And that's usually what happens between spiritually, relatively conscious adults and their teenage kids who are busy getting into stuff and getting through their stuff world. And what you have to do is use that as an exercise to work on yourself to get to the point where your mind is such where you can do what needs to be done to keep that act together, to keep the kid from blowing themselves apart if you can, and at the same moment keep spacious.” – Ram DassSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

For his 30th birthday, Levi James' partner Karley wanted to blow his mind with the perfect present, something intangible to encourage his spiritual growth. Knowing how big of a fan Levi is of both Love Is The Author and Jaymee's former podcast Mystical/Cynical, Karley blindly reached out to Lacee months ago from their home near Calgary, Canada to see if she could schedule two future in-person mentorship sessions with Jaymee, and surprise Levi with an unforgettable trip to Ojai. What Levi received this week upon his arrival was far more psychedelic and unexpected: a full immersion into the podcast itself! Jaymee created an interactive podcast experience for Levi's birthday, touring sites featured on the show including John Dennis' vintage shop (Episode 22), a special visit with Raghu Markus at the Love Serve Remember kirtan space, a meditation at dusk with the Love Is The Author sangha in Ojai, finally ending up on the set of Mystical/Cynical Season 2 (Jaymee and Lacee's couch) as today's guest. As if this episode weren't bursting enough, the show takes an unexpected turn when Levi shares the moving story of how he found this show, including the craziest Ayahusaca story you've ever heard, guaranteed. This episode chronicles the hard earned spiritual unfoldment of the great saint, author and editor Parvati Markus, who's first acid trip (Golden Sunshine/Owlsey acid) in 1969 led her directly to a first encounter with a freshly anointed Ram Dass, beaming with light at his fathers farm. Parvati became Ram Dass's personal secretary for two years, helping him edit his spiritual classic Be Here Now while saving up money to eventually travel to India with her heart set solely on meeting Neem Karoli Baba, who she believed to be the source of Ram Dass's inner light. After an arduous journey traveling through India for the first time in 1971, she contracted hepatitis while traveling, she eventually made it to darshan with Maharaj-ji, and reads her journal notes from her first encounter with him. Parvati is a Love Serve Remember rebel, who for 7 months lived with Maharaj-ji alongside her early cronies Ram Dass, Krishna Das, Mirabai Bush, Rameshwar Das and a young Raghu Markus - who Parvati spontaneously married at the behest of Maharaj-ji on this trip, presiding himself over the ceremony. Parvati then had the incredible honor of becoming Maharaj-ji's "private secretary", where she experienced countless first hand account miracles and a lifetime's worth of wisdom and grace, which she emanates. Parvati is the author of Whisper In The Heart, and Love Everyone, both books inspired by the wisdom and presence of Neem Karoli Baba, and has been a contributing editor for 50 years of a range of Love Serve Remember authors. Parvati is an inspirational woman who exhibited impeccable devotion, respect and selfless service throughout her spiritual journey, and shares stories generously and in great detail throughout this episode. Parvati Markus's new book, "Whisper in the Heart" documents lively accounts from around the world of Neem Karoli Baba (a.k.a. Maharajji), a great Indian saint, appearing in visions and dreams to offer spiritual comfort and guidance. Parvati has edited and has been published by Hay House, Inner Traditions, Simon & Schuster, Contemporary/McGraw Hill, Lotus Press, and others. She has helped with spiritual organizations (as past President of the Board of the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram and Hanuman Temple in Taos, NM) and events (as a development consultant for the Global Peace Initiative of Women). She is on the Board of Advisors for the Love Serve Remember Foundation. Parvati has an M.A. in Creative Writing from The McGregor School of Antioch University. She is also the co-author, with Radha Baum, of "Isabella Castaspella: The Happy Little Witch and Her Friends."Whisper in the Heart recounts the stories of over 150 people and the ways in which they “met” Maharajji, as he is fondly known. It could have been while chanting at a kirtan, while at a spiritual retreat or in a temple, while looking at a photo or reading a book, or as in some of the more extraordinary stories, when he shows up on a desperate woman's doorstep in France, brings years of abuse to an end for a nine-year-old child in Australia, dances on a beach in Miami, or appears to a policeman in Taos, New Mexico. Raghu Markus is the Executive Director of the Love Serve Remember Foundation, co-founder of the Be Here Now Network, host of Ram Dass: Here and Now as well as his own Mindrolling podcast. He is a devotee and direct disciple of Neem Karoli Baba (Maharaji), whom Raghu lived with in India for 18 solid months alongside Ram Dass and Krishna Das in the early 1970's. Raghu is the chief storyteller within the Love Serve Remember satsang, and spends most of his time joyfully recounting deep and meaningful stories about his friend and mentor Ram Dass, so Jaymee took time to ask about Raghu's early life in Montreal for a change. Raghu shared what it was like having his first transcendent experience as a teenager in a jazz club watching John Coltrane play "My Favorite Things" right in front of him, how he and his friends used to sneak off to watch films that were banned by his teachers, and how his early psychedelic experimentation led straight to his first job as a program director of CKGM-FM in Montreal, where he would fatefully encounter Ram Dass as if it were all intricately designed. This episode is full of first hand accounts of what it was like to be in the direct care and company of Neem Karoli Baba, a miracle being who the majority of humans have only experienced through Ram Dass's many lectures, his service work, and his smile... all of which Raghu confirms was Maharaji pouring through his dedicated student. You'll also hear the story of the time Ram Dass felt like an imposter, and the extraordinary pep talk Maharaji gave him on the spot, as well as the time Maharaji taught Raghu, a nice jewish boy from Canada, how to "meditate like Christ". Recorded in the kirtan hall of Love Serve Remember headquarters, a legitimate "Grace-land" that caused Jaymee to feel like he was on acid, prepare for this unforgettable "Raghu after dark" themed episode! Jon "Vasu" Seskevich has been a trailblazing nurse clinician and primary disciple of Ram Dass's for 50 years. After two years of obsessively reading and re-reading Be Here Now in the early 70's while hitchhiking and practicing kundalini yoga, Jon endured a difficult LSD experience and took a shot in the dark writing Ram Dass a letter to ask his advice in processing the bad trip. Much to Jon's surprise, not only did Ram Dass write him back, but his return letter set in motion a lifelong teacher/student relationship between the two that directly led to Jon creating his own revolutionary career and curriculum in compassionate nursing care at Duke University between 1990-2019. Jon is a breathtakingly genuine and humble sweetheart of a man, a record keeper of the highest order, so in love with the world and earnestly devoted to cultivating path of the expansive Heart. For the Love Serve Remember heads and hardcores, this episode is an absolute gold mine - chalked full of mind-blowing first hand accounts of Ram Dass sewing the seeds of Love in the West, as well as the full circle experience Jon had being Ram Dass's nurse on one of his last pilgrimages to India in 2004. My friend Jon "Vasu" Seskevich recorded this podcast on the day before he was to undergo heart surgery, which I have released in the early morning hours of his surgery (August 16, 2022) as living prayer for him and his extraordinary passion for alleviating the suffering of beings. As you listen, know that Jon is open to healing thoughts and energy being directed his way. The world certainly has much still to benefit from this true saint, who is deep undercover agent for the divine. In the final moments of this episode performs a round of a rare English translation of the Hanuman Chalisa on his harmonium. This episode is brought to you by Athletic Greens and Rupa Health.Psychedelics have gotten a bad rap. Often associated with the small period of time they became popular in the 1960s, they were researched in clinical, cultural, and spiritual contexts for many decades prior to that. Now we are seeing an uptick in the interest of drugs like this, which include compounds like psilocybin from certain species of mushrooms, for therapeutic uses. Trials are finding amazing effects on anxiety, depression, PTSD, and fear of death by using psychedelics in a responsible and highly controlled environment. In today's episode, I talk with Dr. Anthony Bossis, Michael Pollan, and Rameshwar Das about the neurobiology of psychedelics, how they can help to shift mindset, and the story of Ram Dass. Anthony P. Bossis, PhD, conducts FDA-approved clinical trials in the reemerging field of psychedelic research. He is a clinical psychologist and clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine, where he investigates the effects of psilocybin, a naturally occurring compound found in specific species of mushrooms. Michael Pollan is the author of the New York Times bestsellers Cooked, Food Rules, In Defense of Food, The Omnivore's Dilemma, The Botany of Desire, How to Change Your Mind, and This Is Your Mind on Plants. Rameshwar Das has been navigating a spiritual path for 50 years. Ramesh met Ram Dass in 1968 and spent time with Neem Karoli Baba in India from 1970–72. He learned Vipassana meditation from Goenka in India. Ramesh has worked as an artist, photographer, environmentalist, and writer. He has collaborated on many projects with Ram Dass over the years, including the original Be Here Now and the Love Serve Remember recordings, and he has coauthored three books with Ram Dass: Be Love Now, Polishing the Mirror, and Being Ram Dass. Sitaram says, "I spent several years serving my beloved teacher Ram Dass on Maui. It was during this time that I committed myself to the practice of kirtan and the path of Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of service and devotion to God. I also received the rare chance to be in close proximity to a man who truly lives from the heart. Whether he was lecturing on stage, at the dinner table with friends or alone in his room, Ram Dass rested in and acted from a place of love. I believe that this is the most important thing anyone can learn- to live from the heart, to act from the heart, to sing from the heart. This is Ram Dass’s main teaching, and it continues the teachings of his guru, the great saint Neem Karoli Baba, who said “Love everyone, serve everyone and remember God.” I try to make these three words, love, serve and remember as the foundation of everything I do. I can’t think of any better map to navigate life with."https://sitaramdass.com New Music from East Forest! -"Possible" - the latest album from East Forest - LISTEN ON YOUR FAVORITE STREAMING PLATFORM: Spotify / ApplePre-order the album on vinyl - limited edition - and check out the new Possible clothing: http://eastforest.org *** Support this free podcast by joining the East Forest COUNCIL on Patreon. Becoming Nobody: The Key To Freedom And Happiness | This episode is brought to you by Paleovalley, Joovv, and Athletic GreensOur higher and lower-self are always around, but who are we listening to most of the time? Who is having the conversation in our heads? Taking a deeper look at my level of awareness led me to study Buddhism in college and though I changed course to pursue a career in medicine, spiritual growth has always remained a passion for me. I think as humans we need a mass recognition that we are all one; we need to see that inside we’re all the same. Learning from others is a key part of the journey to greater awareness and there are so many teachers I’ve found throughout my life that have helped me do that. Today’s guest on The Doctor’s Farmacy is one of them. Rameshwar Das has been navigating a spiritual path for 50 years. Ramesh met Ram Dass in 1968 and spent time with Neem Karoli Baba in India from 1970-72. He learned Vipassana meditation from Goenka in India. This week, I'm excited to welcome Ryland Engelhart. He is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Kiss the Ground. He is also a co-creator of the award-winning, transformational documentary film, “May I Be Frank.” He is an entrepreneur and activist, and works to inspire more "gratitude" into our culture. He speaks on sacred commerce, tools for building community, and regeneration and is the host of Kiss the Ground's "We Can Do This Podcast." Questions asked during our conversation: How do you define regenerative vs degenerative agriculture? Is it too late to be considering sustainability? How important are animals in the soil health conversation? https://180nutrition.com.au/ This week, I'm excited to welcome Ryland Engelhart. Ryland is an entrepreneur, a restaurateur and social activist who co-owns the super popular plant-based restaurants Cafe Gratitude and Gracias Madre. He's also co-founder of Kiss the Ground, a nonprofit increasing social awareness and educating millions of people about the extraordinary benefits of healthy soil. In this episode, we discuss the fundamentals of regenerative agriculture and discover what we can all do at a community level to cultivate global regeneration. Over to Ryland. Hey guys, this is Stu from 180 Nutrition, and I am delighted to welcome Ryland Engelhart to the podcast, Ryland, how are you? Ryland 00:01:50 I'm feeling great. Thank you so much. It's been great to get to know you a little bit before we jumped in here. And yeah, grateful to share love and information. That was kind of my mom's declaration of what there was to do in life, was to share love and information. And so it's always a delight to be invited to speak on a podcast, to share with new audience about what I've learned over my life that could potentially be helpful for others. Stu 00:02:23 That is awesome. Well, that is what we are super excited about diving into today. But first up, for all of our listeners that might not be familiar with you or your work, I would love it if you could just tell us a little bit about yourself and your background, please. Ryland 00:02:35 Okay, beautiful. So professionally over the last 15 years, I've been working within a family business, a restaurant business on the West Coast of the United States called Love Serve Remember. It is a management company that oversees two different restaurant chains. One is called Gracias Madre, which is organic plant-based Mexican food. And one is called Cafe Gratitude, which I know many Australians who have come and visited California have come to Cafe Gratitude. You guys have been a big international group that has been big fans of Cafe Gratitude. And really, yeah, we've been a family of, I would say, entrepreneurs really driving health and wellness and plant-based lifestyle. 15 years ago when we started the Cafe Gratitude, there was no such thing in the general lexicon of understanding of what cold brewed coffee was. No one was eating kale. Quinoa was not pronounceable. And almond milk, there wasn't almond milk on the shelf. It was just a completely different time. And we had the amazing opportunity of understanding as a family. We had been vegetarian for most of our lives and really got into healthy, organic food, and wanted to provide that for people through our restaurants. But I would say the bigger mission of our restaurant company was about spreading the consciousness of gratitude and really, how do we create a public domain, a business, a commercial venture, where we invite people in to that space, and we not only nourish them with healthy food, but we actually also curate healthy or meaningful or purposeful or grateful conversations. And so really, the food was the kind of carrot to get people in the door, but really we were more after having people be centered in a grateful place. What we saw was when you're grateful, you are more present and you're also more loving and kind. When you're full of great, you're not trying to get stuff from the world. You're not trying to be a consumer, more and more and more for me, me, me, because you're in gratefulness. You're in the spirit of gratitude. So that was a a long intro, but yeah, the Cafe Gratitude's been around for 15 years. We have restaurants in the Bay Area on San Diego and in Los Angeles. So that's kind of been my professional world for the last 15 years. And then I ventured out about seven years ago actually to start my own nonprofit called Kiss the Ground, which is kind of my current passion and focus. And really, that's focused on education advocacy for healthy soil and regenerative agriculture as the basis of a healthy civilization. And that if we really trace back a lot of the problems that humanity faces, it comes back to a destruction of the ecology that serves all of life coming from that earth, and that if we could get our relationship to soil, right and if we could heal our soils, we could actually heal a lot of our human health challenges. We could heal a lot of our ecological degradation. The big kind of aha moment was, oh my God, there's actually a solution to how we can reverse and bring the carbon out of the atmosphere that's causing climate change. We can actually draw enough carbon down into the soil, such that it actually provides something of value in soil so it makes a problem into a solution when that carbon comes out of the air into the soil, and that everyone who eats could be potentially catalyzing that movement. So I started a nonprofit called Kiss the Ground to really advocate and educate around regenerative agriculture so that we could scale that up to what the new norm in agriculture. Because looking long and hard at the future of humanity on planet earth, I didn't really see how the current sustainability framework or model could actually make a difference. It just seemed like kind of ideas that were less harmful that made us feel good in the now moment, but really weren't actually going to make the difference that makes the difference, and that we were just going to slowly drive off a cliff. Now I have a son who's two, and so it makes me even more passionate about how we can heal and regenerate this beautiful, precious one of a kind planet in the universe. It wasn’t planned this way, but I’m grateful to be able to release so many of my interviews from Attune Experience 2019 during this chaotic and stressful time. Not only are these fun conversations a nice distraction but their emphasis on spiritual transformation and inspiration is a message the world needs right now. And if you want to see what Attune is doing in 2020, head over to attuneexperience.com to learn more. Today’s high-vibe guest is probably going to be familiar to anyone from the LA or Bay areas: Ryland Engelhart, the co-owner of Café Gratitude and the Mission Fulfillment Officer of Love Serve Remember. The original Café Gratitude was a manifestation of a visionary concept — that food, gratitude, and love are the recipes for cultivating community and a reverence for the living world. One restaurant grew into seven throughout the Bay Area, and in 2011, Ryland and his brother brought Café Gratitude to Los Angeles. All of the restaurants are amazing, by the way, and serve 100% plant-based organic cuisine. Ryland’s life purpose is to be an expression of love in action — and you really do feel this when you eat at any of their locations — but now he’s trying to express that love on an even grander scale. Empowered with new research on regenerative agriculture's power to heal our planet, Ryland co-founded Kiss the Ground, an education and advocacy NGO working to transform our food system based in Venice, California. We talk all about why we need to change our worldwide farming practices VERY SOON, the transformative potential of regenerative farming, and what Kiss the Ground is doing to teach people more about the regenerative model. You’re going to have trouble not expressing some gratitude for our wonderful planet after this episode is over. 11:00 — The origins of Café Gratitude Ryland’s dad’s divorce The role of Landmark Forum The original raw food gaming parlor Inviting people into a new view of life The biggest difference between Café Gratitude and most restaurants (hint: it’s not the plant-based food) 22:18 — The “Clearing” process What’s your biggest concern in life right now? BECOMING NOBODY represents the core arc of Ram Dass’ teachings and life: whether as Dr. Richard Alpert, the eminent Harvard psychologist, or as Ram Dass who serves as a bridge between Eastern and Western philosophies, he has defined a generation of inner explorers and seekers of truth and wisdom. Through his turns as scion of an eminent Jewish family from Boston, rock-star Harvard psychologist, counter-culture rascally adventurer, Eastern holy man, stroke survivor and compassionate caregiver, Ram Dass has worn many hats on his journey, the narrative of which is revealed in this film. His ability to entertain and his sense of humor are abundantly evident in a conversation that brings us around to address the vast question of ultimate freedom. In BECOMING NOBODY, historic clips balance an engaging conversation with director Jamie Catto. We come to understand how our old roles and disguises become increasingly burdensome. The film captures a loving man full of joy, wit, honesty and wisdom, at ease in conversation while sharing his considerable pains and pleasures. The life experiences that have freed him from the attachments of his ‘somebody-ness’ have transformed him into the radiant soul who now inspires a new generation. Producer Raghu Markus joins us to talk about the life and times of Ram Dass, his transformation from Richard Alpert and what it means to love, serve, remember. About the Producer - Raghu Markus: Raghu Markus spent two years in India with Maharaj-ji and Ram Dass. He has been involved in music and transformational media since the early 1970s when he was program director of CKGM-FM in Montreal. In 1974 he collaborated with Ram Dass on the box set Love Serve Remember. In 1990, he launched Triloka Records and Karuna Music in Los Angeles, California. Triloka established itself as a critical leader in the development of world music and for 17 years was home to such artists as Krishna Das, Hugh Masekela, Walela, and Jai Uttal. He produced transformational media projects that featured Ram Dass, Deepak Chopra and Les Nubians. He is the executive Director of the Love Serve Remember Foundation. In 2016, he co-founded the Be Here Now Podcast Network and hosts Here & Now with Ram Dass as well as his own Mindrolling podcast. American singer-songwriter Laura Bird is a shape-shifter who can't sit still. Since 2010 she's worked under the moniker The Mynabirds, releasing four critically acclaimed and stylistically different albums on Saddle Creek: What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood (2010) and GENERALS (2012), both produced by Richard Swift, Lovers Know (2015), and BE HERE NOW (2017). She has also toured as a member of the Postal Service (2013) and Bright Eyes (2011), helped found Omaha Girls Rock (a non-profit helping young girls find their voices), and in 2013 gave a TED talk based on her "New Revolutionists" portrait project, exploring what it means to be a revolutionary woman in this day and age. Before The Mynabirds, Laura was a member of DC indie band Georgie James with Q And Not U's John Davis, and also put out two self-produced solo albums on the label she founded herself, Laboratory Records. The Mynabirds' newest album, BE HERE NOW, is a collection of 9 songs written and recorded in just 2 weeks in January 2017 following the Inauguration and the Women's March. Singer Laura Burhenn worked with producer Patrick Damphier in his Nashville studio (which he was being evicted as the neighborhood began to gentrify, old warehouses turning to tech offices and luxury condos) to document the news and peoples’ intense emotional responses to it all in real time. No stranger to politics in her songwriting, Laura aimed to speak from the voice of the collective consciousness in a work of "Emotional Journalism," singing the heartbreak, anger, exhaustion and resolute hope she witnessed during the Muslim travel ban, the final stand at Standing Rock, and every other news story that rattled America in that period. The album vacillates in style and feel to reflect a frayed nation, featuring the legendary McCrary Sisters on title track “Be Here Now,” a Burundian refugee choir on a song for immigrants, and a cacophony of dissonant saxophones in a new national anthem on another. It is the last recording made in that space. http://www.themynabirds.com eastforest.org/podcast

Layering traditional kirtan with instantly accessible melodies and modern instrumentation, Krishna Das has been called yoga’s “rock star.” With a remarkably soulful voice that touches the deepest chord in even the most casual listener, Krishna Das ” known to friends, family, and fans as simply KD ” has taken the call-and-response chanting out of yoga centers and into concert halls, becoming a worldwide icon and the best-selling western chant artist of all time. His album ‘Live Ananda’ (released January 2012) was nominated for a Grammy in the Best New Age album category. KD spent the late ’60’s traveling across the country as a student of Ram Dass, and in August 1970, he finally made the journey to India, which led him to Ram Dass’ own beloved guru, Neem Karoli Baba, known to most as Maharaj-ji. Given the name Krishna Das, KD began to chant as part of following the path of Bhakti yoga, the yoga of devotion. After two and a half years with Maharaj-ji, returned to USA – alas, six months after his return, word came that Maharaj-ji had died. He took solace in music, finding peace and strength in both his Bhakti yoga practice as well as in such heroes as Ray Charles, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, and Bruce Springsteen (whom he laughingly calls “the Bodhisattva of New Jersey”). KD also co-founded Triloka Records, a California-based label specializing in world music, releasing such artists as Jai Uttal, sarod virtuoso Ali Akbar Khan, and legendary jazz musician/composer Jackie McLean. In 1994, KD started leading chant at Jivamukti Yoga Center, NYC, with an ever-growing audience of yoga students that has led him to chant with people all around the world. In February 2013, Krishna Das performed at the Grammy awards in Los Angeles, CA streamed online to millions of viewers. The award-winning film ‘One Track Heart: The Story of Krishna Das’ has been in over 100 US cities, over 10 countries worldwide and is available on DVD everywhere. With the release of his 16th album Peace Of My Heart , October 2018 – KD on behalf of the Kirtan Wallah Foundation offers nearly two hours of deeply moving, meditative and artfully restrained new recordings born out of a request from a yoga teacher who works with children on the Autism Spectrum. Forgoing the ecstatic tempo changes so common to temple-style kirtan, these 5 new tracks move slowly and deliberately. The song to song steadiness is both striking and soothing, and as emotionally impactful as ever. “The chanting just hits you and you want to be a part of it,” KD promises. “That’s the point of this whole thing. That’s what cuts through all the ‘stuff’. You get lit up. You don’t have to know what it means.” krishnadas.com eastforest.org
Indian American musician Sheela Bringi has been exploring the connections between her ancestral and actual homelands her entire life. The singer and instrumentalist plays the harp, harmonium and bansuri (Indian classical bamboo flute). As a young woman Bringi was influenced by M.I.A. and Dead Can Dance, studied with Cecil Taylor and Meredith Monk, while at the same time deepened her studies with Indian classical masters like Pandit G.S. Sachdev and Ustaad Aashish Khan. This unique background has resulted in her debut album, Incantations (Black Swan Sounds), rooted in India’s classical music tradition and the beauty of its mantras, as well as a groundbreaking exploration of American jazz and blues. The album was released in 2014 and garnered praise from National Public Radio, the Guardian, Public Radio International and more, and debuted at #9 on the iTunes World Music chart. She has performed in a wide range of venues, including concert halls and universities presenting traditional material, yoga studios leading kirtans and in dance clubs overtop throbbing, bass-heavy beats (she’s toured with Karsh Kale, DJ Drez, and many others). In 2016 she was an instrumental soloist on Madi Das’ GRAMMY-nominated album, Bhakti Without Borders. shebrings.com eastforest.org
Raised on an island in South Carolina, singer/songwriter Trevor Hall realized at a young age that music was more than just a passion - it was, rather, his life’s art. At sixteen, he recorded his first album, soon after which he left South Carolina for Idyllwild Arts Academy in California where he studied classical guitar and was introduced to the practices of yoga and meditation, which would greatly influence his life and his music. Hall’s music, a blend of roots and folk music, is imbued with a deep love of Eastern Mysticism. This powerful symbiosis fostered a deep connectivity with his growing fan base and Trevor quickly matured into a leader of the burgeoning conscious musical community. Along with numerous pilgrimages to India, he has also completed a series of sold-out tours and collaborations with artists such as Steel Pulse, Ziggy Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Matisyahu, Michael Franti, Xavier Rudd and Nahko & Medicine for the People. His full-length album releases, The Fruitful Darkness (2018), Chapter of the Forest (2014) and KALA (2015), debuted at #3 and #2 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart respectively and were supported by extensive tours around the US and Australia. Beyond his intention to spread love and healing through music, Hall also collects donations to support children’s education in India and has continuously donated to charities and relief funds. The Fruitful Darkness is Trevor’s first independent release — supported by his fans known as THE VILLAGERS — has become the #1 Music campaign of its kind in 2017 — after a decade plus recording for established labels such as Geffen and Vanguard. “There have been many hurdles and triumphs along the way” Hall reflects. “This album conveys the deep vulnerability of journeying through the unknown, as opposed to playing it safe.” Besides the change in infrastructure, the album itself explores completely new sonic terrain and is being released unconventionally, in 3-5 song installments on specific lunar dates. The full length album premiered at #4 on the Alt Charts, the most successful of Hall's career yet. trevorhallmusic.com eastforest.org

In 1974, in the wake of the Nixon Watergate hearings, Ram Dass produced a box set of LP's called Love Serve Remember. Included in the set were excerpts from a radio show he did that consisted of Q&A from audience members. It's amazing how relevant Ram Dass' answers to these questions are to our own very challenging contemporary times.
