New Life Fellowship Church Sermons Podcast

The story of Ruth closes with Boaz redeeming Naomis property, marrying Ruth, and the Lord enabling Ruth to conceive and give birth to a son named Obed, who became the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David. The generations that followed were part of the grander story of the Lords plan of salvation for all humanity. This sermon on Ruth 4:1-22 was preached by Pastor Philip Thomas at New Life Fellowship Church, Concord, NC, on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Ruth 1:1-7, 20-22 1 In the days when the judges ruled, there was a famine in the land. So a man from Bethlehem in Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab. 2 The mans name was Elimelek, his wifes name was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to Moab and lived there. 3 Now Elimelek, Naomis husband, died, and she was left with her two sons. 4 They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After they had lived there about ten years, 5 both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband.Naomi and Ruth Return to Bethlehem 6 When Naomi heard in Moab that the Lord had come to the aid of his people by providing food for them, she and her daughters-in-law prepared to return home from there. 7 With her two daughters-in-law she left the place where she had been living and set out on the road that would take them back to the land of Judah. 20 Dont call me Naomi, she told them. Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter. 21 I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The Lord has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me. 22 So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabite, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning.

May the Lord show you kindness, as you have shown kindness to your dead husbands and to me. 9 May the Lord grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband. Then she kissed them goodbye and they wept aloud 10 and said to her, We will go back with you to your people. 11 But Naomi said, Return home, my daughters. Why would you come with me? Am I going to have any more sons, who could become your husbands? 12 Return home, my daughters; I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was still hope for meeven if I had a husband tonight and then gave birth to sons 13 would you wait until they grew up? Would you remain unmarried for them? No, my daughters. It is more bitter for me than for you, because the Lords hand has turned against me! 14 At this they wept aloud again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung to her. 15 Look, said Naomi, your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her. 16 But Ruth replied, Dont urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me. 18 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.

How would you feel if you experienced a crisis in which the very people you were trying to help turn against you? Naomi and her team endured attacks from a few, prominent, left-wing Guardian commentators. As a result, they went through a process of grief, anger, and sadness. But looking back, she believes a more empathetic approach matching their logical analysis would have been more persuasive. Listen to the nuances of how Naomis longest day has prepared her for facing a future of increasing polarisation in Britain.

While playing ‘Jewish geography' highlights the ways Canadian Jews are connected, thinking about the geography of Jews reveals some of the community's most important divisions. In recent weeks, suburban Jews have trekked down to city centres for rallies and marches—not far from the working-class immigrant neighbourhoods where their forbears settled in Canada. This week on Bonjour Chai, co-host Phoebe Maltz Bovy and CJN managing editor Marc Weisblott analyze how the urban-suburban divide continues to shape Jewish life in their respective native cities of New York and Toronto. After that, they discuss Canadian activist and writer Naomi Klein's most recent book, Doppelganger, which examines the ways Klein's life has become strangely intertwined with that of Naomi Wolf, whose politics could not be more different. Credits Bonjour Chai is hosted by Avi Finegold and Phoebe Maltz Bovy. Zachary Kauffman is the producer and editor. Michael Fraiman is the executive producer. Our theme music is by Socalled. Naomi ist u.a.

EPISODE NOTES FOR THE NAOMI BROWN INTERVIEW WHY VICTIMS CAN'T HEAL WHEN THEY STAY IN THE PLACE THAT KEEPS THEM SICK On today’s show I have the lovely Naomi Brown, a survivor, turned thriver from Endinburgh, Scotland. Naomi has turned her pain from breaking free from a history of abuse into her purpose, as she now works as a transformative coach and a business consultant.  She is doing a remarkable job on her healing and recovery journey and now hosts her own Facebook Live - Warrior Wednesdays. In every interview I ask the guest what the title Tiaras Tears and Triumphs means to them, and every answer has it's own take on this question. Naomis is a wonderful perception of what this means for her, she is a true warrior in every sense of the word. When she answered this question about the podcast title, part of what she said was that when she was young, she felt like a princess waiting to be rescued by a knight in shining armour. Now she is a woman she feels that she has reached the understanding that if she needs rescuing, she needs to come to her own aid and not wait around to be rescued by someone else. She realises that she holds the power, she needs to change her life and her destiny.  I absolutely loved this conversation and apologise for some glitches with the sound.  Wherever you are on your journey, none of what is contained in this message is to here to make you feel bad about yourself, there are no judgments. This podcast aims to remind you of how precious you are and that you deserve to feel safe, secure, and loved in a relationship. Remember that every day is a new day and a new opportunity to move in the direction of your dreams. Every day is a clean slate to start fresh. So, hang in there and keep striving to regain your personal power. For anyone interested in getting some coaching support or energetic healing to help heal your life and get your life back on track, please contact me. I work online via zoom face to face calls, which allows you the flexibility to work with me wherever you happen to be located and wherever you are comfortable to have private confidential conversations. If you would love to get unstuck and know deep down you will achieve far more by getting the support of a transformational coach, I would love to help you get your life back on the right track. If you want to fast track your journey to triumph over your trials, click this link  Here are the top tips of today’s episode:  Life is a not a linear journey, there will be ups and downs and twists and turns along the way You cannot heal in the place that keeps you sick, you may reach a plateau, but the toxic person will keep holding you back from healing. Your plan of escape from the cycle of abuse needs to be suited to you and not anyone else Take your power from your purpose. The purpose you have to have a good life, to be treated with respect and dignity can be the power which helps give you the strength and determination to get through your challenges. Recovery is a process, it might be hard right now, but one day it gets easier and easier. You just need to be yourself in life, not something someone else tells you they think you need to be. When your trust has been broken it is good to remember to treat everyone by their own merit. Not everyone is a good egg or a bad egg. Recovery can truly be found when we grasp that life is not happening to us, but it is happening for us. Listen to your gut, especially when our gut has been feeling uneasy for awhile. You may be have listening to your heart and ignoring that uneasy feeling in your gut. This is the time to speak to someone who works in domestic abuse and get some advice. Needing support with mental health is a very normal and often necessary part of the healing journey for victims. It is important to engage fully in our healing journey, to go to the sources of pain and allow the emotions out, as well as focusing on being positive. You may be triggered by things that other people may do, It is good to understand and acknowledge when you are triggered and know that this is part of your healing journey.   If you would like to contact Naomi Brown please use the links below. Sunday Morning Podcast | The Moody Church

Sometimes doing the right thing is the last thing we want to do. Anyone can do the right thing when there’s no pressure. But doing the right thing when the pressure’s on, that takes character.   In this passage, we find four bold moves of obedience that change the trajectory of potentially tragic circumstances for Boaz, Ruth, and Naomis towards goodness. We see these characters do the right thing even when it's tough. Ruth does the right thing in asking Boaz for marriage, even when it raised the stakes of being rejected. Boaz does the right thing in honoring Ruth as a daughter, even when temptation was so readily available. They both do the right thing in honoring this next-of-kin, even when it threatened their hope and happiness. All three do the right thing in waiting on God, even when being still and surrendered is hard.   Ruth 3:8-18
