SEASON 4 EPISODE 8: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: Donald Trump might as well have shot those kids in Minneapolis himself yesterday. Trump sends the WRONG guns in the WRONG hands to the WRONG places pursuing the WRONG criminals. You want to be tough on crime, Trump? Deploy the National Guard to the headquarters of the gun-manufacturing companies and arrest the monsters who make their money from the child-murdering business. Murdering children during their thoughts and prayers. And have ICE round up the politician prostitutes who take the gun money to protect a lie about what the second amendment really means. These are the criminals. Trump is the criminal. Trump is soft on crime, especially on the most prevalent, heart-rending crime of our century, school shootings. You want to push back against Trump as he militarizes this country? As he makes it The United Police States of America? You want to make something good happen in the wake of these latest children that we as a nation have sacrificed on our mindless altar of worship to guns? You want these to be the last? You have to say it; you have to SAY the truth: Trump might as well have shot them himself. Democrats are strangling themselves by listening to consultants and strategists who insist they cannot push back on Trump's deployment of troops in big cities because polling shows Trump's only policy that gets approval (53%) is his new stance on "crime." And yet the biggest political event of the week was a man who simply stood up and concisely and with controlled rage told the truth: Trump is crazy, Trump is trying to provoke violence, Trump's enablers will be prosecuted (or betrayed by him), and the media is bothsidesing us to death. His name is Governor J.B. Pritzker of Illinois and his comments may have been the true headline of this week. Also, bookkeeping news: the fine folks at iHeart and I have agreed to continue this podcast through at least the midterms. And a further announcement on a wider footprint is coming. B-Block (27:33) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: This may be the best edition of this, ever. Could this be the craziest thing (out of the 50,000 crazy things) Stephen Miller has said? Is he the first person to use the phrase "pool hall" in 60 years? Oh here we go: my ex is back in the news and stuck with the worst headline I've ever read: "RFK Jr's Digital Lover." And Candace Owens is being sued for defamation by the President and 1st Lady of France and she wants Trump to declare them "foreign invaders" and is amazed he won't because she's just not bright. C-Block (44:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Do people like Owens believe the crap they spout? I actually have 45 years' experience dealing with the phenomenon of the product subsuming the salesman. I met Rush Limbaugh when he was just a baseball guy and 30 years ago he stood at my desk at ESPN dreaming of doing SportsCenter. I knew Hannity when he said "why do people get worked up about this? It's just TV?" And then the link is established. The more they believe, the more money they make.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Dozens qualify for Cobb’s local elections Cobb’s municipal elections are heating up as more candidates throw their hats in the ring. By Tuesday, seven new names joined the races, adding to the dozens who qualified Monday. In Marietta, the mayor’s seat and all seven City Council and school board positions are up for grabs. Incumbent Mayor Steve “Thunder” Tumlin is seeking a fifth term, facing challenger Sam Foster. Meanwhile, council races are drawing a mix of familiar faces and fresh contenders, like Kenneth Wright, who’s challenging Ward 5’s Carlyle Kent. Over in Mableton, Cassandra Brown joined the District 4 race, while Austell and Kennesaw saw new challengers emerge for key council seats. STORY 3: Lockheed's C-130J wins "Coolest Thing Made in Georgia" competition Lockheed Martin’s Marietta-made C-130J Super Hercules just snagged the title of “Coolest Thing Made in Georgia” in the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s first-ever competition. And honestly? It’s hard to argue with that. Rod McLean, Lockheed’s VP of Air Mobility and Maritime Missions, was thrilled. “This aircraft has been a game-changer for decades,” he said. “To see it recognized like this—it’s incredible.” The C-130J, built by a 5,000-strong team in Marietta, has logged over 3 million flight hours and serves 28 operators worldwide. It even beat out an air taxi in the finals. Not bad for a 70-year-old legend. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info. It happened around 10:14 p.m. A red Chevy Silverado, driven by Temple Reed, 30, of Dallas, was heading west on Hadaway Road. At the same time, Royster’s black Nissan Sentra was traveling south on Mars Hill. They collided in the intersection. The Chevy hit the Nissan’s left side, sending it off the road. Royster didn’t survive. Reed, though injured, refused treatment. Police are still investigating. Got info? Call 770-499-3987. STORY 5: Cobb officials discuss ICE, mental health, crime prevention Immigration, public safety, mental health, and crime—big topics tackled at Tuesday night’s forum hosted by the Cobb County Democratic Committee at Switzer Library. Local law enforcement leaders, including Sheriff Craig Owens and Marietta Police Chief David Beam, fielded tough questions from both moderators and the audience. One hot-button issue? ICE raids. Owens made it clear: “We don’t know when or where they’re happening. They don’t tell us.” Beam echoed that sentiment, adding, “We’re not involved unless there’s an emergency.” Mental health also took center stage, with officials highlighting crisis intervention training and outreach programs aimed at prevention. “It’s about partnership,” Beam said. This week on Magnolia Street, we turn the page, literally and metaphorically, to explore magickal inks! From the smoke-darkened chambers of ancient scribes to the secret pages of modern grimoires, these enchanted inks have inscribed spells, drawn talismans, and summoned unseen forces. In today's episode, we dive into the hidden history and esoteric significance of magical inks. We'll uncover ancient recipes with strange yet powerful ingredients, from oak gall to dragon's blood resin, and even blood… yes, real blood. We'll also explore the folklore of invisible inks that reveal themselves through fire or time. Whether used to protect, conceal, summon, or transform, magical inks remind us that words are more than marks on a page; they are living spells etched in liquid intention. Join us as we trace these extraordinary elixirs across cultures and centuries, from the laboratories of ancient alchemists to the desks of modern poets, and of course through the pages of the Owens family grimoire in Alice Hoffman's enchanting Practical Magic series! The United States military, while not the largest by number of enlisted members, is unmatched with its number of ships, planes and tanks. The Founders divided control of the military in quite a genius way. Some power rests with Congress and some rests with the President as the military's commander-in-chief. Why did the Founders want military power to rest with civilians? How does this protect natural rights? To discuss the checks and balances in control of the extraordinary power of our military, we are delighted to welcome Mackubin (Mac) T. Owens to our podcast this week. Dr. Owens is a retired Marine Corps Colonel and Silver Star recipient for service during the Vietnam War, past dean of academic affairs at the Institute of World Politics and senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute.

The Philadelphia Phillies are in the final weeks and days of this 2025 regular season. Will the team be able to cruise to the postseason? There's good stuff happening with this team. There are challenges as well. This week, Justin Klugh from the Hittin' Season podcast and Baseball Prospectus joined us for a deep dive into what we've been seeing from his Phillies team on offense and from the pitchers mound. It was a fantastic and entertaining discussion! But first, the guys dove into some Philly sports history and notable moments that happened this week from years ago. (Approx. 4:25)From there, they discussed Eagles LG Landon Dickerson's knee and meniscus injury and what that could mean for the team and offense moving forward this season. (Approx. 9:30)The guys then talked about a recent investigative report that came out over at The Athletic: stalking within the world of sports. (Approx. 17:55)There's certainly some good with the Phillies as we look at what Jhoan Duran has brought to the closing role. Yet, there's uncertainty with Ranger Suarez from the mound. (Approx. 27:10)What they threw down on the Table this week was a great, in-depth conversation about this Phillies team with Justin Klugh from the Hittin' Season podcast. How should we be looking at Dave Dombrowski in terms of team building? Are the bats getting too hot at the wrong time? Concern for Zack Wheeler given his shoulder issues as of late? What's the biggest challenge for this team heading into the postseason? All of this and much more this week on the Table! There isn't yet a tariff on conspiracist narratives. So former Daily Wire podcaster Candace Owens imported one from France. Which is why she now finds herself the subject of a serious lawsuit filed by the French President Emmanuel Macron and the First Lady Brigitte Macron. Owens used Instagram influencer aesthetics to recycle a 2021 theory for American audiences that was originally promoted by a French spiritual medium and spread through “Yellow Vest” and antivax networks. For some reason, Owens wasn't satisfied with the genuinely odd history of the Macrons' relationship (they met when Brigitte was married with children and Emmanuel was just 14, despite most American sources claiming they met when he was 15.) Instead she picked up the convoluted conspiracy theory that Brigitte is really her brother Jean-Michel Trogneux who became a trans woman and proceeded to assist with turning Emmanuel into an MKULTRA-controlled “Manchurian Candidate.” In Owen's ludicrous tale, the Macrons then killed anyone who started asking questions about Brigitte's past, Clinton-body-count style. But since this nonsense is powered by crude bigotry rather than any investigatory impulse, the evidence is unsurprisingly weak. Owens' method of argumentation involves ignoring the fact that Jean-Michel Trogneux is clearly alive and a separate person, looking at real photos and declaring them fake, and birthday numerology. Jimmy and Americans' Comedian Kurt Metzger cover the surprising news that French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron have filed a 218-page, 22-count defamation lawsuit in Delaware Superior Court against conservative commentator Candace Owens. The suit alleges that Owens spread false and malicious conspiracy theories, including claims that Brigitte Macron was born male and is secretly Emmanuel Macron's brother, as well as that the couple is involved in CIA mind-control experiments. These accusations were widely circulated through Owens' eight-part podcast series “Becoming Brigitte,” social media posts, and branded merchandise, which the Macrons argue were used to profit from their reputational harm. In response, Owens has doubled down on her claims, calling the lawsuit a “goofy PR stunt” and framing the legal action as an attack on her First Amendment rights. And special bonus: Jimmy is even called out by name in the lawsuit for talking about Candace Owens' claims! Plus segments on Trump's plan to solve the homelessness problem through incarceration and the target on Burkina Faso's independent-minded president, Ibrahim Traore. Also featuring Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. And a phone call from George Clooney!
