Taylor Frankel, co-founder of Nudestix, has accomplished what many beauty entrepreneurs dream of. Starting her journey in her teenage years alongside her sister Ally and their mother Jenny, a seasoned chemical engineer with experience at MAC and CoverFX, Taylor helped identify a gap in the market for simple, multi-purpose cosmetics. Together, the trio launched Nudestix in 2014, a brand that quickly skyrocketed and is now featured in over 2,500 stores globally, including beauty giants like Sephora and Ulta. With the company now valued at over $100 million, Taylor, as chief brand officer, leads the creative direction, marketing, PR, and social media strategies. Nudestix has also expanded into skincare and body care, with the successful launch of their Nudebody collection and the addition of Sofia Richie Grainge as brand ambassador and investor. Join us as we explore how Taylor and her team built this powerhouse in the beauty industry and turned Nudestix into a global sensation. This season of our podcast is brought to you by TD Canada Women in Enterprise. Earned: Strategies and Success Stories From the Best in Beauty + Fashion
In Episode 122 of Earned, Conor sits down with Taylor Frankel, Co-Founder and Chief Brand Officer of Nudestix. To start, we dive into the founding story of Nudestix. Back in 2014, at the young age of 17, Taylor launched the brand in collaboration with her mother (Jenny Frankel) and sister (Ally Frankel) back in 2014. With a desire to create a product for those wanting “just enough” to feel more put together, the mother-daughter trio was armed with Jenny's experience at beauty brand CoverFX. With Nudestix's EMV surging 99% over the last four months, we learn about the data-driven strategy behind the brand's growth—and Nudestix has utilized CreatorIQ to achieve this momentum. Next, we explore how Nudestix views relationship-building with creators, and how being community-driven has gotten the brand to where it is today. Taylor speaks to her personal goals as a founder, and how even as a public face of the company, she still finds balance when it comes to sharing her content. By enforcing boundaries, Taylor has built and maintained her own following, sharing some of the day-to-day tasks she performs as a founder and what it takes to build a business. We then learn about how Nudestix formed partnerships with high-profile celebrities such as Hillary Duff and Sophia Ritchie Grange, and how these partners truly immersed themselves in the success of the business. Between the virality of Sophia's wedding and the collaboration that Hillary inspired, Taylor praises both partners for their investment in the brand from the start. Taylor then lets us in on Nudestix's entry strategy for the skincare and bodycare categories, which includes making sure that each line has its individualized moment. To close the show, Taylor and Conor chat about their email inbox numbers, and the goal to have it at zero each day—which reminds me…. In this episode, you'll learn: 1. How embracing viral moments can catalyze long-term brand growth and deeper community engagement. 2. How Nudestix leverages their social media community to drive product innovation and maintain a dialogue with consumers, reinforcing trust and loyalty. 3. The balance of personal branding and privacy with Taylor's candid discussion on the intersection of the founders' identity with the brand narrative in the digital age. It's widely accepted that the cost to acquire a new customer is a lot more expensive than to get an existing customer to repurchase from you. In this episode Taylor lays it all out on the table. She talks about the Nudestix philosophy on when to focus more on acquisition versus on retention. I was also interested to hear how involved Sephora was in their product roadmap. This was great learning on the value of working closely with retail partners. Obviously Sephora has seen a lot more brands come through their revolving door and has great advice for newer brands doing this for the first time. Finally, we cover off the idea of product lifecycles and how that creates new dimensions in the customer journey. Tons of great insights here that are easily replicable across industries! Press play to hear Taylor tell us all about it!
Most brands dream of having their products sold across the globe. Dreaming and getting it done are two totally different things and Taylor takes us through their “why” for the brand, which leads them to present Nudestix internationally. She talks about their strategy going through regional Sephora markets and how they've needed to adjust their business to meet local registration requirements. She also talks about the impact being a Canadian company has had on how they grow their audience in the US. Stay tuned for a special bonus section on mental health and the toll operating a global business takes on her mind and body.
Taylor and her co-founders started Nudestix when she was 17 years old. Think back to what you were doing at 17... I can only imagine the imposter syndrome she must have felt. In this episode, Taylor opens up about how she overcame being embarrassed about her age or experience starting Nudestix in high school. She gives advice for how to learn quickly and play to your strengths. She also talks about the nuances of creating a no makeup makeup category amidst the MAC era of heavy makeup being popular. Make sure to listen through to the end to hear Taylor's thoughts on who she thinks "Gets It"!

Today's guest is Taylor Frankel, co-founder of the beauty brand Nudestix. Together with her mom and her younger sister, the three women sought to create a company that would cater to the subtle looks and on-the-go applications that today's consumer demands. Though Taylor is still in her twenties, she has been in the game for quite some time now and speaks with the wisdom and maturity of someone far beyond her years. Taylor's mom, Jenny, has worked in the cosmetics industry for over 20 years, and would always enlist her daughters' help in packing boxes or filling orders. In some ways, they were running a family business long before they founded Nudestix, so it only makes sense that they would make it official and put their combined talents to work. Listen in as we cover everything from the challenges of being taken seriously as a young head of the company, why trust and communication are two of the most crucial traits to have as a leader, and how to adjust marketing strategies alongside the ever-changing social media landscape.

EPISODE 86./We’re so #good, kind and pure this week that you might be confused who you’re listening to! Has iso turned us into the eco, green, vegan, sustainable beauty podcasters you’ve always wanted us to be? Probably not. But our recommendations this week coincidentally seemed to follow this trend. It’s a dry-arse week for beauty news this week but Mecca’s first drop of holiday launches dropped and Lisa divulged receipts between her and Adrian about Alex’s early birthday present suggestions. We also discovered that a couple of products discussed in previous weeks episodes as ‘new launches’ are now available at Sephora aus. This week we trialled the new Sally Hansen Good Kind Pure vegan nail polishes. They’re a new plant-based 16 free collection of earth inspired nail polishes and we’re keen to tell you our thoughts! A revelation that Lisa had this week led us to a new ‘I can’t believe you didn’t know that’… you should store your liquid brow pens and liners upside down. Sound weird? We know. Find out why. We also have EMPTIES, Lisa reveals her favourite affordable Hyaluronic Acid serum, and of course non beauty faves and snacks to see us out. In episode fifty one of the Glow Journal podcast, host Gemma Watts talks to the co founder of Nudestix, Taylor Frankel. When Taylor Frankel was 17, the year was 2014 and she was launching Nudestix with her then 14 year old sister Ally and mother Jenny, a now multi million dollar beauty brand boasting Hilary Duff and Chelsea Handler amongst its celebrity investors. Taylor tells me that, given just how heavily saturated the cosmetics industry is, consumers are craving minimalism and simplicity. It’s a position she and her sister found themselves in as teenagers, scrolling through hour-long smokey eye and full coverage foundation tutorials with neither the time nor the inclination to recreate those looks themselves. Their mother Jenny, a chemical engineer who co-founded CoverFx and developed cosmetics for MAC, recognised Taylor and Ally’s disillusion with the beauty industry, and so the three of them worked together to conceptualise and launch Nudestix- a brand of multitasking, cruelty-free products designed to be literally drawn onto the face and smudged in, and formulated to enhance, rather than cover.Nudestix was picked by up cosmetics giant Sephora within a few months of its launch, forcing Taylor, Ally and Jenny out of their basement and into their first office. Six years on, and a brand that came to be around a kitchen table is now stocked across Australia, the US Canada, Europe and Asia. Taylor’s role within the company sees her travelling from region to region to educate retailers on Nudestix’s innovations. What she tells me has been the most inspiring part of the Nudestix story thus far, aside from working with her sister and mother, has been learning that regardless where in the world they live, women all want the same thing- to feel good. In this conversation, Taylor and I discuss Nudestix’s truly impressive sustainability program and why it’s so important to the brand, what it was like to be a teenager sitting at the helm of a global business and the challenges of remaining true to such a specific brand ethos and DNA- plus, we get exclusive insight into the brand’s new product skew, set to launch next month. You can read this interview now at: glowjournal.com/interview-nudestix-co-founder-taylor-frankelFollow Nudestix on Instagram at @nudestixStay up to date with Gemma on Instagram at @gemkwatts and @glow.journal, or get in touch at hello@gemkwatts.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

It’s red carpet season, woot woot! So what better time to welcome celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel. You’ve seen his masterful skills on Saoirse Ronan’s bedroom hair for the February Hollywood issue of Vanity Fair. He also fashioned one of his signature un-average updos for Charlize Theron at the Critics Choice Awards. The LA-based hair pro is also creative director and partner in a line of repairing, pure keratin-based hair products, called Virtue Labs. Listen in as Carlene fawns all over Adir’s hair accessories collab with Lelet New York, which filled a void for clients like Kristen Stewart and Rooney Mara who wouldn’t be caught dead in the cute-sy aesthetic of typical baubles and bows. With architectural, edgy designs that include antique gold chains cascading from a hair comb worthy of a GOT character, it’s no surprise that the luxe collection was written up in Vogue and subsequently sold out in a snap. And while Adir may sound completely high-glam, he’s really a bohemian spirit at heart, with a dramatic coming up story that probably warrants a big screen of its own. A hair prodigy if ever there was one, Adir began daydreaming about hair at the age of 5, he began doing hair at age 10, and he started apprenticing at just 15 years old. Spoiler alert: he was living on his own at the time, a ballet student who once was also a back up vocalist for Michael Jackson. Listen in as Adir shares his red carpet tips and tricks you can really use IRL, including a DIY hack for what to do if your hair products gets lost in a long-haul. Plus, the haircuts that age us; why woke-up-like-this waves are a bit over; and career advice from a legit Hollywood hair guru. *Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, all products reviewed are gratis media samples submitted for editorial consideration.* Hosts: Carlene Higgins and Jill Dunn Theme song, used with permission: Cherry Bomb by Saya For any products mentioned in this episode, check out our blog: www.breakingbeautypodcast.com/blog Get social with us and let us know what you think of the episode! www.Instagram.com/breakingbeautypodcast www.Twitter.com/BreakingBtyPod Join our private Facebook group Please rate and review us in Apple Podcasts
