Arizona State University is under investigation by the NCAA for potential recruiting violations over the last year. While it's always great to see a rival Pac-12 program under scrutiny, Ian is critical of the NCAA's restrictive policies in regards to recruits. Why are so many in Seattle so attached to Kevin Durant? Yes, he's been a longtime supporter of bringing basketball back to Seattle, but Ian still isn't feeling as much love for the former Sonic. Daniel Robertson didn't seem too concerned about the foreign substance situation in baseball, but how about a former Major League pitcher. We bring on Eric O'Flaherty to get his perspective. Highlights from last night in the NHL on the Power Play. On Something Good, the Philadelphia Flyers' Oskar Lindblom wins the Masterton Trophy after beating cancer.

You may have heard the term endometriosis in the last few years but do you know what it is? I surely didn't nor the extent of how it can affect women around their periods or most of their cycle! Today I speak to Orla O'Flahery. Orla is an herbalist and natrupath based in Galway and she herself suffers from endometriosis. We talk about her own story and diagnosis and how she was put on the pill to treat the condition, however it only masks it, so when she came off it at 23 all her symptoms came back. This led her down the path of natural medicine to where she is today, helping numerous women with all kinds of hormonal conditions get back in balance! We also speak about the stigma around periods and how its time for us to be more comfortable with the term, as it is something that so many people have for a good portion of their lives! She also has a lil rant about the pill, and how we need to know what we are signing up for when being perscribed it, but also not saying anyone should go off it! Disclaimer always seek a professionals advice when looking into herbal medicine as there can be other affects with each herb you are taking and Orla is fully trained and gives only personalised tonics to her clients! New Books at SOF/Heyman: a podcast featuring audio from events at Columbia University, and interviews with the speakers and authors. Shadows of Doubt reveals how deeply stereotypes distort our interactions, shape crime, and deform the criminal justice system. If you’re a robber, how do you choose your victims? As a police officer, how afraid are you of the young man you’re about to arrest? As a judge, do you think the suspect in front of you will show up in court if released from pretrial detention? As a juror, does the defendant seem guilty to you? Your answers may depend on the stereotypes you hold, and the stereotypes you believe others hold. In this provocative, pioneering book, economists Brendan O’Flaherty and Rajiv Sethi explore how stereotypes can shape the ways crimes unfold and how they contaminate the justice system through far more insidious, pervasive, and surprising paths than we have previously imagined.

It is a June evening, and the sniper, who has had nothing to eat since morning, hungrily wolfs down a sandwich and takes a short drink from the flask of whiskey he carries in his pocket. Natalya O'Flaherty is a spoken word artist. She has performed at the GPO, RTE Culture Night (at the request of Laureate na nÓg Sarah Crossan) Electric Picnic, Red Bull's Free Gaff, First Fortnight Festival and Glasdrum, on the Late Late, at All Together now, Body and Soul and the list gos on.... Her poetry cannot be described, only experienced, so if you can give her a search on YouTube and watch one of her Late Late performances before or after this podcast. But Natalya is also a young woman trying to find her place amidst this success. Natalya's poetry come from a very real place, performing at All Together Now I watched as she spoke about her cousin, she captivated the audience in a very palpable way and as we left myself and my friends took a huge deep breath... the type of deep breath where you have felt something from art so deeply you can't just move onwards and go about your day. This Podcast is absolutely fantastic.. and I have no problem saying that because it's all Natalya. This was the most cathartic podcast I've recorded. I cannot wait to watch Natalya continue to explore her spoken word. I really hope you enjoy this podcast. The Depop shop of the week this week is my good friend @fionashort. She offered her home as a safe house, helping Monsignor Hugh O'Flaherty as part of the Rome Escape Line, while her children met  POWs and escorted them safely around the city and out of danger from the Nazis. In this episode Greg chats with David Sands about his grandmother, Henrietta and his mother Gemma Sands about their incredible bravery at this perilous time. We also talk about the deep scars that this time left with the family, including his father Kenneth Sands who was a stretcher bearer during the war. At a time when values seem to be at an all time low around the world we need to remind ourselves what it means to put people in deep need ahead of our own. Enjoy the show..

It is a June evening, and the sniper, who has had nothing to eat since morning, hungrily wolfs down a sandwich and takes a short drink from the flask of whiskey he carries in his pocket. He desperately wants a cigarette and finally risks showing his position by igniting a match and lighting one. Instantly, a bullet hits the wall near him. He takes two puffs of the cigarette and snuffs it. He raises himself to look over the parapet, but another bullet whizzes by his head, and he flattens himself against the roof. An armored car crosses O’Connell Bridge and stops just below the sniper’s position. An old woman with a tattered shawl around her head comes out of a side street to talk with a man in the turret of the armored car. The sniper wants to shoot at the armored car, but he knows that his bullets will not penetrate its fortified exterior. The old woman points in the direction of the sniper, who now realizes that she is an informer. When the man inside opens the turret to talk with her, the sniper shoots, and the man slumps over lifeless. The woman hurries toward the side street, but the sniper shoots again. The old woman shrieks and falls into the gutter. The car speeds away, the man in the turret still slumped there. More shooting is heard, and the sniper knows that it is coming from the roof across the way. He has been hit in his right arm, in which he has lost all feeling. The sniper takes out his knife and uses it to rip open his shirt. He sees that a bullet has gone into his arm but has not emerged from the other side. He takes out his field-dressing kit, breaks off the top of the iodine bottle that he pulls from it, and pours the dark liquid into his wound. Then he applies the bandages from his kit, using his teeth to tie the knot. The sniper knows that he must get off the roof by morning or else the enemy sniper will kill him. He realizes that the sniper on the roof across the way is watching him every minute and will not let him get away. Taking his rifle, which is useless to him because his wounded arm makes it impossible for him to fire it, he puts his army cap on the muzzle and raises it slightly above the parapet. A shot rings out and the cap falls to the earth far below. The sniper lets his left arm hang lifelessly over the parapet, holding his rifle in it. Then he lets the rifle fall and rolls over. The opposing sniper, assuming that his enemy is dead, relaxes his vigilance and stands up on the roof. The Republican sniper aims his revolver at his opponent and fires. The enemy sniper reels over the parapet in his death agony, then falls to the earth. The Republican sniper is suddenly revolted by what he sees and by what he has done. “His teeth chattered. He began to gibber to himself, cursing himself, cursing everybody.” He drains his whiskey flask in one draft. The sniper leaves the roof. When he gets to the street, his curiosity overcomes him and forces him to steal over to see whom he has shot. He attracts machine-gun fire as he goes toward the dead sniper, but he is not hit. He flings himself down beside the body of the man he has killed, then turns it over. He finds himself staring into his own brother’s face. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hmphaudiobooks/support

It was called "What Lewis NEVER Wrote." Finally, when recording this talk I neglected to consider the fact that when I was advancing the PowerPoint presentation my recording device was too close to the computer...so there you will unfortunately hear a lot of annoying clicks that I was unable to edit out of the audio. Lewis: An Overlooked 1963 Monograph by Roger Lancelyn Green." It explored a little known book by Green that was released the same year Lewis died.   Downland Paper from Taylor University
