Haustið 2023 var ljóðskáldið Mosab Abu Toha tekinn höndum þegar hann reyndi að flýja Gaza og PEN samtökin og fleiri kölluðu eftir upplýsingum um afdrif hans. Þá var liðið ár frá því að Abu Toha gaf út sína fyrstu ljóðabók, Things You May Find Hidden in My Ear, sem farið hefur sigurför um heiminn. Móheiður Hlíf Geirmundsdóttir, skáld og bóksali, þýddi bókina á íslensku og lítur við í hljóðstofu. Gauti Kristmannsson, bókmenntarýnir, grípur í sígilda bókmennt eftir Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha sem segja má að hafi orðið til þess að mörg ungmenni hippakynslóðarinnar lögðu leið sína til Indlands. Þá grípum við niður í fyrsta þætti Kristlínar Dísar Ingilínardóttir, Var afa mínum slaufað, þar sem Ármann Jakobsson prófessor í íslenskum bókmenntum leggur orð í belg, og rifjum upp innslag um huldutónlistarmanninn G. Weller.

After losing his home, along with countless friends and family, Palestinian poet Mosab Abu Toha escaped Gaza with his wife and three children. Now in exile, the award-winning writer is on a mission to share the stories of those left behind. He speaks to FRANCE 24's Culture Editor, Eve Jackson, about documenting the situation through social media, publications like The New Yorker and The New York Times, and his poetry. Abu Toha is presenting his latest work, Forest of Noise, at Paris' Maison de la poésie as part of his tour. The collection, written since the October 7th attacks and the ongoing war in Gaza, explores the personal and collective impact of the conflict. His debut collection, Things You May Find Hidden in My Ear (2022), won multiple awards for its portrayal of life in Gaza.

Shaun Bythell. Things You May Find Hidden in My Ear e. Mosab Abu Toha Og svo talaði hún um bækurnar Mémoire d'une Jeune Fille Rangée / Mémoirs of a Dutiful Daughter og La Femme Rompue / A Woman Destroyed e. Simone de Beauvoir Tónlist í þættinum: Komdu í kvöld / Ragnar Bjarnason (Jón Sigurðsson) Allar mínar götur / Ragnar Bjarnason (Haraldur Reynisson) Barn / Ragnar Bjarnason (Ragnar Bjarnason, ljóð Steinn Steinarr) UMSJÓN GUÐRÚN GUNNARSDÓTTIR OG GUNNAR HANSSON

This time, we read stuff NOT for TBC, listened to music, watched TV and movies, and played video games! After a failed guest episode, we had to fill the schedule so we decided to do another recap of the non-TBC books, music, and video games we've enjoyed so far this year like we did at the end of last year. If this is your first time listening to this show, maybe choose another episode because today we're talking about our personal media consumption so far in 2024, so you'll (mostly) hear about things we actually liked for once. Musings and derailments in this episode include: our love for the Hendrick's seasonal collection and the Polar Summer Seasonal 2024 flavor line-up; can sexy clowns enter into the Clown Registry? the best and only use for AI; heavy metal doctors; sneaking Andrew Tate into trad metal playlists on YouTube; and Skibidi Toilet Trees. *Local primaries and the general election are both coming up fast! Joe Badon is back to talk about the profound/silly Altered States (1980). After some delay, Episode 4 arrives to your door step, fresh as a daisy. This time, we are joined by the current queen of DnB vocals, Collette Warren. Fresh off the hugely successful "Hidden Lines" EP on DJ Marky's Innerground Records, Collette tells us about being mentored by MC Tali, being a woman in drum-n-bass, her influences, her future, and a lot more. As experimentation with ways to record these conversations continues, this episode became a bit of a salvage operation with the original file, hence the worst sound issues we've had thus far. But, it all worked out in the end. This episode is sponsored by DnB Refined (www.freshpapercut.com/dnbrefined) and Dutty Bass Audio (www.junodownload.com/labels/Dutty+Bass+Audio). Meet Craig, he joined me remotely from Pittsburgh for this episode. He's extremely sarcastic and doesn't care if you're in on the joke or not. He has a degree in Psychology but his brain has been jumping all over the place long before that. He always has a curious perspective on life and we've been having the exact conversations I want to have when I was creating the idea for this show. We get into the video game industry, ADD, and a plethora of other topics with a wealth of philosophical discussion. Around the 13-minute mark, we discuss Luke Perry's death. If you're interested in the shows or movies that he starred in, check out his IMDB. During that conversation, Craig inaccurately states the Tom Brokaw has passed away. He hasn't, we're sorry Tom. Around the 43-minute mark, Craig mentions that department stores and marketing in the 80's was focused on splitting stores into boys and girls based on the colors blue and pink and that move led to video game consoles being placed in the boys section. I couldn't find this specific post, but this article covers the topic somewhat. Around the 52-minute mark, we discussed Electronic Arts "loot boxes" and how they have been legislated against in some places. That place is Belgium, here's some more info about that. Around 1 hour, 30 minutes into the episode, Craig brings up Facebook selling your data and wanted some clarity around the truth of that. Here's an article discussing some details about Facebook and your data. At the end of the episode, we discuss Music to My Ear, a high-end audio equipment company in Pittsburgh that Craig used to work for, along with the audio forum, Head-Fi, which Craig posts on regularly.

In episode #46 of our Six Weeks to Fitness Podcast, I will be joined by the lovely and talented actress, Carlease Burke. During the interview, Carlease will discuss her recent 40 pound weight loss and the “Aha” moment in her acting career that made her change her eating habits and improve her health. Carlease will also take us on her personal journey growing up in Hollis, Queens, N.Y. to two loving, middleclass parents whose desire for her was to go to school and become a teacher. To please her parents, Carlease attended City College of NY and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Pre-Law. Carlease, realizing from her birth that what she really wanted to do was act, decided to follow her passion, moved out to LA and began what is now a very lucrative, rewarding and fulfilling career as an actress of stage, film and television. Carlease has over 100 acting credits to her name having worked with some of the biggest stars in Hollywood, such as John Travolta in “Get Shorty”, Tom Hanks in “The Terminal”, Jennifer Lopez in “The Back-up Plan”, William H. Macy in Shameless, and Marlee Matlin in Sweet Nothings in My Ear, to name a few. My guest this episode is , host and creator of the fantastic podcast . He's such a fascinating comic that it took most of the show for me to get to the fact that he’s a Fantasy Baseball dork. Fantasy Baseball seems to be that you get a list of players and you WATCH their stats for the season. Fascinating! You will note how much I like Jimmy because I won’t let him talk. I beginning to see it as a symptom of something. I sound like I still have some sort of head infection, don’t I? Boo. I had an ear infection and it’s moved to my sinuses (as my acupuncturist said - English not her first language – though MUCH better than my Cantonese, “behind your face is one piece of meat.” i.e. the infection has spread). My Ear, Nose and Throat doctor tested my hearing and I’ve lost 30% in my right ear. But he doesn’t know what to do about it. His recommendation? That I send a video to SNL to audition for them. i.e. I need a new ENT guy. Topics covered: Morning Radio: , (Austin, TX), , (Detroit), , Musicals: , , , Television and Movies: , – MUSIC! …of a sort. The video for Hot Mess feels very 1983. – Jimmy: not political, but does have an opinion.(Website proves our point). Jon Krakauer - , . (Pardo’s friend and great comic) – writer, comic, married to Jimmy. – Yeah… I have to have him back on to talk about this!! – my joke animated by Greg Franklin – full disclosure: Andy designed some of the levels of this game! – baseball dork, actor and really funny comic. Jimmy’s website and links to his schedule and merch at the top of the page I like that we think we’re done at 59min and then… we go for another 9 minutes… Because I like Jimmy Pardo. I hope you do too. Credits: Audio leveling by Patrick Brady and the Songs are by . My Website was redone by : with is an offshoot of it and they both have players and links to his good work. My show schedules, videos of my stand up and the donation button are all there as well. Thanks for the orders and the donations this week and, as always, thanks for listening. Take care out there!
