“She never forgot that she had a daughter out there somewhere.” – Lisa Wright, Black Adoptee Despite being born in the 60's when closed adoptions were the norm, Lisa Wright's progressive mother opted to be open and transparent with her daughter about her adoption status. Her goal was that her child would not feel disconnected, angry, or abandoned. While Lisa was able to detect distinct differences between, she and her family, she also was astutely aware the family doesn't always mean DNA was involved. The fact that her mother had adopted and also fostered children, #TheBlackFamily constellation looked a lot different, but had the same love as any blood-related family. Lisa was so secure within her family; she rejected the notion of engaging in a search and reunion process. When asked by her mother if she would ever look, Lisa's response was, “I don't need to find my mom. Last time I checked, you were still here.” These words held true until one fateful request to take a 23andMe DNA Test came from Lisa's son, Nicholas. Who knew that Nicholas's desire for a tribal tattoo would create a pathway to locating biological family in such a beautiful and unexpected way? In this story, a mother and daughter are reunited after 50 years. And GUESS WHO HER MAMA IS? If you want to know, you'll need to listen in to this VERY SPECIAL episode where we hear for the first time, the perspectives of not only the Black Adoptee (Lisa), but her first known blood relative – her son, Nicholas. Lynne Moody was 18 when she gave birth to her daughter and put her up for adoption. More than 50 years later, Lisa Wright connected with her biological mother and discovered a surprise about her as well.
In this podcast, Lisa Wright chats to Bex Tasker and Karin Stillberg. This is our first for Mount Murray Farm, we talk about sheep, alpacas, chickens, dogs and horses. With the philosophy of Reward Based Training in mind, I also wanted to share this one with all of the Canine Ed Family as well. My big take away with our conversation in this podcast is to do what is manageable. We often can't make the experiences of our animals purely positive but we can aim for the least invasive, minimally aversive scenarios. We talk about putting work into the 'Trust Bank'.Bex Tasker lives on a small farm in Western Bay of Plenty, New Zealand with her animals and young family, and travel around my beautiful country and overseas to deliver clinics and lessons to horses and their passionate and dedicated humans. As well as the "real life" teaching, she has a thriving online membership community, and runs regular coaching intensives with students from all over the world. In early 2019 Bex partnered with her good friend and experienced youth worker Brooke Friend to establish a successful youth programme, focused around ethical horse training, life skills and mental health. Bex first learned about science-based animal training in 2001 and quickly became obsessed with learning everything she could about the science and the art of training and behaviour, and particularly the use of positive reinforcement (clicker training) with dogs and horses. Bex feels fortunate enough to learn in person from some of the world's best positive reinforcement trainers, including the incredible Dr Suan Friedman, Ken Ramirez, Dr Bob Bailey, Kay Laurence, Shawn Karrasch, Mary Concannon, Steve White and Peta Clarke. Bex also reads extensively and continuously on the topic, both published books as well as various online groups and sites. It's been almost 20 years now and the learning never stops!Karin Stillberg moved to New Zealand with her partner from Sweden, it is here her love and work with sheep has grown. Since 1989, Patient Services Incorporated has restored hope and health to rare disease patients. We truly admire the many perspectives we come across in our line of work. This inspired our new podcast, Rare Perspectives, where we go beyond the diagnosis, and explore the heart of the experience! On this episode, we welcome our dear friend Lisa Wright back to the Rare Perspectives podcast to share her story. At the age of 49, Lisa’s lifelong mystery had finally been solved. It was just 10 months earlier that her twin sister was diagnosed with the very same rare disease. And although the discovery has brought closure to so many unanswered questions, it has also led to a thousand more. We hope you enjoy our conversation. Please share with your family, friends and network. We also invite you to write a review. National governments across the world are adopting a range of measures to deal with the economic distress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of these measures seek the tightening of foreign direct investment (FDI) regimes to prevent a sell-off of strategic businesses to foreign investors. In this podcast, Lisa Wright, a partner in our competition group, examines the EU's existing FDI framework and the European Commission's recent guidance to EU Member States on deploying FDI screening to protect critical businesses, as discussed in our client briefing on 27 March 2020. She also discusses the new FDI measures adopted by certain jurisdictions, both within and outside the EU, and the use of existing FDI screening regimes by those that have not (yet) introduced new measures to respond to the crisis.

Lisa Wright is the author of "The Age of Outrage: Strategies for Parents and Educators" and currently serves as a Texas public high school counselor whose career in education began almost three decades ago and includes twenty years as a middle school/junior high and high school teacher. Lisa has observed the changes in students and the educational system brought about by the advent of technology and cell phones, by school district mandates designed to help kids, and by evolving parenting styles, all of which were well-intentioned but have at times resulted in unintended negative consequences. Lisa has witnessed the evolution of schools and the educational system as school shootings have happened again and again. Lisa’s experience over three decades of a changing educational landscape and her research bring a unique perspective to her discussion of modern student and school issues. She addresses those issues head-on while including ways both parents and educators can help their kids/students. Lisa promotes open discussion so that educators and parents can unite to work together to make our schools and our world safer places and our kids more resilient future adults. Lisa is married to a high school band director; she loves her beagles and cat; and, she plays competitive volleyball... A LOT. Hey little humans, I’m Norma Jean and welcome to Stay Wild! This is episode 11 with today’s guest, Lisa Wright. Lisa is a clothing designer who founded a conscious clothing line here in Bali called “Warriors of the Divine” which is sold around the world. She makes handmade clothing inspired by an ancient Indonesian craft. The highlight of her wonderful collection is the Angel Wing Kimonos. For her, this is not just a label. It brings a powerful purpose – encouraging other women to express their selves as Divine. “The label became about me encouraging other women to talk about these connections and divine experiences that we have.” On this episode, she talks about the inspiration behind the Angel Wing Kimonos. She tells the story of how Angel Gabriel gave him all the signs to pursue this business. She came to Bali with $1000 debt, a single mother, and relied on miracles. Listen in and find out about her miraculous story! “I believe in angels and I rely on miracles, and not care about what anybody else thinks.” Lisa also talks about her yoga journey and how this stirred her to name the clothing line from “Lisa’s Closet” to “Warriors of the Divine”. During the episode, she touches on fair trading and the realities of working environment. She also asks a powerful question: What are we dressed for? “There’s enough in what I’m doing – that it’s making a positive impact.” Join us in this conversation of fashion, self-expression, and divinity. Sponsor: Ewetopia is a local yarn shop in rural Viroqua, WI, carrying a beautiful selection of yarns and fibers, including their very own line of hand dyed yarns. One of my favorite things about Ewetopia is it’s generational foundation, the shop was started by Kathryn Ashley-Wright and later her mother Lisa Wright joined her as partner in the business. Along with Kathryn’s grandmother Gloria and her daughters Stella and Mae…you’ll sometimes find all four generations busy around the shop…what a special thing to have. In addition to the Ewetopia shop and yarn brand, Kathryn and her family have a farm in southwestern Wisconsin where they grow certified organic hay and rotationally graze their flock of 50 ewes…comprised of Corriedale, Border Leicester and Merino crosses, which contribute to their Ewetopia yarn and fiber line. If you’re in the Viroqua area or just passing through, make sure to visit them in person. You can find a selection of Ewetopia yarns and fibers, and more info on the shop and farm online at ewetopiafibershop.com. And find them on Instagram @ewetopiayarn.
