words.tv /gameplan3.   Schedule a virtual locker room talk with Mackey by emailing Alyssa at alyssa@2words.tv!

Amanda Montgomery is a business lawyer who understands legal representation is not a one-size fits all endeavor. Passionate about empowering women, Amanda set her business' mission to help small businesses and entrepreneurs look out for their best interests. In this episode, Valerie and Amanda discuss all things women empowerment, toxic labels attached to feminism and how we need to stop being part of the problem and start working together toward the solution. Amanda reveals how a great mentor gave her the tools to question her own role in downplaying her success and how she embarked on the journey of entrepreneurship to support women-owned businesses in Texas.Through her Instagram account, Amanda provides women legal information that is attainable and relatable, teaching women how to look out for contracts that don't have their best interest in mind, and explains the steps that they can take to become empowered business owners and how to best protect their rights. Amanda believes that women need to start taking an active role in negotiating and requesting payments as "if something is in your contract, then there's nothing wrong with asking for an invoice payment".From legal advice and best practices, Valerie and Amanda also delved into gender equality, working women and the #MeToo movement.Key Takeaways:-Always have a healthy amount of distrust when looking at a contract.-Contracts are made to have the interests of the person who writes them in mind, not every party's interests.-If you need to, create a fake persona to take the more uncomfortable asks like send invoice reminders and ask for payments.-To be successful you don't have to 'grind all day'.-We have to examine our biases and the way we react to everything in order to shift our decision-making. -You have more power than you think you have as a business owner.-Before judging someone, give them the benefit of the doubt: they may not understand other realities because they were never exposed to it. -You can empower women without being a Radical Feminist and still make the world grow.Learn more about Amanda and her practice:https://www.amontgomerylaw.com/https://www.instagram.com/amontgomerylawyer/

IMPACT Agent Podcast

Section 8 properties and rental property investment are super hot topics in the real estate industry. Jason Will talks with two local real estate investment experts in the Mobile County market, Jared Irby (Irby Home Buyers) and Joey Brashears (Yellowhammer Homes) and they share their business journies and insights into this specific world of real estate investing. What is Section 8 rental investment? How can this investment be advantageous to owners and investors? Why is this government program model better than flipping? How do you get started? What to look for in an ideal Section 8 property? Sit back and hear how this type of investment works, how Jared and Joey maximize their opportunities, minimize their risks, and why you be looking into real estate. Key Takeaways > Always been looking for real estate opportunities, good investment properties and be able to act quickly. > Negotiating a low initial price and cash flow are the most significant factors in success in Section 8 investment properties. > Maintaining the property maintenance is a non-stop job and you need a process and plan to make sure that $50 issues don't become $10,000 problems. > Bigger homes with lots of bedrooms are an ideal property for Section 8 investment opportunities. > Have a sense of urgency in getting a tenant or replacing one, but make sure you get the best person for that property. - Jared Irby > The biggest thing in real estate is the relationships, whether it's the relationships with the tenants, the investors, your realtors, the landlords, everybody.   Resources   Jared Irby - Irby Home Buyers Joey Brashears - Yellowhammer Homes    Quotable Quotes    You've got to stay nimble, stay dynamic, and there's opportunities in every market. - Jared Irby You have to adapt your strategies to the market you're in. - Jared Irby My story has to start with the Fortune Builder Program. It worked for me. I think if it's anything else, it's something that's going to be what you make it. - Joey Brashears I'll tell you the coolest thing about real estate, if you're looking at it from kind of the financial nerd perspective and how you scale quickly, is that real estate has cash flow. It's a hard asset, and it's very easy to borrow against it. - Jared Irby So you can buy a Section 8 property for 20 grand and then rent it for 600, 700, 800 bucks a month. - Jared Irby The most important thing is that you make sure of the cash flows. - Joey Brashears Flipping houses, you put in a lot of work, and you make money one time. - Jared Irby What determines a rental for me is, anything that I look at under $100,000, I'm going to consider it for a rental. - Jared Irby I want it to be an assistance program, which is what Section 8 is set up to be. It's not supposed to be a handout. - Jared Irby For a landlord, Section 8 is a guaranteed rent from the government essentially, as long as you keep the house in the condition that's required to by the Section 8 Program, then you're basically guaranteed your cheque at the same time every month, deposited into your account. - Jared Irby I haven't noticed any more issues with Section 8 tenants, it's the normal issues and probably less, just because the payment issues are off the table. - Jared Irby So the longer Section 8 tenants stay in the house, the better your return. So all my Section 8 tenants. My average is like three, four years at their average. - Joey Brashears You want to make sure you keep the pay, and the rent is front and Center for sure. That's the whole point that drives everything. - Joey Brashears Section 8 a pretty rigid program. Once you go into it, it pretty much explains itself. The only thing you can do is just get better about your processes and the product. - Jared Irby   Agent 251 is an entertaining and informative real estate podcast that looks at our industry through the lens of our work, adventures, and culture at JWRE - Jason Will Real Estate in Mobile and Baldwin County, Alabama.     ////////////////////////////////// We would like to know what you think about the Agent 251 podcast, especially this episode. Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance  Lack of planning can put you in a bad place - how do you avoid this? It is important to have the tools in your toolbox, but you actually have to use them, and they need to be ready when you need them. This week on the Catalyst Sale Podcast we discuss checklists, thinking through scenarios, and planning. Thanks for listening, and for sharing with a colleague. Questions Discussed What's the worst that can happen? How is anticipation a part of preparation? How can a SMILE save your day? Key Takeaways Always look left before going through intersections It is not enough to be prepared, you have to execute. It is one thing to have the tools, have the checklist. It is another thing to make sure you are ready to use them when it counts. The fundamentals are critical Asking effective questions is a good step.  One you should consider is "What's the worst that can happen?" Always have an out, always have a backup plan. Leverage concepts like the "Crush Workshop" to anticipate competitive threats and better understand your competition. You can use anticipation to prepare for the questions that you may be asked.  (i.e. what's the most challenging question they/audience can ask?) You will never be prepared for every situation, but by putting these concepts into practice, you can minimize your risk. Routines are very important. The patterns we repeat set expectations for our customers.  Jody shares a story where this had a direct impact on a park ranger.
